Calendar Blues

My first impressions of the iPad calendar is that it is easily the worst calendar app I have ever used. There seems to be no way to edit events once created. It is not an iOS problem since the iPhone calendar is easily edited, but an iPad problem. Is there a way of editing events in calendar that is noty obvious?
If not what is the best alternative calendar app that does allow editing of events?

Turn off and keep off auto time in settings.

  • Is there a way to flag events on the Calendar differently?  I want to put bills in my Calendar on the days they are usually due (repeating monthly).  I want to flag them somehow when they have been paid.

Is there a way to flag events on the Calendar.  I want to put bills to be paid (and have them repeat monthly) on my Calendar.  I would like to be able to flag them after they are paid.  I tried to put them in using the "Home calendar" blue, and them change them to purple (Work Calendar) after I had paid them.  The problem is that once I changed a bill from blue to purple it changed all upcoming bills for future months to purple also.

You might want to try Reminders.
Creat a Bill Pay list, add all your bills set a reminder to repeat every month and when you pay one just check them off as complete

  • Source of Multiple Calendars in Outlook 2007 and iCloud (iOS7.0.4)

Source of Multiple Calendars in Outlook 2007 and iCloud (iOS7.0.4)
My  iPhones (2) and iPad list the following color-coded calendar names when the word "Calendar" is pressed at the bottom of the calendar screen:  All iCloud (no colored dot), Calendar (Blue Dot),  Home (orange Dot), Saved emails (red dot), and Saved emails (2)( green dot).
Calendar items created on both iPhones are coded with a blue dot and appear on a blue background in iCloud and on the phones.  Calendar items created  on my iPad appear on a green background (saved emails 2)  on my iPad and my iphones. Why isn't the color "Blue"? It appears that entries made on Outlook appear in Saved Emails (red).
I have not imported or connected with any external calendars.
This behavior raises the following questions:
    1)  Should entries created  on each device appear in a different color?
    2)  Does the color associated with an entry designate a specific device or a specific type of device?
    3)  Which device is the "Home" device referred to in paragraph 1 above?
    4)  Why would a Calendar be named with a reference to "saved emails"? From where would it come.
My understanding about synching with iCloud was that any entry from any iDevice (phone or pad)  or iCloud would appear in both iCloud and  in the calendars of all devices on the same  Apple Account.  Please confirm my understanding or correct it.
With iCloud as the hub, must I still utilize Microsoft Outlook?  I am retired and no longer need Outlook for work.
Can I edit any calendar entry in I cloud had have it change it in all the devices, or must it be edited in the device in which the entry was originally made?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would ditch Outlook like a bad habit.
Now to answer your questions starting at the bottom.  yes, you can edit any and all iCloud Calendars on iCloud.com.  You can rename your calendars, re-color them, create, edit or delete events, etc.
So you asked a question on why your calendars are named 'saved emails'.  This sounds like something that would be created from Outlook since you can send email to the calendar in Outlook.  If you quit using outlook, you can simply rename the calendars to something more sensible or delete them entirely.
About calendar colors.  Each calendar you (or your mail program on your behalf) has created gets assigned a name and color.  Each color helps your identify which calendar and event belongs to.  When you create a new event from your iOS device or iCloud.com, you will find a handy little section that says 'calendar' where you can specify to which calendar (or color) you want that event to be on.  You will also find this option when tapping and editing and event on the iOS devices or icloud.com.  If you want all of your devices to default to the same calendar when creating a new event, on your iOS devices go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Scroll to the section that says 'Calendar' in gray (its at the very bottom) and change the 'default calendar' to whatever you want the defualt to be.  You can also change the default in iCloud.com by clicking the gear icon.
My recommendation: 1) Ditch Outlook. Go to your Control Panel > iCloud and uncheck Outlook. 2) Move all of your events to one or two calendars.  if you don't have a need for multiple calendars, just simplify your life and move them all to one calendar.  You can edit the event and change the calendar, then go back and delete the other calendars that are confusing you with all the different colors.  You can rename, recolor, create and delete calendars form your iOS device by tapping calendar in the bottom of the screen when in the calendars app then tap edit in the top left.  You can also do these same things on iCloud.com  Where ever is easiest for you will work.

  • Same color for different calendars

Prior to upgrading to ios4.0, there was a different color for my exchange calendar (red) and my Mobile me calendar (blue). Since the upgrade they are both the same color (blue). Is there a way to change the color so that they are different?

There many posts on this subject already. Your only option is to remove the calendars using the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings page and then add them back in a different order.
Apple have decided that the calendars adopt preset colours in a preset order

  • Help syncing new iPad with Outlook 2007 on my PC and Blackberry Tour 9630

I have searched for answers and am stumped and frustrated...
I bought an iPad (am trying to become I-friendly) and thought it would be convenient to be able to sync my “stuff” (Contacts, Calendar and notes) to the iPad so we’ll have access to it while traveling.  I use a Blackberry Tour 9630 and a PC with Outlook 2007.  I have synced them effortlessly for years using Desktop manager.  I make changes to my ‘stuff’ on both phone and PC and when I sync - the most current ‘stuff’ gets placed on both.  Voila!  Not anymore.
When I set up my iPad to work with iCloud things got screwy.  A LOT of my contacts just disappeared - mainly the ones I use frequently.  Now my Outlook 2007 calendar has three calendars on the screen:
    Calendar in iCloud - pink
Calendar Merge Conflicts in iCloud - green in a tab behind the pink calendar
    Calendar - blue
I use a cox email account and my blackberry gives me the choice when deleting an email whether to delete on the device or on the server.  I use that feature a lot when we are traveling for a few weeks.  It is nice to come home with no redundant emails on my PC.
1-How do I combine all the calendars so I have the same thing on each device, Hoping to stay updated on each when I make changes
2-Can the iPad email give me the option to delete from the server when viewing an email on a cox.net account?
I am not an expert but fairly tech savvy and usually can get these things done. I need help!  I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions - Thanks in advance

  • Blue TODAY banner on monthly iCal calendar doesn't indicate current date

Why doesn't the blue TODAY banner on monthly iCal calendar on iPad indicate current day?  (I.e., today is Wednesday Feb 8 but the blue TODAY banner is still on Tues Feb 7) .  I'm syncing to my other devices with iCloud. This problem only happens on the iPad.

Duh... My contrast settings were messed up and I couldn't see that today's date was highlighted.

  • Unexplained Blue Dot in Calendar

    Hello,
I've been trying to figure out an unexplained blue dot on my calendar; it appears on a day in the month view when there are no events listed for that day. I've read through the forums and can see that people have encountered some issues when syncing all-day recurring events with Outlook but that doesn't really apply to my situation. I just have this one unexplained day and I don't sync the canlendar on my iPhone with any other devices or software. If anyone has experienced this or a similar problem, please let me know how you resolved it -- I'm a little bit of a type-A so this is driving me nuts
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Spot on. Or, maintaining the Mail analogy, probably more accurately 'unread' comment.

  • Duplicate Outlook Calendar items on my iPad2-PINK & BLUE!

After I connected to iCloud I got duplicate calendar items - just on my iPad2, not on my PC's Outlook (2010). I now have Pink and Blue duplicate calendar items... Very pretty - but annoying. I see that Pink means from my pc - meaning before using iCloud, and blue meaning iCloud calendar and calendar items entered on the iPad2. Why do I get both? And who do items entered on the iPad2 NOT get synced over to Outlook? This kind of defeats the idea of syncing, if it doesn't go both ways, and it duplicates things.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    I found the answer.
    1. plug the phone in to your computer or wall plug or this does not work!
    2. Go to settings>Icloud> and turn off calander sync. Then delete all items. Now your iphone calendar should be blank.
    3. Now got to Icloud.com and log in using apple ID.
    4. Look at your calendar. On the left edit your calendars and remove all of them. Now your cloud calendar should be blank.
    5. Now go back to your Iphone cloud setting and turn calandar sync on. After awhile your Iphone calander should match your Outlook calnder and your Icloud calander should too.

  • Change in Calendar color after update - want blue again!!!

I had been putting off the update to 3.0 for some time but couldn't wait any longer. I updated to 3.0.1 today and finally got the certificate working after my Network IT person figured all I needed to do was turn off the SSL. Once the SSL was turned off, all work perfectly!
Everything is back to normal except.... the color of my calendar went from Blue to Red. I am a creature of habit and want my Blue colored calendar back. I am trying to get used to Red, but I just can't!
Can someone please tell me what I need to do get my Blue calendar back. Please. The next call is to our Network IT person. So, I just need to tell him how to do this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anne

Is this the calendar for a MS Exchange account? If so, the color is not user-settable (or IT-settable), it is 'assigned' by the iPhone when the account is set up. The 'normal' order of preference is red, orange, blue, green, purple. You can try deleting the Exchange account, then adding two calendars by syncing via iTunes (dummy calendars), then re-add the Exchange account, then you can delete the dummy calendars (via another sync). I'm not sure if that will work, as I am able to live with red .

  • IPad calendar colors switch to blue after changing colors

I have a number of iCloud calendars that on the iCloud website show in unique colors.  The calendars have the same colors on my mac's calendar application, but on my iPad they are mostly light blue.  If I try to change the colors on the iPad, they ultimatly switch back to light blue.  What must be done to either allow me to change the calendar colors perminatly on the ipad, or have the iCloud calender colors relect on the iPad?

They are from multiple sources. When i playback each source they are normal color, only after i export the project using make quicktime movie does the color look dull in Quicktime. Also it looks normal color when i bring it into DVD Studio Pro, or play it in RealPlayer.

  • Blue dot home events disappeared from my iPhone 4S calendar.

Blue dot home events were gone this morning from my iPhone 4S calendar. Any idea on how I can get them back?  I've tried restarting. I thought they were backed up to iCloud b/c "iCloud Backup" is "on" on my phone but there are no current home events on my iCloud calendar ...  The first time I remember looking at my calendar this morning, they were gone - they were there last night.  I tried to install the latest iTunes version this morning, and it didn't work so I canceled the install, but my iPhone wasn't connected to the computer at that time ... otherwise everything has been status quo ... any ideas much appreciated! thx!

  • HT1688 why am I getting appointments on my iPhone calendar that are in blue and they are not syncing with my Mac Book calendar?

I started getting appointments I create on iphone 4s in blue instead of the green that is usual.  I am also noticing that these appointments that are in blue are not syncing with my other calendars on my other devices.  Icloud is enabled and calendars is checked.  This just started happening...

    Hello jricks8
Check and see what calendar it is being added to. You may see it something that is local to the iPhone or another sync service that is not setup on your computer. Check out the page below to find out more information to sort you out.
