Calendar Losing Events-Crazy!

I am using Mavericks on an iMac and iOS 7 on an iPad and an iPhone.
Up until the other day, they synched their calendars perfectly via iCloud.
But now....well this is crazy....
If I add an event on my iMac on any day after October 6th 2013 they show up on both iOS devices and in iCloud calendar and on the iMac. But anything prior to that date does not show up on either iOS device but does on the Mac and iCloud calendar.
Moreover if I add an event prior to that date on the iOS device itself it does show up on the devices for a second or two then disappears...but it appears and stays on the Mac and in iCloud calendar.
Finally, most events prior to that magic date that were on all devices have disappeared but only on the iOS devices. I say most because the other day (November 4), I added a new calendar (Medical) and changed some events that were in the Personal calendar to Medical) and it is events in these 2 calendars only that have disappeared prior to October 6. NOTE: This change took place in NOVEMBER, but the date in which things disppear prior to is in early OCTOBER.
To make it crazier, events in ANY CALENDAR added prior to October 6 disappear on iOS devices....not just the two aforementioned calendars.
IS THIS CRAZY OR WHAT?
Or am I crazy for actually tracking down what is going on to this level of specificity?
Now, if somecome can tracj down why its happening...if I haven't lost you yet...
Thx.

That solved a lot but not everything...it WAS set to synch 30 days before so thats where the October 6th date came from. I changed to all events. And now new events stay on the iOS device no matter where they were created.
BUT...the previous events that disappeared, are still gone....
any ideas?

  • Is anyone experiencing their iPhone 4 calendar losing events and then have them come back after powering down their device and turning it back on?

My calendar events come and go periodically.  Anyone else have this issue and what do you do to correct.  They disappear and if I power off and back on they return.  Very disconcerting.

I have been experiencing the same issue with my phone {Iphone 4}, and that too is an issue. I have been in constant contact with Verizon over this. They are going to send me an replacement in the mail. I personally do not think that this will not address the issue over this new update. I believe that APPLE is going to need to fix the kinks out and make sure to update IOS6 for iphone 4 as well.

  • ICal/iPhone sync keeps losing events

Several times recently I have entered a new event in iCal on my iPhone. Then at some point in the future, I go to look for the event, either on my phone or via iCal on my MacBook, and the event has disappeared. A couple of times I found that my calendar sync settings in iTunes had switched themselves off. Today, however, "Sync iCal Calendars" is still checked, with the "All Calendars" radio button enabled.
I have lost two doctor's appointments and a friend's birthday this way.

I have been having this problem since I got the iPhone two Years ago. It will work fine for a while, but occasionally get rid of events. I know of 3 in the last couple weeks that have been saved and are fine but then they mysteriously disappear.
The last time I talked to Apple Support, they told me that I am the only person that they have had report this issue and the only person that seemed to have multiple calendars (I have 23, and need them). It is funny how the forum talk about iCal/iPhone syncing issues but apple doesn't seem to know about it.
They had me back up all my events on the computer and restore them. Then re-sync the iPhone. That seemed to work most of the times, but it seems to be a problem again for some reason....I just lost a couple more appointments^%&*^%
I hope they find time to actually fix the problem. As we become more dependent on these calendars, losing appointment information becomes more and more frustrating. Enough to change phones...

  • Looking for a Calendar-of-events to use in Muse

I am designing a website for an organization that wants to include their training schedule in a calendar of events. My understanding is that Muse does not have that function at this time. Can anyone recommend a third party software that can accomplish this?

    Hello,
In case your website is being hosted on Business Catalyst, you can use the Events module from Adobe Muse to get a calender with schedule.
You need to create the events in Business Catalyst and use the module in Adobe Muse. This is what Adobe recommends. There is no third party software which is officially recommended to get this feature.

  • Calendars and events are missing from iCal

What happened was I closed the lid of my MacBook Pro to put it to sleep. When I opened the lid to wake it, the screen was dark, like it was between 0 brightness and the lowest brightness setting. It also was not responding to trackpad or keyboard input, so I restarted it. However, when my computer started up, it seems as if my Mail.app had reset and everything was gone from my iCal. With Mail.app, after I redid one account, it seemed to return to normal. With iCal, I tried to sync it with my Palm, hoping that my calendars and events would get transferred to iCal. However, that didn't work, and I am getting errors with Missing Sync. The errors I'm getting are:
    OK TimeCopy
    OK Mark/Space Conduit for AvantGo
    OK Mark/Space Contacts
    SyncClient error. Mingling failed.
    OK Mark/Space Events with 1 message(s)
No folders have been selected to synchronize.
    OK Mark/Space Folder Sync
    OK Mark/Space MemoPad
    OK Mark/Space Photos
This conduit cannot be synchronized because there are no writable calendars available to synchronize. To correct this, select a writable calendar in the conduit's configuration window.
    No writable calendars exist
    OK Mark/Space Tasks with 2 message(s)
    OK Adobe Reader
    OK Documents To Go
    OK Note Pad
Anyone have ideas where the issue is?

If you want to use your back up you need to restore then entire Library from Time Machine, and then replace the damaged Library with it.

    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

This has worked fine with MobileMe with only a couple of minor glitches in the past.
Any experience doing this the "right" way?

If you're trying to sync an iCloud calendar, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar on your iPhone and make sure you have selected your iCloud calendar as your default.

  • JDI losing events on VM exit

    Hello all,
I have been writing a simple debugger application using the JDI architecture where i start the debugger, the debugger listens for a remore VM to attach, then the debugger monitors the remote VM until the remote VM exits.
I have been tracing method entries, but the JDI seems to lose events when the remote VM ends program execution. If I put Thread.sleep(500) or something similar as the last statement in the remote VM app that is being debugged, it gives me all the method entry events. If not, it seems to drop a random number of the method events and just gives me the VMDIsconnectedEvent or whatever it was called.
I guess this might be because the JDI implementation does not keep itself alive to fire off all the method events? Or maybe it is not this, I am just guessing.
Any ideas how to avoid losing event? I could maybe add a shutdownhook with a thread.sleep, but that would require modifying the debugged app and I find that unacceptable..
    thanks for any help,

I didn't face similar problems when worked with JDI, could you show that part of your application which listens events?

  • Calendars lose events

Why has iCal suddenly lost most of my events?
    How can I restore them?

Just found out a way to restore it, I had the same problem.
    1) Using the time machine backup, get your calendar files (<hard drive>/Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/iCal /Sources/Calendars) then exit time machine
    2) Open Calendar and export a Calendar Archive to your desktop or wherever
    3) right click the .icbu file, show package contents, and then replace the Calendar folder with the one retrieved from the time machine back up.
    4) Import the file in Calendar, and boom. Old calendars and events are back.

    Hey Armando Stettner,
Thanks for the question, and what a great question it is!
With time zone support on, you can edit an individual event and change the time zone for that event. This list will include options for your default time zones, UTC, and "floating" - the latter of which is what you are looking for. Floating changes the event to occur at the specified time, local time.
For information on changing an event's time zone, see the following resource:
Calendar: Change an event’s time zone

I look forward to hearing how this works for you.
    Cheers!

  • Calendars and event data lost in mountain lion upgrade from snow leopard on mac book pro

I just upgraded to mountain lion today. It appears my contacts and emails were transferred without loss to the new system but all of my calendar data and the calendars themselves have disappeared. Does anyone know how I can get my old calendars and event data back? I backed up my laptop on time machine before doing the upgrade, so my old calendars should be on my external hard drive. I'd like to simple recover the data from the laptop if it is just hidden somewhere. Alternatively, if someone could tell me how to import the backed up calendars back in that might be a good plan B. I also still have the old calendars on my iphone which I am afraid to sync for fear of data loss.
I looked through previous responses in the community to this same question and I tried deleting the account and adding it back in but that did not work. Any assistance would be appreciated. Apple support is giving me an cold shoulder that is rather unexpected given my past good experience with Apple support. Bummin out over here

Which way do you reinstall OSX?
I would go through the recovery partition, check Disk there and then run the installer. make sure you have a reliable connection the the Internet.
This could be a third party app you have running in the background that is crashing. what exactly is crashing ?
    are you getting kernel Panics?
You are not able to simply roll back to Snow Leopard, you will have to have a SL disk, and then erase and install SL onto you hdd/ssd. This will erase ALL of your data so I hope you have a Time Machine backup or bootable clone.
I believe your issue is with a third party application installed.
    More information is needed.
Call 1-800-My-Apple or file a dispute here https://expresslane.apple.com/Issues.action
On a personal note, I think you are missing out on ML and need to figure out if there is an application running that is causing ML to crash.
Usually a reinstall fixes my issues.

  • TS3999 Subscribed calendar shows events in French on my iPhone, but English on my mac. Why?

    Hello,
I am using iCloud to sync my "Friends' Birthdays" calendar from Facebook between my mac and iPhone. On the mac with iCal, this works fine. Events show up in their own calendar exactly as they are supposed to. The calendar's location is set to iCloud under the info pane.
The problem occurs when the subscription is shared to my iPhone. The "Friends' Birthdays" calendar syncs in French! So instead of "Steve's Birthday", the event shows up as "Anniversaire de Steve". I tried subscribing to the calendar directly from my iPhone, but the same problem occurred. The iPhone defaults the name of the subscription to "Anniversaires d'amis", and the events are still in French.
This is not a problem with international settings that I am aware of. Here is a breakdown of my language preferences:
    Facebook: US English
    Mac: English
    iPhone: Settings>General>International>Language>English
    "">Voice Control>English
    "">Region Format>Canada
    "">Calendar>Gregorian
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Sync>Events 1 Month back
The only thing I can think of is that my wife uses her computer in French, and Facebook has associated our IP with her language preferences or something, but that should change the way iCal displays its events too, right?
    Confused!

Your Google calendar is not stored locally on your devices (other than a temporary cached view for use while your device is offline); it's stored on Google's server (just as  iCloud calendars are stored on iCloud's servers).  Neither can sycn data from the other service's server.  If you want to use iCloud to sync your calendars, you have to import it to iCloud's server as shown in the linked video.  Or, just continue to use Google instead.  (They are similar services.)

  • [Office365][Calendar]When event has alot of attachments, sometimes value of subject is null.

I use below Office365 rest API to get events of specified calendar.
    https://outlook.office365.com/api/v1.0/me/calendars/{calendar_id}/events
When event has alot of attachments, sometimes value of subject is null.
Is it bugs of REST API ?

    Hi LanNT,
Thanks for your post!  The issue may be with returning Body for the specific item you are opening.  We just tried reproing and were unable to, when accessing an event with or without attachment.  The body displays fine.  Do you see
this behavior occur with multiple events with attachments?
Please let me know if you have any questions or need more info.
    Thanks,
