Calendar application icon??

I could have sworn I saw on the Apple website that the calendar icon would show a small number corresponding to the number of appointments you had for that day, but mine doesn't show that. Was I dreaming or does it actually do it on other Iphones? Perhaps it only works with Mobile Me??

So far I have only seen it occur with Microsoft Exchange accounts.
But you can try going to Settings - Mail,Contacts,Calenders
Then look for New Invitation alerts and turn it on. See if that allows it

  • My iphoto library folder with files of my pictures is missing from the pictures folder, only the application icon remains.  I have read through similar discussions but have not managed to fix the problem with the recommended solutions.  Can anyone help?

I have a Macbook Pro with iphoto '08 running on Mac OS X version 10.5.8.  I used to be able to go to my pictures folder on my HD and access my pictures via that iphoto library folder.  There used to be a small arrow next to the iphoto icon with all the albums then listed within the folder (to the right).  That arrow is now gone and all I have is the iphoto application icon which just reopens iphoto when I click on it, but I want to be able to access the data files.  Somehow I do have files btwn 2008 and 2009 but it hasn't created these since then...Could someone please help me to restore this ability?  I have read other similar posts but they seem to be related to lost data all together and I do luckily have all my pictures in iphoto still. I just can't access them in the pictures folder which means I can't access them on my external hard drive.  I am now out of start up disc space somehow so I figured I had to delete some albums (I have 12,090 pictures) and do have them backed up but want to make sure I can go back for them when I need them.  I did export all the pictures to a folder on the hard drive but it is all 12,090 in one long list with only numbers as names and not in any order, this will be a nightmare to access later!  Please help!  Thank you!

You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto.
That indicates that that is your library.  Put it in your Pictures folder if it already isn't there and make sure it's named "iPhoto Library".  It should look like this:
    Now launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select that library to open.  If you get that same message close iPhoto and try the following;
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I have recently upgraded to mountain lion and I can not get the calendar application to work. I con appears on the side put on calendars. Any suggestions

I have recently upgrades to Mountain Lion and I can not get the calendar utility to come alive. Icon appears in the tast bar but the application does not launch or appear to be any where else. Any suggestion?

Did you look in the Applications folder for Calendar? If it is there, remove the item that is in the Dock and replace it by dragging the Calendar application to the Dock.
If it is not there, did you have iCal located somewhere other than the Applications folder when you upgraded?

  • My calendar application will not open.

My calendar application will not open. Any suggestions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • ICal date in application icon in dock is broken

The iCal date that gets updated in the iCal application icon that sits in the dock is not working properly for me. The date is never aligned correctly. The black number is always positioned too high vertically and overlaps the red month area. I've checked iCal on other friend's machines (same OS, Leopard) and theirs display perfectly. Any idea why mine is out of whack? Please see screenshot below.
The same thing is happening to the calendar widget on my dashboard too, so it appears as though it's some system wide bug/issue.

    evolution75,
How on earth did you figure that out?!
I am a regular visitor to this Forum, and the problem you described is not rare.
How do I now go about removing duplicates?
    Just two simple steps:
    1. In Font Book, select the version of the font family that you want to use.
    2. Choose Edit > Resolve Duplicates.

  • The itunes application icon on my dock does not bring up itunes.  Haven't had a problem with this in the past.

The itunes application icon on my dock does not bring up itunes.  I have no problem accessing itunes from my iphone though, so I believe it is computer related rather than an itunes issue.  Haven't had this problem before.

Does the icon in your dock look like this?
Can you open iTunes successfully from your Mac's Applications folder?
Are you running the current version of iTunes (11.2.2)?  If not, get it from here:

  • Application icon doesn't open

Today out of the blue Photoshop will no longer maximize a window minimized to the application icon.
I have tried resetting the .plist file and resetting Photoshop neither have solved the problem.
I can long click on the icon and see and open the minimized window like Expose but that's the only way I can maximize the window.
All other apps work fine. It's just Photoshop.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • App-v 5.0 sp3 Publish application icons/ shourtcut missed on 2nd time logon on terminal server 2012 r2 with roaming profile with folder redirection

    1. I updated app-v 5.0 sp3 environment on 2012 R2. Roaming profile users with folder redirection logon fine at first time applications icons available but at 2nd logon applicaitons icons are missed while packages are available. we are using existing
roaming profiles with folder redirection which are running in current environment through APP-V 4.6 2008 R2. Please suggest work around to resolve this issue.
    2. TS Nodes of 2008 R2 with App-v 4.6 running fine on Microsoft 2012 private cloud but we are facing performance issue (stuck, slow logon, slow performance etc) when we are moving in new 2012 R2 private cloud. SAP, SCSM and other sevices are running
    fine, please provide solution.
    Thanks

1.) What are you doing with the App-V Icon path? e.g. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\<GUID>\Root\AppVClientUX.exe.0.ico ?
I guess you could workaround it with deploying the icons to a central location and then pointing to the icon out on a central share. Or put the icons in a machine location...I haven't had this issue but that's just off the top of my head.
2.) I have not used App-V 4.6 in an environment like yours BUT would pre-caching the applications be possible? Any chance you'll be moving those apps into App-V 5.0 soon?

  • Get Rid of 'Would You Like to make iCal Your default calendar application'

Since installing the Plaxo 'helper' / Pref Pane - I now get the following message every time I launch iCal (and Address Book) ...
'Would you like to make iCal your default calendar application?'
Even when selecting 'Make Default' it still asks the next time. Is there a setting in com.apple.ical.plist (or similar) that controls this that I can look at, or is there a terminal command to try setting this another way?
I'm bothered a) why I get this at all - suspect Plaxo b) why I can't just set this the once. Any help gratefully received.
If it is Plaxo monitoring and then setting/changing a flag on the fly it's soon going to be heading for the trash....

OK, here I am answering my own question... It turns out there's another Discussion which has the following solution:
I had the same message pop-up. I quite iCal and then went to ~/Library/Preferences and trashed the apple.ical preference [plist]. After that, I re-launched iCal and checked the box in the message box and it took that time.
I tried this... we'll see if it works for me.

  • Calendar app icon is stuck on date of upgrade

Since upgrading on Saturday to Yosemite, the calendar app icon is stuck on Saturdays date (8 NOV), but if I open the calendar the correct date is highlighted (Nov 11).   I have tried quitting and restarting calendar but that doesn't do anything   Oh and it is still asking for a password to my google account every time (really irritating).
    N.B. I am NOT technical!!!

Thanks for the suggestion DaVBMan, sadly it didn't work. The only thing that did work was to wait until midnight and it corrected itself. In the mind of the phone it lived a whole day twice and then skipped one completely in order to get back on track. Very odd and also I have since discovered it has happened to a few of my friends too.
It's not happened again so I have no idea what so ever what caused it. Fingers crossed it never recurs.

  • Why does calendar app icon show current date, but weather app icon does not?

i.e. At time of writing this post, the calendar app icon shows "Sunday 16" but the weather one always always always shows "23 degrees"
Is there a way of fixing this inconsistency in the UI?

I now realise that this has been asked previously, only the 'previously asked?' search didnt' pick it up for me.
Yes I understand the issues about how 'live' it needs to be, but surely you should have the option of picking this? Most people are connected 'all the time' anyway, so so what if there is a tiny bit of weather data flying about?

  • Calendar app icon is displaying the wrong date

For some reason on my iPhone's homescreen the icon for the Calendar app has today started displaying the wrong date.
It should show today's date, Monday 6th but instead it reads Sunday 5th.
What confuses me is that the phone does know the date is Monday 6th as the lock screen shows it correctly and also when I actually load the Calendar app it starts on the right date. Also, when I load the multi task bar the Calendar app icon there is correct. See the attached photo, which shows the Calendar app on the home screen (faded, middle left) displaying yesterdays date Sunday 5th, while the app icon in the multi task bar is correct, Monday 6th.
Syncing the calendar with my iMac does not correct the error. Equally, turning the phone off and on again has not sorted it.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the fault? And more importantly how to correct it?
    Thanks.

  • No supported calendar application in iTunes for iPod Touch

    Hello everyone,
Right now I'm having trouble syncing my calendar on my iPod touch. I'm using iTunes 7.4.3 and I have Outlook 2003 installed on my computer, but iTunes says "No supported calendar application can be found." in the Calendar section on the info tab. I've tried restoring my Touch several times, in addition to removing / reinstalling iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support several times, and now I'm at a loss.
The weird thing is, I had a 1st gen nano hooked up to this computer as well, and for that iPod, iTunes could detect Outlook just fine. I have no idea why this is happening with my iPod Touch. Any help?

I am facing your problem too. My iTunes seems do not recognize my Outlook 2002 SP3. I am using Traditional Chinese Edition on WinXP SP2 T.Chinese platform. Is it the cause of this problem? Hope that anyone can help us.

  • How can my application icons draw slowly?

I'm trying to trouble shoot how it's possible that my new MP 5,1 is slow to draw simple application icons when first opening the Applications folder, I see generic icons until they resolve to the actual ones.
My previous MP1,1 with dual 8-Core upgrade never did this and this machine, Apple assures me that my new MP while only a single Quad core is a faster processor, with faster RAM and a faster Graphics Card (Radeon HD 5770).
I’m running 10.7.5 Lion but when I boot off my Snow Leopard drive (kept for needed legacy non-Lion apps), this redraw issue doesn’t happen, which I assume implies this is a software vs. hardware issue?
AppleCare suggests I do a clean install on my Lion drive, which I haven’t done over several OS upgrades, which I really should do regardless as my system software is quite the Frankenstein conglomeration by now.
But I’m still wondering, if part of the issue might be my graphics card is inadequate in the Lion environment plus running 2 monitors and should I either get a 2nd 5770 card to have a separate card for each monitor, or maybe get a 5870 for the HP 30″ monitor and use the 5770 for my Cinema Display (which is more for holding extra Desktop files and tools windows from various apps both of which are low level use).
Or is the Radeon card I’ll conceived and to do it “right” I need to swap out to a higher faster card(s).
    SPECS: 3.2 Quad Core, stock Radeon HD 5770 – running a 30″ HP LP3065 & good old 22″ Cinema Display, Lion 10.7.5
I’m also wondering if I goofed not getting the 3.3 GHz 6-Core processor instead of going with stock 3.2 Quad Core?
Or since the Snow Leopard drive draws fine with no lag time, that this is in fact probably a problem with my Lion drive and a clean install should speed things up?

Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Change Application Icon Size in iTunes.

Can anyone tell me how to change the size of the application icons in iTunes so I wouldn't have to scroll and see them all at once?
    Thanks

I haven't found a way. Maybe you can talk Apple into this for the next upgrade.
