Calendar Icon Dock - Mavericks OSX

Hey there,
Wonder if anyone can help me here with a small question..
My calendar icon on the dock is displaying the date on the red part of the "notepad" rather than in the white blank space. Does anyone know how to fix it.. the calendar works fine .. but is just annoying .
Thanks!

Test in a new User:
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar.
Log into the Guest User.
Do you see the same behavior in the Calendar icon in the Dock?
If yes, this indicates problems at the base level.
Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions in using Disk Utility in recovery.
Restart
Download and run the combo updater to refresh your OS X files.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 (Update (Combo)
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1746
You might need to reinstall OS X. This process should not damage your data but it's always advised that you backup first.
If no, the problem is in your User's folder.
Do the usual fixes.
Restart in Safe boot mode. Log in while in Safe boot and see if the problem goes away.
Run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
Run Font Book to validate your fonts. (Clear font caches)
Safe boot
*  shutdown
*  start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
*  after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
*  keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
*  now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
*  eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT
*  log in to see if the problem goes away while in safe mode.
See this link to see what happens during Safe Mode.
Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
Run Repair Permissions:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
4. Click the repair permissions button.
How to use Font Book to validate fonts
  1. Open Font Book in your Applications folder.
  2. Select All Fonts.
  3. Now click in the list of fonts and select all (Edit > Select All).
  4. Under File in the Menu bar, select Validate Fonts.
  5. Duplicate fonts will be marked with either the yellow badge or a black dot.
  6. Select to remove or delete duplicates.*
  7. Delete font caches (how to)
  8. Restart your computer
* Step 6 – remove or delete duplicates is where the tricky part comes in. You can select to let Font Book disable or remove duplicates, but I’ve found that it removes the one you have not been using rather than selecting the best option. See Font Management in OS X, by Kurt Lang, for more info on fonts.
See Kurt Lang's directions here to remove font caches Re: Weird Finder Window quirk

The Calendar icon has disappeared from my dock and I can't find a way to restore it or to download the Calendar app. The iCal app is not in my applications folder. Help please.

Do you have Time Machine enabled.   If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder.   Then restore.

  • Calendar icon in my dock showing a number

I have a MacBook Pro and the latest version of Mountain Lion. When I booted up this morning, my Calendar icon in my dock shows a "1" in the upper right hand corner. What is this, and how do I get rid of it?

    Thanks!
What I discovered happened, is I told Siri to schedule a meeting with a colleague. It somehow became in Calendar an "invitation" to my colleague regardin a meeting. So, the "1" showed I had one invitation. I tried to edit it to a simple calendar event, but had to literally cancel the invitation, leading my colleague to call me wondering if/why our meeting was canceled!

  • HT1338 I'm trying to download mountain lion, I've got an icon in the dock saying "OSX Mountain Lion waiting..." What is it waiting for? I can't seem to find any context menu or information.

'm trying to download mountain lion, I've got an icon in the dock saying "OSX Mountain Lion waiting..." What is it waiting for? I can't seem to find any context menu or information.

I got it to download by going to the App Store, Purchases, and download.
This was after a false start thanks to Apple Help (total misnomer) which sent me to iTunes.
It is an amazingly slow download, so pack a lunch.
    Thanks everyone.

  • Add calendar icon tp dock

How can I add the calendar icon to the dock on my imac, please?
I've tried dragging it from Launchpad, but thsat doesn't work.
    Thank you

Dragging it from Launchpad should work. Drag it into the dock between to other icons. Applications have to be added to the left of the divider.
Try dragging it to the dock from your Applications folder (Command-Shift+A).
You can also open the Calendar app then right-click (control-click) on the app icon in the dock and select Options then Keep in Dock.

  • Calendar icon disappears

My calendar Icon will not remain in the task bar?  It keeps closing down and I have to go to Launchpad all the time? This has happened since Mavericks update?  Can someone help me please?

    You mean the Dock?
Launch the Calendar app from the Applications folder.
Then click and hold the new Calendar app icon in the Dock then click Options > Keep in Dock

  • I tried downloading mavericks osx but it doesnt download, it stays in waiting

I have a mac book pro and im having problems in downloading mavericks osx. It says waiting below the app icon and doesnt download anything. It was like that since last night until now. Anybody know how to solve it?

I had this problem. To solve it I removed the mavericks waiting icon from the dock. I then went to the app store and clicked on the purchases tab (icon). I then clicked on the x next to download button. This removed from my purchases. I then restarted my computer and went back into the app store. The mavericks icon was back to normal and so I then clicked it. The mavericks downloading appeared in the dock and on the app store again this time it was downloading no waiting. It had no problems downloading. The purchases tab in the app store was blank but that doesn't matter because I have it dowloaded by the time you read this.

  • My Macbook is slow down after installing Maverick OSX...!!!!

    Hi everi body...
When I updated Maverick OSX from Mountain Lion 10.8.5, boot up speed is increase and my battery is discharge very fast.
Also I use this command to Quick Sleep:
    sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
But when I put my MAC to sleep, it is about 50 ~ 70 seconds long but in Mountain Lion it is done in 4 or 5 Seconds.

  • Calendar icon corrupted on laptop(win7andiphone 4s)

The calendar icon is corrupted on my icloud panel on my laptop (win 7 and iphones). I tried reinstalling icloud on pc..no help..suggestions from one with moderate knowledge(not novice nor expert). Suggestions? Thank you.

Yes, to sync with iCloud on your Mac you will need to upgrade.
You can certainly upgrade to Mountain Lion but OS X Mavericks is due out within the next month so it may be worth it to wait. In the meantime you can access your iCloud contacts, calendars, etc... from iCloud.com. Sign in with your Apple ID.
Here is more info on Mavericks: Apple - OS X Mavericks - Do even more with new apps and features.

  • Calendar icon on the doc

How can the calendar icon on the dock show the current date? I need to always open the calendar to "refresh" the dock icon to the current date. Pls help....poor non-tech-non-mac person. Thanks.

You can't. I know it seems a silly omission but it's true. I asked the same question at a Procare lesson (the one-on-one training I purchased with MacBook.) You have to click on it to show correct date.

  • Alarm on Calendar icon

Suddenly the Calendar icon on my doc shows a number, similar to the unread messages count on Mail. There is nothing in notifications.
I am running 10.8.2 on MBP.
Any idea on how to get rid of this?
    Thanks

I finally discovered I had an invitation that I hadn' t seen or accepted. I clicked on it and the "number" on my dock disappeared.

  • HT4461 Maverick osx software download error's

Why since upgrading to mavericks osx 10.9.2 cant I upload any updates on software? Such as for my printer , or java etc, I keep getting a message saying  " I have a network problem". What problem? Auto updates kicks in, when I start the upload, the above error message kick in. Help please, mavericks is a nightmare,  this  very frustrating.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • Maverick OSX recent update BUGS

After installing Maverick OSX recent update, programs crash, programs won't launch saying they are now corrupt, when i know they/re not, because they work perfectly OK in a prior system, i have, APPLE NEEDS TO SORT THESE ISSUES OUT AND FAST. Also Another thing I recently bought 2 Apple TV, they stop playing music when connected to my iTunes, this happens every time. This was prior to the recent update and still happens after.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
    Feedback
    Try running the combo update.
    10.9.5 Combo Update
    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

  • Calendar app on Mavericks: Can't move or delete appointments with Gmail account

I use Google Apps for Business with the Apple Calendar app on Mavericks. When I try to move an appointment or delete it the app reverse the action - almost like an Undo. So in the Calendar app I can't move appointments nor can I delete them. I can add them, no prob.
Calendar app version is 7.0 (1835)
    Sincerely,
    Alex

    Eleanor,
Just had another look into this, and when I migrated my old system across to the new iMac, the migration assistant apparently setup another account for me - I thought it would just bring across the files & applications I needed to see my new iMac's account the same as my old Powerbook, only running OSX 10.5!
Not so, must have missed this bit in the instructions, I now have two user accounts on my new machine - my new account and the one from my old Powerbook. No real problems so far . . . . ! So once I'd found this, I went into the old account (new iMac) and tried to delete some of the files in Mail. Guess what - No problems at all! All works perfectly.
This is really strange. I might have to start all over again, and do a re-install, using migration assistant from the old PB, and use the old account instead of a new one on my new iMac!
Had a few other problems with permissions etc., maybe a re-install of the OS (10.5) would cure all of this!
Any other input greatly appreciated before I take this rather drastic step!
    Cheers,
    Steve
