Calendar data not in "Home" library folder

Tried looking for home/library/calendar. In order to back up my lost calenda revents with time machine, I would like to know where those events are stored so I don't have to back up my whole computer. As mentioned in the discussion table there is no calendar in the library folder.

If you synchronize any of your calendars with a server, disable that synchronization. Quit Calendar.
Triple-click the line below to select it: ~/Library/Calendars Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Enter Time Machine and restore that folder from the snapshot you want.
Relaunch Calendar and test. Your calendars should be as they were when the snapshot was taken. If you don't sync with a server, stop here. If you do sync some of the calendars with a server, select each one in turn and then select
File ▹ Export ▹ Export…
from the menu bar. You'll get ICS files with the filename extension ".ics". Re-enable sync. Usually, all the calendars you just restored will be deleted. That's not a problem. Create a new calendar on the server for each one you exported and want to sync:
File ▹ New Calendar
Then import the calendar from the corresponding ICS file by double-clicking it. Follow the prompts to import the new events to the calendar you just created. For calendars that you don't want to sync, just import them again. They'll appear in the calendar list under On My Mac.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • My home folder (not my home library folder) seems to be invisible to the Finder

I can see it by listing the /Users directory in the Terminal, but in the Finder, when I drill down from the Masintosh HD level, I can see all the other users home directories, but not my own ... which still appears in the sidebar.  Checking volume structure via Disk Utility and DiskWarrior uncover no problems.
    Additional tidbits …
When I use the hierarchical pulldown in the Finder toolbar, my home directory is greyed out … this does not occur when performing this action from any of the other home directories.
Also, when I do  "ls -fla" from the Users directory in Terminal, my directory has an @ suffix, which is supposed to indicate a symbolic link, but this is not the case … at least I have not attempted to relocate my home directory elsewhere.
When I select the home folder icon in the sidebar, and do a Get Info (command-i), the directory name is similarly greyed out.  Nothing else looks anomalous, and everything "appears" to be working OK.
    What's wrong here?

  • Home Library folder was moved, all settings are now gone

    Hello all-
I'm having a serious dilemma, and could really use some help. My MacBook Pro has been having some issues lately: running slowly, constantly kicking me out of Safari for no reason & all together just acting "wrong". About a month ago after reading several posts on this and other forums I decided to download OnyX to keep my system in good order. Upon first running OnyX it told me that my start-up volume needed to be repaired before it would proceed. Scared to do this for fear of screwing something up worse, I stupidly ignored it and went about my life. Then last week my favourite freeware app, xPad, all of a sudden stopped working. This reminded me about the volume issue and I checked the volume with Disk Utility and yes, there were problems. I was told to fix it by using the install discs. I had planned on doing it later that night (though I wasn't sure how) but I thought it would be beneficial to have a copy of my "Home (Shortname) folder" before doing so, in case I screwed something else up. This is where my real problems began.
I made a burn folder of my "Home folder" but realized that the "Library" folder was somehow not in the burn folder. I can't be certain what happened from here. I know I freaked out. I put the burn folder in the trash and restarted my computer. Probably a stupid thing to do, but I admittedly have never known what to do with a burn folder if you don't want it any longer. Well, upon restart it was obvious that I had mucked something up because I was shown the blue apple screen instead of my regular desktop picture, my Dock had several question marks and everything was back to the original settings instead of my brushed metal settings. Though most of my icons were still there and the applications and documents folders seemed unharmed. I began Safari and it too was all amuck. I then took the burn folder out of the trash along with anything I found in "Recovered Files" folders, of which there where several and put them on my desktop. It seems that my Home Library Folder was indeed in the trash along with my Documents, Macintosh HD, Public and several others, plus the Burn Folder with all of the aliases to those folders minus the Library folder (if that makes any sense) & they are now all on my desktop. So now after that long rambling preface, for which I apologize, my questions are as follows:
    1) If I move the Library Folder on my Desktop back to the Home(Shortname) folder will everything be all right again? i.e., applications will run correctly and find their data and life will go on as planned? Or is there something else I need to do instead?
    2) After fixing this dilemma what do I do with all of the folders that are now on my desktop? Particularly my Macintosh HD, Documents, Public and Burn Folder? It seems that trashing them was where the real problems began.
    3) Is it then safe to automatically try to do the reinstall via Disk Utility?
I suppose we should just start with getting this Library matter settled first. Any suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. It seems I know just enough about my Mac to mess it up. So I will gladly take all the advice anyone can give. I thank you all in advance for your help.
    -Angela

Thanks for the quick responses you guys, sorry it took me a while to get back. I did as you suggested bdkjones and all seems to be well. Unfortunately, xPad is still not working and I had hoped that the Startup Disk Repair would solve whatever issue that was, but alas it did not. I'll write the creator of that specific program to see if he has any suggestions, unless anyone else does in the meantime. But as for my prior predicament, though I haven't checked everything folder by folder yet, things seems fine so far. I truly appreciate the help. I pretty much knew what to do but just needed the encouragement of someone saying "Do this. You're on the right path. You won't ruin everything." And don't worry I'll be taking care of any future repairs as soon as I know about them from now on. It was really quite a scare for a while there.
Once again thanks and if you or anyone have any other morsels of info you feel like throwing my way about system maintenance or anything in the Mac realm you feel I should know please feel free. The last few days have made me realize I'm at that dangerous level in computer knowledge where I seem to know just enough to muck something up but not quite how to fix it.

  • Finder not showing user library folder

When I open Finder on my iMac, then click on my user name in the sidebar, I am not seeing the Library folder for my user name.  I need to modify some of the application support folders for specific applications, but I cannot find them using Finder.  These folders are specific to my user name and are not located within the Macintosh HD/Library folder for the entire computer.
They should be in the path Macintosh HD/Users/[my username]/Library/Application Support/[application name].
But for some reason, the "Library" folder doesn't even show up in Finder when I click on Macintosh HD/Users/[my username].  It's visible when I open one of the applications and use preferences to access folders in the application support folder for that application, but not when trying to get to the same location using Finder -- which I need to do in order to copy and paste some of the files.
Any ideas on why my user-specific Library folder isn't being shown in Finder?

J.Richardson: I'm sorry, but what you described is not intuitive at all (to me, at least). Mac OS is not bad at all, but unless Apple gets off their high horse and maybe provides some *intuitive* controls for fine-grain system administration, people will continue to have valid points to cite Windows (version whatever) as having legitimate advantages over Mac. Recent example that they FINALLY changed; not being able to resize windows from any border.
Humboldtrick: Thanks for the terminal command! I was also incredibly frustrated by this change.
    Thomas A Reed:
I have noticed the train wreck when dealing with (for instance) a SQLite management program - trying to view the contents of a database created in the temp space XCode's "iPhone Simulator" uses - can't browse into the correct directory, nor does the search tool look within the directory, NOR can you simply type a path in. Only other way I would've been able to access files created there would be to use terminal to copy them to a directory not within the "Library", every single time I wanted to view the results of a change! Since the process lost efficiency, and gained annoyance for no benefit to me, that is a train wreck. Also, your "chflags nohidden ~/Library" syntax only works if the user has terminal sitting at the correct directory; there was no reason at all to have griped about what Humboldtrick provided.

  • Manual Migration to Mountain Lion: but can't see the home library folder.

    Hi,
This is my first post in the Apple support community.
I'm moving from iMac running Snow Leopard to my MacBook Pro retina running Mountain Lion.
I only want to move what I really need, and leave all the old software and old files behind.
I put the MacBook Pro in target disc mode and started moving things through a FireWire 800 cable, connected to a Thunderbolt port through an Apple adapter.
Until I came to the items in the home library folder to move - and, of course - I couldn't see the home library folder on my retina MacBook Pro.
The key question is: can I make it visible for the time of the move?
Should I put the old iMac in target disc mode and handle the move from the retina Macbook Pro side and unhide the library folder using the Command + Shift + G keystroke?
Or are the days of manual migration over due to the hidden home library folder?
Applecare support noted I should use the migration assistant, and that I could chose the files I wanted to move.
Can you really do it in such a detail as during a manual migration?
    Thanks!

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/ as the path.

  • Home/Library folder missing among other things (Lion 10.7.1)

Since I upgraded to Lion, my 1 year old iMac has been running incredibly slow. It takes forever for any apps to open. Printing takes forever, and Preview - forget about it.
Versions worked right after the install, but not since.
Today, an application which I have been using for a long time (but not every day) stopped working. I went to update some plugins, but to do so I had to go into home/library/application support/ ... That's when I found the folder missing!
I imagin this is why my system is so slow and wonky. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks, in advance, Fran

Thanks so much for this! Any suggestions on the cause of the slowness and missing parts of Lion - like Versions? It's probably staring me in the face (like the "missing" folder).

  • I can not access existing library folder when editing a previously saved book, please help

    Hi
I am a 3rd year University student, brand new to lightroom and am creating (trying to) create 3 books for my final university assignment.
I have created and saved "RABBET FINAL", and then carried on with the next 2 books, I now would like to go back and add more images to "RABBET FINAL", but when i select the the library folder I used previously called "All that i have", it automatically opens a new unsaved book. I then try to click on my saved book "RABBET FINAL", and it changes a library folder to a folder which only the images which are already in "RABBET FINAL"
When I hover the cursor over the library folder at the bottom, it says "ALL that i have + unsaved book. Is this the issue?
The BOOK also has a "+" next to it, is this causing it not to allow me to select from a different library?
    I hope this makes sense.
    [email protected]

A saved book behaves like an ordinary collection.
In the book module click on RABBET FINAL in the left hand panel. It will have a double page book icon if it’s a saved book. Now right click on that saved book and choose Set As target Collection. A plus sign will indicate it is the target.
Now return to the Library and the folder with the images you wish to add. Use shift-click to select (highlight) the images you want or Ctrl+Click for individual non-consecutive images. With all of them selected press the B key and you should see confirmation that they have been added to RABBET FINAL.
Return to the book module and click on RABBET FINAL and you should see your extra images in the film strip. Click on add page and drag each image from the film strip up on to the new page. Be careful to click in the center of each filmstrip image and not one of the thumbnail icons.

  • Iphone 4 Calendar date not showing the write date

I just upgraded to the ios 5.1.1 from 4.2.1. I have a Iphone 4. After the upgrade, my iphone's Calendar date is not showing the right date. in order for the right date to show, I either have to re-start my iphone or I have to go into settings/general/date&time and turn off the set automatically off than on in order for it to show the right date. I didn't have this problem before the upgrade. I hope someone can help?

I had a similar problem and then found that my calendar was not set for the right date and year.  Check that first.

  • Sync Unsuccessful Calendar data not migrated: Error of "Failed to commit changes to device."

Unable to sync calendar data between Z10 and Outlook 2013. Deselected contacts and only trying calendar. I moved the amount of dates 6months to 30 days.
Using all current Office and Bb software. Error of "Failed to commit changes to device."

This has been a recurring error with BB Link for quite awhile now.  Why doesn't BB do something about it.  I get the "Failed to commit changes to device" with my Contacts and haven't found a solution.  There are other discussions on this fourm concerning this problem, and they haven't solved the problem for everybody yet.
Some have solved the problem by deleting all of their bblink's, but that is all I use to sync my BB with Windows 7.
    Please BB, do something.

  • 100,000+ "image" files in Address Book's home Library folder

I was backing up my home folder and noticed that the directory ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Images had 105,619 files taking up over 800 MB of space. I was wondering if anyone else has had this "problem" (I'm not sure what to call it...)

    Hi
Sorry about the delay in replying to your last message, but I've had a print deadline to meet, which always puts everything else on hold.
I've opened a few of the .abcdp files with Text Edit and the information is in there, buried among loads of code, so many thanks for telling me that. I've beamed the address book from my other half's Palm (which used to be mine) over to mine, so I should have most of the current contacts which I hope I can transfer onto the iMac. The missing ones, distant members of my family for instance, I will have to search for in the .abcdp files and enter manually into AB (always remembering to take a backup regularly!).
Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a Mac running Leopard, in fact I only know one other person with a Mac. We freed ourselves from the thralldom of the PC only three years ago and are still the odd ones out with colleagues and friends. Having the Macs has made using a computer enjoyable for the first time in 25 years, ever since we bought a Commodore 700 and I began the daily struggle with various pieces of user-hostile software.
Many thanks for helping me out. I've put Snow Leopard at the top of my shopping list by the way.
    Regards
    Susan

  • E71 - Future calendar dates appearing on home scre...

Again, sorry this is probably obvious but I've been searching the forums for an hour without finding an answer.
I have entered a meeting into my calendar for a date in the future - about 4 days ahead. But the appointment has shown up in the home screen immediately. Is it possible to only see appointments appearing on the home screen each day? (or the day the appointment is set for, at least).
I've tried to fiddle with this via Enabled Applications but there isn't an option for it.

I think its good that it shows you the appointment earlier, it keeps reminding you that way..check this post you may find it helpful: /discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&thread.id=30108

  • Dashboard prompt calendar date not filtering results

I have a report with a date value. I custom formatted the date to MM/dd/yy and the report shows it correctly. I created a dashboard prompt with a calendar control and "is between" operator. However, the date never gets filtered. All values are shown. Do I have to change anything in the prompt because I custom formatted the date?
Ahh.. forgot to add "is prompted" to column filter

    Hi Subbu,
Thanks, but my question is a bit different.
I want to have 2 'Dashboard' Prompts:
    1) Country - The default value for which should be set to the logged in User's Country. Later the user can choose to select a different country.
    2) Calendar Year/Month - For this I want to limit the restrict the values that are displayed, i.e. they should start from 2010 / 01 and end at Current Month. So I need the variable that would work with this field.
I am unable to get solution for both of the above.
    Regards,
    Ady
