Calendar crashes opening iCloud-sync'd events

I receive many invites from co-workers who use Outlook / Exchange to create appointments. I receive the appointment, accept and add it to iCal on my MacBook Pro (10.7.3) just fine. I sync my calendars to my iPhone and iPad via iCloud.I can open the appointment and view it on the MacBook and via the web-iCloud interface, but if I try to view it on my iPhone or iPad, the Cal app will crash immediately. It happens with 100% of the accepted invites on both iOS devices. I've rebooted the devices to no avail.
Any alarms associated with the appointment work on the iOS devices, but I just can't view the appointment. Manually created appointments have no problems.
Suggestions?

Apple reported that they couldn't duplicate the problem, so it never went further.
I no longer have the issue myself because the company from which I was receiving Calendar invites changed the way I have to access their email. I now use Apple Mail & Calendar to receive email & invites via an Exchange sync setup rather than the former method using POP. Not sure why that would matter, but the same invites work now.

  • Calendar iPhone and iCloud - sync does not work

I do not know where everything is set up, I could not find anything where I do something stopla and again it gave way.

  • Calendar Crash - Corrupt Event - No Solution Works - Need Suggestions

While entering a new event on the iPhone, the calendar crashed. Now that event is corrupted and causing loads of problems.
. Every time I view that day, the calendar crashes.
. Every time I try to view that event (ie, to delete it), the calendar crashes.
    . Sync no longer working.
The corrupt event does not appear either on iCal or the Mobile Me calendar.
I have tried the following (in this order of escalation).
. Reset the phone (home & sleep buttons). Corrupt event remains.
    . Restore the iPhone.
. Turn off calendar sync on the iPhone, wired sync with settings to overwrite the iPhone calendar.
. Delete the Mobile Me account (and thus the calendar) and recreate it.
. Selected the option Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings.
The closest I got to a fix was after "Erase All Content and Settings." After waiting the necessary 2 hours for the Erase to complete, the corrupted event was gone. But as soon as I performed the Restore, it was back (even though the event does not appear in the iCal).
I tried calling support, but the phone wait is unending.
    Suggestions for what to do?

    Exact same problem here.
I had to re-accommodate my schedule due to a late night at the office. As soon as I changed the time from 9:30am - 4:30pm to 9:30am - 9:00pm Calendar crashed. It added the new item, but has no color association. Now I can't edit or delete this item. I have this wonky calendar item that just reads "Office 9:00". It's not even complete, because Calendar crashed before I could finish the item edit.
I tried everything mentioned in this thread, from syncing, to pushing to manual update I even tried restoring from a back-up. Nothing. It's driving me crazy, every time I try to go to delete the thing calendar crashes on me. I've tried everything short of a clean restore, but I'm not willing to do that, my phone is my life.
Someone please help, and if anybody from Apple reads this, please please help us!

  • ICloud calendar syncing but events not syncing

I have an issue wherein my iCloud calendars on my Mac are syncing with iCloud, but certain events on the calendars aren't syncing. I imported a calendar from a file that has my school class schedule, so now on my computer I have my class schedule and can make alerts on it and that kind of thing, but the repeating events that stand for the classes aren't syncing with iCloud. I tried creating test events in that particular calendar, and they synced fine, but the class events are refusing to sync. Any help?

  • Does calendar app need to be open for iCloud sync?

    Hi @all,
I was just wondering the following about the sync function with iCloud: When I add a new calendar entry on my MacBook will it be pushed automatically to my iPhone from the cloud without having the actual calendar app open on the iPhone? I am asking because I am not frequently connected to a data network so what happens with this new entry in my calendar? Let's say I connect to a data network but don't open the calendar app. I leave the data network connection open for a while and then close it. After closing the data network connection I open the calendar app but the new entry does not appear. Will the new entry be synced to my iPhone only when I open the calendar app and only when I am connected to a data network at the same time?
    Thanks
    Martin

Define background.  Do you mean the app open but minimized or app is actually not open.  I have photos in my dock for quick access.  It is closed and does not have the dot underneath showing it is open but minimized.  If the app is completely closed is iCloud working in the background upload/downloading photos?

  • IPad Calendar won't sync new events with iCloud

I have a iPad3 that will not sync, to iCloud, any new Calander Events created on the iPad.
It sync's everything else just fine, Contacts, Mail, etc. The iPad sync's just fine if the Event is created directly on iCloud via the Safari brouser or when the Event is created on my MacBook Air.
But, for some reason, if I create the Event on the iPad --- it will not upload to the iCloud for viewing in Safari or to be pushed to my MacBook. All other syncing functions work fine......
I'm a little preplexed by this one.  Why does iCloud refuse only those Calendar Events created on the iPad?  All other syncing functions work fine.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I followed your instructions.  My defalut calendar in the ipad settings was already a icloud calendar, so...
I reset the iPad's iCloud Calendar Settings to OFF (and Delete from my iPad).
    I waited....
Went back and reset the iPad's iCloud Settings to ON.
I then created a new "Test event" on the iPad.
NO LUCK!  Still doesn't work. The Event created on the iPad is not getting synced to iCloud, and I can not see it at iCloud.com. (Though when I create the event and hit "Done", I can see the little white wheel in the upper left corner spinning - like it is synching something.
I made a "Test Event" on my MacBook Air (MBA) no problem.  It immediately showed on icloud.com and ,as well, on the iPad's Calender.  So, the iPad is "synching the downloads.  It's just not uploading.
I even went so far as to - on the iPad -  modify an Event that was originally created on the MBA. The Event modification made on the iPad did not sync back to iCloud either.
So, it seems every Calendar Event and modification that is made on the iPad does not get up-loaded to iCloud, but all Events and modifications made on iCloud or the MBA get downloaded to the iPad without issue.
This is only in Calendar.  All other syncing Apps work fine.
    Any other suggestions????

  • I use a Win7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my calendar and contacts. I can enter data in my Outlook Calendar and it will appear in iCloud, but data entered in iCloud does not sync back to Outlook.  ICloud syncs to my iphone fine both ways.

I use Win 7 PC with iCloud and Outlook 2010 for syncing my Contacts and Calendar.  They have stopped syncing...mostly.
Now, appointments I enter on my local Outlook (iCloud) Calendar goes up to iCloud fine.  But, data I enter on iCloud directly does not come down to my local Outlook iCloud Calendar.  If I reboot the computer, the iCloud data shows up.
Also, Contacts I try to enter on my Outlook (iCloud) Contacts goes up to iCloud fine, but does not show up in my local iCloud Contacts.
All syncing works with my iPhone.
I have signed out of iCloud on PC.  I have stopped syncing and re-started.  No change.
I have an .aplzod folder for iCloud.  I have a separate Earthlink.net.pst email account in Outlook and a me.com.pst Outlook email account (which I don't actually use) listed under Data Files.
Any help would be appreciated.  Curious that Outlook will upload to iCloud but not receive downloads unless I reboot.  However, rebooting does not download the missing Contacts.
    Jim Robbins

    Hi Jim!
You've started off with some good troubleshooting steps, so let's see if we can take this a little further and figure out what the issue is with your iCloud contacts and calendars. I have two articles here that will help you troubleshoot this issue a little further, but the troubleshooting steps for both articles are exactly the same, so I will lay those out for you here:
Note: When using iCloud Control Panel 2.0 and later, iCloud Calendar event descriptions in Outlook 2010 do not support text formatting (bold, italics, or underline), HTML, images, or attachments. The contextual (right-click) menu has also been disabled.
If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or 2010) and iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud. For more information, see iCloud system requirements.
When enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup process is to copy your Calendars data from the default Outlook ".pst" file to iCloud, and then remove the Calendars from the ".pst" file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Calendars data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud dataset within Outlook after enabling Calendars in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted files can be seen by viewing Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Calendars data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in Outlook. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for iCloud Calendar. This also tests if the ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and pull updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Control Panel pane. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on Windows.
Completely close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
If you recently made changes in Outlook and they are not moving to your other devices or vice-versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the Windows Control Panel:
In Windows 8, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
In Windows 7 and Vista, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks, and click Apply. Wait a few seconds, then replace the checkmark, and click Apply.
Open Outlook and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Ensure the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active within Outlook.
    Outlook 2010:
    Open Outlook 2010.
    Click the File menu.
Click Options in the left panel of the Outlook window.
Click Add-Ins in the left panel of the Outlook Options window.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For Outlook 2007, follow these steps to verify the iCloud Outlook Add-in is active
    Open Outlook 2007.
From the Tools menu, choose Trust Center.
Select Add-ins from the left column.
Look at the list of add-ins beneath "Active Application Add-Ins" and verify that the "iCloud Outlook Add-in" is listed.
For additional information about managing Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook, see this Microsoft support document.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

  • Calendar On Ipad not Syncing to Iphone Icloud

Hi I recently had an i pad mini for christmas.
When i tried to sync my calendar from my iphone, only certain events from the past few weeks would sync not all of the year.
I have gone into settings and made sure that i have the option for everything to be synced and have identical settings on both devices.
I have also noticed that when i try and add an event on my  i pad not only does it not sync but sometimes it doesent show up at all not even on the ipad i just created the event on.
I would also like to point out that every event i create on my iphone shows up on icloud but does not always show up on i pad
Thanks in advance for any help.

Please make sure that you create new events in an iCloud calendar (open the event and check field calendar) and not in local calendar or in a calendar from another service that you also set up on one of your devices.
If you would like to see all the events of the year, then please make sure that you choose the option in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > (section Calendar) > Sync > All Events".

Can anyone tell me if there is a way (besides opening each yahoo event and switching it on the iphone to an icloud calendar) to transfer my yahoo calendar to an icloud calendar??
There is not, Vista or Lion are the minimum requirements, use Yahoo's sync services instead.

    Hi grumpy03,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you do not see events from your iCloud calendar on your iPhone, be sure to try all of these troubleshooting steps:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3999
    Troubleshooting on iOS devices
First, confirm that you've turned on iCloud Calendar by tapping Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then check that Calendars is turned on.
If you are having trouble with the Calendar app on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) and iCloud Calendar, try these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Make sure your iOS device is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in your Calendar application. Learn how to troubleshoot your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Calendar requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
If recent changes don't appear, try to refresh your calendars:In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the Calendars tab to load the Calendars list, then pull down on the list to refresh.
If you've recently made changes to your contacts' birthdays and are not seeing those changes reflected in your Birthdays Calendar, try to refresh your calendars. If you made the changes in the Contacts app on your Mac or at iCloud.com, it may take up to an hour for those changes to appear on your other devices.
If you add new events on your iOS device, but they do not update on iCloud.com or your other devices, confirm that you've added the event to an iCloud calendar:In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap the calendar name to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
You may want to verify your default calendar settings. If you want to create new events in an iCloud calendar, set that calendar to be your default calendar. You can modify Default Calendar settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Calendar.
If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Calendar app:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Calendar preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
Restart your iOS device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, then drag the slider. After the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Change the Sync settings for your calendars:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Under Calendars, tap Sync. If Sync is set to All Events, set it to a specific duration, such as Events 1 Month Back. If it's already set to a specific duration, set it to All Events.
Tap the Home button. Wait several minutes, then open Calendar and try to refresh your calendars again.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn off Calendar. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/calendar or on one or more of your computers. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Calendar back on.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • HT4968 How to sync a local calendar with an iCloud calendar, automatically.

I have several iCloud calendars including one for the daily business events. I use a local copy (generated to export/import) for sync with other systems like a BB. The export/import step is a stop gap since, first, its manual and, secondly, its not really synchronizing. Hence, my question: is there a SW or a batch process which snycs iCloud calendars with a local calendar??
    Thanks
    MSt

You can get 2-way synchronization between iCal and google calendar, but you have to start with a google calendar and import that into iCal. You can't sync an existing local iCal calendar with google.
    Here's what I would suggest:
    1. Export your local iCal calendar as a .ics file.
    2. Make a new calendar on google calendars.
    3. Upload your .ics file so that it populates your new google calendar with the events from your local iCal calendar (do this via google calendar's web interface).
    4. Then use iCal to sync that newly-created google calendar with iCal.
    5. Now you can use iCal to edit events in this new google calendar, and they will be synched with the google calendar. You can also edit events using the google calendar web interface, and they will be synched with the version visible in iCal the next time you open iCal or ctrl-click "Refresh" that iCal calendar.
    6. You can keep your original local iCal calendar, or delete it, once you know your new setup is doing what you want it to.

  • Disappearing Contacts, Mobile Me Sync Issues, Calendar crash-Answers??

I'll try to keep this post brief but hopefully it will help provide some possible answers for frustrated users experiencing the random complete wipe out of all contacts and calendar data when syncing with mobile me using either push or fetch. After several weeks of experiencing these random sync issues and spending several hours over several days between tech support calls with iPhone then Mobile Me support and then finally a genius bar appointment where the genius said he didn't have a clue and simply offered to replace my phone.
The next morning, SAME PROBLEMS... and through it all NO ONE could tell me why my sync was so randomly unreliable. Every other day for no apparent reason, my phone would suddenly lose all contacts and/or calendar data. (A few thousand contacts and two years of calendar data). It was both frustrating and strange—even stranger that Apple techs had no clue why and seemed to think no one else was having this issue.
I tried everything - complete restores, resets, deleting and re-adding the mobileme account, etc., etc., etc. One tech support person finally said, "good luck..." The others kept handing me off the higher levels of support... until finally they just said "we don't know why this is happening." I was waiting for someone to just say, "Look, we have issues with mobile me, so hang in there and eventually it will work." I can be patient and I still think the iphone is the greatest invention in recent years. But everybody I talked with at Apple seemed to think this should be working flawlessly.
I also started having a crash on the calendar anytime I tried to see the list view for "all calendars." This was frustrating because that's the best feature of the calendar app!
I was prepared to just return to syncing with my computer and wait for the software to improve between the phone and mobile me. Finally, last night I tried a few things that seem to be working... and for the first full day, mobile me is actually useful to me today. (my fingers are crossed!)
    Here's what I did.
    1. I minimized the number of calendars I was syncing - I have no idea if this affected the sync, but I was syncing eight calendars, now I'm down to four. (You can easily export a calendar and import those events back into a different calendar.)
    2. I did a complete restore of the phone (not from a back up) and the VERY FIRST THING, I added mobile me and synced only the calendar (set to push.) This cleared up the random calendar crash in list view and also mobile me was pushing data rather reliably. After a few moments my entire calendar was on the phone and worked perfectly. New events were transferred quickly back and forth.
    3. I then chose to sync my contacts through the computer rather than over the air. I fear that the contact sync was somehow messing up the whole communication process between the phone and the cloud. Someone suggested that the number of "groups" in contacts might have an impact on the sync issues as well. I didn't need my contacts to sync with the urgency of "push" so this works for me. Plus I have a lot of contacts and it's just faster over the cable.
    4. I then GREATLY reduced the number of apps on my phone. I originally had about 27 and I only reinstalled 9 of them. I did this ONE AT A TIME - starting with the most necessary and useful... and after each install, I checked the functionality of the calendar and mobile me. No problems. Perhaps I was having an app conflict?
    5. Then I reinstalled the rest of my content - music, podcasts, photos. Still no problems.
ONE of these steps actually worked, and I'm not sure which one. My guess is that one or more of my apps was conflicting in some way. OR possibly something with the contact sync... but for the last 24 hours the mobile me calendar sync using push has been consistently reliable and useful. (for the record, mobile me email has always worked perfectly for me.)
No one with tech support ever suggested to me that I could be having an application conflict or any other problems with calendars or contact groups, etc. I've spent many hours on this the past few weeks... and for the first time, my iphone seems to be working with mobile me correctly.
In reading many of these posts, it seems a lot of others are having similar problems... so hopefully these suggestions might be helpful. If you have any thoughts as to which of these solutions was the correct one, I would be interested in hearing your opinion.
    Thanks!

Are your Address Book contacts and iCal calendars/calendar events on your Mac synced with your MobileMe online address book and calendar?
When you say this data is not synced with your iPhone, none of your MobileMe online data is transferred to your iPhone, or after the initial transfer of this data to your iPhone when you first turned contacts and calendars for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, the data is not kept synchronized with the MobileMe "cloud"?

  • How do I sync to my Calendar from outside iCloud (Gmail, etc)?

I have become accustomed to having everything I need as far as my calendar, contacts and reminders everywhere I go and always up-to-date through the sub-miracle of iCloud.  However, believe it or not, my Apple ecosystem is incomplete.  How you ask?  Well, I've recently joined the GTD bandwagon and, in so doing, have found the task management capability of these apps - singly or combined - shall we say, fairly lacking.  I use Evernote and Dropbox to fill in some of the gaps, but to corral all this data and make it useable for my workflow I use an integrated task manager.  Which one is not relevant to the current discussion since the problem presented here is the same regardless (but for the record I'm currently experimenting with the beta of an app called IQTell).
I want to link to my Calendar.  My calendar is subscribed to iCloud.  My AppleID associated with my iCloud account is NOT a [email protected] AppleID, but instead is [email protected] Yes, this complicates things further, but I'm unfortunately heavily invested in that ID at this point.  As such I have no iCloud sync of Notes.  Calendar/iCloud won't let me join calendars I attempt to share with/publish to myself (via an alternate email).  I can link Google calendars to this task manager, but not to my Apple Calendar, so that is not a viable workaround.  Both the Google environment and the Exchange/Outlook environment allow fairly open linking to outside entities, but iCloud has apparently effectively sealed my ecosystem into an Apple only affair and not sure I'm down for that anymore.  But I'm open to suggestions???

Did you ever come up with a solution for this?
I'm going to try adding yet another AppleID, but it's not what I want to or should have to do.
