Calendar creating random alerts for events

The last couple of weeks, iCloud Calendar and the Mac Calendar having been doing something very odd.  I have my college courses laid out in my Calendar and syncing between my iPhone, Mac, and iPad.  My default setting for this college calendar (and across my devices) was to alert me 15 minutes before each class started.
The last couple of weeks, however, the Calendar would alert me at my default time, but then it would alert me at the time the class was scheduled to start, and then at two random times after the class already started.  The other two created alerts usually happened around 5-15 minutes after the event already started.  After the second later time, the alerts would stop being created and stop appearing in my notifications.  I was even able to watch these alerts being created, and if I deleted the new alert, I would have to delete it a second time before it actually disappeared.  And this reminder went out across my 3 devices.
Here's what I have tried.
Changed my password on iCloud/Apple ID
I have removed the PList from Calendar app on my Mac, which changed nothing.
Repaired Permissions with Disk Utility and Onyx, also did nothing (though Disk Utility at one point did detect an error in Calendar which it said it fixed).
I went to iCloud.com and deleted the entire College calendar from the Calendar app and then manually re-added my classes.  I noticed that on some the classes, it tried to create the random alerts immediately, but since I deleted those classes again and readded them and they stopped.  This temporarily worked.
This last stepped worked for about a week before my college classes started doing this again.  Since I applied the iCloud "fix", only some of my college classes have begun creating random alerts again, but only on my Mac and not on my iOS devices.  Also, my birthdays imported from Facebook are now exhibiting this trait.  No other calendars, such as my work or appointment calendars, are doing this though, and I have tested them by creating new events in said calendars. I don't want to stop using Calendar for something like this.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Update:  Now some of my other calendars are doing this too, like my work calendar, up to almost an hour after the actual event.  I have no idea what's going on.

  • Calendar adding random alerts to events

An issue that has been driving me pretty bonkers is that, for some reason, the OS X Calendar app seems to randomly add alerts to events.  I had an even in which I had alerts for 1 hour, 3 hours, and 1 day before the event.  When the reminder for 1 day before popped up, I swiped it away, and then a little while later, another notification alert popped up, then another a few minutes later.  So I went into the event details to find my original alerts still there, but also "23 hours, 30 minutes before" and then "22 hours, 45 minutes before"—alerts I never added.  If I try to delete them, they just come right back after I hit "apply."
This is a Google calendar.  This doesn't seem to happen on the iPad or iPhone, though I don't really use the stock calendar app much.  Has anyone else run into this bizarre behavior?
It wouldn't let me insert an image in the post, but here is a screen cap of the event in Calendar: http://cl.ly/XnGg

  • Calendar adding extra alerts to events

I have recently purchased a Macbook Pro and I have set up the Caleldar app to sync with my iPhone. Now when I make an event on either device my computer adds two other alerts (besides my default-30 mins) to the event for times such as 23 hours before, 1590 mins before, or 1395 mins before. Any ideas on how to stop this from happening?
It also sends me email alerts for events when all I want is a pop up on my laptop or phone.

In case anyone is still having this problem...
Jack7513 didn't mention anything about Google Calendar in the original issue, but I have been syncing with Google Calendar (GCal) and had this same issue. If you use GCal, this may be your solution:
    > Open Google Calendar online
    > Locate "My Calendars" on the left sidebar
    > Open the drop-down menu next to the calendar(s) you sync to your iOS device or Calendar in OS X
    > Select "Reminders and Notifications"
    > At the top next to "Event Reminders" remove all reminders listed next to "By default, remind me via..." using the "remove" link to the right of each one
    > Click "Save" at the top or bottom of the page

  • Xcode ERROR: Failed to create an alert for ID "enabled" based on defaults: 1

I installed OX 10.8 and xcode 4.4 and when I run any simple application for simulator it generated error in console:
Xcode[7808]: ERROR: Failed to create an alert for ID "enabled" based on defaults: 1
I reinstalled with clean xcode, but it did not help.  I see the building freeze when "coping 2 of 2 resources to product
Also, xcode freezes when I jusy click on Mainstoryboard.storyboard file.
I found a few posts with the same ERROR but no clear fix.  Any help will be appriciated.

Hi, i had the same problem yesterday and after searching I found no solution to this error.
Today i just burned the original Mountain Lion.dmg to a portable hard driver then reinstall the OS. And it seemed that the os had been restored and the error had been fixed.
And, i guess there's some app that changes some documents of the system. So when you rewrite the os, u get the bug fixed.
    Good luck to you guys.

  • Creating customer alerts for BP

    Hi all,
I would be very happy if someone could me.
We want to create an alert for open activity for BP in the ICWebGui.
For that, we customized the alerts and policy rule so that it will call our own Z class. (accoring to the OSS).
But we dont know what to implement in that class. The class inherites from CL_CRM_IC_F_G_TRANS. Can someone explane the execute method and the purpose of the class and what else should be done.
Can anyone give an step by step alert implementation via CRM2007?
    Thanks alot.

  • Not getting alerts for events in calendar.

I add an event in Google calendar and I see it appear on my iphone calendar. However, no alert appears for the event. I have an iphone 4 with the latest iOS 5.0
This is what I have tried so far...
    1) In Settings/Mail-Contacts-Calendar, I have Default Alert Time set to "At time of event."
    2) Time Zone Support is on and is set to the same time zone as my Google Calendar.
    3) The Notification Center is turned on for the calendar, set to alert style "Alerts."
    4) When I make an event, and it shows up on my calendar, I look at the details and see that it is listed as having no alerts. I don't want to have to manually add an iphone alert for every event.  Isn't that what adding a Default Alert time is supposed to do?
    Please, any suggestions will help.
    Thanks

Actually, not quite ditto. I am not using gCal. I have a CalDAV server, with two calendars served, my wife's and mine. Each of us is a delegate of the other. On iCal on her computer, she has "ignore alerts" set for all my calendars, and this works. However, she gets the alerts on her iphone. I cannot find an option to "ignore alerts" for the iPhone calendar app. What am I missing here?

  • Why is ical creating unwanted alerts for all-day events?

If anyone can point to what might be going wrong here I'd be grateful. This is becoming a daily irritant. I have a number of all-day events listed for most week days in my diary which help me to know what is happening that day with childcare for my son. I don't need alerts to be reminded of these - they are just notes I put to myself in adavnce that let me know how my day is configured. Now, I sync my ical from my home imac to my work imac, my macbook, my iphone and my ipad. On none of these devices do I have default alerts set. I never set any alerts for any of these 'events'. But then, at 9am the day before each one I get an alert. In fact, I get a 9am alert for any all-day event, regardless of whether I set an alert for then, or at all. As I say, I've checked all devices and the default alert a=on all is set to 'none'. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I stop it?

Thanks Malcolm.I'm afraid this issue started for me after updating to iOS6!

  • Calendar: Setting an alert for more than "2 days before"?

I'm sure there is a way to set an alert for more than "2 days before" when creating a new event. Every PDA out there allows infinite options in this regard, yet I can't do this on the iphone?
How can set my iPhone calendar alerts for "7 days before" or something to this effect? Can I change the defaults? What can I do?

You can set the reminder in your computer, instead of on the iphone as the iphone's longest option is two days.
    From the manual:
"Alert time—from five minutes to two days before the event "

  • ICal import to a CalDav calendar created by Calaboration (for Google Cal)

I connected 6 of my calendars from Google Cal to iCal through CalDav with Calaboration. I wanted to take my existing iCal events and push them to the Google Cal calendars.
I tried exporting my existing iCal calendar as an ICS file, then importing it to the newly created Google Cal calendar. It worked for one calendar, and since then has just stuck on "Importing" whenever I try to import other calendars.
The CalDev calendars sync with Google Cal just fine, because I can create events on one end and they'll show up on the other. The problem is with importing. I've tried importing smaller files than the one that worked, and they just won't go.
    Suggestions?

    3.0.5 (1270)
Just to check I wasn't going mad, I just did this:
    Opened GCal in Safari.
Created a new calendar: "Test Calendar"
Started Calaboration. Selected only the new calendar
    Closed iCal when prompted
Opened iCal and after the (rather alarming) 'upgrading calendars' message I had GOOGLE:TEST CALENDAR with Test Calendar listed under it. (This can also be seen as a CalDAV account in preferences.)
Right-clicking on the calendar name, I get "Show CalDAV Queue" as the first item.
Are you using a different version of iCal? If not, perhaps you would be best advised to go into iCal Preferences, to delete the CalDAV account and start again?
Edit: Just noticed you are running the same version, but advice still stands.

  • How do I create an alert for a collection?

    Hi,
I created a collection that queries computers with Endpoint definition files of 7 days and older.  Now, I want an email alert daily what computers are in that collection.  How do I do that?
Please give me some steps if possible because I am not familiar creating an alert.
If you have an alternate/easier way, my goal is to receive email alerts of computers with old Endpoint definiton files 7 days or older.
    Thanks!

    Hi Jeremy,
So I created a report and it shows under Subscriptions (just like how it was instructed).  I also check Administration \ Site configuration \ Sites \ Configure Components \ Email notifications and tested, all is good.
I noticed that under "Report Delivered By: I only have "Windows File Share".  No Deliver by Email option.
I see that the report ran as how I wanted it.  The result was there but where is my email? Am I missing any more steps?
Thanks for your help in advance!

  • Alerts for events showing two time zones? Alerts happening at odd times.

I just set a new event for later today using the calender app. I set two alerts, one for 30 mins before, and one for 15 minutes before. It is currently TWO hours until the appointment, but my phone just gave me the alert saying "*event name* in 30 minues (6:30, 5:30 ADT)"
Why is my phone suddently telling me when my events are happening in ADT? (That means Atlantic Daylight Time... I think!) And why is it giving me the alert 2 hours before, rather than the set 30 mins?

It just happened again! I wrote down exactly what it said.
    the current time is 5:00
    the message said:
    " Table Viewers
    Today at 5:30pm (6:30pm ADT)"
The event is set to happen at 6:30.
What the heck is going on??

  • HELP! I've created a template for event badges and have been instructed by the client to insert the (200 ) names and relevant companies into it...Is there a script that can do this in illustrator? Should I be using Indesign?

An events client I'm working for have asked me to create a template for badges. Rather than ask the printers to insert the names and companies of the individuals present at the event though, they want me to create all of the pdf files for (200+) people!
I have an excel sheet of the people that will be present. My question is: is there a way to automate this? to define editable areas in a template and run some sort of batch processing script?
    Thanks!

This would be a perfect job for Data Merge in InDesign. You can place your AI design into InDesign (minus the text fields), and then easily create a merge.

  • How to create an Alert for customer birthday

    Hello,
We need to create an alert on the context area - alerts area - when we meet a customer that have a birthday today.
Does anybody know how to do it? steps to do it?
    thanks in advance
    Sara

    Hello Sara,
You can change either the colour of the alert that is displayed in the first row (first alert) or the second row (second alert) or both.
You will have to modify the stylesheet for this. Here are the instructions.
(I assume want a red coloured alert)
    1. Open BSP Application CRMCMP_IC_FRAME in SE80.
    2. Open for Change MIMES/stylesheets/contextarea/<SKIN>/crmcmp_ic_frame_contextarea.css in Notepad (or any text editor)
    3. Search for the string '.firstalert' (without the single quotes)
    4. For red coloured top alert, change the above string to '.firstalert' (without the single quotes)
    5. Search for '.secondalert' and replace it with '.secondalert'.
    6. Save the file and quit notepad.
    7. Clear the web browser cache and the ICM Cache (tx. SMICM=>menu Goto=>HTTP Server Cache=>Invalidate=>Global In System)
    8. Start ICWebClient and send an alert.

  • How does Calendar coordinate Time Zones for events?

By clicking a link at my seminar's web site, I told Mountain Lion Calendar to store an upcoming event that takes place in the Pacific Time Zone. I am in the Central Time Zone. If I visit Calendar, the event shows the Pacific Time start. How do I get calendar to show me the Central Time start when I go to Calendar. I don't want to have to guess which is which?

Mail Preferences. I think this is what Kappy is referring to if you haven't found it.

  • I want to create a timeline for events which have occurred in my past life

IT would be better if I could run several at a time for example Work Life, Personal life, health events etc
I would like to tie documents, pictures etc to them
I would like to be able to present the timeline in either printed or projected form or both
it is to help explain a sequence of events over a ten year period
i do not mind paying but as this is not a commercial enterprise i do not want to pay to much

Try going to the App Store, and search on things like timeline, other teams that come to mind.  A quick look turned up several programs that track timelines, calendar timelines, for various prices.  The default Calendar program is not designed to do this.
You can use other programs, also, such as Keynote to create graphics of events.
