Calendar alerts not happening

My calendar entries have little yellow bells by them, but the Bb's not giving any kind of audible alert tone or vibration when the appt. is due. I've looked in calendar options, profiles, where my Bb is set to "normal," and settings, but nothing about setting the calendar alerts is there.  It seems like such a simple issue--anyone know how to turn on the calendar alert?
Thanks so much for your time, and best wishes!

Go to Solution.

You have to first click on your profile icon, then scroll down and select advanced. Then click on normal if that's what you use. Then you will see all the things you can change the tone for. Click calendar and adjust as you wish, just remember to hit the back key and save.

  • Ios7 calendar alerts not working.

I have an iphone 5s and my brother has an iphone 5. both have IOS7.  The calendar alerts are not working.  We both set events and the events show just fine.  It even syncs to iCloud and shows up on my iMac etc.  But the iphone does not alert.  I always set a 2 hour followed by a 1 hour alert for my appointments.  While the alert shows on my imac, nothing shows up on the iphone.  I checked to make sure that the iphone seeting for calendar allow notifications and everything is setup ok.
    Anyone have this issue?

    Hi Ell1,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are not receiving your shared calendar notifications. Please read over the steps in the attached article to help resolve the issue.

  • Calendar alerts not loud enough

My iphone5 alerts are way too soft, and I can't hear them. The ringer is set to max, but I can't figure out how to set the calendar alerts to high. When I do a hard reset it works for a while (less than a day) but then goes way down in volume. I need a good, loud alert for appointments. I've set it to vibrate, but it's not always in a pocket so I can feel it. Please help me. I'm missing appointments because of this. I think it started after the last iOS update, but it seems more recent than that.

You may want to look into using another sound for the tone, or possibly another app to use for reminders. I don't know of another way to make it any louder.

  • Calendar Alerts not working correctly

When I create event in my iPhone 5s Calendar (iOS 7.0.6), the alert setting is messed up.
I set up 2 alerts (reminders):
    For example...
The first would be 2 hours ahead
The second would be 1 hours ahead.
But... the calender ALWAYS put the Second alert FIRST since it's the earliest reminder!
It frustrating as heck as it does it ALL the time!
Has anyone have it happen to them??
Obviously, you want the Furthest date reminder to be the First reminder alert then the Second alert would be closest time to the appointment.
    Tried the following under Calendar:
    1. Using "edit"... it's "fixed" but upon saving but it puts the Second alert reminder First and vice versa.
    2. Tried the "Event Details" screen... tap on Alert and Second Alert to make the changes. You make the changes but the changes are NOT made, at times, at it's reversed. Sometimes it will save but not always.
    - If either is saved, you exit to "<Day" then Return to the appointment Only to find out that the Alerts have Switched AGAIN!
    Frustrating as heck!!!
    Any solutions?!
    Thanks!

I have been experiencing this same bug for 3 major releases now!  I have called Apple support on it, and there has been no fix even remotely suggested.  They aren't even aware of this problem.  Clearly, no one from Apple has cared enough to address a major functionality bug like this this, which has been around since 2011....
This is Apple's MO.  Make beautiful products, that work wonderfully, but include something sooo stupid that it keeps them from becoming great.  They've done this with OSX and the server versions.
Maybe we'll get a fix in iOS 8, but I wouldn't hold my breath, since as far as I can tell, they aren't officially aware of it.

  • Calendar alerts not syncing?

    Hi all,
I share calendar with my wife and kids, but when I create a new event and set an alert, the event is created on my wifes and kids calendars too - but the alert is not set on their devices.
Is that "by default" or is it a bug?
    Thanks!
    Mojo

It is one way or both? Are you just syncing to the local computer, or to Exchange? Have you tested to see if contacts and notes are syncing? I had a little trouble the other day, and it was actually some time after I updated to iOS8, but before I updated to iOS8.0.2. That did not correct it, but it was just the calendar that wasn't syncing. If I changed something on the phone, I would get the warning on the computer iTunes that it was going to change data (I have it set to warn me of any change) but it didn't change anything. So, I tried a number of things and no go. I added a contact and a note to the phone, and the same to Outlook, did a sync and they both worked, just calendar. So I went back to iTunes, selected the Info tab and changed the sync setting for Outlook. I had an old calendar that I deleted from Outlook calendars, but it still showed on the list of individual calendars in iTunes. I changed the setting from syncing all calendars to selected calendars and chose the deleted calendar. Then I clicked on Apply. Well, for some reason, when it attempted to sync and found that calendar no longer existed, it reset the list of calendars and the sync corrected itself and has been working ever since. Don't ask my why or how, it is just working!

  • Random calendar alerts keep happening from shared calendars

I work at a 50 person organization. We all have a google calendar.  All staff can see everyone else's calendar.
On iOS 8.1.2 in the calendar app, when I click "Calendars" at the bottom, I can see a list of all staff calendar.  I can have them ticked to show them, or not.
When all calendars are unticked other than my own, I only see my calendar appointments.
The problem is in the notifications.  Without any easy to define pattern, from time to time I will have my phone notify me of random staff members appointments.  These are most often events I have nothing to do with (literally 6am "meetings" to wake up, go for a run etc etc).
If I click "show details", then quickly go back to the main calendar view, click "Calendars" down the bottom, I'll sometimes see that persons calendar ticked (even though they were all unticked previously) - but not always.
This problem has existed only since migrating from a iPhone 5 to iPhone 6. Both were up-to-date on 8.1.2.  On the iPhone 5 I couldn't even see everyone elses calendar so I had no option to subscribe to seeing their calendars in the app.
When the problem first started happening, it was happening all the time - every 15 minute interval as everyones calendars were reminding them of their next thing.  My phone would buzz like crazy.  It is happening less so now - just a few times a day.

  • Setting calendar alerts -- What happened to 12 hours?

I always had a 12-hour alert.  Now my alerts are 24-hours out.  That doesn't do me a bit of good and hasn't since ML came out.
I'm no expert, but normally I can figure this sort of stuff out.  How come I can't have a simple 12-hour notification anymore?  Did I miss something?

If you open Calendar's Preferences (under Calendars in the menu bar) then choose "Alerts", 12 hours is not one of the default choices, but you have plenty of other choices as shown here:

  • Calendar Alerts Not Working

Whenever I set an alert to appear on "Date of Event" for an "All Day" event, the alerts never show up. Am i doing something wrong or is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I'm having this same problem and unfortunately not seeing many solutions. Do you sync your iPhone with MobileMe by any chance?

  • Calendar Sync - Not Happening

When I recive meeting invites and accept them, they dont show in the schedule and only sometimes show in the agenda. i use the schedule as a norm.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks
    Martin

    Hi GrumpyOne,
What type of email account(s) are you receiving these calendar invites in? By the schedule are you referring to the default view when you open your calendar? Do these meetings display at all in your calendar in any view? Does this change only when you change views of the calendar?
I look forward to your response.

  • How do I stop calendar from coming on automatically and overiding gmail so that I cannot access it. I can use windows explorer and this does not happen.

When I use firefox to access my gmail account, the calendar comes on by itself and I then cannot get to my emails. If I get the gmail account by windows explorer this does not happen. What can I do within firefox to stop this from happening. It just started this today.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Today

I had the Integrated Gmail 2.5.5 addon enabled.
After disabling the addon the problem is gone.
Hope it works to you guys.

  • Calendar alert snooze does not survive shut-down

I set many calendar alerts for a day or more in advance. I often snooze them for 2 hours, several times a day, to repeatedly "nag" me and keep the task in the forefront of my leaky brain. In OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, I could snooze an alert for 2 hours at, say, 11 PM, just before shutting down and going to bed. The next morning, that alert would reappear at startup. In 10.9.3 Mavericks, it seems that the snooze expires at 1 AM while my MacBook is shut down overnight, and it does not reappear at startup the next morning. Is this the "new normal"? Thanks.

I have also submitted feedback to Apple about this, as I think they have rendered Calendar all but useless by stripping out the ability to set sound cues, and to specify the lag time when hitting the "snooze" button. I completely agree, this is a serious and unprofessional messtep to remove a core function as though it were a trivial feature of the software. I've been a loyal Apple consumer for two decades, and this really makes me angry.
I am hopeful the wonderful people at Apple will restore this function with the next update to the OS.

  • Nokia 2720 calendar does not alert when it should

Does anyone know what to do when Nokia 2720's calendar does not alert when it should? E.g. when I have set a reminder for Tuesday at 19.00 the phone starts to alert on Wednesday at 00.01. All day and time zone settings are correct. Calendard alerts have never worked on time.
I really like this phone otherwise but this bug is annoying. Thank you for your help in advance!

I have the same problem, and have not found out how to resolve it.

  • Calendar alerts on every device after installing Mountain Lion. How do I stop this? Tech support acted like I was the first person this happened to. Anyone have the solution?

I have Calendar alerts on every device [Mac/iPad/iPhone] after installing Mountain Lion. How do I stop this? Tech support acted like I was the first person this happened to. Anyone have the solution?

Well, whichever device you uncheck = exclude from calendars (and reminders) via iCloud will be excluded as both, receiver and sender. It's an "all or nothing", I guess. Otherwise it'd get more complicated, and the support calls could easily fill an extra forum...
@lmp68: don't think iTunes is it, in the days of iCloud that would sure take quite an extra effort, if possible at all.

  • Syncing is not happening when adding events to google calendar via iPhone or laptop

Google Calendar is the only calendear that I use on my iPhone.  My Google Calendar has a total of 8 "sub calendars".  If I add an event to my Google calendar via my new iPhone 5S or via the lap top-the two devices are not communicating with one another-therefore not updating each other.
I just transitioned to the iPhone 5S last Sunday.  All settings used on my previous iPhone 4 were saved and transferred to new device.
I have attempted to make changes to settings while the iPhone is syncing to laptop via ITUNES and by searching General Settings-Mail/Contacts/Calendars on phone itself, but no change has granted what I'm looking for, and I'm making more of a mess for myself. Pressing the Calendars app on phone-its home screen used to read:
    All Calendars
    IMac Calendars
All Google Calendar     *with the possiblity to check off which calendars would be seen on my phone.  This NO LONGER APPEARS this way.
    My choices now read:
    Hide All Calendars
All Google Calendar -with the option to check off all 8 sub calendars.
Google calendar is not a "new" account, again, this was set up on my old phone and working up until the switch over.
    Appreciate your help.
