Calendar backup stuck in a loop

I am trying to backup my Calendar from my MacBook Pro to my iPad through iCloud. It has ran all afternoon and again this morning and I cannot stop it. I think it is stuck in a loop. I have tried force quit and turning the computer off but when I turn it back on it is still trying to do it. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a problem with your library. Go to applications in finder and double click iMovie app while holding down the option key. You should get a dialog box which allows you to choose another library to open. If you don't have another library you can create one here and iMovie should open for you.

  • Time Machine Backup Stuck in a Loop?

Since upgrading to ML I've noticed that my Time Machine backup icon seems to be in constant motion.  I've also noticed that it never seems to be backing up as it's been stuck at "427kb of 479mb" for the past hour.  I'm backing up to a Time Capsule and can access the time capsule just fine.

After installing the new hard drive in my macbook, I once again booted up from the install disc and told it to restore my hard drive using my last time machine backup (which was created one day before the initial crash). Once again, the computer got stuck on the grey startup screen mentioned above.
    Two possible causes:
You used a Leopard install disk, instead of a +Snow Leopard+ one. All you needed to do was install Snow Leopard over it; but since you've now done other things, your best bet is to just do it over, using a Snow Leopard disc.
Whatever was going wrong with your internal HD damaged some things on your system, and that damage was backed-up, so is restored along with everything else. In that case, do it over, but select an earlier backup.

  • Time Machine backup stuck in endless loop.

I'm a MacBook Pro, 10.6.8 running Time Machine. Everything was fine until today, my browser crashed - got the "aw snap!" message in Chrome. Last time this happened it triggered a whole system wide crash which also corrupted my back-up disk. Crazy. I got a new hard drive put in, was able to remount the backup disc and restore all my stuff.
Today, the crash seemed restricted to the browser.  Restarted Chrome and everything working fine. Until my next backup, which went on and on and on and on. It would get to 100% and then start all over again. In my backup disc, the last file was an "in progrss" file. Thinking the presence of this might be causing the backups to keep going in a circle, I put it in the trash. Mistake. Now the trash wouldn't empty for anything!
So. I erased the backup disc, making the "in progress" file vanish from the trash - restarted, etc etc - reformatted the backup disc - all set to back up fresh. And: same problem. After 2+ hours, the backup looked complete when it started right at the begining again, leaving only an "in progress" file in the backup folder.
So what is wrong with Time Machine? What would cause this to happen?  Could whatever caused this weird browser crash have something to do with it?

  • IPad backup stuck in loop

Every time I try to backup my iPad it gets stuck in a loop - the iPad reboots itself and with apple logo it then disconnects only to do it all over again!
I have deleted the backups and reset sync history but nothing has worked.
    iPhone backs up fine.
    Help!

    Hi,
Disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall on your computer.
Restart your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

  • IMac froze, rebooted but finder stuck in crash loop...

I have an iMac 2007 running Mavericks. Recently it has started occasionally freezing where my mouse still moves around the screen but everything on the desktop is completely frozen. After holding the on/off switch to reboot it usually comes back on and opens the folders/programs that were already in use and all is well.
However, today was different....it froze while I was using Safari....so I held the on/off switch as usual to reboot and the usual pop-ups appeared, asking me to re-open programs etc. However, since then I can't get finder to open...I have a constant flashing message saying "Last time you opened finder, it unexpectedly quit while re-opening windows. do you want to try to re-open windows again. - It gives 2 options 'don't reopen and re-open'....but the box is continually flashing very second as though it is stuck in a loop....doesn't matter what I try to press, it does the same thing over and over. It means I can access anything on my dock but cannot see my desktop files or any other files on the hard drive. I haven't done a time machine backup for a long time so wary of my next move. Ironically, I just bought a new drive for time machine and this happened before I got the chance to do the backup!!! Typical.
Other useful info may be that I think I only have around 3gb of free memory space on my hard drive right now.
I am on version 10.9.4 of Mavericks and there is a software update available.....should I try to do the software update to see if it irons this problem out or is there anyway I can backup my hard drive first or any other way of accessing my hard drive/desktop files before I do anything?
I have seen this problem related to Google Drive before but I don't use that...unless it is installed somewhere on my system without me knowing and still causing the problem?
    Any help greatly appreciated....
    Thanks

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste topost the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Restoring calendar backup block iCal from sync

So, the issues with iCloud calendar never ends. After the beautiful discovery i did in my other post, now i'm trying to recover my calendar backup. When i restore my .icbu file, iCal restore all then it get stuck while trying to sync with iCloud. So now, it's my Mac that can't sync with the other devices.
I try recovering the entire directory in the library with time machine, but nothing. Deleting the .plist file and nothing again. It doesn't talk with iCloud anymore, if anybody have some idea, would be glad.

Ok, seems i've found a way to solve the problem. For what i know the problem is with iCal of Mavericks 10.9 that's the system i'm running now.
Issue: you were previously syncing you calendar with your iCloud ID (with mac/me/icloud domain) and for some reason now, you need to log in with another apple domain and you can't sync your calendar or restore your calendar backup done with your previous login.
    - go to iCloud panel in the preferences and disable the syncronization with iCal. It will delete all your calendar from your pc.
    - go to ~Library/Calendar and delete all the directory inside it. To be able to empty the trash you need to restart the computer.
    - after the restart open iCal again, you will start working locally. Create as many calendar you had in the past because you are going to move manually your old events over them.
    - now, go in the directory where you saved your iCal backup and right click on the file, and select "show content" of the package, or use timemachine to recover your old calendar directory always under ~library.
    - you will find a lot of directory name with letters and numers. Enter in the one that ends with ".caldav".
    - now: every other directory you find inside contains the events of each single old calendar you had before. To see what calendar are you looking at, open one directory and open the info.plist you find inside it.
    - on the bottom of the file you should be able to recognize the name of your calendar, so all your past events are in the directory "events" of the same directory.
    - select all the events and move them over the calendar you've created locally on iCal.
    - do this for each other calendar, you can forget all the others directory.
    - when you are finish, go back on the icloud panel and activate the iCal sync with iCloud and let the two calendar merge. It will take a lot of time, more than you expect. Just be patient, because for a few events on two calendar, mine took several minutes.
    - you are done, you should be able to sync everything again!
Remember that to be able to receive events and badge on the calendar of your iDevice, you need to use the original iCloud email you used at the moment you opened your account! No alias will work and even if you are like me an old mac.com members, neither me.com or icloud.com used in combination with your original username will work! They are like alias, with the difference that you can use them to log in your account!

  • Time Machine is stuck in a Loop

Time Machine seems to be stuck in a loop and hasn't backed up in 13 days. Here's the information:
    Name: Time Machine Backups
Available: 6.33 GB of 319.73 GB
    Oldest BackUp: July 19, 2009
    Latest Backup: October 15, 2009
_*Backing Up: ➊Calculating changes, ➋Cleaning up, ➌Making backup disk available*_
The last line goes from 1 to 2 to 3 then starts over. The Backup never occurs. I checked and both my MBP and the external drive are connected to the Airport Extreme wirelessly. I can even see the drive in Finder. I disconnected everything and restarted both the Airport Extreme and the drive. I then re-connected and the same thing keeps happening. I have a MBP 15in 2.66 Early 2009 and running OS X 10.6.1. I bought the Airport Extreme when they were first sold. All software is up to date.

*Ok I disconnected the TM drive from the Airport Extreme and connected it to my MBP. I ran Disk Utility on the TM using Repair Disk . It found errors and fixed them all. I re-connected the drive to the Airport Extreme and attempted another backup. Here is the log:*

  • Can't boot Classic from installation disk/stuck in Assistant loop

I have a Mac G4 on which I recently (and foolishly) decided to install the OX 10.0.4. The computer now is stuck in a loop in which it goes to Assistants (there are none to specify) and refuses to let me do anything else, including Force Quit, logout, or even shut down the machine without pressing the power button. I have even unplugged it and let it sit for a couple of hours with no effect. It will not boot from the installation disk of 9.2 by holding C at startup. I held down Ctrl and C at startup and arrived at a cursor and black screen, but I don't know what to do with that other than type exit and allow the computer to continue startup and its infernal loop sequence.
I have a G5 on which I'm running 10.4, so all I want to do is return to my happy world of the Classic environment on my G4. Any assistance will be helpful.

    jeffripple,
    1. About getting out of the Setup Assistant:
    • Will the Command + Period keys stop the Setup Assistant? (This is from OS 9. On some machines, that key combination will open or close the tray.)
    • Is there a Quit option under the File Menu at the top of the screen?
    • Is there an Assistants item in the Menu bar at the top of the screen?
    2. About getting the machine to boot from a CD:
    • What happens if you press Option - Command - Shift - Delete during startup to bypass primary startup volume and seek a different startup volume (such as a CD or external disk)?
See: Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts
    • Have you tried the steps in this link to see if it clearing the parameter RAM allows you to start up from an Operating System install CD which is capable of booting your machine?

iPhone 4S running OS 8.1 - Calendar app stuck in year view. Shows todays date in red but when you try to go to "Today" nothing happens. Any thoughts?

There is more than one place to change time. If you set the time to local, you need to go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>scroll down to the bottom under calendar and set the time zone support there for the local time zone.

  • How to recover ALOM Main Flash (ReFlash EPROM) ? -- ALOM stuck in a loop

    Hello,
I had an issue while flashing the ALOM Main Flash of a Sun Fire v210.
Now the ALOM boot is stuck in a loop trying to load the main ALOM image.
As a result the ALOM Main Flash is broken but I can still access the

Is there a way to recover it from Solaris and/or using the

Anybody knows if the source code of scadm tool is available somewhere ? (opensolaris etc. ?)
I don't have any additional advice to offer other than asking that you to try the flash-update all over again,
one more time, as if it were the beginning again.Yes but how because the SC is not discovered anymore by Solaris :
    "rmclomv: WARNING: DP_GET_SDP_VERSION failed, ret=4"
"The SC hardware could not be initialized."
Can you try to flash the mainalomfw ? Your log contained only the flash of the alombootfw !
    /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm download alommainfw
I guess jumper JP2 allows to recover from a failed flash by selecting the un-touched half the PROM.It does not work as the SC is not responding anymore to Solaris

scadm: The SC hardware could not be initialized.

    It's a pitty that obtaining OBP/ALOM updates requires a service contract. I got a V210 recently.
Unfortunately both OBP and ALOM are the intial release 4.8.2 / 1.0.I agree but it's probably also because you need support in case it fails ;-)
    Thanks for your answers!

  • Yo, Apple SysAdmins!!!! iTunes stuck in forever loop.

Answer your pagers. Answer your phones. Pay attention to the ASAP emails from the systems. iTunes Terms & Conditions page is stuck in a loop. Here I am, trying to spend money, and the system is hosed.
This is the one part of Apple support I find very underwhelming - that it's not possible to get in touch with Apple when it's very obvious there's a serious system problem. FAQs are irrelevant at this point.

Should have made this more clear....
Apple, the problem is on YOUR SIDE! It's a problem with Apple servers, not with anything on our side, not with OSX, unless, of course, the Apple servers are running OSX, not with our computers.
It's your problem. The longer it is broken, the less money comes into iTunes. So now you have iTunes customers annoyed. Soon you'll have iTunes developers annoyed.
Guess I'll go over to hulu.

  • How do I get rid of the Microsoft Setup Assistant loop? I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word, and stuck in a loop?

I migrated my software/documents from another laptop so don't have the disk to reinstall. Please help! Can't open any Microsoft Office software, like Word (for 2008), and stuck in a loop?
Whenever I select Word Microsoft Setup Assistant appears, asks for feedback, then after selecting okay (both on saying yes or no to feedback) goes on to a registration page. When I click on this it says I've already registered so I just click okay, and then move on to a update page. After this, if I click on Word, the process repeats itself.
As I said, I don't have the disk to reinstall, and can't find the Office Settings to delete as many pages have suggested I should try. Safe Boot restarting also hasn't worked... Really stuck and need Word very soon for work.
If you can help, that would be great, and feel free to ask any questions about the situation as I'm not an expert here.
    Cheers,
    Jack

First, export your contact from iCloud.com and save them on your computer in a safe spot some where (like you desktop).  Use this to help you do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606
Next, on both of your devices, go to Settings > iCloud and turn on contacts and select Merge. Then turn off contacts and select 'Delete form my [device]' when prompted.
Now go back to iCloud.com and select a contact (yes they will all be messed up again) and select Command+A on a Mac or Control+A on a PC to select all of the contacts.  Tap the delete key on your keyboard (or right click /control click a contact and select delete).
You iPhone, iPad and iCloud.com should not be empty for contacts.
Go back to Settings > iCloud on both devices and turn on contacts again (you should not see merge this time).
Next, go back to iCloud.com and import your contacts (those exported .vcards).  You can either drag and drop them into the empty contacts list in your web browser, or you can use the gear icon to import.
You cleaned up contacts should import correctly into iCloud.com and sync to both of your devices.
    Good luck.
