CalDAV issue

Hi,
I have a CalDAV server I used for a couple of months without any problem. Since a few days (potentially since the upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1.3), CalDAV entries failed to work properly.
I have the following CalDAV clients:
- iCal on Mac OS X 10.6.3
- Mozilla Sunbird 0.9 on Windows XP
- iPhone 3.1.3
My calendar account has the following calendars:
- my own calendar
- subscription to a shared calendar on the same server I am allowed to write to
- 4 iCal subscriptions
All clients including the iPhone worked using a CalDAV connection for a couple of months. I was able to create entries for both calendar entries on any of these clients and saw the change on the others.
Since a few days, I have a changed behavior on my iPhone:
- I do no more see any calendar updates
- New entries from the iPhone are properly submitted to the server
I deleted and recreated the account on the iPhone. What I see is that all my iCal subscriptions are showing up again. All writable calendars however, only appear in the overview with the correct colors but no entry is visible on the iPhone. It seems that the CalDAV connection in principle is working but some data are not displayed on the iPhone anymore.
Then, I also tested with a second iPhone (3.1.2) using the same shared calendar. This iPhone still works without any problem. Is this CalDAV bug potentially related to the iPhone release 3.1.3?
Any hints to resolve my CalDAV issue?

I have solved my problem. The posteo support helped me with the following suggestion:
1. I exported the whole calendar in the posteo web gui.
2. Then I reset the calendar using the web gui (delete all events).
3. Next I sync all my (working) clients with the calendar. The result is an empty calendar on all my working clients.
4. Delete the calendar in BB
5. import the calendar (ics file) that was exported in step 1 with my Thunderbird/Lightning client.
6. Sync all other clients (my calendar is back on all clients)
7. Create a new CalDav calendar in BB
8. Now it works with all my Thunderbird/Lightning, Android and BB clients.
Hope that is helpful for others with this kind of issue.

  • MacBook Pro to Google to iMac via CalDAV issue

I have my iCal set up to keep my MacBook Pro and iMac synced via Google Calendar with CalDAV...everything works seemingly well except when I only change the TIME of an event, not deleting or adding. If i just change the time, it will only show on the computer I changed it on and Google Calendar, but not the other computer. This seemed to appear about the same time I upgraded to Snow Leopard, could this have anything to do with it, or is it a problem with the server?

I would start by doing the following on the MBP:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next, turn off both computers. Connect via a Firewire cable. Boot the MBP into TDM. Wait for the TDM screen to appear. Now boot the iMac normally. See if the disk drive of the MBP doesn't appear on the iMac's Desktop.

  • ICal and CalDAV issues: Address Panel - Open Directory Lookup? & others.

    An overview of my setup:
I'm using Google Calendar through CalDAV (set up with Calaboration), and have no problems synchronizing events. These are dealing with attendees.
Several parts to this one, so to start:
    1) It appears that, likely with any CalDAV calendar, my Address Panel becomes an "Open Directory Lookup" instead of searching my trusty Address Book contacts, which I would prefer. I also cannot type in names/email addresses and have them auto-complete, which I assume is now searching the empty Open Directory.
Is there a way I can force this to still use my Address Book? Or does anyone know a way to hook my Google contacts (in Gmail) into a directory search that will come up in the new panel?
    2) When people add me as a "guest" in Google Calendar (== attendee in iCal), I see it in my calendar on iCal. I see myself in the list, with my name and email address... but I cannot RSVP. Google recommends that I add my Gmail account hooked to my Calendar to my "me" card in Address Book, which I have done, but it still does not recognize, well, Me.
I'm stumped. Is there something I'm missing? Something else I need to do in iCal?

    Thanks for the answer.
I guess because I was deleting the 'local' calendar with some of my test accounts and not others I would sometimes get the local Address Book panel by default and sometimes the Open Directory panel.
    I agree it's pretty confusing.

  • CalDav Issues: migrating iCal server (10.6) to Calendar (10.9)

We just migrated our 10.6 Server using the migration tool assistant to Mavericks Server. Most of the data migrated smoothly except for the user calendars...
We have all our users running their account as mobile accounts and using the iCal Server service to store their calendars. On our 10.6 server the calendars were store to a specific volume (example: /Volumes/Drobo/iCalServer ). After the migration to Mavericks Server, we activated the Calendar service and then all the calendars for all the users went blank with a default calendar called "calendar"... so it seems we lost all the calendars and events for all the users :-(
How can I restore them? Is there a way to export the calendars from the old server to the new one?
    Thank you.

My impression is that the individual users' Calendars are stored in their individual User Directories on the Server.
    /Users/short-user_name/Library/Calendars/
The actual filenames are impenetrable -- they look like UUID strings.
I did not copy any calendar data around. But when I did my upgrade, I had to re-specify the calendar accounts
(inside Calendar > Preferences > Accounts for each user)
... before it would agree that there was any valid Calendar data anywhere.

  • Major CalDav and Syncing Issues with Ical and Address Book

As a CEO and business owner - I loved the move over to Mac after the intel chip as installed.  Yet, the issue of working on a Mac for business comes down to the operating system.  Up to Snow Leopard I was very pleased.... since Lion it has gone downhill.   I upgraded to Mountain Lion and many of the issues with speed and problems with mail were addressed.  Yet, it appears Apple has made a bad decision with regard to synciing to other programs.
I was told it has cut out syncing capablities for Address book and Ical (I assume other programs).  This has caused great issues for The Omni Group, File Maker and Market Cirlce (creators of Daylite) and a lot of angst for me as a business owner!
To top this off - it appears CalDav is not bi-directional and has issues.  In other words, it does not work as it should.
I am not sure what Apple was thining when it stopped allowing internal sync between programs. Yet, CalDav and CardDav are not always the answers!
I hope the CalDav issues are being cleaned up and if anyone from Apple wishes to comment on this I would appreciate it.  I have tried to talk to support but the powers to be are the ones calling the shots on software design.  Support can't fix what is broken the program.
Again, I hope Apple revisits syncing.  Maybe the concern is security but it is MY DATA not yours.  I just want the programs to work so I can make sales and support my customers efficiently.   You have made it hard to do this with changes.
    David

As an IT consultant,  i'm in agreement with Mr Utts.    The promise of "it just works" died with Steve Jobs.   Mac OS has been in freefall since 10.5 .    I need a fully functional OS,  not an iPad on my desk.  ( this means YOU Forstall !! )
Why break Samba ( a standard ),  why break WebDAV ( a standard ), why break CalDAV ( a standard )??    Apple has done ALL of these things and they seem to be doing it on purpose.
The Apple "ecosystem" is just fine,  but removing functionality as fast as you can, and removing interoperablity as fast as you can...  if Apple products ONLY work within the ecosystem... people can and will leave Apple.    You've already run off the business users by refusing to make a real Server or real Server software.   You ran off the video user with Final Cut Pro X.   Dumbing down (and breaking) the OS is running off the IT User.
Mac OS used to easily walk the line of "hard core enough for a Unix Guru,  easy enough for your Mom".  Now they just want the Moms.
And i disagree,  we are ALL "qualified to say what Apple might do about this...",  they will do nothing.   They don't beleive they have made a mistake.  They beleive WE are the problem by stubbornly insisting that things that used to work should continue to work.

  • Caldav Account problems

I noticed a forum regarding Caldav account problems for the Iphone, however, is there one for the Ipad?  I have tried the suggestions of logging into my yahoo account, searching for my password under settings/mail/account, etc., and that has not worked.  I have also gone into my calendar and unchecked my name as to unsync my calendar/caldav.  I still cannot get into my Ipad, it has locked me out and asked for the Caldav account password.  Does anyone have a solution for the iPad Caldav issue?

  • Is collection detection for caldav in the works for the lightning extension? Issue with lightning integration with multiple collections.

Hello, i currently have a server running davical which serves my users' calendars, currently users which wish to use thunderbird and do not want to use the web interface for calendaring (and wish to use lightning instead) have to add each collection seperately, rather than just provide the base URL of their calendar info.
So instead on most calendar clients putting this as the calendar address:
    davical_base_url/caldav.php/username/
and be done with it, they have to go through the new calendar wizard for each calendar/todo collection, and cannot easily create collections from within the lightning user interface, instead have to resort to either the calendar interface or the davical server interface to create/manage collections. They also have to figure out what the names of the collections are under davical, automatically generated collections have a large UID name instead of the example collection names. I.e. they have to add a bunch of URL's like this individually as calendars:
    davical_base_url/caldav.php/username/work/
    davical_base_url/caldav.php/username/personal/
    davical_base_url/caldav.php/username/worktodo/
    davical_base_url/caldav.php/username/personaltodo/
    davical_base_url/caldav.php/username/8302E5D8-3630-419E-BCFC-A6A144D292C8/
Are there any workarounds for this or is it in the works? other calendaring applications in the ecosystem haven't had an issue, Android is fine, iOS is fine, CalDavZAP is fine.
    Hopefully someone can help,
    Cheers.

    Hi all,
Just curious if anyone was able to solve this.
We experienced the same issue in both NW2004 (SP 20) and NW2004s (SP11).
Through trial and error, I disabled the portal integration flag, and the InputHelpV2 started working perfectly.  Decided to search SDN this morning to see if anyone else had run across this, and this post was right on the same issue.
When the portal integration flag is enabled, and you perform the F4 dropdown...your browser seems to hang, and no popup window is displayed until you click in the browser window with your mouse.  Once you click in the window, a tiny small InputHelpV2 window pops up, but it isn't functional (i.e. you can't highlight a row, and click on the check mark without getting an IE error (Access is denied)).
    Best Regards,
    Chris Cassidy

  • Issues with N9 accounts (CalDav, Dropbox)

    Hi,
I've got a weird problem with my N9 accounts app. When I try to create a CalDav-account for Google calendar, everything goes fine to the point that I have to choose the syncing schedule and the color of the calendar. When I then save the account, the phone prompts "Data storage full. Free up some space first". Any idea what this storage space refers to? I'm using a 64Gb N9, with some 30 Gb free space left, and there's over a Gb free in the section that is reserved for apps (see attachment).
Well, I wanted to see if this had something to do with a maximum amount of accounts or something, so I removed my Dropbox-account temporarily. However, I cannot re-open the account, as I get a "account won't save" -message each time I try to save the account. I've tried rebooting the device and resetting to factory settings, but the problem persists. Is there any other remedy, than doing a hard reset (I'm a bit reluctant to do that, given that there's a lot of reinstalling and -syncing to be done after it)?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    SIGH.........
Another broken software protocol on the N9...
Don't expect help or a fix from this company. As far as they're concerned you don't exist and they would very much love it if you and all other N9 owners would just go away forever so that they can help their Lumia customers...you know, the ones that have given them 2.9% market share!!!
You'll just have to try to work around this issue or get another phone. For me, it's either Ubuntu phone or Jolla's Sailfish...but one thing is for sure, NEVER again a Nokia product as long as I live and I tell family and friends to stay far away from Nokia products.

  • WebDav Issues (calDav, cardDav)

Good news first: I was able to connect with my webDav provider. I made one account for each service and the phone automatically grouped them together.
But they dont work as they should...
The cardDav account only fetches 25 contacts of 100+. When I create a new contact on either side it also wont show up on the other side.
calDav worked first. But it stopped fetching new entries from the server. However creating a new entry on the phone gets transmitted to the server and vice versa.
Various desktop clients work flawless with those accounts.
Anyone had similar issues or maybe an idea to solve this?
Btw: Will the field for Outlook categories ever get implemented? I am tired of getting it strippend from my data. It would also be nice to use it for automatic Groups. Even my old phone did this although it rather sucked at synchronizing.

Did set up a fresh calendar on the server and updated the contacts too.
For a short time I had all my calendar entries showing up on the phone. I could open and view them
But now most vanished again -.-
It looks like everything that has an Outlook Category assigned got filtered by the system. Which is everything except for birthdays in my Calendar. This does not what I expected from business phone...
Contacts on the Phone now made it to 46. Umlauts (ä,ö,ü) got converted in question marks in a square... (Edit: Error with umlauts was made by a different client)
After more than one year after the BB10 release, stuff like this should have been ironed out.

  • Caldav setup issue

Hi all, I'm having some issues with the Caldav feature. I'd like to set up iCal to sync with my google account, but every time i click the plus in the accounts tab nothing happens. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
I'm running Mac OSX Snow Leopard with iCal 4.0.4

    Hi,
The classifications link is not appearing in your Project's Setup page because, Classifications must have been unchecked in the Project template from which your project has been created. You can find the Project template information by clicking on the Additional Information link in the same Project -setup page. Once you check the classification flag in the concerned Project Template, all future Project creations made out of this template would have the link enabled.
But for the current project, classification link cannot be enabled.
    Rgds,

  • CalDAV and CardDAV issues

    Hi,
I just got my new Z10 ... it looks and works great.
However, when I try to get the CalDAV configured against a Zimbra or OwnCloud backend it keeps asking for an e-mail address to use as the login.
These two services use the username.  Why can't the client be configured to use the specific username instead of being forced to use the e-mail address as the username.
I know there are issues with the Google Calendars but these other ones are not working at all either.
Is there something I can do to workaround this issue since I am not the administrator of the CalDAV services I am connecting to I can't change my username to be the same as the e-mail address?
    Thanks!

I spend some nights with my new Z10 and ownCloud (4.5.7 and 5.0.0).
I checked out what's going on (wireshark is very, very useful) :
    Here's a short summary:
email adress is not necessary (to connect to ownCloud), username and password are used
Server name ist really just the server (a port number may be added); no protocol, no path/filename
https is alwas used, thus default port is 443
ownCloud sends http redirects to phone's requests,  but BB doesn't seem to handle them properly.
The last item mentions the problem(s)
For some reason ownCloud only responds to
    <servername>/<path>/remote.php/<application, eg. carddav>
BB requests two paths: "/" and ".well-known" -> ownCloud sends redirects (per default HTTP 302 "Found", other 30x codes don't work either)
BB ignores the redirect respones; instead it just retries
I modified ownCloud's internal checks in order to make it respone to ".well-known" requests.
It wasn't actuall stable, but at least I was able to load my old phone's contacts...
CalDAV appeared to work to, but then the Z10 killed the calendar application whenever I attempted to enter a date.

  • Solutions to Some DNS, OD, AFP, CalDAV, AFP, and Spotlight Issues

I recently upgraded our aging Xserve (1.3GHz G4, yeah baby!) to Leopard Server from Tiger Server so everything in the office would all be on the same OS. This server hosts all our in-use files via an Xserve RAID, and our dead files are on the internal 3-disk striped array. It's also the Open Directory master and hosts the office's DNS (I wanted to put OD and DNS on the new Xeon Xserve that hosts our FileMaker database, Retrospect backup, and our Squid web proxy, but something in its DNS configuration is broken and I gave up on that since OD and DNS don't really put any additional stress on the G4). Anyway, with all the hoopla of configuring, reconfiguring, and fixing, I've learned some things that may help others.
    *DNS, Open Directory, and AFP*
I had some trouble with groups and ACL permissions, inability to get CalDAV working, and general strangeness with OD and Workgroup Manager. Demoting the server from an OD master to standalone took care of most of these. Part of the problem was an incorrect LDAP search base, which can only be corrected by blowing away the OD master and making sure DNS is set up properly. We only have about 20 users (we don't host network homes or anything like that), so when I did the demotion I just let it destroy all the accounts, and after promoting the server back to an OD master, I recreated the users and groups from scratch. So with freshly created users and groups, and after resetting the ACL's and propagating permissions on the network shares, that cleared up the permissions problems. The corrected LDAP search base fixed the Directory application too, which wasn't showing any contacts before, and it got Kerberos working as well.
    iCal/CalDAV
All this work also got CalDAV/iCal calendar sharing running, and when I enable calendaring for a user, it stays enabled in WGM. Before, whenever I'd switch to another user and come back, calendaring would be turned off in WGM, although it was in fact still enabled. I haven't tested calendaring much yet, and adding an account in iCal is still a bit flakey. Our DNS is just internal, so in Server Admin I un-checked "fully-qualified" for our few DNS hostnames. If I mark the server's DNS hostname as fully-qualified, auto-discovery of the address in iCal won't work. iCal rejects my passwords if Kerberos authentication is used in either case, even if I manually point it to the IP address, but it connects fine without Kerberos.
    *Spotlight and AFP*
Another problem I had after upgrading the server was stale spotlight searches. I used Server Admin to turn spotlight searching on and off for the two shares, and I tried any number of mdutil commands and System Preferences "privacy" settings to turn indexing on and off and to rebuild the indexes. With the old machine and about a terabyte of data, indexing would take all night, so I couldn't really try a lot of things. Every time the index was rebuilt, it would propagate out to the office just fine, but it would never update from then on. The solution to that was changing the permissions on the volumes the shares are on. The shares themselves had the correct permissions and ACL's, but the volumes need their POSIX permissions set to:
    owner: root: read/write/execute
    group: admin: read/write/execute
    everyone: read/execute
Over the years those permissions had been changed (this server started out with OS X 10.2 Server btw, so there's been plenty of time for things to get b0rked), but Tiger Server apparently didn't care. Another thing I did (although I'm not sure if this was necessary) was to change the "Others" POSIX permission from None to Read Only. Once all that was changed, mdworker started chugging along to keep the spotlight index updated. However, it went nuts after the 10.5.6 Server update, constantly working with no sign of ever finishing. The update notes do make specific mention to Spotlight changes, which says you have to disable spotlight indexing for any shares in Server Admin, then re-enabled it to "take advantage of the new features." That started another night of indexing, but it's now done and updating properly. I noticed that a new inherited ACL for the user "Spotlight" showed up at the root level of each share point. I'm not going to touch that.
I'll admit that I hate spotlight's interface and lack of control in Leopard (i.e. it always resets your search parameters, you can't change the results window's columns, and you have to already be in the folder you want to search, etc.). That being said, I can search for anything on the server and it finds the results almost instantly. Even a search that returns "more than 10,000" results only takes about 5 seconds. With Tiger or Panther server, ANY search would take several minutes and grind the server to a halt, making anyone else who tried to save a file or navigate the shared volumes get the spinning beach ball.
Hopefully this will be of help to someone.

    Hi.
You've not outlined your issues with AFP per se, having any ?
DNS is critical for OS X Server, it's appropriately finicky about working forward & reverse DNS lookup for its FQDN.
Certainly, Leopard Server may make assumptions contrary to your intent, if using the non-advanced setups, as it will attempt to use DNS and if not available, this may result in settings other than you desire.
By default, hostnames entered in the Server Admin DNS settings, will be considered as part of the DNS zone you're editing.
    So:
    server
    would be for: server.yourfqdn.com
If you mark that as fully qualified, well, then it's looking for: server
    which is not a FQDN
As well, I believe Apple states it should no longer be necessary, but if you do need to change the hostname for your OD master, it is often possible via the Termina/command-line via:
    (sudo) changeip
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/Manpages/man8/changeip .8.html

I have an error message saying that CalDAV password for my work email is not correct and it will not allow me to hit cancel to get around it nor will it allow me to shut down the ipad. How can I get around this?

Try this.....of FarmVille or Facebook app is what your using, then don't use that.
Just go to the web page and log into Facebook and see if it works that way. The Facebook app may not run those specific items like the cows and plants because those items are server based.

  • Caldav password issue

I would to know how to get rid of this caldav message on a my Verizon iPhone that I am using in western Africa. In fact I tried to enter my yahoo mail password but there is no answer, I mean the pop-up message coming say " server unavailable please try later". What should I do?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
