Calendar is automatically creating Location points - Why?

I'm using Calendar version 6.0 running on Mountain Lion 10.8.4 on an iMac. For some reason when I make a diary entry a location point is automatically created.As you can see on the above example Calendar has automatically created "The Day" as the location which is nonsense. I never type anything into this box. I simply leave it as None. Most of the automatically created locations do not make any sense. I'm at a loss as to how to turn this extremely annoying function off.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

I am having the exact same problem.
very annoying.
Anyone with an idea how to fix this?

  • How can I automatically create calendar events using text from a Pages document?

    Hello,
    I'm looking for a way that I can automatically have calendar events created, by extracting dates and times from a table within a Pages document I have saved on my Mac.
    Currently, I record my working hours/dates on a Pages document in table format, so that I can record and ensure I receive payment for all hours I work.
    After finding out which shifts I have for the week, I insert the day, date, start time and end time (for each shift), into a table within a Pages document.
    I'm wondering if there is any way - such as through Automator, Apple Scripts, etc. - that I can then have the Calendar app automatically create events from that data - including the date, start and end times for each shift?
    Also, if possible, is there a way to set each event to automatically alert me at a chosen time (1 day, 2 days, etc.) beforehand?
    Here is an example of the layout of my document table:

    If anyone can help with this question, that would be greatly appreaciated, as then I could have my calendar automatically create and sync my work shifts across to my iPhone, iPad and Mac.
    Thanks in advance,
    John.

    I totally agree with you.
    Where are the fixes for a long string of bugs, glitches and user issues?
    Looking at the list of new "features" for the next OSX, Maverick (what a dumb name!), all I am seeing is Apple ripping off other peoples' ideas, something it swinges others mercilessly for.
    There is not one thing in Maverick that I don't already have, only more so, with 3rd party add-ons.
    Apple seems bereft of ideas now and I am totally mystified what it is doing with all that money and employees it has accumulated.

  • Managed Property in Refinement - why not use the automatically-created site column managed property

    Hi,
    I read that although SharePoint 2013 automatically creates managed property for site column (OWS_Q_TEXT_COLUMNNAME) - in the refinement i should use a managed property and map to the ows_columnname. why?
    what's the difefrence?
    what is best - to create a new managed property (and set it as refinable) or use the OOB Refinementstring0, Refinementstring1 etc.)?
    keren tsur

    You are probably talking about this blog post.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/tothesharepoint/archive/2013/11/11/how-to-add-refiners-to-your-search-results-page-for-sharepoint-2013.aspx
    The reason you want to use the ows_columnname crawled property is because it is of the correct data type. The other is always text. If the site column is a date or a decimal then using the OWS_Q_TEXT... crawled property,will cause the refiner not to display
    the appropriate control, for example a slider control for a date type refiner.

  • Why connections automatically created??

    Hi,
    database: sqlserver 200
    driver: sqlserver jdbc driver from microsoft
    web applications and database are running on two separate window boxes.
    database connections are retrieved from our own connection pool and then released back to the pool.
    After the application runs about half a day or more, the server crashes and netstat shows that much more tcp/ip database connections are created than the number of connections in the pool.
    debugging found that in the following case connections are automatically created outside of the pool.
    connection con = pool.getConnection()
    statement st = null;
    for(int i=0; i<3; i++)
    st = con.createStatement();
    st.executeUpdate("updatestring");
    if(st != null){st.close();}
    pool.release connection;
    In the above code, 2 more connections are created outside of the pool. after we added 'st.close();' behind the ste.excuteUpate(), the problem is solved. However, there are still some connections created without calling getconnection from the database.
    The weird thing is that this kind of problem did not happen when the database and java application were running on the same windows box.
    Any idea will be appreciated.

    According to the "SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC User's Guide and Reference" (which comes bundled with the MS driver), page 26:
    >
    SelectMethod - SelectMethod={cursor | direct}. Determines whether database cursors are used for Select statements. Performance and behavior of the driver are affected by the SelectMethod setting.
    Direct - The direct method sends the complete result set in one request to the driver. [...] You should avoid using direct when executing queries that produce a large amount of data, as the result set is cached completely on the client and constrains memory. In this mode, each statement requires its own connection to the database. This is accomplished by "cloning" connections. [...]because transactions must occur on a single connection, auto commit mode is required. [...]
    Cursor - When the SelectMethod is set to cursor, a server-side cursor is generated. The rows are fetched from the server in blocks. the JDBC Statement method setFetchSize can be used to control the number of rows that are fetched per request. [...]
    The default is direct.
    There are a few things you should pay attention here. First, when using the default settings, the MS driver (and it's parent, the DataDirect driver) doesn't support transactions. Also, for some reason, it seems to be caching all the ResultSet on the client, although it doesn't have to; it could just read one row at a time and buffer it (which it doesn't do right either, because it doesn't support reading the columns out of order).
    Then, moving on to cursor mode, although it doesn't say it the default fetch size is of 1 (one) row. This means that a request has to be made for each row returned by a ResultSet. A very serious performance drop (depending on network latency). I haven't tested setFetchSize, I thought it only fetches one row at a time, regardless of this, I could be wrong.
    Now, about jTDS. jTDS used an approach similar to the direct mode of the MS/DataDirect driver up to jTDS 0.8 or so. It wasn't a good idea, as it also tried to support transactions, so you can imagine the mess.
    Currently jTDS has a socket multiplexer, which makes each Statement "think" it's the only one using the physical connection. This is how most other drivers that support concurrent statements do it. The multiplexing means that in some cases server response has to be cached to memory (or disk, after a certain limit is reached), this is why concurrent Statements should be avoided even if supported by the driver. As you can see it's not a limitation of the protocol or, to be more exact, it is but the driver usually does something to work around it. DataDirect choose to take the easy road.
    Then there are scrollable/updateable Statements. For these, drivers can use either server-side or client-side cursors. jTDS implements both: server-side for SQL Server and client-side for Sybase (which doesn't support server-side cursors) and cases when SQL Server can't create a server-side cursor (such as stored procedures consisting of more than a single SELECT). The default fetch size of jTDS is of 100 rows; this ensures a good compromise between performance (one request-response for each 100 rows) and memory overhead (unless the ResultSet contains LOBs, the maximum row size for SQL Server is 8000 and something bytes; this means at most 800KB of memory + the overhead of Java objects).
    So, to sum it up, jTDS uses direct selects (also known as fire-hose cursors) for forward-only read-only ResultSets (which is pretty much the only type of ResultSet used in server applications) and server-side cursors for scrollable and/or updateable ResultSets (with a default fetch size of 100 rows). All this on a single network connection.

  • I'm a new Mac user....how can i create a "sticky" with automatically reoccurring bullet points?

    I'm a new Mac user....how can i create a "sticky" with automatically reoccurring bullet points?

    On my previous Mac (long, sad story) I had Office for Mac and liked it a lot.  I was collaberating on some fairly complex legal documents, and never noticed any compatibility problems with Windows Office.  That said, it is expensive.  For most documents, I simply open the Word document in Pages and export it to Word when I am finished.  I sometimes get the message that there is a missing font, but the computer uses a substitute that is quite acceptable.  I have never had someone say that they had difficulty with a document I exported to Word.
    Numbers and Excel aren't as compatible in my experience, and I have gotten some surprises when I hadn't tweaked the settings properly when exporting to Excel.
    The other component of iWork is Keynote, and I like it much better than Powerpoint; to me it is just easier to use. I have never tried converting back and forth between Keynote and Powerpoint.
    Depending on what grade your kids are in and what they are doing, I think I would start off with iWork and see what, if any, problems they encounter.  Of course, if they are going to use the computer for a class in Office or its components, your kids are going to need a Windows machine with Windows Office, because Office for Mac is enough different that when the teacher says, "Now, move your mouse here and click on....", your kids are going to be lost.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Are wiki's/calendars automatically created for groups?

    All of my users are Active Directory users imported into OD. I have e-mail set up for all users and it works fine thru POP3 and thru webmail. I also set up all of these users into groups. The groups work fine for e-mail distribution, but I can't log into any of those group pages. The password box just shakes and asks again. I double checked in server admin and I noticed no calendars had been created for any of the groups. Do those only get created when a member adds something, or are my people unable to log in because the services did not get created properly? I also made sure that every group has the right to create calendars in Server admin.
    Thanks for any help anyone can provide,

  • Interact SNP: inserting a loc receiving calendar ctrl when creating order ?

    Hi all,
    When I manually create an order (planned distribution receipt) in a weekly bucket, the order is automatically created and fixed on Thursday 12:00:00 PM of the week. This is due to the period factor in the transportation lane's mode of transport that is set to 0,5 (thanks Srinivas for the info !     ) and it's perfectly normal.
    The problem is that no location receiving calendar control is made before creating the order : so even if Thursday is a non working day in the receiving calendar, the order is still created on that date, and fixed.
    Important : when I unfix the order, and then press enter, the date is recalculated taking into account the receiving calendar this time, and placing the order on an open day.  --> this significate that automatic receiving calendar control is possible in interactive SNP order creation.
    I tried to debug but I still can't find the moment when the system does the control...
    I'd want to insert an automatic calendar control directly when creating the order, but I didn't find any BADI or user exit that would allow me to insert the control at the right time...
    <b>Could someone help me to find an entry to insert that kind of control please ?</b>
    <i>By the way I'll create an OSS message about that point cause I don't consider this as a normal functioning...
    If anybody is interested in SAP response plz let me know.</i>
    Thanks for any help that could be brought... I reward points of course !

  • Automatic storage location for a material

    Hi,
    Can anybody help on following issue-
    Could we set up by Material number  for each plant, which Default storage location ( and/or shipping point ) will automatically show up in order entry.
    Pls. guide.
    Regards

    Hello,
    Your requirements are standard & can be met.
    Automatic/default Shipping Point:
    Go to IMG - logistics execution - shipping - basic shipping functions - Shipping Point and Goods Receiving Point Determination - Define Shipping Conditions.
    You enter the shipping conditions in the customer master - sales area data - shipping screen. Also in the sales document type configuration in VOV8, you can enter the shipping point. If you enter the shipping point in the sales document then this entry will overwrite the entry of the customer master.
    Go to IMG - logistics execution - shipping - basic shipping functions - Shipping Point and Goods Receiving Point Determination - Define Loading Groups.
    You enter the loading group in the material master - sales: general/plant data screen.
    Go to IMG - logistics execution - shipping - basic shipping functions - Shipping Point and Goods Receiving Point Determination - Assign Shipping Points.
    Here you will find as under:
    Shipping conditions + Loading group + Plant = Shipping Point.
    Default Storage location:
    Go to IMG - logistics execution - shipping - picking - Determine Picking Location - Define Storage Conditions.
    Here you define the storage conditions which you enter in the material master - General Plant Data / Storage screen.
    Now go to IMG - logistics execution - shipping - picking - Determine Picking Location - Assign Picking Locations.
    Here you will find as under:
    Shipping Point + Plantb + Storage conditions = Storage location.
    Maintain the data in the customer as well as material master correctly & the assignments should be as per the data maintained. Then whenever you will create a sales order, the system will determine the default shipping point & the storage location.
    Reward points if solution helps.
    With best regards,
    Allabaqsh G. Patil.

  • Itunes info selected calendars shows non-current iCal list -- why?

    Hello, I just purchased an iPhone (3.1.2) and wanted to sync a couple selected calendars from my mac onto my iPhone. Problem is that the list of "Selected calendars" does not have the 2 new ones I created for this purpose, and worse, is showing a few I thought I deleted a while ago.
    Does anyone know where I would look for the root problem and better yet -- how I might fix this?
    thanks

    Here's the answer:
    I migrated from one mac to another mac a month ago and used migration assistant. Calendars all looked good. I subsequently did calendar maint -- deleted a couple and created a couple new ones. NP, they all work fine in iCal. Then I bought an iPhone and wanted to sync my 2 new calendars to the phone.
    Problem: in iTunes, the "Selected calendars" list is old, not current. I notice that in users/../library/calendars are by timestamp, what I guess are my calendars. But in users/../library/application support/ical there are files timestamped from the day I migrated, and the same number of files as calendars that I had before.
    If I remove all files from users/../library/calendars and restart iCal, it recreates all my calendars as they appeared on migration day, so I assume getting them from the second location, which I assume iTunes is also???
    What I ended up doing was after having iCal recreate the calendars from the second location, I imported all of the .ics files for the newly created calendars in users/../library/calendars from my backup -- always backup before messing with things -- into new calendars in iCal. Though this all seem crazy redundant.
    Now iTunes see the correct calendar list. No idea why I had to go through all of this.

  • Automatic storage location view creation in maintenace order (IW31)

    Hello,
    Seems like I need some help.
    Have configured automatic storage location view creation for GR and reservation. Configured movement types are 101, 201, 261. While creating reservations (201, 261 mvmnt. types) with mb21 the sloc view is automatically created in material master, and everything seems fine.
    But in iw31 when I specify material number and sloc in a Components tab, I get an error message CO312: "The storage location data is not created". Automatic reservation is not created, and maintenance order can not be saved. Movement type 261 is used for automatic reservations for the maintenance order.
    If I configure message CO312 as a (W)arning  message, then it allows me to save the order and reservation, but sloc view in material master still is not created. Think that's not good and may lead to MRP issues.
    How can I configure automatic sloc view creation in iw31? Is that possible?
    Edited by: Konstantin Dudura on Nov 17, 2009 8:11 PM

    Hi,
    The customization required for Automatic Storage location creation at reservation are:
    Goto : SPRO -> MM -> inventory Management and physical inventory -> Goods issue/ Transfer posting -> Create storage location automatically
    first of all go to Plant and tick the automatic Storage location creation for the Plant. After that goto Movement type and tick the automatic Storage location for movement type 261.
