The button to add appointments on my calendar has disappeared after updating to IOS 5, I can edit existing appointments and view them but I don't have a way to add them. I have an IPhone 4

My problem with iOS5 on 4S was that I had not turned on MobilMe on phone. See these instructions:
Thanks to a message on this board, I found the solution. It involves turning on MobileMe calendar synching in Settings.

To set up calendar syncing on your iPhone or iPod touch:
If you have iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4 (or later) and MobileMe Calendar syncing is turned on, MobileMe Calendar is set up automatically.
1.          On your iPhone or iPod touch Home screen, tap Settings.
2.          Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3.          Tap your MobileMe account. If you don’t see your account, make sure you’ve set it up on your device.
4.          Make sure that Calendars is on.
5.          If prompted, choose “Merge with MobileMe” to make sure the calendars already on your device are not duplicated.
6.          Press the Home button, and then tap Calendar. Your MobileMe calendar is displayed in the Calendar application on your iPhone or iPod touch. It may take a few minutes to appear.

Unless something has changed, you can't. The iPad has limited ability to make repeats. However if you make the custom repeats in another program you can send them to or import them into your calendar and the iPad will respect the custom repeat.

This question could just as well go to the iCloud on my Mac community...
I put 'I' in the topic for brevity but it's actually my wife who gets emails every time either of us adds or edits events, whether we do it in iCal on either of our Macs or in Calendar on our iOS devices. Presumably this is to do with a setting in iCloud somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can’t find it. I've also compared settings on our Macs and phones and can't find anything that could be the culprit. It's driving her nuts!
For more information, we share all our calendars so that either of us read and write any of them, and we're both on iOS 5.1 on our iPhones (hers is a 3GS, mine's a 4), and we're both on Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion (2010 27" iMac and 2011 MacBook Pro respectively).

this seems to be a new "bug" on iCloud. It's happened to many users (judging by the posts here). My wife and I have one shared calendar and we've been happily using it without the email problems (because I had set iCloud NOT to email us whenever an event changed - this was done at icloud.com, a setting there). Recently we began getting emails. I suspect a change in iCloud that was in error, because I just checked my setting and the option to have an email sent when an event changes is not checked.

Double items in list-view calendar iOS 7

Since I first opened the calander-app in iOS 7, some, but not all items are shown twice in the list-view, but not in the other views. If I delete one of the doubles, both are gone. It seems to be completely random what items are shown twice. Is it a bug? It happens both with iCloud and Exchange items. Both single and repeating appointments. I can not see any logic in it. Please help, because it makes the list-view very cluttered now...

Okay, I don't understand why, but the problem seems to be induced by the update process. Though the other views are unaffected, some (a lot) items in the list-view are being doubled. It seems to be random, but both my iOS devices are affected in exactly the same way, so there must be a mechanism that causes it.
But... If you turn off the calendars for the affected accounts (iCloud, Exchange), confirm that they are being removed from your device, and then turning them on again, they are being re-synchronized. This creates new entries in the calendar that in the list-view are not doubled anymore.
Be careful! Do not delete the items manually, since this will delete the item on all synchronized devices. Just turn the calendars off in the account settings and choose not to keep them on your device but remove them from your device instead.
This will fix the problem quick and easy.

Holidays not showing up in calendar iOS 8

US holidays are not showing up on my calendar on my iPhone 6. I am using iOS 8 and have iCloud synced. I also subscribed to holidays on my phone. Holidays show up on my calendar on my macbook pro but not my phone. Any solutions out there? Thanks!

If worse comes to worse, you can manually add on by doing the following:
Tap Settings
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Scroll down and tap Add Account...
Tap Other
Tap Add Subscribed Calendar
In the server field, input: ical.mac.com/ical/US32Holidays.ics - then tap Next
On the next screen, change the name of the calendar under "Description" if you choose - then tap Save
Then just uncheck the US Holidays calendar under Other and use the new subscribed calendar.

New contact's birthday not showing up in calendar. iOS 7.1.1 related?

Not sure if this is iOS 7.1.1 related but if I add a new contact with birthday entry (or a new birthday to an existing contact), the new birthday will not show up in the calendar on iPhone and iPad. It will correctly show on my Mac and in ICloud calendar. It makes no difference if I add birthday on iOS device, iCloud or Mac.
The contac information shows up correctly on all devices, but not birthdays in iOS calendar.
Anyone alse who has the same problem or could try to replicate it?

This is what worked for me.
Open the Calendar app and select Calendars and untick Birthdays.
Close the Calendar app and unload from memory i.e. press the home button twice and swipe up the Calendar app.
Re-open the Calendar app and select Calendars and reselect Birthdays.
All the birthdays now appeared....at least for me.

Calendar iOS 7 & iCloud on Mavericks

Hello everyone,
I'm having some trouble with Calendar on my MacBook and I'm running Mavericks 10.9.3. It was all working fine a few days ago, updating on my laptop and then transfering to my iPhone (iOS 7) but I added loads of attacthments to individual events for work purposes (which have worked before). I scanned documents into my copmuter, made them into a PDF (about 8.7 MB I think), attached them and usually they pop up on my iPhone when updated. However, Calendar just says, 'Updating...' and it seems to freeze and not update anything anymore? I've left it for 30 minutes to see if there's any change but to no avail. Does anyone have a clue or had similiar? I've got an appointment for the Apple Store soon.
All my software is up to date and I've changed my password too (incase it was a hack, you never know)
Apple's system status for iCloud is fine
I've 'deleted' Calendar on iCloud via my MacBook & iPhone then reset it but still doesn't bring the PDF's up

It has been like this even since iOS 6 (mabye earlier also).
This also happens on OS X (Mountain Lion).
What makes it work again is simply to go to Settings -> iCloud and unselect calendar.
Wait 20 secounds then select calendar again.
Same procedure on OS X.
This makes the system reconnect to the calendar server.
For me it usually stops to work again after 1-2 days. Really annoying.
I think this is a problem on the iCloud-calenders-server side since it's both on iOS and OS X.

Calendar iOS 7.0.4 not sync, not work!

Hello, I have an iPhone 4 8GB with iOS 7.0.4 with an exchange calendar account. Since the update the event didn't sync.
I checked settings in Mail, Contact & Calendar but it is ok.. I tried to add a new event in iOS caledar app but it didn't add.
What can I try?

I'm not sure about that, but the iPhone does nothing with contacts on the SIM like older non-iPhones. so pulling the SIM would not have helped you. Not sure how the iPhone could have "killed" your contacts. What were you doing when this happened? iCloud also syncs contacts with whatever you have selected to sync contacts with, so that could be how you were able to recover them, but again, I wonder what you were doing, or did at the time that "killed" the contacts.

Cannot Invite Calendar IOS 6

Kerfuffled!
On my iPhone with IOS 6, Calendar includes "Invitees" while making a new calendar entry.
On my iPad, also with IOS 6, "Invitees" is NOT included while making a new calendar entry.
In both cases, the "source" calendar is attached to my GMail account.
In Settings | Cloud, both have "Calendar" turned ON.
There's only one thing I've found different between the iPhone & iPad settings: In Settings | Mail, Calendar, Contacts, the iPhone says "Exchange," and the iPad says "Gmail."
Any ideas or suggestions? After thrashing around for ~hour, I can't find a setting anywhere which resolves this issue.

Go to Settings, Mail/Contacts/Calendar
Scroll down to Calendars
Default Calendar
Change to iCloud

All data from calendar dissaperd and also did the button with calendars on the top left side and plus button on the bottom for adding new events. Icloud didn't work for this device and i did backup but i don't know how to restore. Thx

I had the same problem - this is how I fixed it. My iPhone calendar entries weren't syncing to my iPad or iCloud - except for two events. What I realized is that my default calendar on my iPhone was set to the "Calendar" which is listed as "On My iPhone". "Work" and "Home" were listed under my iCloud account name. So I switched my default Calendar to "Work" on my iPhone, edited my future calendar entries to "Work" from the generic iPhone "Calendar" and voila! - They all now sync with iCloud and my iPad.

Calendar iOS 5 adding events

I have tried to add events directly from my phone into the calendar and its not working. I understand that you have to do a long hold in order for the option to appear but after holding for several seconds absolutely nothing happens. Is this happening to anyone else? What am I doing wrong?

It's a common glitch. Go into settings and iCloud and toggle contact syncing on and off. this usually restores the + sign

How can I change the time zone for a calendar entry with iOS 7?

I want to make a new entry in my calendar (iOS 7) using a different time zone as the one I'm located in. There isn't any option to choose the time zone like there is in OS X.
I know I can switch off the option to automatically change the time zone in the preference pane of Mail, Contacts and Calendar to get the option in calendar but I want to use this automatic switch.
Is there any option to change the time zone of a calendar entry without loosing this automatic switch?

How do you remove facebook contacts from contact list in IOS 8?

Got a new 6+ today and it loaded all my facebook contacts in my contact list. How do you remove them. In IOS7 you used to go to settings/facebook/groups in upper left corner and uncheck face book, but its not there in IOS 8

IPhone's calendar week view error

Hello guys.
When i choose the week view on Calendar (IOS 7.03) the Day number marked is wrong.
The number 29 is below "Q" when the correct is below "T". But the extense text below shows correct.
Does it occurs with you?
