Calendar crash only in months overview?

Hi iPad friends,
After adding a lot of meetings, dates etc in month March, my calendar on the iPad began to crash again and again. It was only possible to work with the calender in the weekly overview. If I wanted to open the months overview, the calendar crashed instantly.  Does somebody know why this happened and how to get rid of this problem? Thanks a lot in advance!
PS. Yes, I've already closed the iPad using the red slide button, I've also double clicked the Home-Button and deleted the calendar, and I've deactivated and re-activated the calendar from iCloud. No success. :-(

I have not understood why this problem was occurring, but I have found a solution which is to force the calendar entries to be reset from Mobile Me. I did this:
1 Did a backup in iTunes in case it went horribly wrong.
2 Went into iphone>settings>Mail Contacts Calendars > (Mobile Me Account) > Switched off calendars - told it to delete entries on iphone.
3 Turned off iphone
4 Waited a bit
5 Turned iphone on
6 Repeated 2 and switched on calendars.
7 Waited a bit for Mobile Me to sync
All calendars restored nicely..
Why this problem occurred in the first place is a mystery. Unlike other punters, I didn't have itunes syncing my calendars to iphone, only Mobile Me........... It has the strong smell of a bug as this problem emerged after many months of trouble free syncing only when I updated to iphone 3.

  • Calendar crashes on specific month

My iPad 2 (fully updated) calendar is crashing when viewing March 2013 in month view.
I can view March 2013 in day and week view, but when switching to month view, it crashes.
If I disable birthdays from contact persons, it does not crash.
I I delete all contacts that has birthday in March (and enable birthdays), it crashes again.
This is very annoying as I several times had to completely delete all contacts and calendars as it got stuck on month view for March 2013 and therefor kept crashing the second it was opened.
    Suggestions anyone?

this is a know bug and has been covered in many threads here.
If you remove all day events (such as birthdays) it fixes the problem - but you already worked it out yourself.
Some users had to remove 1st April 2013 Easter Monday whole day event.
work around is to change the birthday from all day event to a shorter period of time on that day.

  • Calendar crashes in month view mode

iPad 2 - iOS 5. Using Calendar app, viewing in month mode. Paging from month to month. When I page from february 2013 to march 2013, the app crashes. Consistently. Is it just me?

Temporary workaround identified at least, at your link above.
    Workaround:
Please edit all-day events on 1 April 2013. Either remove the event or change the all-day event into an appointment event, starting for example 12.00.
    It worked for me.

  • With newest ios 7 version, can no longer change "just this one" recurring calendar event, like if a monthly meeting time changes, but only this month. How to fix?

With newest IOS7, installed this morning, can no longer change just one time, a recurring event-like a monthly meeting.  It used to ask if i want to change for this event only, or for all the events.  How else can you change the time "just this once" and leave the other times alone?

no-turns out the only problem is taking the event from an "all day" event that repeats, to one with a time, if time is only for the one event this year.  Do all repeating events either need to be for the entire day, or for a time-but cannot change an all day event, to one with a time only for this event.
I have the "all day" for the annual event so I don't forget to take care of this, but this year I want to give it a time so it is more prominant on the calendar.  Only wanted it at a specific time this year, and want it to stay "all day event" in the future.
I think the only way to fix is to make a new event just this year and give it a time, then keep the recurring event as as "all day".
Not a big deal-thought it was a bigger problem than it turns out to be.

  • How do i get my subscription calendar load a full year of data instead of only 3 months?

I have loaded subscription calendars into my iCal (such has US Holidays, Jewish Holidays).  However, I recently noticed that only the next 3 months of events are loaded into to my iCal.  I would like to have at least the next 12 months if not more.  Is there an option that I am not finding that will allow me to make this change?

    Betsy,
The publisher of the calendar may only release items three months in advance.
Can you provide the source of the calendar?

  • At only 15 months of age, my MacPro crashed yesterday! Any idea how I can save my hard disk from being destroyed if I hand it in for repair?

At only 15 months of age, my MacPro crashed yesterday! Any idea how I can save my hard disk from being destroyed if I hand it in for repair?

Open it up. Buy a new replacement drive. Install Mac OS. Then give it to them if you still have trouble.
    As for the install failing,
I never do the older "archive and install"
I format and initialize first, even zero the drive, and only then install.
of course all the data is lost.
Data Rescue 3 demo can scan a drive but you need to have setup a 2nd boot drive to work from, AND you would need part of that 2nd drive partition for recovery of data. 30-50GB system partition and 150% the size of the drive you want to recover.
TimeMachine I never adopted or liked but 350% and would only use as secondary backup with cloned copy of your drive.
Backups can be scheduled, run at night or weekend or both, a weekly clone and daily sets.
Disk Warrior 4.2+ is another $100 (DR3 is about same but demo is free to try).
A spare external drive case $30? and TWO hard drives, a replacement and backup/recovery $100 each?
Just some ideas to throw out there....
Bootable clones though you will find are very useful, handy.
I like the small 40GB emergency boot partition - put one on your TimeMachine drive etc.
LION: the one good thinig: it has a recovery mode partition and new Macs have "net install" feature and minimal hardware diagnostic over the internet to do Apple Hardware Test. Lion $30 and might actually want to install it on external.
So DO try installing OS X on one of your external drives - create 40GB volume just for that - if you can please.

  • Hard Drive crashes after only 9 months?

I've had my MacBook Pro only nine months. Light photo/video and e-mail use.
Just installed the 08 iWorks and iLife.
And it crashes?? Is this SOP for a Mac? I'm stunned. I chose this laptop for its reliability, non-crashing reputation.
    Anyone else have this problem?
I'm at a loss for words to describe how disappointed I am.
    Un-be-liev-a-ble.

I don't know about how typical it is, but personally, my Mac is at AppleCare Repair receiving its third hard drive in 7 months. I've had a mix of outright failures & irreversible corruptions that require replacement. I'm hoping to get the machine back with some new memory &/or logic board also this time --- it's becoming quite clear that some other part of the notebook is eating my hard drives for lunch.

  • Calendar crashes -  Monday as 1st day of the week

I have an ipad1, running iOS 5.1.1. It's sync to iCloud. I deleted entries to Sept 1. It was stuck on month view of September. I couldn't change it to another month or view.
    I soft reset. no change.
    I hard reset. no change.
I factory reset and restored iPad with Itunes and restored old settings. no change.
I factory reset iPad with iTunes as new ipad. Calendar was behaving.
I went into settings and personalised it.
It's is now September. when I click on September month view Calendar crashes. Other views are ok. Month view of other months is ok.
Then I realised that to have a the month view starting on Monday as the first day, I have the general>international>region format set as UK (I'm in Australia). When I set it back to Australia, then Calendar doesn't crash.
So the factory reset served to reset the region to my local region.
The work around for Apple changing the Calendar start day to Sunday was to change the region to one where the start day was Monday. It had been working fine until recently. I'm not sure when the crashing started happening, perhaps on the last iOS update.
So, it may have been that a mismatch in local region to region designated on the settings that crashes the Calendar. It may be that selecting UK crashes the Calendar.
Now, Calendar crash problem solved. This might help someone else with the same problem.
Calendar format starting on unpreferred day reintroduced.
I would like to see my month view start the day as Monday, not Sunday. Does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks .
    I've managed to fix it:
Go to Settings / Mail Contacts and Calendars / Start the week on
    Change from Sunday to Monday.
It appears people in Brazil are the only ones affected.
It's a good work-around  while apple does not fix this bug.

  • Calendar crashes right from the start

Apple's native calendar crashes at first touch. Before that the app crashed "only" when viewing month March 2013.....

To fix that annoying March crash. Look for any all day event on april 1 and either delete it or change it to span a few hours. March should then resolve. There seems to be an issue with daylight savings time, the scattered nature of who follows it and the calendar app trying to resolve starting April when it can't figure out exactly when March ends.
Removing that all day app resolves the issue

  • Disappearing Contacts, Mobile Me Sync Issues, Calendar crash-Answers??

I'll try to keep this post brief but hopefully it will help provide some possible answers for frustrated users experiencing the random complete wipe out of all contacts and calendar data when syncing with mobile me using either push or fetch. After several weeks of experiencing these random sync issues and spending several hours over several days between tech support calls with iPhone then Mobile Me support and then finally a genius bar appointment where the genius said he didn't have a clue and simply offered to replace my phone.
The next morning, SAME PROBLEMS... and through it all NO ONE could tell me why my sync was so randomly unreliable. Every other day for no apparent reason, my phone would suddenly lose all contacts and/or calendar data. (A few thousand contacts and two years of calendar data). It was both frustrating and strange—even stranger that Apple techs had no clue why and seemed to think no one else was having this issue.
I tried everything - complete restores, resets, deleting and re-adding the mobileme account, etc., etc., etc. One tech support person finally said, "good luck..." The others kept handing me off the higher levels of support... until finally they just said "we don't know why this is happening." I was waiting for someone to just say, "Look, we have issues with mobile me, so hang in there and eventually it will work." I can be patient and I still think the iphone is the greatest invention in recent years. But everybody I talked with at Apple seemed to think this should be working flawlessly.
I also started having a crash on the calendar anytime I tried to see the list view for "all calendars." This was frustrating because that's the best feature of the calendar app!
I was prepared to just return to syncing with my computer and wait for the software to improve between the phone and mobile me. Finally, last night I tried a few things that seem to be working... and for the first full day, mobile me is actually useful to me today. (my fingers are crossed!)
    Here's what I did.
    1. I minimized the number of calendars I was syncing - I have no idea if this affected the sync, but I was syncing eight calendars, now I'm down to four. (You can easily export a calendar and import those events back into a different calendar.)
    2. I did a complete restore of the phone (not from a back up) and the VERY FIRST THING, I added mobile me and synced only the calendar (set to push.) This cleared up the random calendar crash in list view and also mobile me was pushing data rather reliably. After a few moments my entire calendar was on the phone and worked perfectly. New events were transferred quickly back and forth.
    3. I then chose to sync my contacts through the computer rather than over the air. I fear that the contact sync was somehow messing up the whole communication process between the phone and the cloud. Someone suggested that the number of "groups" in contacts might have an impact on the sync issues as well. I didn't need my contacts to sync with the urgency of "push" so this works for me. Plus I have a lot of contacts and it's just faster over the cable.
    4. I then GREATLY reduced the number of apps on my phone. I originally had about 27 and I only reinstalled 9 of them. I did this ONE AT A TIME - starting with the most necessary and useful... and after each install, I checked the functionality of the calendar and mobile me. No problems. Perhaps I was having an app conflict?
    5. Then I reinstalled the rest of my content - music, podcasts, photos. Still no problems.
ONE of these steps actually worked, and I'm not sure which one. My guess is that one or more of my apps was conflicting in some way. OR possibly something with the contact sync... but for the last 24 hours the mobile me calendar sync using push has been consistently reliable and useful. (for the record, mobile me email has always worked perfectly for me.)
No one with tech support ever suggested to me that I could be having an application conflict or any other problems with calendars or contact groups, etc. I've spent many hours on this the past few weeks... and for the first time, my iphone seems to be working with mobile me correctly.
In reading many of these posts, it seems a lot of others are having similar problems... so hopefully these suggestions might be helpful. If you have any thoughts as to which of these solutions was the correct one, I would be interested in hearing your opinion.
    Thanks!

Are your Address Book contacts and iCal calendars/calendar events on your Mac synced with your MobileMe online address book and calendar?
When you say this data is not synced with your iPhone, none of your MobileMe online data is transferred to your iPhone, or after the initial transfer of this data to your iPhone when you first turned contacts and calendars for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, the data is not kept synchronized with the MobileMe "cloud"?

  • Calendar events only go back one year in list view

Although visible in day & month views, calendar events only go back only about one year. And this also seems to preclude them from searches.
This seems to have been reported since 2008, and still exists in iOS 5. Any insight? Or do I need to switch back to Win Mobile?

In my calendar viewing in a list, I can see days back and forth.
View a list of events.  In month view, tap to see a day’s events. In day view, tap .
