Calendar freezes after activation of iCloud

Hello,
after update on Mavericks last weekend, I have a special issue. I browsed this community, couldn't find someone having my problem, so it seems, it hit's only me.
Because apple abandoned the local synchronisation with iTunes, I activated iCloud in Calendar app.
It appears a drop window, telling me that informations are moved to the server account - and calendar freezes!
How can I activate calendar with iCloud - without having this freeze?
I need my calendar, and because this drop window (...moving to server account...) blocks it completely and even after 24 hours nothing happened... this is so sad.
How can I avoid any loos of calendar informations?

I had exactly the same problem with Calendar freezing during ..moving to server account....after updating to Maverick. In my case it was solved by removing the iCloud account, restart the iMac, and then adding the iCloud account via the mail program. Everything works well hereafter including Calendar.
If I did not restart the iMac before trying to add the iCloud account again, I got the message that it was a valid Appli-ID, but NOT an iCloud account, which surely is wrong. But restarting the iMac helped here.
Why this solved the problem, I have no clue, but it did.

  • Duplicate Calendar Entries after Setting up iCloud

I just installed iOS 5 on my iPhone, and upgraded to the latest and greatest OS X Lion on my iMac to use iCloud. Unfortunately, it appears to have created duplicate entries for all of my calendar entries. Rather than syncing my existing iCal calendars, it looks like it created all new 'iCloud' versions of those same calendars so I have double of everything. (For example, before I had 'Home' and 'Work', etc. now I have 'iCloud Home' and 'iCloud Work') This makes no sense to me...am I just supposed to delete my old calendars and just go with the iCloud ones now? Why wouldn't they automatically do that for you if that's the case? Not very intuitive. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Additionally, from what I can tell, if I create a new entry under one of the iCloud calendars, it WILL show up on my iPhone. However, on my iPhone, I DO NOT have those same 'iCloud Home' calendars listed, just one that says 'All iCloud'. Unfortunately, that means I can't create a new calendar entry that syncs with iCloud. If I create an entry under 'Work' on my iPhone, it DOES NOT sync with iCloud and show up on iCal on my Mac. There is no way this is correct behavior, as that is one of the main benefits of syncinc calendars.
Does anyone have any solutions for these issues? Thank you.

Okay, got it sorted; hopefully this will help others out.
My situation: calendars were working fine on my Mac, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iCloud up until Friday evening when I activated my new 4S.  Then all heck broke loose, and my calendar events started triplicating (quadrupling, in some cases).  The calendars themselves did not, just the events.  I believe what caused it is that I restored my 4S from a backup of my 3GS, and didn't turn off iCloud on the 3GS before doing so.  So the system got confused and started replicating things like mad.  Then I remembered Time Machine!
    Here's the solution:
    1. Backup jacked-up calendars on your Mac (just in case, you can always go back and manually fix them...gag).
    2. Turn off iCloud syncing on your devices (all of them), including your Mac; this will prompt you to delete the data on the devices, and that's okay (take a deep breath...)
    3. You should now have no calendar data on any device; it should only reside out on iCloud; verify this by logging into the site and checking
    4. In Finder, navigate to <you_user_dir>/Library and make sure you have a Calendars folder (hold Option and click the Go menu and you'll see it the Library folder...they hid it in Lion); don't open the folder, just make sure it's there
    5. From the Library folder, enter Time Machine and select a date you know was working (in my case, I had to go back to before Wednesday to make sure iCloud was not in use on my machine at the time, you might have to do the same, depending on when you started using iCloud)
    6. Click the magic Restore button in the lower right-hand corner; you'll be fast-forwarded to the same folder in the present, and asked if you want to replace or keep the duplicate items; choose Replace
    7. After the copy is done, open iCal; you should see all your events restored to their normal glory
    8. Log into the iCloud.com website and nuke all of your calendars; yes, you read that right, kill them all...or you'll be back at square one. Because you have to have at least one calendar, I created one called "junk" and left it in there temporarily
    9. Back on your Mac desktop, go to System Preferences and turn on Calendars in the iCloud control panel; if you have iCal open still, you might have a freak-out moment where everything disappears (I did...).  Don't panic, this is normal; if you look at the website, you'll see your calendars start appearing there, and shortly the same will hold true for iCal on your Mac
    10. Once you've confirmed that everything looks spiffy, delete the "junk" folder on iCloud.com
    11. One device at a time (I did my 4S first, then my iPad 2), turn on iCloud for Calendar syncing; just to be careful, let each device finish updating before you turn on the next (it probably doesn't matter, but I'm paranoid at this point).
    12. Voila, you should now have all calendars in sync across all your devices, your Mac, and iCloud.com
Hopefully this helps some people out; it's the only way I could get it to work and restore my calendars back to a useable state.
    Take care!

  • Macbook Pro Freezes After Activating Mission Control

I am updated currently to 10.7.4, and I am having a problem that could not be duplicated after a 4 day stay at my local Apple store. Basically the computer freezes up and becomes unresponsive. The last two times it has happened, I noticed (Possibly a time or two before) it was right as I was activating Mission Control. I use Mission Control as a hot corner and right as the mouse hits the corner to activate it, the computer screen shuts off and I have to do a hard reset holding the power button down to get it back. If the keyboard was lit up at the time the computer goes down it stays lit up, and the fans continue to run, but I cannot get it to do anything. I thought maybe the screen was the only thing off, but the volume buttons do no make the sound associated with raising and lowering the volume. I shut the lid and open it, but the keyboard stays lit up even when it is down. The Macbook is just off in la la land.
I should also add that I upgraded the RAM to 8g in April and I had absolutely no problems before. The RAM tested out fine according to Apple even after a deep lengthy scan. I bought the RAM from Crucial and I am sure it is the correct RAM for my computer. One would think even Apple should have told me if it was not the correct RAM, or the computer just plain would not work. So I am at a loss as to what the problem is.
As a last thing, both of most recent times this happened, the computer had not just been woke up, but maybe 5-10 minutes after being brought out of a lengthy sleep maybe 3-4 hours or so. Or it seemed like this was the case.
    Thanks in advance....

    Hi Muddy Angel,
i'm just wondering if you managed to get a solution to this problem.
i'm expiriencing the same problem for the past one year and can't seem to find the problem.
the screen goes black usually when the mission control is in use, it happen to me when using hot corners, trackpad gesture or even the function key (F9), on either the macbook screen or external display.
the problem seem to be connected somehow to the finder as it some rare times occur even when shifting windows between spaces.
i tried several forumes and didn't find the solution.
i reinstalled OS 3-4 times and still no solution, i recently upgraded to the latest OSX Lion hoping that this might fix the problem but the problem still exists....aaarrrrgggggggg
this is extremely extremely extremely frustrating, as sometime in the middle of a meeting or presentation the macbook goes black and need 5-8 minutes to restart it with all the other apps.
if you did find an answer P L E A S E let me know,
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPhone calendar freezes after it opens

Lately the calendar on my iPhone freezes right after I open it. Sometimes it lets me touch the screen once, and then it freezes. The only thing I can do after this is press the home button quickly a few times and it takes me to my favorites. If that doesn't work I turn off the phone. I have version 1.1.4 of the software and have never cracked the phone.
    ANY IDEAS?

Standard troubleshooting steps in order for such a problem are; power the iPhone off and on, Reset by pressing and holding the Home button and Sleep/Wake button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release (ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so), Restore.

  • ICal calendar missing after synch with iCloud

I am using OS X 10.8.5 and iCal 6.0. When I tried to synch with iCloud it initially got stuck updating the server. After force quiting the program the calendar is now gone. Is there any way to get the missing calendar back?

I have had exactly the same problem - clearly a common problem Apple should be looking at preventing?! Is there any way I can safely activate iCloud calendars etc once I've restored my backed up calendar without everything being erased again? Any help much appreciated, thanks

  • ActiveSync mail/contacts/calendars removed after Active Directory account is locked out?

    Hey guys,
Wondering if anybody has seen an issue like this.  This is a new Exchange 2010 deployment (8+ CAS servers) and the devices are all iPhones/iPads running the latest version of iOS (7.1.2).  The CAS servers are behind a load-balancer.
Basically when a users' Active Directory account is Locked in AD (either manually or by entering the wrong password) their ActiveSync Contacts, Calendars and all Mail folders (except the Inbox strangely!) will be removed from the iOS device within a few hours.  So an account might get locked out at say 6pm, if left locked out by the next morning the ActiveSync account will still be setup on the device as normal, but everything is gone except the mail in the Inbox.  If a user has an iPad and iPhone both will be blanked.
The behaviour is similar to what is documented here - iOS: How to mitigate a full sync or reload of Exchange account data - however the Exchange servers are not issuing HTTP500 errors as we have captured logging during the window where the device blanks itself.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hello,
which event ids are shown in the event viewer from the DCs? Or maybe locally also some errors are locked that give some more details.
If this happens it sounds personally for me that Java is the problem. Have you already opened a call at

  • How to eliminate duplicate calendar entries after sync with iCloud ?

I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS5 and set up sync through iCloud. Now all my iCal entries appear twice on the iPhone, even though they appear only once on my Mac mini (running Lion).
How do I stop this happening? And how do I get a clean calendar on the iPhone?
    Neil

Ok, I solved my own problem. I thought I had unchecked "Sync Calendar" in iTunes on the Mac mini, but it turns out I had not. As soon as I unchecked that box and let the system delete that calendar, all the duplicate entries went away.

Restore it from your most recent backup or from the computer Calendar app you sync your iPhone with via iTunes.

  • TS4118 is there an alternative to manually remove ical duplicates after sync with icloud

There is a discussion on this issue:
TS4118: If you see duplicate calendars or events after setting up iCloud Calendar.
However, the suggestion there is, if the duplicates are also in your icloud, to delete the duplicates MANUALLY.
I have been using ical or its predecessor since 1999. Removing all the duplicates between 1999 and 2014 manually is not why I have a computer.
I noticed the problem after having upgraded from 10.7.5 to 10.9.2. Before 10.9, I did the syncing of my mac with iphone and ipad over the cable and itune. this worked fine.
Since after upgrading to 10.9  you have to do it over icloud, this is what I did.
Is there a way around a manual deletion?

    Hello nomenest,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with duplicate calendar events after setting up iCloud.  I would be concerned about this too.
It sounds like you have checked iCloud.com and see the duplicates there.  If you are seeing the duplicates on iCloud.com, I recommend contacting iCloud Support for assistance:
    Symptoms
After you set up iCloud Calendar, you might see duplicate calendars or calendar events on your iOS device, Mac, or PC.
    Resolution
Find out if calendars or events are also duplicated on iCloud.com
First, check Calendar on iCloud.com to see if calendars or events are also duplicated there. If they are, then contact iCloud Support for help.

  • I use Windows Vista and Microsoft Outlook. After migrating to iCloud, the calendar of iCloud tranferred only part of my past Calendar items to the folder iCloud Calendar in my Outlook. How can I transfer all the entries?

I use Windows Vista and Microsoft Outlook. After migrating to iCloud, the calendar of iCloud tranferred only part of my past Calendar items to the folder iCloud Calendar in my Outlook. How can I transfer all the entries? In iCloud's site all are there.

If the calendar is on iCoud.com, all you would need to do to get it on your phone is go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign into your iCoud account and turn Calendars on.  The iCloud calendars will then download to your phone.

  • I've lost the contacts and calendar events from my 3GS after setting up iCloud with iPad3 and PC Outlook.  Any solutions?

I've lost the contacts and calendar events (& email) from my 3GS after setting up iCloud with iPad3 and PC Outlook.  Any solutions?
I tried to re-synch it with the PC iTunes, but no luck, even when re-checking the boxes for Outlook...

I should mention that i have NOT upgraded to iOS 5 on the 3GS and don't want to.  Therefore, no iCloud on the phone.

  • Calendar in 9.2.1 freezes after working

I had the problem common to many of iphoto freezing after an upgrade from 8.  9.0 worked, but suddenly was not acceptable and update to 9.1 was required.  I tried all of the solutions I could find out here.  None worked and the entire program continued to freeze.  9.2.1 worked fine to open the program, add pictures, and do the other things I tried and I thought I was over the hump, even though I didn't (and don't ) know what caused the problem.  I began a calendar (the project that began all of the problems)..  It worked.  I exited iPhoto while still in the calendar mode.  The quit worked fine.  Now I try to open iPhoto, and it goes to the calendar, displays what I have done (very little), and then freezes with the spinning ball of death.  I've rebuilt various things (no help), tried to rebuild in iPhoto Library Manager (on rebuild it opens iPhoto names the new file and then just sits...maybe I didn't wait long enough only about 2 minutes), looked to see if I have themes (I have themes, but none related to calendars appear to be there.  should there be?), and am now out of ideas.  I have version 8.2 and an appropriate library and it works, but no calendars there, but no freeze when trying to creat one.  This leads me to believe that the calendar themes might be missing somehow.
I've been trying to get going on an annual holiday calendar for 3 months now.  Time is short.  I'm not new at all of this, I was an analyst/programmer and helped manage tech support for a large school district.  This is the very worst and most problematic issue I've had in my 30+ years of working with Apple products.
HELP!!!  Surely there is a solution less cumbersome than installing 9.0 and going through all the upgrades...
    Thanks,
    Chuck Boody

And now I've gone through the upgrades from 9.0 over again.  The problem continues....
