Calendar creations in PSE 5

I recently upgraded from PSE 3 to PSE 5. Every month I would pick a nice picture and create and print a calendar creation from PSE 3. However, I only see the on-line calendar service in PSE 5. Where did the simple printable calendar go?
If Adobe removed this capability to act as a shill for Kodak, I am going to be very unhappy, especially since the database is changed irreversibly.
Thanks,
John S.

I recently upgraded from PSE4 to PSE6 (yeah, right before PSE7 is announced!) and they seem to have taken a lot of really useful features out of PSE! :-( Some for no apparently good reason (like the file name and copyright status in Quick Edit) and others, like the Creations simply to get a kick-back from a service provider.
It really takes the shine off something I am otherwise generally happy with.

  • Iphoto calendar creation won't let me make a calendar more than 12 months long even though I have chosen a 14 page calendar

    In iphoto calendar creation, I have selected a 13 month calendar from December 2012-December 2013, wanting 13 pages.  I have selected all my photos for the year and have started placing them in the Calendar.  I'm at October and noticed that December is missing.  Thought maybe i didn't request a 13 month calendar, but I have.  Seems like the more months I want in the calendar, the end months keep dropping off.  If i want a 14 month calendar starting in November 2012, then November and December 2013 are then gone. so....I changed it over and over trying to get the months back, but to no avail.  I've created a new empty project calendar, requesting 13 months, and all 13 months are there.  Problem is.....how do I get all the pictures from the old calendar over to the new ones without having to reselected 200 pictures again?  Or is there a way to fix the original missing pages?  Thanks.

    Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then your current library is the culprit.
    In that case make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Calendar creation not working

    Hi Everyone
    I just purchased iLife 08, and I am running 10.5.1
    i can make books (i have made several) and I can make cards, but when i click the calendar, nothing happens.
    Am I missing something?
    I have been using Mac's since the mid 80's and have thousands of pics in my iPhoto.
    thanks as always!

    I assume that you have selected some photos - either in an event or in an album - and clicked on calendar
    from iPhoto Help
    To create a calendar:
    Select one or more albums, or a group of photos, that you want in your calendar.
    Click the Add button in the bottom-left corner of the iPhoto window, then click Calendar in the dialog.
    Type a name for your calendar.
    Select a design for your calendar from the scrolling themes list.
    When you select a theme, you can see an example of it to the right of the themes list. Some themes offer text; some don’t. If you want to go to the iPhoto website to see detailed descriptions and pricing, click the Options + Prices button.
    Click Choose.
    Choose the month and year you want your calendar to begin with.
    Choose the number of months you want your calendar to include (up to 24).
    Choose the national holidays you want to appear in your calendar.
    Choose one or more iCal calendars that you want to have imported into your iPhoto calendar. (If you don’t use iCal, you won’t see anything in the “Import iCal calendars” field.)
    Click OK.
    iPhoto switches to calendar view, and your new calendar appears in the Source list.
    Drag photos from the left of the iPhoto window onto your calendar pages.
    If you want iPhoto to automatically design your calendar by arranging the selected photos on each page for you, click the Autoflow button.

    why doesn't my photo albums import show up in the right side of the window pane when trying to create a calendar in iPhoto?

    make an album of the photos you want in the calendar, select them all in the album and create your calendar - if you want additional photos in it later drag them form an event or album to the calender project

  • Notes to be implemenented after Factory and holiday calendar are extended.

    Hi All,
    Since most of SAP Factory and Holiday Calendar used had Validity date that ends on 12/31/2010 we have extended them till 2020.
    This was done manually using SAP note 1529469 and 501670.
    We have also implemented SAP Note 1532398 to avoid jobs going to dump that are running to deleted old spool request in SAP.
    We would like to know if there are any other note to be implemented in our SAP production system as a part of year end activity related to Factory and holiday Calendar.
    We could find the below note under 1532398
    1534735 - Job terminates with error message BT 518
    1532398 - Spool requests are no longer deleted as of beginning of year
    574628 - Change calendar dates in production system
    538344 - Transporting calendar dates
    501670 - Public Holiday Calendar Creation/Change
    1529649 - Factory Calendar expires 2010
    Thanks

    Hi
    I suppose the notes 1529649 - Factory Calendar expires 2010 and 501670 - Public Holiday Calendar Creation/Change are sufficient for the extensions.
    I don't any extra tasks are involved during the year end activity as far as factory / holiday calendar is concerned.

  • I don't have the Speed menu for PSE 13 to make my Slideshow.

    I have been trying to learn how to make Photo Slideshows with the Photoshop Elements 13.  I have viewed many tutorial videos and am now learning that I should have a 'speed' menu option that syncs the slides to the music.  It shows the options either normal, brisk or no sync (as default).  However, when I open the slideshow builder there is no sign of the 'speed' option - I have even tried to save and reopen from the Organizer to edit and still nothing.  Am I missing something - do I need to change a preference?  Please help - I really miss Slideshow Creation in PSE 11

    I don't have PSE 13, but you may need to be in a different mode (Expert, Quick, Guided tabs at the top of the editor interface).

  • Create Calendar showing events

    When I create a calendar using Photoshop 4 I want to have all of my events show on it. I have entered all of my events in the calendar view in the organizer but they don't show up on the finished calendar. When I create a calendar I cant figure out how to get my events listed on the finished calendar.
    Thanks
    Tim

    >When I create a calendar I cant figure out how to get my events listed on the finished calendar.
    If you mean the Calendar Creation that you print (and I think you do), I don't believe that those events will print. They are visible in the Date View of the Organizer - but the Calendar creation does not print them.
    You are far from the first person to discover this after you have entered your events. There is a Features Request subforum/folder here at
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.ef32bec/
    so you can enter a request for a future version of Elements to print these events in Calendar creations.
    I don't work for Adobe, so I can't give you any reason why. However, I do agree it is reasonable for you to expect that these events that you have entered would print.

  • Creating an event calendar with Muse

    I have a client that wants an events calendar.
    We want to use MUSE to build this calendar and have it updateable by the project manager on the client side.
    I followed some links to a Business Catalyst forum article that talks about this issue. I read it thoroughly, and logged into Business Catalyst as suggested in that post (see link here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5077545#5077545#5077545)
    Once inside of Business Catalyst I got overwhelmed, and generally confused. I don't know which product does what, I don't know what I need and I don't know how any of it works.
    For example, let's hypothetically imagine that I bought the "webMarketing" package at $18.88 USD / month. Will that allow me to place calendar modules onto pages inside of MUSE?
    Ideally any upgrade via business catalyst will allow me to create blogs and calendars. I need to keep costs down and be able to give access to the client's marketing team to manage the calendar once we've finished with it.
    Eventually the client will want to build a community forum - not sure if there is a business catalyst tool that will help us do that, but if so it's something we would like to be made aware of for the future.
    Anyway, again: I am having a hard time figuring out what to do to get event calendar creation via MUSE.

    You can add events module to muse pages if you are hosting the site on BC , else you can use any third party event scheduler.

  • Making calendars

    I'm trying to make a calendar. Sometimes, when I drag a photo into one of the spaces when there are three or four photo spaces on a page, the entire page rearranges itself. A vertical rectangle becomes a horizontal rectangle, so the photo no longer works in that space, and it screws everything else up. Is there any way to override the autoflow, or whatever is causing that? Is there any way to set up the arrangement of the photo spaces manually. It seems you're stuck with how the program wants to arrange them.

    Hi Mando,
    I probably shouldn't reply to this because I don't even have iPhoto 6 yet, but I can tell you that the same sort of thing happens when I create books in iPhoto 5. I'm betting that there is a "page design" choice or something like that somewhere on the calendar creation page where you can choose how many pictures you want in your design. Still, though, the photos need to be a certain ratio in order to "fit" the predesigned templates, so if you've done drastic cropping, your picture might not work.
    Also, if you try to put a horizontal picture in a vertical predesigned box, iPhoto will rearrange the entire page template to accommodate the fact that your picture doesn't "fit" their idea of good design.
    Hope this has been of some help.
    --Julie
    P.S. I'm still waiting before I upgrade to iPhoto 6. I'm too chicken!

  • IPhoto Problem - The "Calendar" button does nothing when you click on it...

    This problem concerns Apple iPhoto (version 7.1.4) software running on an iMac (with Leopard 10.5.5, 1.8 GHz PPC and 1.25 GB of memory). We can open and run iPhoto with no problems but as soon as we create an album (with 20 to 40 selected photos in it) and we go to click on the "calendar" icon to start to make a calendar project then nothing happens. Clicking on the "calendar" icon / button shows up as if something should happen but the calendar creation window / option box never appears on the screen. I have re-installed the iPhoto program twice. I have done all the O.S. and iPhoto updates and still it will not work. Has anyone else had this happen to them and, if so, have you been able to fix the problem?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Before you do an archive and install create a new test calendar, import a few photo and see if the Calendar button works there. If so then it's your library. To create a new library launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed and select the Option to Create Library.
    If the new library doesn't work either log into another account, and try there. If the calendar button still doesn't work a reinstall of iPhoto is warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
    If the calendar button works OK in the other account then your account is the culprit. It could be a preference file other than iPhoto's that causing the problem. To determine of that's the case do the following:
    Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    Open the library package like this.
    Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
    This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Prepared statement - setDate(index, sql.Date, Cal) Help!

    Hi everyone, I'm creating a form to query an Oracle table. I'm setting up the search criteria which includes a start and end date. (in this example I've just used the start date)
    I get all the search parameters into my JSP and I created the following Calendar objects:
    // Calendar creation
    Calendar startCal = Calendar.getInstance();
    startCal.set(start_year, start_month, start_day, start_hour, start_minute);
    Calendar endCal = Calendar.getInstance();
    endCal.set(end_year, end_month, end_day, end_hour, end_minute);
    //define a sql.Date value for start and end date
    java.sql.Date startDate = null;
    java.sql.Date endDate = null;I then create a string that contains my SQL statement:
    String sqlStmt = "select dateValue, value3 from someTable where dateValue >= ? and value2 = ?";In my Prepared Statement I pass in the following information:
    ps = c.prepareStatement(sqlStmt);
    ps.setDate(1, startDate, startCal);
    ps.setString(2, searchValue);My question is the following - I define the hour and minute in my Cal object - will that information get passed into my "startDate" sql.Date object? According to the API it should work (at least that's my understading of it):
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/PreparedStatement.html#setDate(int,%20java.sql.Date,%20java.util.Calendar)
    My search does not blow up or report any errors but it never finds a match - even when I put in parameters that I know are a match.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

    I think I got it. my java.sql.Date can't be null.
    java.sql.Date startDate = null;
    java.sql.Date endDate = null;needs to be:
    java.util.Date startCalendarDate = startCal.getTime();
    java.util.Date endCalendarDate = endCal.getTime();
    java.sql.Date startDate = new java.sql.Date(startCalendarDate.getTime());
    java.sql.Date endDate = new java.sql.Date(endCalendarDate.getTime());

  • Elements file saved as PDF --is it PDF/x-1a vector? or is it a raster file?

    Hi,
    Have a magazine requiring vector rather than raster*.  How do I tell which my Photoshop Elements saves it as?  And if I find out it is a raster, how do I change it to vector?
    As well, since I have no idea how their printer is color profiled, I'm wondering if I should send them a PDF at all.  Can a magazine color correct a pdf?
    Thanks,
    *"WE DO NOT ACCEPT  PDF/X-1A RASTER FILES!"

    PSE doesn't create the kind of file you need. That's the long and the short of it. PDF creation from PSE is extremely basic and doesn't include much of the information needed by commercial print shops. PSE is meant for home use, not for commercial work, and adobe makes sure that it's very hard to avoid buying pro-level software for pro-level work by keeping those features out of Elements. There is no way to create vector output from PSE.
    The best thing to do is to talk to your printer and explain the situation. They may be able to work with something you can output in a regular image format, but it will undoubtedly cost you, because they will have to do much extra work.

    After having trouble with iPhoto hanging my Mac on trying to launch 18 months ago, I bought Aperture and have been using it.  I also got a video card replacement. Now, I want to re-install iPhoto from the iLife '11  DVD I bought, and use the calendar creation part of it.  When I try to do so, an alert that the pkg has an invalid certificate (see screen shot).  So, I have tried to Continue anyway and after installation, iPhoto says it has to check for updates, and that reports that all is up to date.  However, iPhoto will not launch.  Nothing.
    So, if I dont continue, I get the info below about the certificate, which expired in March 2012.  What can I do about this?
