Calendar alerts on iphone

I'm having problems setting alerts when i make an appointment in my calendar. If I set a reminder for 2 days before my scheduled appointment, the alert goes off at 12:00 a.m. For example, if I set an appointment for Friday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. the alert will go off at 12:00 a.m. Wednesday morning!! Any ideas on how to fix this. Thank you to anyone who can help.

Wow that is unbelievable that Apple told you to come online and search around a bit. Well unfortunatly i have no other suggestions on this one. Possibly make another thread with a more descriptive title. Hopefully someone will come along and know what to do. Or you could PM a top user of this forum and they might be able to help. Sorry i couldnt help you out more!!

  • Issue in synchronisation hotmail (outlook) calendar/alerts to iphone calendar

Does anybody know how to synchronise iphone calendar with hotmail calendar ? Because when I imput appointments on my hotmail calendar it doesn't transfer to my iphone :(, it doesn't transfer either from iphone calendar to icloud calendar. I already configurated hotmail on my iphone via settings, hotmail etc, mail calendar are checked... I don't have problems with the mail that I can get on my iphone, just pb with calendar. Thank you. BTW I have the same issue with google calendar.

    Solved it.
You need to use "Exchange" instead of "Hotmail" for connecting a "Hotmail" account.  I love how intuitive this is.
    LOL.

  • How can I remove calendar alerts from my iPhone?

My iPhone 4 (iOS 6) seems to be adding calendar alerts on its own and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove them. I use iCal on my Macbook Pro (running Mountain Lion 10.8.2) to sync my calendar events. None of my events on iCal have alerts set to them and I have disabled all alerts in my iCal preferences. Yet, for some reason, when I look at a calendar event on my iPhone, an alert is set for it.
How do I remove these properly? I do not simply want to silence these alerts, but figure out how they got there in the first place and remove them completely. For comparison's sake, I've included an image of the event from iCal and the event from my iPhone.

    Hi pjdemeo,
I understand you want to delete all of the photos from your iPhone.  As a precaution, I would suggest importing the photos and videos from your iPhone into your computer.  This will give you a backup for the images, and after import you will be asked if you want to delete the photos.
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201302
The iPhone User Guide has instructions for deleting photos directly from the device:
Organize photos and videos - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iphf14943e
Delete a photo or video from Photos. Tap the Photos tab, tap the photo or video, tap , then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video. Deleted photos and videos are kept in the Recently Deleted album on iPhone, with a badge showing the remaining days until the item is permanently removed from iPhone. To delete the photo or video permanently before the days expire, tap the item, tap Delete, then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video. If you use iCloud Photo Library beta, deleted photos and videos are permanently removed from all iOS 8.1 devices that use iCloud Photo Library beta with the same Apple ID.
    Cheers,

  • Two iPhones. One account. Can I have separate calendar alerts?

I have a new 4s. My wife has my old 3GS. We are using the same iTunes/iCloud apple I'd account. It's nice because she can make her own calendar and I can make my own calendar. If I don't want to see her calendar I just deselect it in the calendars to view menu. I can see her stuff if I want to and she mine by going the other way. The problem is Calendar ALERTs. Even if I've deselected her calendar, my iPhone still beeps a reminder at me from one of her Calendar alerts and vice versa. Is there some way to make it so that the alerts only occurr if I've selected her calendar to view?
I also have kinda the same problem with reminders. She gets mine and I get hers even though I've got two separate "lists" of reminders. Can I stop that?
Also a similar deal with contacts. Can we have separate contacts lists and only see the others when we want to?

    No, sorry.

  • On iOS 7, my wife receives alerts from my calendar even though she chose not to see my calendars on her iPhone (We have the same iCloud account). How can I turn off my alerts on her iPhone 5 but nor her alerts ?

My wife decided to use her calendar on her iPhone 5 via our iCloud account so that it will be synchronized with her iPad 3.
I have been using it for many years for leisure activities and for my work.
Althought she chose, in her calendar settings, to only see her calendar and not my calendars (I have many for leisure activities, for one of my job, for my other job etc...), she still gets alerts from my calendar events even thought she do not see the events on her iPhone nor on her iPad.
Has anyone a solution for this ?
I read many things on internet about this but found no solutions yet.

Well, let take the personal service point of view : let say, I had two calendars on my iCloud account : one for work, one for my leisure activities.
On my MacBook Pro that I use at home as well as at my office, I would want the two calendars to show and since I am alone in my office, I would want the alerts for both my work and my leisure activities to show (and make a sound at the same time).
But on my iPad that I only use at home, I would only want my leisure activities alerts to show (and make a sound) and on my iPhone that I only use for work, I would only want my work alerts to show (and make a sound).
That is a personal service that simply does not work.
Why would Apple give us the opportunity to hide some calendars on certain devices but not allow us, on these same devices, to switch off the alerts linked to these calendars that we have chosen to hide ? Why having alerts of calendars that do not even show on these devices ?
And I am an Apple fan since 1984, since the very first Mac. I still do believe Macs and Apple devices and/or software (iOS, OS X and others...) are much better and much more efficient than " Microsoft, Windows, Google and other Android devices and software.
But that does not mean everything's perfect (and I find that quite normal).
Nevertheless, in this case, letting alerts make a sound on a device where a specific calendar is not shown, that does not make any sense : when uncheking those calendars, the alerts linked to those calendars should be automatically switch off (but alerts should be able to work on the calendars that are shown.)

  • Why am I getting double popup alerts for Google Calendar events on iPhone?

This is happening on both mine and my wife's iPhones (mine is a 4 and hers is a 3GS) which are both on the latest iOS (6.0.1).  This is what I've figured out:
On iPhones: Default is to set no alerts/reminder for calendar events
On Google Calendar: Default is to set a popup alert 1 hour before event & email 1 hour before event
When I create a new event on my iPhone: It saves with no alerts set, then after uploading to google calendar it shows as having two alerts 1 hour before the event.  If I go into Google Calendar, it shows that 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event.
When I create a new event on in Google Calendar: It saves with 1 popup and 1 email are each set for 1 hour before the event per the default settings.  If I go to my iPhone, it shows that I have 2 alerts, both for 1 hour before the event.
So it seems that the iPhone is seeing both the popup and email alerts and creating two popup alerts on my phone!
Is there anyway to fix this?  I've tried setting up the calendar on my iPhone through Gmail account, Exchange account and CalDav account and it's all the same.

I figured it out.  It has to do with which calendars you want displayed.  Duplications come from multiple calender selections.

  • Iphone 4s calendar alert issue

I tend to put 2 alerts on my calendar events, one for 1 day before and the second one for 1 hour before (or some other on the day of event).  I have noticed that when I put in the first alert for 1 day before and then enter the second alert for 1 hour before and click done they have somehow been reversed, the first alert is now 1 hour before and the second alert is 1 day before.  I have to click them again and change them to the proper order, this usually take about 3 tries to get them to stay as I want them.  I can them save the event and all is good.  I was at the Apple store and the staff duplicated this issue so I know I'm not the only one experiencing this nuissance.  Has anyone else come across this?  I do hope the upcoming update will fix it.

    Update since Genius visit:
    1) Apple is working on an update
    2) There is no awareness at Apple of this calendar alert issue as a bug, hence it is not being addressed/worked on
    3) Solutions offered by Genius have not resolved this issue.
Solutions offered by Genius, in order of which to try first:
    1) Delete calendar data from iPhone: Settings>iCloud>Calendars OFF and then restore data from iCloud: Calendars ON
    2) Reset iPhone settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
    3) Restore to factory settings: Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings, then restore data from iCloud and in-app backups.
    4) Use another calendar app (seriously)
Of course, if the bug is actually part of the iOS software (could it be?) then no amount of erasing and restoring data will fix the issue.  I completed the first two options with no change, and am not willing to do the third option because I am not interested in going through the process of backing up, then restoring all my third-party apps.
My solution: raise awareness of this issue with Apple, so that it can be worked on and fixed.   I have reported it as a bug through Apple's feedback module: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and I encourage-- no, ask-- you to do the same, if you are experiencing this issue.  I provided a link to this forum topic to show the variety and detail of problems.
Are you sick of missing alerts, fiddling endlessly, coming up with workarounds, paying for unreliable software, and not being responded to?  I am.  It's time to rally!

  • How do I remove calendar alerts on my iPhone that were added when I installed Mountain Lion

Just recently upgraded my Mac OS X to Mountain Lion.  Did notice though that all-day events in my Calendar now have alerts.  Was able to remove them from Calendar in my MacBook, but noticed that they're still there in my iPhone and iPad even after synchronizing these with my MacBook.  Any suggestions on how to remove the alerts from all the all-day events without resorting to manually removing them one by one?

re: Mountain Lion adding default alerts that you can't get off you iPhone/iPad
Found a workaround that fixed the problem for me.  All posts and other help did not work on my MacBook Pro/iPhone 4s/iPad 3....Here's what I did.  First, exported each individual calendar to a .ics file on my desktop.  Then removed all calendars.  Then went to Calendar->Preferences->Alerts and selected "None, None, None".  The check box for "use these default settings only on this computer" is checked and grayed out, so I could not change it.  Then went to System Preferences->iCloud and unchecked Calendars and Reminders, and Documents and Data.  Got the warning that it would delete data on MacBook but that's the only option, so I did it and did not seem to lose any data.  Then opened iCal and imported each .ics file from the desktop.  After that was done, I checked Calendar->Preferences->Alerts again and it had changed back to default alert at 9:00am, so I changed again to "None" .  Then I went to iPhone and iPad and in Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars, changed Calendars->Default Alert Times-> to "None, None, None". Then on iPhone and iPad went to Settings->iCloud deselected same Calendars and Reminders, and Documents and Data.  Restarted all...sync'd to iTunes, first time checking replace calendar data on iPhone and iPad (Bottom of "Info" tab)...Then sync'd again and all alerts are gone now on all devices and everything is working like it was using Snow Leopard.  Takes a few steps and a little time, but this worked great for me and no issues since.
One thing to mention is that I tried all these steps without deselecting "Documents and Data" in iCloud settings, and it didn't work.  Had to do each step in above order to get things the way they were before Mountain Lion.

  • I have upgraded to an Iphone 6 and am at IOS 8.2.  My calendar alerts no longer show up as notifications on my phone.  I have gone into settings and double checked that notifications for calendar was on and it is. Any ideas on a fix?

I have iPhone 4s but the same problem with calendar on 8.2 iOS - no sound, no notification appears - but everything is switched on.

  • IPhone calendar alerts continue after calendar events are deleted

I had several recurring events in iCal on my iPhone which finally came to an end.  I deleted the events, but the alerts continue.  Every day I am receiving alerts for events which are no long occurring.  How can I delete these alerts.
I am using an iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2), but these events were created last year when I was still using an iPhone 4.  I sync my phone to a MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.5) over iCloud.

Just to add to Doug's post...
I'm on the same system - syncing between my iPhone (4) and iCal on my Mac via MobileMe.  Never had any problems when I was phone iPhone 3, and not sure when I started getting this problem with my iPhone 4 (may have been when upgrading to new MobileMe calendar), but I am not getting pop-up alerts which I have set up in iCal on my iPhone.  They do pop up on my Mac desktop, but not on the iPhone.  The thing is, when I go into Calendar on my iPhone, all the events that I created in iCal are there to be seen in Calendar on the iPhone, and when I select one of those events, all the correct information (including the alerts) are there to be seen.
So the information all appears to be correctly in the iPhone ... and hence I would not have thought it could be a syncing issue.
But come the time for that alert to pop-up on my phone and it just doesn't do it.
I have checked other issues mentioned, like the time zone.
... I've just applied the fix suggested by diana1953 (but in my case applying MobileMe where she has referred to Google Calendar / Gmail) and it seems to have worked on the test event I set.  Thanks.

  • How do my partner and I share our calendars on our iPhones?

Hello.  I am completely new to all of this so I apologise if I don't follow any protocols correctly.  I would love some help to figure out the best way for my partner and I to share our calendars on our iPhones please.  I have done a lot of research but I still have no idea where to start.  I guess I am leaning towards some kind of app but open to all options.  I would love us to be able to view and edit each others calendars and also a "shared" calendar which stores appointments and events that we are both committed to.  It would be handy if an event was added to the "shared" events calendar, for it to be automatically added to each of our individual schedules.  I should also mention that the apple devices we have are my iPhone 4, my partners iPhone 4s, and also the latest iPad (I think it is a 4 with retina?), but no Mac desktop or laptop computer.
I have read a lot of good things about the app "Fantastical" and like the look of it but not sure if it is a personal calendar or if we can both use it to add and edit from our seperate devices.  Doesn't look like it has a task manager though.  Also, do I have to have a gmail account to link to these apps?  Information that I've read seems to talk about syncing with other calendars but we don't currently use any kind of digital calendar.  I would be open to creating one if necessary but if it could all be done in the one app that would be great.
Open to suggestions on other apps - I have downloaded a few free couples ones such as "Avocado", "Cozi" and "Simply Us" to preview and would be open to purchasing full versions if I knew they were right for me - so far it doesn't look to me like there is a big enough emphasis on the calendar feature, they are about messaging and photos which aren't a priority at all for us.  Cozi seems to have a lot of the features I'm after, but when I view the "Shared" calendar it shows shared events, but then they do not show up in our individual calendars.  Also the To Do section doesn't seem to correspond to days, just a general list, so you can't assign certain tasks to certain days.  The features I am after is mainly a calendar with the specifications I have listed above (individual and shared calendars that can all be viewed and edited by both parties, and shared calendar events automatically booked on to individual calendars as well - also daily or weekly views as well as monthly).  A To Do or Task Manager feature would also be great, preferably where you could see who added which item to the list, or seperate lists.  And lastly, a grocery list that we could both view and update.  But I mainly would just like a great shared calendar and a task manager/to do as a bonus!
Does anyone have any advice for me?  I think I am after a little more than the standard calendar app that comes with the iPhone?  Also, we don't have iCloud set up and have no idea how to do this or really even what it is - as you can see I'm a bit of a beginner and pretty hopeless.  Really don't know where to start.
Sorry for the length of this post, I am just very confused!  Thank you so much in advance to anyone who is kind enough to take the time to respond.

One more thing sorry, it would also be great if my partner was alerted when I added or edited something, and visa versa.  Thanks again.

    Hi,
the content was purchased using two different Apple-IDs / Accounts?
If above is the case, then I fear you cannot merge the content using now one combined account. Content always belongs to one dedicated account. As well as a iTunes library can only belong to one dedicated Apple-ID. And also the iPhone can only belong to one dedicated iTunes library and also Apple ID (for the store stuff, for iCloud stuff you can use a second ID)

  • How do I set my wife's iPhone to only see certain iCal calendars on her iPhone?

My wife and I just purchased 2 iPhone 4S's.  We are sharing one Addple ID and one iCloud account with our iMac.  I keep several iCal calendars, which were all created on our iMac.  I am able to access them and get alerts from my iPhone with no problem.  However, she also receives the tasks from all of the calendars on her iPhone as well.  Even after I click the calendar icon on her iPhone > go to the iCloud calendars and uncheck all of my calendars, my tasks still keep showing up on her phone.  How can I set it so she only sees calendars she'd created or those that are intended to be shared?  Do we have to have 2 Apple IDs and/or iCloud IDs for this?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not sure why when you uncheck the calendars on her phone that the calendars are still visible within the app, that isn't supposed to be the way it works.
Why are you averse to having individual iCloud accounts.

  • I can no longer determine a calendar alert snooze time?

I'm very dependent on my calendar alerts and use them for recurring events like bill paying and unique events like meetings and doctor appointments. Up until OS 10.7 (Lion), when an alert popped up and I wanted to continue being alerted of that event, I could simply choose the snooze time (be it 5 minutes, an hour, a day or a week) and could continue to be re-reminded until I chose not to be.
Last week I upgraded to Mountain Lion so I could take maximum advantage of iCloud and my new iPhone 5. After much frustration and searching, it's apparent that the option of determining the snooze time in "Calendar", formerly known as "iCal" is simply no longer an option. Why remove a core feature of a core app? I'm stuck using the default snooze time as set in the calendar app, then, when the alert does pop up, I'm stuck with either dismissing it completely or hitting "snooze" only to be reminded every 15 or 20 minutes. This works okay for events with a short lag time, but in other cases (I will sometimes set up a bill payment reminder days before it's due so I have time to cover the due amount in my bank account) I'm stuck having either it pop up incessantly for days EVERY 20 minutes for DAYS or dismissing it, risking missing the payment due date.
I know from scanning these forums that a lot of other people are unhappy with the dumbed down functionality of this core app. I haven't been able to find an alternative to the app from any third-party. It sounds like both "busycal" and "fantastical" are dependent on Apple's calendar app so I don't know if they will solve the problem or not. I don't really wnat to spend money on a third party app just to get back a core function of an app I've been dependent on for years.
If anyone has found a good alternative to help get back this simple, but critical functionality, I'd love to know about it. Thanks!

I have also submitted feedback to Apple about this, as I think they have rendered Calendar all but useless by stripping out the ability to set sound cues, and to specify the lag time when hitting the "snooze" button. I completely agree, this is a serious and unprofessional messtep to remove a core function as though it were a trivial feature of the software. I've been a loyal Apple consumer for two decades, and this really makes me angry.
I am hopeful the wonderful people at Apple will restore this function with the next update to the OS.

  • No calendar alerts since OS upgrade

or is it another DST issue?
I just realized that I've been missing events because my iPhone is no longer alerting me with what's on my calendar, even though it's still set up to do so.
    Have others been seeing this?
    Message was edited by: HaoleKai

    Additional information:
I added a new calendar event, and the alert went off for that, but none of my existing alerts have been working. I'm going to try deleting the calendar from the iPhone, then re-adding it and see if that fixes the problem, but I don't have another already-scheduled event until tomorrow, so won't know for sure until then.
Is no one else seeing this issue?

  • .  It's not clear to me if the default sync for calendar is the iphone or my mac (shows 82 modifications).  I want it to default to the mac but the wording suggests the iphone.  Also, I don't see any way to do the syncy

I'm having trouble with a sync alert.  It's not clear to me if the default sync for calendar is my iphone (3G) or my mac (shows 82 modifications).  I want it to default to the mac but the wording suggests the iphone.  Anybody know the default device and if it can be and if the other can be selected if desired
Also, I don't see any way to do the sync on an individual entry basis for calendar.  Looks like it will only do all of them at once.  I'd like to go through them one by one to confirm which entry is correct.

I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.
iCloud: Erase your device - Apple Support
This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.
