Calendar files deleted

On Thurs, before traveling, I didn't notice this msg in the log when I hot-synched:
-- OK Media
-- Calendar
- Some handheld records weren't copied to your PC. Computer may be full or you may have reached the max. allowed records on desktop. To correct situation, delete some records and perform a HotSync operation again.
Desktop = 3879, Handheld = 3877
OK Calendar with 1 message(s)
Over the 4 days since, I noticed that almost all calendar records were deleted fm the handheld. Desktop same. Is there an archive file somewhere that I could upload and start over? (And, no, I don't select "archive" when I delete any records.)
These records "disappeared" without any action from me...l didn't notice the log msg, did act on it, but lost hundreds (looks like thousands) of records.
Thanks to anyone with an idea.

the syncing for calendars is either from the computer to iphone - and they mirror each other
or if you have the advanced tab of the info page selected it replaces the phone info with the computer info - but not the other way around
Does outlook backup their data- I don't have outlook but maybe you could contact them.

  • Is it possible to lose all calendar settings on exchange server if you delete the Library/Calendar file?

    I set up on Office 2011 for mac calendars for multiple direct reports that I have given access to a deligate. She will put info into the calendar and it will show up on her side, but not mine, and vise versa. All on Exchange 2007 server. So I read a piece that said to delete the Library/Calendar files and it will reconnect as it sees there is not one.
    Now I have no calendar or appointments. What to do.
    Bye the way the reason I was doing this was I was tired of Office and was migrating back to iCal and Mail.app

    Will all the petinent updating and manipulating permissions remain as they were intended per the original invite?
    Many thanks again.  I was hesitant to post thinking I was missing something simple and standard.  Thanks for your quick and courteous response.
    You are welcome.
    Since shared information is temporary yours (temporary while being shared) you should be fine. CalDav is just underlying exchange protocol. So as long as you can see that info shared -CalDav is just a delivery vehicle.
    As far as permissions - yes they are going to stay. Thousands of us share for example Google calendars, cause Google integrated calendars sync in IOS mail. The question is just as simple as if your exchange supports it and if they(your IT) are going to allow your ipad/iphone connect to it.(Make sure to get their instructions if your exchange requires specific setup)

    How do I get a "Calendars" file off my desktop.  Where is it supposed to go?  It has files of recent calendars in it and I'm afraid to delete it.

    When I tried I was given a notice that there was a newer version in the library, so I trashed it.

  • Is there a way to recover purged calendar files for Tungsten T5?

    I accidently purged 2 months of calendar files from my Tungsten T5 a few days ago. The kicker to this scenario is I hotsynced my PDA 2 months ago. I did not check the "save archive on pc" in the dialog box. Is there a way to recover the deleted calendar records?

    I take it that the calendar data is also not in Palm DT any longer? Have you synced more then once? There is a backup made automatically in the Palm software; but it would be overwritten if you have synced more then once.
    If your data is not on the device, or in Palm DT software, and you have synced more then once, there would not be any way to recover your data unless your computer has been backed up at some point within the 2 months.

  • Recovering Calendar files from Time Machine backups in Mavericks

    I have somehow deleted all previous Calendars and entries prior to the day I set up iCloud. They have gone from iCloud also. This occurred after I tried to remove duplicates. Calendar entries after setting up iCloud are more or less OK but everything before that day has gone (except for birthdays and a few other entries).
    Can I recover them from a previous (Mavericks) time-machine backup and if so how please?
    I have looked for calendar files on my external backup HD but can't see anything recognisable.
    Other posts on this topic seem to refer to previous operating systems.

    I used the process outlined here successfuly just now:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudtm.html
    I am running Mavericks. Things I learned or to clarify/amplify what he says (at the URL I just listed):
    * If you have partial data saved in Calendar now, I highly recommend you export and save it as an .ics file so you won't lose anything.
    * Make sure you close Calendar before trying to restore.
    * To restore Calendar files, go back to the date you want to restore in Time Machine, and in your home folder (or whatever you may have renamed it), go to Library > Calendar. Highlight ALL files in this folder. The Restore button should turn white in the bottom right of the Time Machine and hit that. It will move them all into your calendar.
    * Follow his procedure otherwise. When you import the old data into your newly created On My Mac version of your calendar, it will say there is a "new event" or message and ask you where you want to put it. That would be the newly created calendar you just set up chosen off the list. It's pretty obvious but his directions didn't say so I like to be explicit with details.
    * I found that calendars I had created since losing my old ones were not overwritten or lost when I followed the above procedure.

  • ICal/Calendar data deleted during sync with MM

    Somehow I managed to delete the contents of nearly all my calendars last night.  They're gone on all my handhelds and from my iMac - there is still a nearly-complete copy on one of my MacBooks.  I shut off wifi on that computer until I can figure out a way to fix this.
    Based on reading other Q&A, I believe that I have to either use the iCal Backup command for each calendar, delete the calendars in iCal on that MB, and then reimport them and sync with MM.  I also thought there might be a chance that I can just back up the calendar files that are in my Library, delete the calendars in iCal on the MB and reimport.  It may be possible that I could just back up the calendar files in the Library and reopen the sync to MM and see what happens - I can then force the sync to use the data that's on my computer.  I'm leery of doing that last one because I don't know what will happen when I turn wifi back on to allow the sync to happen - I'm afraid that the MM contents (now nearly empty) will wipe out the iCal information on the MB.
    I think this all happened because I was syncing a large amount of data from 2Do on my iPhone to MM Calendar (or so I thought) and the latest update from 2Do had reset the default sync server address to be in iCloud.  I'm in the process of moving to the cloud, but so far all I've done is updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS5.1 (within the past couple of days).  After that sync process went on for some time, I got a sync error from either iOS5.1 or from 2Do, and in response I chose the "revert to server" option (instead of the "use the data on my computer" or whatever it said), and by that time my MM calendar was toast.  Everything was working just fine up to that moment, and I've been slowly getting ready to move to iCloud in the next day or two.  This problem won't stop that if I can get the calendars restored - I have far too much information in iCal to just ignore the matter and move on.
    So my question is whether or not the process outlined in paragraph 2 above is the appropriate approach to repairing this inconvenience, or if there's a better way to do it.

    Greetings Mike,
    Something has gone wrong in the sync process.
    As you indicate your best set of data is on your MacBook I would suggest:
    Make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to the desktop of the computer that still has calendars.
    Go to me.com and add 1 new blank calendar
    Delete all calendars but the 1 new blank calendar (this removes any potentially corrupt data being stored in MobileMe).
    Turn WiFi back on on your Macbook and go to Calendars > Refresh All -- The calendars that were feeding from MobileMe should vanish as you deleted them from the server.
    Go to File > New Calendar > MobileMe and create a new calendar for each of the ones you exported from iCal do your desktop.
    Double-click each of the calendars you exported to the desktop one at a time and import them to the new calendar place holder you created for them in step 5.  Allow each calendar to import and upload to MobileMe before you go to the next calendar (this may take some time depending on your Internet connection upload speed which is traditionally low for most consumer level ISPs.)
    Side note:
    Your profile here says you are running 10.6.7.  I assume you have upgraded to Lion as that is required for iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
    If you haven't upgraded to Lion: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949 you will want to do that before MobileMe service ends in June.  Keep in mind before upgrading you want to make sure all your commonly use Applications are Lion compatible and that you have a current backup of your data: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427.
    Hope that helps!

  • 1 calendar file, 2 computers

    Hi, I want to access a calendar file on two computers. One is a mac powerbook G4 with iCal, one is a MS Server03 with Mozilla Calendar.
    What is the best way to do this?
    Ideally, I want to have it via a webserver. It seems there are some issues with publishing Calendars (ftp not possible, but webDAV).
    Can I upload the *.ics file on a ftp server, download it, sync it with the local version, edit it in either iCal or Calendar, upload it, download it, sync it with the other local version,... ?
    I've been trying this via an ipod and synchronization via iTunes (and not webserver). However, iCal would put the most recent version on the iPod, I could sync that with Calendar, and then put the new ics file back on the iPod. But then, when i synced it with iTunes, the edits weren't there anymore. Is that what should happen, or did I do something wrong?
    Thanks for your help!
    powerbookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Syncing to an iPod is one-way only. When you sync with iTunes it always overlays the iPod calendar files with the current iCal files. You could do this I suppose,
    Put calendar events in iCal, and sync to the iPod with iTunes. That will create an ics file in the Calendars folder on the iPod. Before disconnecting either turn off calendar syncing or turn off auto-start iTunes when the iPod is plugged in.
    Plug the iPod into your Windows PC and load the ics file into Mozilla Calendar. Edit it as you wish and sync to the iPod again. Now the iPod ics file should be synced with Mozilla.
    Plug the iPod back into your Mac. Start up iCal. Delete the calendar from iCal. Import the ics file from the iPod Calendars folder into iCal. At that point iCal, the iPod, and Mozilla Calendar should all be in agreement.
    Cumbersome certainly, but it should work.

  • Export Calendar File

    I'm working on a calendar for a friend on their computer. I was wondering if there was a way for me to export the calendar file, where ever that is, to a format that I can upload to my public iDisk Folder & then import into my iPhoto at home? Hope that makes sense.

    Joe:
    The only way would be to duplicate your iPhoto library folder, open it with iPhoto (launch with the Option key depressed and select the other library folder when asked) and delete all of the photos that are not in the calendar. This will leave a small iPhoto Library folder that can be uploaded to your iDisk or burned to a CD for transporting to your Mac at home.
    Then copy that folder to the desktop and open it with iPhoto as described above. If you need additional photos in the calendar library you can do that with iPhoto Library Manager which will let you select albums or rolls from one library and transfer to another. You'll need the purchased version to do more than 10 at a time.
    It's a good way of working on books also, creating a separate library for each. That way when the book is complete and ordered, you can burn that folder to a CD via the Finder for use later if you want to order another copy.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

    I have an iMac purchased in May 2011.  OSX Lion 10.7.3.  I deleted backup file from the external hard drive which operates from Time Machine.

    The trash contains-- File folder: "Core Services" which contains a locked file: "boot.efi".
    It will not delete.
    How do I get the trash can empty of these files?

    Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
    In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

  • File.delete() and File.deleteOnExit() doesn't work consistently..

    I am seeing some odd behavior with trying to delete files that were opened. Usually just doing new File("file.txt").delete() would work. However, in this case, I have created an input stream to the file, read it in, saved it to another location (copied it), and now I am trying to delete it.
    The odd thing is, in my simple application, the user can work with one file at a time, but I move "processed" files to a lower pane in a swing app. When they exit it, it then archives all the files in that lower pane. Usually every file but the last one opened deletes. However, I have seen odd behavior where by some files don't delete, sometimes all of them wont delete. I tried the deleteOnExit() call which to me should be done by the JVM after it has released all objects such that they don't matter and the JVM ignores any object refs and directly makes a call (through JNI perhaps) to the underlying OS to delete the file. This doesn't work either.
    I am at a loss as to why sometimes some files delete, and other times they don't. In my processing code, I always close the input stream and set its variable to null. So I am not sure how it is possible a reference could still be held to the object representing the file on disk.

  • File.delete() not working properly

    Hi Forum!!
    I am trying with the below code :
    File file = new file("path");
    try{
    if(file.exists())
    System.+gc+();
    file.delete();
    System.+out+.println("Control in delete trx file after deletion"+ file.exists());
    }catch(SecurityException se){
    String msg= "Delete trx file if 3gttz file created : IO Problems";
    Log.+error+(msg, se);
    }file.exists() returns false But I when I check file, it still exhists with content 0 bytes .
    Is there a way to remove the entire file from the directory rather than deleting only the
    contents ? Need not to tell I did my initial search to solve the problem.
    Thanks

    Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick.  First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it.  Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...  When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything...  Very buggy.
