Calendar alarms on iPod

I have my Entourage calendar and to-do items synced to my iPod. One the alarm goes off, is there any way to "snooze" or "defer" the alarm reminder? Sometimes, I want my iPod to remind me again later instead having to cancel or dismiss the alarm.
Does anyone know if that's at all possible?

What happened to alarms in Calendar? They used to work. They worked as one would expect alarms to work.
Now I get notified (only after 9 am) of events that happened yesterday even though the alarm was set for the day of the event. Snooze options? May as well drop them from the app rather than taunt the user with choices that are no choices.
9 am? This has got to be an arbitrary decision by a nameless developer at Apple. This person lives in a world different from the rest of us. I'd love to have been in on the team meeting for that decision. How does Calendar serve those people who work and function through the night?
Now we have Reminders. Hobble Calendar to drive users to Reminders. Is this the notion? If it is that's guile. That is definitely a step in the wrong direction.
I've been a loyal and devoted Apple user since 1989. Mountain Lion is the first "upgrade" that is pushing me away from Apple.
I earn my living as a documentation specialist. I use Macs and Windows machines all day, every day. My preference has always been Mac but I tell you that is beginning to change. In both worlds, so-called advancements are actually hindrances to productivity.
Seems developers work in a vacuum without having to rely on their applications to make a living.
Newsstand crashes on my iPad - it has for some time now without resolution-still does as of this am with the latest iOS update installed
Calendar alarms are essentially useless so I'm shopping for a third party app
Reminders get Calendar categories but don't harvest the data. You have to enter that again. It's in Calendar already!
Notes don't sync with Notes in Outlook so that's useless
Maps is a huge failure. It's replaced what was once an excellent app with Street View being a wonder. They've fixed that to where it's useless. It locates people in my address book in places not even close to where they are. Who at Apple figured that what was available needed fixing to point of Maps being unusable?
The developer of Paperless can't support scanners in Mountain Lion so now I'm required to use the software (old, clunky, and still working) the scanner came with to get the same job done
My 160GB iPod is no longer recognized by my Mac's OS and hasn't been for some time. They still sell those iPods?
I don't understand the approach to "improving" functioning apps to point of making them useless.
Apple—I'm swiftly becoming disenchanted. Not that anyone there will ever see this message. It's a shout into the void. I vote with my monetary investments. I'm fortunate enough to make a good living and can purchase whatever products I choose. It's always been Apple but I have to say my support is dropping like the functionality in applications.

Mac OS 10.8.4 is still in beta. You need to be reporting this to Apple.
What happens if you move these profiles to the Adobe/Profiles folder, or the users/Library/Colorsync/Profiles folder?
There has been a lot of discussion of this on many forums with no solution.
What forums? A google search turns up nothing but this thread.
I have not seen this problem with the released versions of 10.8.

  • ICal alarms on iPod

When I synced my 80 GB Classic iPod to my MacPro I opted to include all calendars. I want to have the calendars on the iPod, but the alarms which I have in my iCal (which send me an email alert) are creating pop-up aural alerts on my iPod which cause some problems. I have tried turning off all alarms in iCal before syncing, but the iPod still creates aural alarms.
Is there a way to have the calendars on the iPod without having the alarms?

Believe me when I saw I have tried everything! I am not technically minded though I have covered all bases. I am just anxious to get this great feature back. It just seems strange that I am the only one with issues. This happened with my 60G then right through to now. I am actually on my second 80G as the first's battery failed after a month.
Is it an issue with my Power Book? I seriously have not change any settings - EVER. Except for the standard updates.
Thanks again for your quick reply Anyone got any ideas?!

  • Disabling calendar alarms?

This may be a long shot, but...
I sync my calendars to my iPod so that I can quickly check what my schedule looks like when I'm out & about. However, I do NOT need the alarms that are associated with events on the iPod. Is there any hack that will let me keep the alarms on my computer (where I do need them) but disable them on the iPod?

    Bump!
    Any brilliant inspirations?

  • Itunes no longer imports calendars into my ipod

My first problem was that iTunes would only transfer over certain calendars, not all that I had selected. On top of that, some, but not all, of the start times were an hour later than my iCal calendars. And, I've been having issues with disappearing calendars. So, I restored the iPod and the following happened...
After connecting my ipod to my iMac, I went to iPod options and under calendar, I selected to "synchronize all calendars". iTunes found all my calendars. I clicked ok, iTunes says it's "updating calendars" and after a few moments my ipod is back to normal. But, when I navigate to calendars on the iPod, there are no calendars to be found.
So, I reinstalled itunes. deleted .plist files. I even exported all my calendars to .ics files and completely reinstalled iCal. Restarted the iMac a few times in between. Now, the only way I can get the calendars to show up on my ipod is to mount the ipod as a drive and copy over the .ics files. Since I have 16 calendars, the export and copy routine is not ideal.
I do not sync with entourage. I have a .mac account, but I don't sync with that either. Nor do I have the Mark Space app that seems to appear in a lot of threads about odd times and disappearing calendars.
I have a Gen3 20gb iPod with the latest updates, itunes (6.0.4) ical (2.0.3) and OS X 10.4.6 with 1 GB RAM and about 160 GB of available on the hard disk. My iPod has about 12 Gb of stuff on it.
Any clues as to what's happening or how I can solve this?

Sorry, it took so long to respond. The computer is connected to the internet via a dedicated DSL line. As I mentioned, up until two weeks ago this was never a problem and really nothing has changed. I tried going under Advanced as you suggested but it came back with "Unable to connect to the CDDB server. The network connection was refused. Make sure you internet connection is active and your network settings are correct, then try again."
    Any other suggestions? Thanks

  • Calendar Alarm Open FIle not working in Mountain Lion

Recently upgraded my mac mini server to 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. I need it to open a particular Filemaker file every morning, and close the application every night. Used to have a simple alarm in iCal set to do this with Open File and then a very simple Automator script to close the program at a scheduled time, also in iCal. Worked fine. Now, in trying to recreate this, it doesn't work - I make the scripts, and if I set them for a time I can test them (ie. 5 minutes from now), they work as planned, but they will not function on their own at the scheduled time. I thought it might be going to sleep, so I set Energy Saver to Never go to sleep, unchecked "Put hard disks to sleep when possible", and checked "Wake for network access". Still not working. Any thoughts? Any idea how to even troubleshoot this?

I thought I was on to something, but then I re-read your post and saw that you've successfully tested your scripts in Calendar.  So, all I've got left to offer is a silly question: has the calendar been set to ignore alerts?  I ask because just within the last few days I created an Automator calendar alarm, tested it successfully (in the same fashion as you), and set it off to run on its merrily-scheduled way, only to discover it wasn't firing on its own.  Like you, I double-checked my Energy Saver settings and it looked like things should work just fine.  What I finally found was that at some point during all my testing and fiddling I'd ticked the "Ignore alerts" box for the calendar,  and that's what was keeping my script from firing.

  • How can I extend the calendar alarm sound on my iPhone?

Before I got my iPhone I used my mobile phones (dumb, android, Symbian) to set an alarm with the calendar. I'm having a hard time properly doing so on my iPhone. My brain is lined with teflon and I forget a lot of stuff - up until now my mobile phones have been vital in remedying this.
Say that I have an important appointment at 14:00 two weeks from now, I punch it in the calendar on my iPhone and let it alert me an hour before the event. When the time comes my iPhone lets out a measly "beep" that no one hears and I miss the appointment - I can go entire work days without looking at my phone (and phone usage is strongly discouraged at my workplace) so this is really a big problem for me. So far I've missed a couple of important meetings, left important stuff undone and forgot to pick my kid up from kindergarten (my wife usually does, but there are those rare, calendar reminder occasions when I have to)!
On all the other phones I've owned I'd be able to set the calendar alarm so that it would go on and on and on until I reacted, thus minimizing the odds of me missing the alarm. I have no idea how to make my iPhone do this.
Sure there are workarounds like making the calendar alarm go off a day before to remind me to create an actual alarm clock alarm for the day after but that really seems to be an uneccesary hazzle and a major design flaw - also, what if I'm really busy when the early reminder goes off and I forget to set the alarm? Or perhaps I should attempt to tame myself to constantly check my iPhone for possible alerts? I really love my iPhone, but if it becomes a handicap i'll throw it away in a heartbeat.

I was not aware of the fact one could use ringtones as alarms, this will suffice! Although I foresee some very awkward times as the sound does not stop once I respond to the reminder (it keeps going for good five - ten seconds after I "stop" the reminder), but it's better than missing it altogether!
    Thank you very much!
Regarding the Alarmed app, doesn't it have to be running to actually remind you?
-Modular747: I don't know anyone who actually reads the terms of service agreement, those things are usually up to thirty, small print pages full of legal jargon. Rules, I do read - not the legal documents (also they often contradict the laws in my country, but that's a whole different story).
I agree with you - the average customer support consultant mostly cares about keeping his job and earning his salary (don't we all?) and thus racking up completted tasks (i.e. getting rid of customers as fast as possible - in a good mood). The "threat" none the less is real, if a cell phone causes me more trouble than it is worth, I will indeed throw it away (I have done so before) - and recommend a different brand to anyone willing to listen.
Don't get me wrong, I love Apple and I've been faithfully using and recommending their producs for twenty years now, not because of fanboyism, but because they earned it. This calendar issue, however, is like a toaster that doesn't automatically eject the toast at the set time. I see it as a major flaw and after googling around a bit I see that it's been around since at least 2007 (THAT'S SEVEN YEARS!!) so I strongly believe they are aware of this problem by now, but are choosing to ignore it for some mysterious reason and it really ****** me off.
I will send the feedback but based on my observations I suspect the Send button is merely a cleverly disguised Delete button.

  • Calendar alarms are no longer supported?

My previous scripts are simply not running and there doesn't seem to be an option to add one to an event any more! Automator still has the option to create calendar alarms and my scripts still exist, but the feature seems to have been dropped from "the-app-formally-known-as-iCal" altogether! Am I missing it? The new ascetics of the app are nice and I generally have no other complaints about Mavericks, but I have entire workflows dependent on this!!! Help???

You received the error because some security issue with the App Sandbox, basically the OS doesn't think your app is safe because it's not signed.  You can confirm this by opening the console.  Look for a message saying something like:
    lsboxd:
Not allowing process nnn to launch "/Users/.../Library/Workflows/Applications/Calendar/....app" because the security assessment verdict was denied.
If you get the issue, the easiest way to fix it is to run it manually once.  Once you do that the OS will start trusting it.
More info (a lot more info...) about the App Sandbox here: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Security/Conceptual/AppSan dboxDesignGuide/AppSandboxInDepth/AppSandboxInDepth.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP4 0011183-CH3-SW29

  • ITunes could not sync calendars  to the iPod because sync server failed to

I have been having a problem with my iPod touch and syncing the calendar with my PC I keep getting this error message +iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPod "Peters iPod" because sync server failed to sync the iPod+ It could be coincidence but this problem began right after I got my Verizon iPhone and loaded that into my iTunes, I never get this message on my iPhone and have received it only twice on my iPad. I called Apple Care and they suggested that I remove and reinstall iTunes and QuickTime and they sent me a link on how to remove them in a particular sequence...I followed their advice but it didn't help so I called them back and they said I must not have followed the sequence and to try again...needles to say I am frustrated because it wasn't that complicated I removed it as directed and still I get the error message...if anyone has any suggestions *please help!!*

Thanks, Stuwawah.  Tried this.  Although Notes did sync, and although the calendar info was posted to iPod, we haven't fixed the problem yet.  New symptom to report.  When I opened "calendar" on the iPod, I was able to tap on an event, but I can't tap my way back to any other view of "calendar."  The "<--calendars" button is missing.  Is there a trip to the Apple Store in my near future?

  • Desktop direct sync resets calendar alarms

    Hi,
I am not setup on BES and I am sync'ing my 8320 direclty to my PC wiht BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
My problem is that after each sync, all of my calendar alarms for the last 24-48hours get reset and I get a burst of alarms from Outlook when the sync is complete.  The hand held does not show the burst of alarms.
Setting the switch in the BBDM for Synchronization>Calendar>Setup... "Remove alarm from past items" does not change the behavior.
    HW: 8320 - T-mobile
    BBDM 4.7.0.32
    phone: v4.5.0.81
    Outlook: 2003 SP3 11.8206.8221
Please let me know if anyone knows how to clean this up.  Thanks!
    Thanks,
    Frank

    Have you seen any resolution?
I see a "Remove alarm for past items" in the Calendar setup for sync.  Doesn't appear to make any difference.  Going to try resetting to default and see what happens.  Maybe some combination of my tweaking is causing this.

  • Viewing multiple calendars on an iPod

I successfully sync'd my iCal file that contains 7 calendars with an iPod Touch. When viewing them on that iPod, I found that I can view any ONE of those 7 calendars or see ALL of them at once, but nothing in between.
Is there a way to choose and view 2, 3 or 4 of those calendars? Looking at all 7 at one time is too cluttered but I'd like to see conflicts between 2 or 3 of them. This can be done in iCal for Mac, But I haven't found how to do it on the iPod version.

google for atomic parsley-it's a meta tag editor.
Should be able to find something with a nice GUI that would work.
Lostify on the Mac works nicely.
