  • Moving calendars to server account hangs as soon as iCal opens

This moving  message hangs iCal, even the menu items including Quit Calendar.  My iCloud accounts includes two iPhone 4's, iPad 2, iPad, and iMac (OS X 10.9.1)

i had the same issue recently. user melisolaris posted this and solved my problem:
    1. Force quit iCal and Reminders.
    2. On your computer, unlink Calendars and Reminders from iCloud:
    > System Preferences > iCloud > Uncheck Calendars AND Reminders
(I did this because my Reminders uses my Calenders; I set deadlines for reminders, etc. Also, because my reminders weren't syncing with my iCloud as they should.)
    3. It'll ask if you want to delete the calendar and reminder events from your computer. Say yes because you should already have the most up-to-date copy on your iCloud.
    4. Open iCal. It should no longer display the "moving calendars to server account" message.
    5. Add your iCloud account to iCal.
    > Calendar > Add Account... > iCloud > Sign in with Apple ID and PW
    6. Give it a minute to update. You should see all your iCloud calendar events with no error message.
    7. Quit iCal. Open Reminders.
    8. Add your iCloud account to Reminders.
    > Reminders > Add Account... > iCloud > Sign in with Apple ID and PW
    9. Test the two programs by adding test events and reminders to see if they show up on your iPhone and your Macbook.

After enabling iCloud, the calendar on my MacBook shows a window stating "moving calendar to server account. Then a box appears saying "server responded with an error message 403. Then another box shows "couldn't move calendar to iCloud, an error occurrre

iCloud's Calendar is full of errors and problems for me.  The "Couldn't move your calendars to iCloud because an error occurred" is now gone (by itself) but nothing syncs between my Mac's Calendar to iCloud or my iPhone to iCloud.
I tried creating a new event directly on iCloud.com to see whether it pushes to any of my device and  got this "This event couldn't be created because of a server error; please try again." error.
    Apple, please fix this!!

  • Mavericks update with iCal issue 'Moving Calendars To Server Account'

I updated to Mavericks a few days ago on my iMac after having Snow Leopard. When I opened up my calendar, as it went to sync with the iCloud it came up with 'Moving Calendars to Server Account and that's been on for the past couple of days.
I tried force closing it and restarting the computer and that didn't work so I'm out of ideas. Any support would be really appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

    Thanks oliverleonidas,
I did actually find this out late last night. The problem now is that I have lost all my iCal entries, as was warned by the iCloud god.
So next step is to get that info back if I can.
I have all entries still on my iPhone and am a little worried about conecting it to the MacBook.
Let me know if you have any ideas on that little saga.
Thanks for getting back to me. Much appreciated.
    Cheers

  • After installation on iMac, Mavericks Calendar yields only "moving calendars to server account". Can't do anything else with it except Force Close. Please help. Works perfectly on my AirBook. Thanks.

Now with Maverick, on my iMac, iCal opens only with "moving calendars to server account".  No other function can be performed. It can be only "force quit". (iCal seems to work perfectly on my airbook.) It ran in this mode for 8 hours or more overnight last night, and continued to do so when I restarted 'puter this morning, did Disk Utility functions, and restarted computer. I think I have iCloud settings properly set, but perhaps not. Advice, suggestions are most welcome. TIA.

  • Calendar has been non-functional for hours, with small screen saying "Moving calendars to server account..." Help?

Calendar on Mavericks MacPro has been non-functional for hours, with small screen saying "Moving calendars to server account..." How can I restore its function?

Sorry. I found some other advice that solved the problem ere I saw your response.
    The advice was:
Go to Finder. Holding "Option" key, find Library in "Go" pull down menu.   In Library. Select Calendars. To desktop, drag all files with the word "cache." Then go to Preferences (still in Library) and drag to desktop "com.apple.ical.plist".  Restart. Now Calendar is working perfectly, and rechecking under Library, the caches files and the com.apple.ical.plist  that were dragged to the desktop have reappeared in Calendars and Preferences.
All is well. Many thanks for your reply! Sorry that I did not get to check it out.

  • I have shared my icalendars with family members via icloud and now my calendar on my computer has been stuck saying "Moving calendars to server account" for literally 5 days.  What do I do?

I have shared my icalendars with family members via icloud and now my calendar on my computer has been stuck saying "Moving calendars to server account" for literally 5 days.  What do I do?

    Hi, Confused As Always CB.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Hopefully I can help resolve this issue for you.  Try removing the preference to sync calendar events in iCloud preferences.  Once this is down enable the preference again and see if this resolves the issue.
Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on:
    Quit Calendar (or iCal).
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then select iCloud.
Deselect the checkbox next to Calendars.
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
Replace the checkmark next to Calendars.
    Close System Preferences.
Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue is resolved.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
If the issue persists, try all remaining steps in the article below.

  • Moving calendar to server account

Weirdest thing just happened. I opened the system preference and clicked on Mail Calendars and Contacts. (This was the first time I'd been here since installing Mt Lion and I had iCloud set up already) keychain started asking me for permissions for a couple things to which I said deny because I didn't want to deal with that then. All of the sudden without me doing ANYTHING else calendar pops up and says "Moving calendars to server account..." Aught I didn't ask it to and now my laptop is hung after a few minutes of it looking like it was trying to copy somewhere. What happened and what should I do. Mouse moving very speratically like bearly enough to stay alive and copy bar is grey and not moving really don't want to loose my whole Calendar

Look for the post by melisolaris
It worked for me as far as I could open calendar without the "moving calendars to server account" & restore my local calendars from my MacBook Pro.
I'll have to check at home if I can manage to set up iCloud sync tonight (I can't do it in the office due to access limitations...)
I followed what Melisolaris recommended and it worked for me too, thanks for linking to it!

  • How do I abort the "Moving calendars to server account" process?

Running Mavericks. Calendars only update through iCloud, but I have a permanent "Moving calendars to server account message. Restarting Calendars does not abort the moving calendars process. Waht now?

Hey all, I had the same problem. Everyone seemed to have different solutions that worked for them--but not for me . Here's what actually fixed my problem.

  • Moving calendar to server account-since recent update to OS X (10.9?) Calendar is hung forever: will not complete this step.

Didn't want to move Calendar to iCloud (synching through USB was sufficient and secure) but felt forced to with recent OS update.
Calendar has been unusable now for month. Get the scrolling barbershop pole with the message "Moving calendar to server account".
    - It never stops
    - While it's doing it, Calendar is frozen (cannot make any entries)
    - Cannot get into most menu items (greyed out) so cannot figure out what's wrong.
I feel I'm at risk of losing a decade of Calendar items--for an move to iCloud that I never wanted.

When i go into calendars a box appears saying "moving calendars to server account" and i can not do anything in calendars - can anyone help?

I was struggling with this since my latest Itunes update.  Fiirst it would not recognize my IPad as a device, after correcting that, it would list the Ipad in my device but my Sync had no options (summry, info, etc). and it kept saying it was "Accessing Itunes store".  reading your question I suddently tried deleting the itunes task (alt-ctrl, delete, processes) and delete Itunes.  (By the way, I had rebooted my computer several times over the last few days).  I opened up Itunes, and voila. Device is there. No "accessing windows" and my sync has the normal options.
****..feels good to actually write an answer rather than writing a questions.

  • I downloaded mountain lion; now it won't stop "moving calendars to server account".  How long should this take?

I have just installed Mountain Lion and was initially thrilled to see that my
calendars for iphone and ipad finally synced!  However, the message on
my MacBook Pro calendar page is "moving calendars to server account"
and it's been doing that for about 1.5 hours at this point.  The only way to get
out of calendar is to force quit, and when I restart, and go back to calendar,
it's right back with moving calendars to server account.
What should I do to solve this?

    Restart your Mac.

Upon my first use of iCloud my Calender is now continuously hung-up with the message "Moving calendars to server account"  I tried to go into system and iCloud preferences and it won't let me change anything.  All I wanted was to share pics with iCloud and now I have lost the use of my calendar and can't figure out how to turn off the calender transfer or turn my old calender back on.  I see other people with the same problem in this community, but no answers provided?

when I open calendar I get the message "moving calendars to server account" and calendar freezes and I need to force quit
