Calendar app eating up my mobile data

Since upgrading to an iPhone 5S with iOS7 I've regularly used up my mobile data allowance of 750 MB by the mid of the month. Almost never ran into that problem with my iPhone 3GS and iOS6.
I've checked mobile data usage in the settings and apparently the Calendar app is the culprit. It has racked up 421 MB in ten days. I am using iCloud. How is that even possible? Is anyone else having these kinds of problems with the Calendar app?

Same problem for me too. (iPhone 5 not 5S)

  • Calendar app icon is stuck on date of upgrade

Since upgrading on Saturday to Yosemite, the calendar app icon is stuck on Saturdays date (8 NOV), but if I open the calendar the correct date is highlighted (Nov 11).   I have tried quitting and restarting calendar but that doesn't do anything   Oh and it is still asking for a password to my google account every time (really irritating).
    N.B. I am NOT technical!!!

Thanks for the suggestion DaVBMan, sadly it didn't work. The only thing that did work was to wait until midnight and it corrected itself. In the mind of the phone it lived a whole day twice and then skipped one completely in order to get back on track. Very odd and also I have since discovered it has happened to a few of my friends too.
It's not happened again so I have no idea what so ever what caused it. Fingers crossed it never recurs.

  • Create entry in calendar app when tapping on a date in the app

    Hello,
I've been researching the internet on this topic but haven't really found a solution for my problem: I'm using the Adobe DPS Single Edition for iPad app magazines and I'm creating the content in Indesign CC.
I have an event list page in the magazine and there's a date for every event (sometimes 1 day per event, sometimes several days for 1 event). When the user taps on the date (or a button), that date shall be entered into the calendar app that is pre-installed on every iPad. How is that possible? Can you please help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Helene

  • Podcast app still downloads on mobile data when settings say it shouldn't. This has cost me money due to data allowance. Any idea how I can stop this?

This has happened a few times now. It always seems to happen at the start of the month as well so I can not use mobile data for the rest of the month.
Apple are just wasting my money because of a fault in their system. Really need to get this sorted!

This happened to me, too.  I found that the new Podcast app goes wild. The iPad was in the computer case all day and ate up 5GB of data, and that was on ATT 3G.  Battery power was down to 60% and the iPad was warm. Anyway, I opened "Settings" and scrolled down to and opened "Podcast".  There I found a switch to turn off the cellular data for Podcast downloads. Evidently the default setting by Apple is ON...  Oh well.  I hope that this kills that problem.

  • Calendar app in iOS folder displays date wrong

Every time I check the date by looking at the calendar app, it will show the incorrect date (off by 1 sometimes 2 days) until the folder is opened. I know this is a persistent problem as I can recreate it everyday knowing the date will be off the same amount. Any tips?

  • Is the Podcasts app eating my mobile data?

I'm using my iPod Touch 5th gen, iOS 7.0.3, with a mobile hotspot.  I suspect that the Podcasts app is eating up my mobile data by downloading podcasts in the background or something, since I seem to have gone through my data especially quickly lately, and I've been careful.
I've turned off "automatic downloads" under settings: Podcasts, and of course "use cellular data" is off.  Is there something else that could be downloading stuff in the background?
How do I get the podcasts to work the way they used to by default--download to computer at home, then transfer to the iPod when connected to said computer?

What is Refresh set to? If set to Manual it will prevent automatically updating the with newly added content. The iCloud symbol will not show that a new episode is available.
Setting Auto-Download to Off prevent auto downloading of new episodes.
Are you automatically download new mail messages?
With wifi on, you will use some data since the iPod is connecting to the internet to check for thins but not necessarily download. You may get notifications
Do you have automatic app updates turned don in Settings>iTunes and App Store

  • Use Mobile Data For: Settings - Why does Settings need a cellular data connection?

    iPhone 5 iOS 8.1
Settings > Mobile > Use Mobile Data For: Settings
Just curious, why does the iPhone need this turned on? Why does the settings app need a cellular mobile data connection?
If you turn it off, you're pestered to turn it on every time you go into settings?

Because, that's the way Siri works...it needs an Internet connection...requests are sent to Apple's servers. No Internet, no Siri.

    my mobile is nokia C7

You could try to check if it's a specific app that opens the mobile data connection. Select Settings > Connectivity > Connection manager and long press the mobile data connection and select Details, You should then be able to see in Apps the application that is using the mobile data connection.

  • Does calendar app need to be open for iCloud sync?

    Hi @all,
I was just wondering the following about the sync function with iCloud: When I add a new calendar entry on my MacBook will it be pushed automatically to my iPhone from the cloud without having the actual calendar app open on the iPhone? I am asking because I am not frequently connected to a data network so what happens with this new entry in my calendar? Let's say I connect to a data network but don't open the calendar app. I leave the data network connection open for a while and then close it. After closing the data network connection I open the calendar app but the new entry does not appear. Will the new entry be synced to my iPhone only when I open the calendar app and only when I am connected to a data network at the same time?
    Thanks
    Martin

Define background.  Do you mean the app open but minimized or app is actually not open.  I have photos in my dock for quick access.  It is closed and does not have the dot underneath showing it is open but minimized.  If the app is completely closed is iCloud working in the background upload/downloading photos?

  • Uninstalled apps using mobile data

    Hey,
I got an iphone 5C a couple weeks ago, and had no problems whatsoever. I uninstalled an app (temple run oz) last night because it froze, along with a few other apps, but having checked my mobile data section in my settings, it says that uninstalled apps are using 89mb of my mobile data - I only have 500mb for a month, how on earth do I stop uninstalled apps from eating up all my allowances?
    Thank you

I believe it was used before the apps got deleted. You an do a reset statistics and if you don't delete anymore apps, it should remain in 0. My still remains at 250 mb and I haven't deleted anymore apps.so if you monitor your cellular data usage and the data for uninstalled apps remains the same. You are good to go.

since doing the 7.0.4 update i notice that my mobile data has doubled and i am running out of data mid month.  I've disabled apps s not many running.  Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue even with the newer 7.1. I have a 1-100 KB data push on both my husdand's and my phone every hour on the hour (i.e. my will be at :23 of the hour and his will be at :13 of the hour and it will change). This is whether we are on a WIFI and with all apps, background refreshes, push notifications, etc turned OFF.

  • Calendar app wrong date/days

i have a fully updated iphone 5. My calendar app is showing the date on the wrong day of the week from January 2015 onwards. In yearly view it is OK but is wrong in monthly view. Also in monthly view September 2014 is missing and I have 2 x October 2014. Can anybody help????

    Hey Naomi1111,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing a weird issue with the calendar application on your iPhone 5. To troubleshoot, let’s first try restarting the Calendar application:
iOS: Force an app to close

Next, let’s check your Date & Time settings to make sure they are configured correctly:

And finally, if your issue persists, we’ll want to back up and restore your iPhone as new:

  • Why does calendar app icon show current date, but weather app icon does not?

i.e. At time of writing this post, the calendar app icon shows "Sunday 16" but the weather one always always always shows "23 degrees"
Is there a way of fixing this inconsistency in the UI?

I now realise that this has been asked previously, only the 'previously asked?' search didnt' pick it up for me.
Yes I understand the issues about how 'live' it needs to be, but surely you should have the option of picking this? Most people are connected 'all the time' anyway, so so what if there is a tiny bit of weather data flying about?

  • Calendar app icon is displaying the wrong date

For some reason on my iPhone's homescreen the icon for the Calendar app has today started displaying the wrong date.
It should show today's date, Monday 6th but instead it reads Sunday 5th.
What confuses me is that the phone does know the date is Monday 6th as the lock screen shows it correctly and also when I actually load the Calendar app it starts on the right date. Also, when I load the multi task bar the Calendar app icon there is correct. See the attached photo, which shows the Calendar app on the home screen (faded, middle left) displaying yesterdays date Sunday 5th, while the app icon in the multi task bar is correct, Monday 6th.
Syncing the calendar with my iMac does not correct the error. Equally, turning the phone off and on again has not sorted it.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the fault? And more importantly how to correct it?
    Thanks.

  • How to go quickly to a date in the future in Calendar app

i've got my iPhone since almost 3 years and the only thing (really!) that keeps me longing to my Nokia 6210 is the fact that if i want to schedule an appointment in let's say this time next year, i have to go to month view and than skip month by month for ages. Nokia just let you do 'go to date' > tap 2/22/2014 > done.
i hope that this is a stupid question and that somebody tells me what's the workaround NOW!
ps: i'm NOT looking for jailbreak solutions. good for you, not dissing, but i'm not interested, thanks for understanding.
much thanks in advance for your help

I am not familiar with a way to do it in the Calendar app itself on the iPhone. It is easier to do on an iPad with the Year pane. But a 3rd party app like Fantastical lets you do any date that you wish on the fly.
