Calendar invites not working (mostly)

I am getting inconsistent behavior using Calendar 5 and I'm not sure why.  This is paired with Calendar Server using Mountain Lion Server.
Whenever our secretary sends out events to the entire office (using a group in Contacts.app which is pullling contacts from a network user on Lion Server) nobody gets them.  If she sends to invites to people in that group individually, they do get it.
Here's what I've found from my own testing:
1) Create group on server using Server.app, add network users to that group, send invite to that group from Calendar.app on client computer = works great
2) Create shared group* on client computer Contacts.app, add users to group in Contacts.app, send invite to that group from Calendar.app on client computer = works sometimes, sometimes doesn't work
*Shared group and users in group comes from server network user account we all have access to in our Contacts.app preferences.
3) Create shared group on client computer Contacts.app, add users to group in Contacts.app, send invite to that group from Calendar.app on client computer = works sometimes, sometimes doesn't work
4) Create shared group on client computer Contacts.app, add add single user to group in Contacts.app (whose name appears with question mark by it in Calendar.app no matter what time for the event), send invite to that group from Calendar.app on client computer = recipient does not get invite*
*Recipient is using iCal in Lion, but this was not an issue before Mountain Lion.
Setup
Mac Mini Server with Mountain Lion Server
Client computers with Lion and Mountain Lion (iCal and Calendar, AddressBook and Contacts)
Server-side user account established strictly for creating/ adding shared contacts from client AddressBook.app/ Contacts.app; shared by everyone having access to that account in AddressBook.app/ Contacts.app account preferences.
Server-side users that I added to a group using Server.app were the same users with the same primary email address as the users and groups used inContacts.app that Calendar.app referenced.  I made sure to create unique group names so that when adding invitees I knew whether the group was created server-side or created server-side through the client-side Contacts.app

The difference between case 1 and cases 2-4 are that in 1 the client is letting the server expand the group membership, and in 2-4 it's the client doing that expansion.  The group members returned by the server when it expands the group are "guaranteed" to work because the server definitely knows about them (and providing them to the client).  In the cases where it's the client adding the attendees, I suppose there must be some mismatch sometimes, although I don't know what that could be if the email addresses are the same between the users you've created via Contacts.app and the users you've created via Server.app.
I actually tried this setup and it was working fine.  What caused you to want to duplicate the users and groups that you have in Server.app into Contacts.app?

  • ICloud Calendar invitations not working

I migrated my MobileMe account to iCloud and calendar invitations are not working. When I create a calendar event and select an invitee an email is not sent to the invitee. I have tried sending invites from iCal on my MacBook Air, iPhone, and iCloud.com with no success. I tested by creating a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID and still no luck. Anyone else having this problem?

    I figured out the problem.
icloud uses the apple id as the sender email address. But this is not allowed on many mail servers. Because if the target mail server receives a icloud invitation, they ask the mail server from sender email address, if the server who sends this email is allowed to do that. This will be done by the SPF record.
as an example: your apple id is [email protected], now you invite one person: [email protected]
no the email invitation will be sent from the icloud server (badger1302.apple.com) but the sender address is [email protected] now on the target side, the mail server hisdomain.com asks gmx.net, if mail server badger1302.apple.com is allowed to send email with sender address [email protected] But gmx.net doesn allow that. So most target mail server then decides to drop such emails. if email server ignore this SPF record, then the email will be acceppted.
So to bring this running, it should be possible to configure, which email should be used to send such email invitations (good would be a @me.com address), but currently the apple id will be used and there no @me.com is allowed.
an other solution is to use a apple id where you have control of the SPF record (if you have your own domain)
    I hope that helps

  • IOS 6 Exchange calendar invitations not working

I like a lot the improved calendar invitations layout in iOS6, but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to work.
The new buttons do not seem to do anything.
My calendar is running under Exchange and I would like to know if any other users have managed to 'accept, decline or maybe' invitations on iOS6 with Exchange?
    Many thanks

have had what I think is similar issue.... on both ipad and iphone.  Running IOS6.  Have gmail account setup through exchange connector.  IOS receives and accepts invites just fine from external devices....  If i create a new invite on the IOS device and add invitees with external email addresses, once this calendar invite is saved into the diary it doesnt trigger invites to go out to those 3rd parties... but the invite definitely is in the calendar as can also see it on mast google calendar.
If I then go and move the timing of the invite that has been created on the IOS device (by holding down and dragging to new time) this then immediately triggers an invite (new Invitiation, not reschedule) to be sent to the external email addresses...  any further modification to timing of invite then triggers 'reschedule' calendar invites to go out - so expected behaviour.
The issue is that IOS is not triggering the invite to go out to external parties who have been added to a newly created invite - and it only does this when the date/time of the invite is modified.
Spent about 1.5 hrs on phone to apple support yesterday - they have now passed on to 3rd level support....
Are others seeing the same behaviour as above?

  • Post-Snow Leo Upgrade: Calendar Invites Not Working in Mail

In Mail, anytime I get a calendar invite, it shows up above the header with the nifty iCal icon, the meeting details and the options to accept, decline or maybe it. Click and accept all I want, but the meeting invite NEVER propagates over to iCal.
We just upgraded to 10.6.2 to take advantage of the Exchange protocol.

SSRS 2008 R2 Calendar Control not working and report not refreshing on pressing enter in Chrome.

SSRS reports are always best viewed in IE and the report result what you see in IE always will not be same and consistent in thirdy party browswers.
So consider using IE as workaround.

  • Calendar app not working on iPhone 5

    Hi,
My calendar does not work on my iPhone 5.  It initially only showed one of my calendars.  I turned iCloud calendars off and back on and it temporarily showed my other calendars, but they disappeared again.  Events that I enter on my calendar directly on my phone have disappeared as well.
Anyone have this issue and found a fix for it?

Never mind on this. I found the issue.
I should have been configuring the Google account on the iPhone by using the "GMail" option instead of the "Exchange" option.

  • Forwarding Exchange calendar invites from calendar app not working

We have Samsung Windows 8 phones and have discovered a problem with forwarding calendar invitations from within the calendar app on Exchange 2010 / ActiveSync.
User A on Exchange 2010 will create a new meeting request and send it to user B. User B will accept the calendar invitation on their Windows 8 phone. User B will then go into the calendar app on their phone and forwards the calendar item to User C. User
C does not receive anything nor does User A receive a notification that their original meeting invite has been forwarded. No error messages are shown on User B's phone. It's as if the forwarded item simply vanishes.
With the same scenario as above, if User B does NOT initially accept the meeting invite from User A and instead immediately forwards the invite to User C from within the MAIL app on his phone, before accepting the meeting, User C receives the invitation
as per normal and User A receives notification that their meeting request was forwarded, as expected.
If User B does NOT initially accept the meeting invite from User A, but then goes into the calendar app on their phone and attempts to forward the meeting request (showing as tentative as they have not accepted it yet), User C still does not receive anything
and User A does not get notification.
This appears to be a bug within the Calendar application on Windows 8 phones as forwarding meeting invites works fine from within the Mail app (provided the user has not accepted the meeting yet - once the meeting has been accepted in the mail app, the item
"disappears" and is no longer accessible except from within the Calendar app).
This is a pretty major issue with heavy calendar users (e.g. executives) as they will be forwarding accepted meeting requests from their calendars and without receiving any error messages will assume the forwarded invitation has gone through, when in fact
    it hasn't.

We have reproduced this issue internally and are filing a bug to get this issue fixed.  As soon as we have an update to this, we will report back on this thread.  Thank you for raising this issue.

  • ICloud calendar invites not sent

When a friend sends meeting invitations, they appear not to ever arrive at the recipient.
I've been doing some research to work out why, and found a lot of discussion that basically says: if the recipient's email address is associated with an iCloud account, iCloud will always deliver the meeting request to their iCloud account (when really it should go to their email!)
For example, my email address at Gmail is associated with my iCloud account so I never receive the invited as I don't use iCloud mail. My business address which is on my own domain and not associated with an iCloud account, receives invites just fine.
Apparently there is a tickbox in iCloud settings which says to deliver the message rather than 'notifying' the user, which is meant to fix it, but this would mean my friend would have to get all of his recipients to do this! A bit ridiculous.
People appear to have been complaining about this issue for a couple of years - I can't believe Apple still hasn't changed this situation.
Unless anyone here begs to differ and knows another way around it?

To follow up on my experience, back around Nov 1st when I originally posted, I had already combed through all the findable threads of related errors and one-by-one determined none of them were applicable to my scenario. Nonetheless, I went through the step of terminating my calendars and recreating them and so forth. All that effort had no effect.
    Fast forward.
While I'm not a believer in magic, I noticed sometime around Nov 27th (or thereabouts), my calendar invites were suddenly being sent. Perhaps then there is hope for others in my situation. I am confident nothing changed on my side, so perhaps Apple made some silent updates in the cloud that sorted out the issue. In any event, I wanted to report that it suddenly started functioning as desired with no action on my part.

  • Calendar invites not showing up in icloud email

    Hi all -
I gave my son an 8GB 4th gen iPod Touch this week and went about setting it up for him. I got him an icloud email address and started sending calendar invites from my .mac address along with my wife's gmail address. None of these calendar invites show up on his iPod touch. I can send calendar invites from is iPod to our email addresses, but am stumped o

I am having the same problem. Mail, note & tasks work perfectly, but no iCloud calendars show in my Outlook.
Are recommending reinstalling iCloud completely to get it to work?
Is there something that can be done directly from my Outlook? It synces perfecty on iCloud.
