  • Calendar appointments cut off notes - syncing error?

My calendar appointments cut off the notes to just under 500 characters on random appointments - how can I make sure the full notes sync? I am syncing my Microsoft Exchange Calendar between an iPhone (iOS 8.2), iPad and Outlook on a desktop (Office 2013 v15.0.4701.1002).  Several coworkers have the same issue with varying frequency of occurance.

Well, I feel like an idiot, but sometimes the biggest problems have the simplest solutions. I actually did not have my PC set to adjust for daylight savings time. So I turned it on, then had to manually set the clock back an hour. Now the appointments in Outlook are at the correct time and when I sync my iPhone it no longer moves ahead one hour after.
Thank you very much for your help.

Usually applications will install and then fail later if there is a compatibility problem with the Intel processors. This is the first application I've seen that simply won't install. Any ideas?

  • "Search for" results not shown in list view

    Hello,
I just installed Leopard a few days ago, and so far I'm very happy.
The ony oddity I noticed today was that "Search for" results (the default searches in the pane on the left side) are not shown in list view.
    What happens is this:
    - I open a finder window in list view.
    - I click e.g. on "Search for" - "All documents".
    - The status bar on the bottom of the finder window says e.g. "1789 objects", but the actual window is empty (although it has a very long scrollbar). If I click somewhere in the empty space, info for an actual file is shown - as if the files were there, just shown in white letters on white background. I can also type in the search field, and the status bar updates accordingly, but again, no files show up.
Icon and Coverflow views, however, do work.
    - If I switch from Icon to List view, a file list is shown for the fraction of a second, then disappears.
This is not an end-of-the-world-bug for me, but still pretty annoying.
Any idea what might be the problem here? I have no exotic software installed that could cause trouble; just QuickSilver and the usual productivity apps.
    Thanks!

The problem disappeared a few launches later . ..

  • Calendar Reminders for events that don't appear in Calendar

    Hi,
We have a user who created a number of calendar appointments for a shared Calendar.  He receives reminders for these, but the appointments don't appear in the shared calender (or his calendar) and no other members of his team who have access to the
calendar receive the reminders.  When the reminder pops up, he can view the appointment and it appears normal - it just doesn't show in the calendar.
The appointments are very important and we need to somehow restore the corresponding calendar entries so that they're viewable to him and his team, and reminders are recieved by everyone.
I'm aware of the /cleanreminders switch but can't find anything to allay my fears that these reminders won't be seen as "rogue" and deleted leaving us with no record of the reminders.
I've used the scanpst tool against the ost files he uses, although I've been advised the scan may need to be run several times so waiting to schedule this in with the user.
Worst case scenario is that the reminders are accidently deleted and there is no record of these at all, at least at the moment, one person receives these so they're not running completely blind.
Anyone else had this or have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi,
Outlook.exe /cleanreminders switch will clear and regenerate reminders.
Does this problem occurred for just one user?
I suggest the following several methods to check this issue.
Open outlook with command: outlook.exe /cleanviews, this command will restore default views. All custom views you created are lost.
    Switch outlook to online mode.
    Check in OWA.
    Best Regards.

Thanks for your replies.  The reservation I have around the /cleanreminders switch is that effectively, the notifications are fine (they appear when they should) - but it's the underlying appointment which isn't showing (unless the reminder pops up
and you open the item). Will the reminders be regenerated if the actual appointment doesn't appear?  Or will they disappear too?
Only one user gets these notifications, he created the appointments in the shared calendar.  The notificiations and the appointments don't show in OWA  - I'd expect the same with Outlook in online mode.
The worst thing to happen is lose all trace of these appointments.
    Kind Regards,
    Paul

  • Private calendar appointments?, private calendar appointments?

I really like the ios5 update on my iphone 4, but there is still one integration issue with outlook calendars that I either cannot fiture out or is not present. That is, how can one create an appointment on an iphone that shows up as private when synched to my workplaces outlook calendar?

If you Google "can't mark an appointment private on iPhone/iPad/iOS" you will find that there are thousands and thousands of people that are asking for this feature since 2008, and Apple seems resolved to ignore the outcry.
The point of the feature, and the reason calendar collaboration actually *works* as a practical matter, is to allow people who you share your calendar with to see that you're busy at a certain time of day.  In plenty of cases, the details are private (a doctor's appointment, travel reservation details, a romantic getaway with your spouse, your mom's birthday, your anniversary, etc.)
Why won't Apple add this incredibly important and useful feature to the calendar? Is there some strategic decision at work here?  If so, it's above my pay grade; iOS is beloved and adopted by millions of people.
Millions of people use MS Exchange at work.  iOS, in fact, integrates beautifully with Exchange in almost every other way.  Apple does not have a corporate groupware product that competes with Exchange.  So why not remove one of the last barriers holding people back from ditching BlackBerries, or for that matter, using their iPads at work n a more meaningful way?  It's really puzzling.
There are dozens of other forums with this exact same sentiment. We know that Apple loves the user and values the quality of their experience.
Please, we, the users, implore you, Finish this last mile for us. Add the "Private" checkbox to calendar appointments for Exchange calendars. Or at least do us the courtest of responding with an answer as to why you won't.

In the fields to record appointments in the calendar (with Exchange) is a private event can be defined in this way in a single calendar shared a commitment is visible but not the content.
why not 'possible to iphone 4s?
    What can in Android?

  • How to export a user's Calendar Appointments in Powershell from Exchange Server

    Exchange 2010 sp3 w/hybrid Configuration:  Current User is On-Premise
    1. Is it possible to retrieve all calendar appointments for a particular user from the on-premise exchange servers using powershell?
    2. If item 1 is possible, can we track a user appointment - meaning that if someone where to delete the appointment the report can show us who deleted the appointment by using powershell to generate this report?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Base on my knowledge, I don't think it is possible.
However, as a workaround, you can use powershell to recover all deleted items in a particular user:
PowerShell: Script to recover all deleted items in a mailbox
In addition, I recommend you post this in Powershell Forum
also, as they should have more professional knowledge on scripting and you may get effective solution timely.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

I just bought a new mac mini and an external DVD burner. I want to burn a DVD video and it will not play on the TV but only on the computer? Need this figured out for tomorrow. Can anyone help me?

Congratulations on the new Mini. Are you saying you tried burning and it does not play, or do you want to burn it only for the computer to be able to play it?
OS X Mountain Lion: Burn a CD or DVD may help.

  • Alerts for recurring calendar appointments do not go off

Does anyone else have this issue?  I have a bunch of recurring calendar events, set up in Outlook 2010, which the iPhone 4 used to show alerts for.  Now (not sure when this started, but w/in last few months) there aren't any alerts even though I can see "1 day before" in the iPhone Calendar app for the recurring event.  I even made a slight change to the recurring event in hopes of getting them back on track but no luck.  Thanks.

I'm having the exact same issue with my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.3, 4.3.4 and 4.3.5). I'm a new user (this is my first iPhone, bought one month ago), so I can't comment on earlier iOS versions. In the one month that I have the phone, I'm absolutely sure that I have never had an alert from a recurring event. I only noticed it a couple of weeks ago. I'm only using all-day events (for anniversaries, etc.), so I'm not sure if the same applies to other types of events.
I have made several tests and I can confirm that no alerts are generated for recurring all-day events. Something is seriously messed up in the Calendar App algorithms. At first I thought it had to do with MS Outlook 2007, whose calendar is synced with the iPhone. But when I create a recurring all-day event directly on the iPhone I get exactly the same behaviour (no alert, no pop-up, no sound, nothing). I can see the event on Calendar on the iPhone, and I can also see the alert settings (the time it should be generated, e.g., "Alert: 2 hours before"). So everything looks OK on the iPhone, but the alerts are never generated. I also did a test with a non-recurring all-day event, and everything worked fine (I got the alert pop-up and sound at the time I specified). This means that it's something specific to recurring events. Finally, I restored the iPhone to factory defaults and tried again by creating a recurring event directly on the untouched, factory-reset iPhone. Same thing, no alerts, no pop-ups, no sound, nothing.
This is clearly a serious bug in the Calendar App and I'm very surprised that Apple has not released an update to fix it. Also, I couldn't find much information on the Internet about this issue. That's why I'm replying to this thread, to let you and others know that you are not alone. I asked a friend of mine who is running iOS 5 Beta 2 and he said that everything works fine, so I guess we'll have to wait for iOS 5 to fix the issue.
I hope this helps someone out there. If anyone running iOS 4.3.3 or later is having the same problem, please reply here. Most of all, I hope that the guys at Apple read this and do something about it.

  • Google calendar appointments not showing on iPhone calendar

All my Google calendar appointments used to show up on my iPhone's calendar. Now they are not showing up on my iphone's calendar. What is interesting is that appointments made prior to last week are showing up on the calendar. However, apppointments made in Google calendar after last week are NOT showing up on my iPhone calendar.
Any suggestions on how to make this work? It used to work and then something strange happened ...

MAGIC happened for me as well.
    Here's what I did:
    (1) I added the Google calendar using the CALDAV option - i.e., go to Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendar and then choose Add Calendar. Here is a link to the instructions I followed:
    http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=151674&ctx=cb&src=cb &cbid=-1g0evm93kqt46&cbrank=3
Here are the steps that I followed:
To sync with your device, follow these steps:
Open the Settings application on your device's home screen.
    Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select Add Account...
    Select Other.
    Select Add CalDAV Account.
    Enter your account information:
In the Server field, enter [ google.com ]
In the Username field, enter your full Google Account or Google Apps email address.
In the Password field, enter your Google Account or Google Apps password.
In the Description field, enter the name you'd like to appear on the account.
Select Next at the top of your screen.
After you've completed setup, open the Calendar app on your device and syncing will automatically begin.
After this, there were 2 entries in my iphone calendar for every gmail calendar appointment - i.e., each entry appeared twice. So, I deleted the calendar I had just added following the advice above and now everything works.
Strange behavior but I am glad that my gmail calendars are now appearing in my iphone.

  • Fix calendar timezones for appointments made prior to timezone change?

I have been tasked with building some new Citrix servers.
One of our test users is in another time zone and was using our old citrix environment.
He had a number of appointments that he had made in his calendar.
For some reason the policy I had set for taking the time zone information from the clients system did not take effect and as he was the only outside tester, he didn't tell me for nearly a week.
Now I have the policy working in Citrix, and the time zone is working for all NEW appointments  - however all OLDER appointments made prior, including the ones that were set on the OLD citrix system (which was not having the time zone problem) are all
stuck to the local time zone of our main branch.
Is there a powershell command or exchange setting I can set for this individual to retro-actively re-set all his calendar objects back to his appropriate time zone?
Our environment: Mix of Server 2012 R2 and Server 2008 R2
    Email Server: Exchange 2010
    Email/Calendar Client: Outlook 2010

It's alright, just before the end of my shift last night I found a "solution"
There is a tool offered by Microsoft to that will allow the user to fix settings for their outlook in relation to time zone. Once installed it has two options - 1) User is permanent moved to a new time zone, and 2) Time zone fix patch.  It
was a matter of choosing the first option, selecting the incorrect timezone, selecting the correct time zone, and it completed it in no time.
Its difficult to explain, but it worked - at least it fixed his outlook calendar.
The app is called Microsoft Office Outlook Time Zone Move
    64 bit -
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=16271
    32 bit -
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=17291
It installs to the start menu.
As I our users connect to server via Citrix, it was necessary for me to do this on the connecting/destination server itself where the application is hosted.
You will also need to be logged in and run this AS THE AFFECTED USER, with administrative rights (right click, run as administrator). Even though it gives you an option to select a user, it didn't work right for me.
Also note, I had tracked down the GPO that was causing a bit of a flip flop with my Citrix settings in regards to time zone redirection - it was located in a GPO that was at a higher level with timezone redirection turned to disabled,  I had it enabled
in the GPO governing our terminal servers, and the setting was active in Citrix Delivery Sevices Console. What resulted was the time zone flip flopping between Central Standard Time (where our servers are located) and Eastern Time (where this client was located).
This was happening for a day or two until I figured this out. Really didn't make any sense because order of operations should have had it work or not work, not bounce somewhere in between.  Set the time zone redirection to not-configured
in the offending GPO, and blamo. It's been working solid for the client for the past 5 hours now and he says the issue is fixed, so I'm chalking it up to that as its really the only thing I've changed so far.
