Calendar ap opens briefly and then closes?

The calendar ap opens briefly and then immediately closes, not allowing me to access any information.  Any thoughts on how to fix?  I've tried the various reboot options with no success.

Did you quit the calendar completely and then reboot? It might not solve it, but it will not hurt either.
Quit the app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't do any good, you can try resetting all settings.  Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
You could try restoring from a backup - if you have a very recent backup. Otherwise all data entered since your last backup will be lost if you do this.

You may have a corrupt entry that can only be dealt with by restoring the device but that would be the last step to use and only if nothing else works.

    The format keeps changing but the basics remain...in the center of the screen are large images of the recent apps which you can close by swiping up and away.

    The other day i deleted my email accounts off of my ipod and only reloaded a few of them. today i looked at my notes to look at a project i had typed on my notes because i didnt have paper and pen around to write it and i didnt want to froget. I reloaded the rest of my emails in hope that everything would reappear but sadly only some of them from 2010 loaded. Recently i had update some of the files and they were like they were when i first created them there were alos ones that i had deleted long ago. There are other notes i had made that were really important to me to andi wouldn't be able to remember every single one. Help Please!

  • Facebook app begins to open up and then close immediately

    When I am opening up the Facebook application on my iPhone, it just opens the screen and then closes right away.
    Does anybody know why? I've powered down and back up, but it still does the same. My phone is just a couple of days old, but I've done the software updates.

    I starting having this problem yesterday, for the second time in two weeks (I got my iPhone on the 26th of July). I did a complete restore last night. i got all of my data re-entered into each program. then, i switched my language to Japanese, and all apps started crashing again. I tried un-syncing a bunch of them, re-synching, then synching only part of the 80+ apps I have (okay, I know I'm an app junkie). Hard re-setting didn't work. Nothing did.
    I was actually thinking of taking it back and reactivating my old phone.
    Then I tried something simple. I re-downloaded a free app (Hangman) directly to my iPhone via the apple store. BAM! Hangman worked, and so did everything else.
    The cause of my problem may not have been the same as everyone else's, but here is what I think worked.
    1) In OS X on a mac, if something goes awry with a program, you usually can fix it by deleting a plist file.
    2) Since you cannot do that on your iPhone, a corrupted plist file somewhere in the iPhone was refreshed/fixed by re-downloading the software directly to the phone.
    I know that elsewhere, on Maccast specifically, I heard that it is best to never download programs directly to your phone (it is always better to sync them through iTunes), but this has me thinking otherwise. Once I get iPhone working again, I may try to never again connect the iPhone to iTunes again. I guess this means listening to podcasts ONLY on my other (STABLE, NON-CRASHING) iPod, the classic... so even though I bought the iPhone in part so that I dont have to take a PHONE and a MUSIC PLAYER when I leave the house, then I will have to take two devices anyway...

  • HT1296 I just bought a new MacBook Pro and moved data over from my old MacBook Pro.   Everything seemed fine at first but Outlook 2011 for Mac will not run.  It just flashes the Outlook logo briefly and then closes.  Help!

    Everything seemed to work fine after moving everything over from my old MacBook Pro at first but I cannot run Outlook 2011 for Mac.  The logo displays briefly and then the app closes.  It never really even gets anything loaded other than the little logo.

    Try removing and reinstalling Outlook

  • When I touch an application, no matter what it is, it opens quickly and then closes and goes back to the main screen. What should I do?

    Basically what I said before. I will touch the Words with Friends app, just for an example, and it will open and quickly close. Same goes for everything else. Birds, Facebook, Music, Books, etc. Any thoughts?

    - A reset usuallu cures the problem:
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If still problem, restore from backup via iTunes.
    - If still problem, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • I am having to run v3.5.10 because even now with latest 3.6 that version - every 30 seconds or so I hear a process open and then close. Can't track it down even in task manager - too brief but it's insistent! So stuck having to use 3.5

    I have to use V3.5.10 despite wanting to run 3.6 (just updated to 3.6.6 too). However when I run 3.6 I hear thru my sounds set up a process open briefly and then close every 30 seconds or so - it's very regular and insistent and I'd like to know what it is and why. It's too brief to spot in Task manager processes listing. This did happen once under 3.5 I seem to recall but was cured when it upgraded.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Pretty much soon after I first applied and ran 3.6

    My Win sounds give me a sound each time an app or process opens and another when it closes - thus I know from that any time something happens.
    I have 3.6.6 on as well as 3.5.10 - so can run either. But running .3.6.6 despite being update still has this odd process open and close every half minute.

    When i try to open week cal it loads and then closes after a few seconds...I have checked for updates, turned the phone off then on, closed out of the app and then opened it again...nothing works!  I have thought about deleting the app from my phone and then reloading it again but I worry that it will delete all my calendar info???  Any suggestions?

    To reset, press and hold the Home and power buttons until the silver apple appears.
    I would delete the app, reset the phone and then download the app again. Your calendar information should be stored on the phone as Week Cal uses the Calendar app information.
    Best of luck.

  • AcroRd32 Opens and Then Closes when Invoked from VB in PowerPoint

    Hi,
    I am trying to open a pdf file embedded in a PowerPoint presentation while in presentation mode.
    Theoretically, I should be able to click on the embedded object and have it open in its proper application.
    When I try to open a pdf file, AcroRd32 opens, briefly displays the document, and then closes immediately.
    This happens in both versions Acrobat Reader 9 and X. The problem didn't exist when using Office 2003, but now exists in Office 2007.
    I can open the document when in editing mode - just not in presentation mode.
    I have built an Add-In for PowerPoint.
    My VB code for opening the document is:
    myshape = applicationObject.ActiveWindow.Selection.SlideRange.Shapes.AddOLEObject( _
                    FileName:=vrtSelectedItem, Link:=MsoTriState.msoFalse, _
                    Left:=22.5, Top:=127, Width:=675.8, Height:=377)
    With myshape.ActionSettings(Powerpoint.PpMouseActivation.ppMouseClick)
                    .Action = Powerpoint.PpActionType.ppActionOLEVerb
                    .ActionVerb = "Open"
    End With
    Does anybody know how to fix this problem, or have a work-around for it?
    Thanks.

    The application maps is not working. When I try to run it opens for a few seconds with a blank screen and then closes.

    Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

    When I try to open Adobe Reader, it just opens a gray page and then closes by itself. This also applies to any pdf files I try to access; they'd all follow the same pattern: Gray page-->automatically closes after 2 to 3 seconds time. I have tried accessing the Eula.exe via C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, however, the only available button for me to click is the "Decline" button and not the "Accept" license agreement. Please help!
    THanks

    Thanks for your help!!!!

    I've tried my best to troubleshoot. . . opening in safe mode nothing seems to work.
    In the problem report, this is the error that stood out:
    Crashed Thread:  8  Dispatch queue: com.apple.iad.iadidmanager
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000090

    Hi there navicin79,
    You may find the troubleshooting steps in the articles below helpful. The first thing I would try is reinstalling iTunes as outlined in the first article.
