Calendar App shortcut

Ok, let's be intuitive here. If there's a great and convenient back swipe gesture on the Pre,
which I love, why not use it? For instance, in the Calendar app (which I again love), If I go:
Month view -> Week view -> Day view
I should be able to back up incrementally using the back swipe. As of now, the app just pulls
out the card view (desktop?) in any view!
I plan on making a patch of this when I have time, but it should be included in the main repos.
since it only makes complete sense, and my finger just does it naturally.
* Yes, I know that the menu at the bottom of the screen shows each view, but that's a pain to
wait for to come up, and it makes less sense than the gestures. They can both coexist anyways.

now try to fing out an address. Open contact, you see name, phone ok. But if you want to see a flat number, you must switch to edit mode, becouse of you see only "Crazy Revolution s..." and nothing more. That is realy bad. This is concern to any other field - name, phone, email etc. And what is worse, you cannot cancel editing and cancel changes. You can you save changes and revert info before editing. Realy bad design and user interface.
btw, i havnt Outlook on my home PC, i dont need this monster
and PC Suite dont allow me to edit contacts.....

I love my E71's features (apart from the missing 3.5mm jack) and have got my widgets nicely installed, but am starting to get a little frustrated with some of the ignorant functionality decisions by Nokia.
I'm not a heavy widget user, but 6 app shortcuts on the home screen is certainly not enough space.
The iPhone has something like 20 on each page - and don't mention the 'Mode' function on the E71, we all know it's complete rubbish. I'm not waiting 5 seconds to switch modes everytime I decide to use a particular app. shortcut, so that's been replaced with another app.
However, I still need a second row of app. shortcuts on my screen.
It's my phone, I should have the choice to decide how I utilize its screen - and I refuse to believe that adding this feature would take more than a few minutes for a Nokia software engineer to program.
Does anyone know of a way to do this?

I can't say this is a great solution, but it might help. I can't agree about the efficiency point - fair enough most iPhone users are below average intelligence and therefore think beer drinking simulations are a valuable use of memory, but I could well use another row of app. shortcuts and think the 'Mode' system is a timewasting gimmick.
The N97 is the only Nokia phone I would have over this, but as a student I'm not paying twice as much per month for a few more features.
I have shortcuts for Opera, Google Maps, YouTube, iPlayer, Facebook and MSN and would like to have some office features too.
I have reassigned my calendar button (I use a filo-fax) so a short push brings up active notes and a long push brings up voice recorder, which helps.
It does annoy me how easily Nokia could remedy this limitation though. 5/6 shortcuts is NOT efficient!

Calendar.app not showing First Day of Week selected in iCal

I have selected Monday as the first day of the week in iCal. After syncing, Calendar.app on my iPhone 4 does not show Monday as first day of week. My original iPhone 2G (3.1.3, jailbroken) does show the correct start day, Monday.)
I do not need assistance with my iPhone 2G. I need a solution for my iPhone 4.
How do I get my iPhone 4 to be in sync with my other calendars?

That's a real pain. I'm in Australia and the regional settings have Monday as the first week, which throws me out because all my calendars and even settings in iCal have Sunday as the first day of the week (which is what it's supposed to be). To get what I want, I have to set my country as New Zealand, and this messes up my phone number formats (closest to Australia than any of the others that start the week correctly though). It should be an option in the settings!

Calendar app stuck on year view

iPhone 4S running OS 8.1 - Calendar app stuck in year view. Shows todays date in red but when you try to go to "Today" nothing happens. Any thoughts?

There is more than one place to change time. If you set the time to local, you need to go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>scroll down to the bottom under calendar and set the time zone support there for the local time zone.

How to Hide Timezone in Month View in Calendar App?

I live in two timezones and go back and forth often so I use the timezone support in Calendar app for Mavericks and on my iOS devices and it's quite useful. However, one thing about it really stinks, imho.
I cannot find a way to hide the timezone information associated with individual events in the month view of the Calendar desktop application. This redundant and superfluous information results in the truncation of the event information, which *is* important to me.
For example, instead of an event in month view being displayed as "check amex payment", as it was before I enabled timezone support, it now says "check a... 3AM GMT+7". Since every event has this appended timezone information displayed next to it the month view of my calendar has become much less useful than it was previously. I don't really need to know how many hours ahead of GMT an event is, I pretty much just want to know what the event is and on what day, in the month view. Now I cannot tell what any event is unless I open it in in week or day view. Very frustrating.
If anyone knows of a way to hide that information in the month view it would be greatly appreciated to post it here.

Try my application Dates to iCal. it runs on the Mac, but you can sync the calendar to your iOS device.

If it is an app compatibility issue - it IS the app developers responsibility to make sure that they update their apps in order to work with the new iOS. Apple owes no users a warning whatsoever. Common sense tells me that a very old app that has not been updated for the last two iOS updates just might not make the grade in the third iOS release since the app came out.

I have the same problem, I tried the solution of Dr Cox but that didn't work as he said go to system preference then mail, contacts etc. but I don't have that. Can someone help?

After I upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.2, calendar app won't open

I recently upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.2 on my mac. After the upgrade i cannot open my calendar. I get a message that my mac does not dsupport this app. Can anyone tell me where I can find out what kind of mac would support the calendar app. Is there something I csn do on this computer. I am on an imac 3.2 GHz Intel core i3 with 8 GB of memory.

Please use Finder to locate your Applications folder, then the Calendar app there. Control-click on the Calendar app and choose "Get Info". What version number is shown there? It should be 7.0.
If it is 7.0, click on the Calendar app you just located in the Applications folder. Does it open? If so, drag the old Calendar app off your dock (which will remove it), and drag this one from your Applications folder to the dock (which will add it there). That should solve your issue.

ICloud / Calendar app keeps changing my calendar colors

I just noticed this happening two days ago, the calendar app on my iphone and macbook is changing the colors of my calendars at random. They're only cycling between two colors for each of the 3 calendars (the original color, green, orange, purple and the changed color of blue and purple). I have no idea why it's doing this. No one else has access to my icloud account, and so far I have not noticed any loss of data. I've backed everything up. The same thing is happening on my iphone as well.
OSX 10.8.4, Cal version 6.0 (1648)
It's more of a nuisiance, but I don't want to lose appointments if this is a sign of something else going on. Any ideas?

All of my schedule is missing from the calendar app. Why and how do I fix it?

I only noticed at the beginning of this week, but my entire calendar is empty. I didn't have it separated into different parts or anything else special. It is now just an empty blank and it won't allow me to input any new data. I have had everything re-synced, un-synced and re-synced, each time completely exiting the app. I have also turned it off and turned it back on. What else could be done to fix this problem?

Try this: In the Calendar app, tap Calendars at bottom center. Make sure "Show all calendars" is checked.

Why does my wife's calendar app ask for the password to my calendar account?

My wife and I used to have iPhone 4's. We each have a Google calendar, and we had our calendar apps set up so that each iphone would show both calendars. We never had any trouble.
Recently my wife and I switched to iPhone 5c's. Since then, whenever my wife tries to enter something into the calendar, the app asks for the password to my account. I don't have that problem on my phone. I'm pretty sure the phone apps are set up the same way. What gives?

It is possible that those 2 calendars are syncing Google accounts and being shared. My friend shares her calendar with me and it shows up in my calendar.

No, you cannot downgrade the software. However, you can take a look at apps like Week Cal, Fantastical, Tempo.
