Calendar memory full

Hi there,
I've got an N96 and every time I try and open the calendar it says "Memory full. Close some applications and try again". I'm not sure how many calendar entries I've got but it's obviously quite a lot.
Some of these entries are pretty important so I'm getting quite worried about not being able to retrieve them. Any suggestions? Would synching it with Outlook work?
Thanks a ot.

Thanks a lot. I ordered a USB cable yesterday so I'm hoping that will work. I don't think it's a case of having too many applications open because even just after I've turned the phone on and tried to access that calendar, I still get the same message. The rest of the time I just get message saying 'Memory full. Delete orf move some date from C: Phone Memory'. Does anyone know if deleting other things (messages, notes etc.) would solve the problem?
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Software or even hard reset perhaps is the only way for a quick solution/fix, but first back up using for example Outlook using Nokia Suite or Funambol.
Not a nice problem you having here.
PS Are you using the phone to connect to a server with the built in file manager or do you use for example Whats Up  DS

    Hi Hardstylehunt3r,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Nokia discussion forums.
Sorry to hear about your issue but there certain steps you can try to resolve this issue.
Memory full messages may occur if there are too many applications running at the same time or if there is not enough free space in the phone memory. Depending on the error message, the following actions can be taken:
"Memory Full: Close some applications and try again"
In this case there are too many applications active at the same time. The problem can be fixed by closing some of the applications:
Long press the Menu key to see the list of active applications.
Select the applications which are not needed and close them.
If this doesn't help, switch off and restart the phone.
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card memory is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, e.g.:
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
"Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
To free phone memory, transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options >Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
    Contact information.
    Calendar notes.
    Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (selectOptions > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
    Or you can try this:
To release the phone memory and change the email store from the phone memory to the memory card, follow the steps below.
Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Other.
Select  Memory in use> Memory card.
To question Copy all messages to the new message memory?, select Yes.
To question Save original messages?, select No if you want to release the phone memory or select Yes if you wish to keep the original messages in the phone memory.
Alternatively you can sync your phone with Nokia suite and clear the messages that way if it is not showing on your device. Full instructions on how to sync can be found on the follwing link:
    http://support.ovi.com/osc/en_GB/service/ovi_on_your_computer/howto/support-suite-syncing-and-backin...,
If this doesnt help you can try doing a soft reset by inputting code *#7780#. This wont delete any data but rather reset your phone settings. If the device ask for a default code this is usually 12345.
There's a lot to try to resolve here so give it a go and let me know if any helps.
    Regards
    Raoul_Duke

  • E66- always says " memory full"

    Hi guys,
do somebody has the same problem- and solution. I installed  latest 300.21.012 on my E66, but often / 2-3 times per day/ the phone just stops to answer to me and when i push some of the short buttons , the device says : "memory full, please close some app" and that is it. I have to restart the phone. The terrible thing is at morning clock alarm- i woke up and see that the phone is already blocked by himself.
I format memory card, made a hard reset, after that update /reinstall latest firmware, but still problems.
When a make a restore only of contacts & calendar appointments the problem is often. When i input them manually / ~70 rows/ the problem is showing seldom.
Funny thing is that i do not have any problem with camera strips
My greetings to Nokia for the phone, but i think the firmware is not suitable.
Can somebody tell me some solution for this problem, or this phone is  just not reliable.

My E66 problems after update /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&thread.id=53928
I can't help but, something memorycard accsessproblems after update,
(i think Nokia made some misstake in the update with the memorycard accsess).
memorycard may not always work, then it store averything on phone memory instead.
I by a new cheep 2 GB memorycard, with that i see no moore problems.
Next update i'm gonna try without memorycard in the phone.

  • X6 mass memory full error

I want to copy some MP3 files to the X6 phone mass memory through windows explorer but it give me a memory full error message.
Before I start to copy, it indicated 8.40G free out of 15.0G (not sure why it is 15G), but once I start to copy, it pops up the error message. I disconnect the phone and use the phone file manager to check and it has about 8.4G free. Try it again, the same happened.
While in windows explorer it indicated it is full full, under the ovi suite->view->device information, it has 8,4G free! I know I have the space because I deleted a lot of files recently.
    Firmware: V21.0.004. OS: Windows 7

I received an email from Nokia support about the issue however unfortunately their advice was useless...
I will copy/paste it here in-case it might be useful to anyone else.
Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. In response to your concern with your device, the phone notifies you if the phone memory is getting low.
To free phone memory, transfer data to a mass memory in the File mgr application. Mark files to be moved, select Move to folder (or Organise > Move to folder) and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
    a. Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging
    b. Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory.
    c. Saved images, videos, or sound files
    d.Contact information
    e.Calendar notes
    f.Downloaded application packages
g.If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them
h.Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the mass memory instead of phone memory in the Camera application. You can also use Image Store available in the Nokia PC Suite or Ovi Suite to transfer images and video clips for example to a compatible PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).

  • Memory full error...when it isn't

Since updating to Belle I've been receiving a lot of "memory full" messages in a variety of applications, often with barely anything else running on the phone.
I've done a fair bit of testing to try to narrow down the culprit but I'm coming around to the conclusion that it's Belle, not the apps.

    I do almost no browsing.
My unscientific narrowing down comprised of:
    Reformatting N8
    Installing Belle
    Installing a few apps
Memory full error occurs after one or two days
I thought it might be Swype (from Beta Labs) so didn't install it one time but still got memory full.
I thought it might be Maps Suite 2.0 (from Beta Labs) so didn't install it one time but still got memory full.
I thought it might be IMO (as it's not officially available for Belle) so didn't install it one time but still got memory full.
Apps that I consistently install are:
    Cutebox
    Store
    DLNA Play (Beta Labs)
    ScreenSnap
    Opera
    GoogaSync
    Battery Info
...and I also have two email accounts which check every 15 mins.
    I have three homescreens:
    1.
    Calendar (official one line version)
    Fourteen app shortcuts
    2.
    Two email widgets
    3.
    FM transmitter widget
    DLNA Play widget
    Music player widget
    Four app shortcuts
    Battery Info widget
I should have just included screen grabs, lol!
Sometimes the memory full message appears when I'm doing something big, like starting maps or camera or calendar (never photo gallery though), but other time it happens while doing something small like switching homescreen or backing out of an application, but the strange thing is that when I check memory status (RAM, not the C: drive) I find that there's plenty free.
    Anyway, homescreen grabs attached.

  • 9300i Memory Full - Delete some files - Memory Ful...

I had trouble with my 9300i, it started saying "Memory Full" and told me to delete some files. The problem was, I tried to delete files, but the phone couldn't do it, because the memory was full... I couldn't do anything.
The Control panel's "Memory" said I had 500 Kb of messages, 500 Kb of calendar, and 79 megabytes of "Other file types".
The File manager did not show me anything other than "My own files" and the folders were empty.
I couldn't find any help from Nokia sites. A friend adviced me to make a Full backup on a MMC card, transfer it to PC and delete a certain file: Mail/index. That's what I did, then I resetted the phone to factory settings and transferred the Full backup back to phone.
This helped and my phone was once again operational. However, all my messages were gone, and I had to save the email settings from scratch, so beware, if you need to do the same.
So how can the memory fill 100% if I use the "Delete sent messages after X days" and keep deleting the new ones?! What is this "index", and why is there no clever way to make it smaller...

How are you resetting your phone ?
I would advise you to use one of the two methods you can find in this post :
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=4007
However please be aware that doing so will wipe ALL the data from your phone such as information in your calendar, contacts and so on.
In order to save your data you can use the PC Suite application to save and restore the data from your phone - this software can be found here :
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
One thing to note is that as part of these diagnostics, you should NOT restore any backup or install any software on the phone as you could be putting the problem back onto the phone.
If this doesn't work then it's likely you have a hardware fault and you should approach your local Nokia Service Centre to get your phone fixed.
    Hope this helps.
Please let me know how you get on.
    Regards,
    Edward

  • Memory full on Nokia E61

    Hi,
I have bought a Nokia E61 a short while ago and I am having problems with the memory: I don't have anything much on the phone yet in terms of data - my contacts (for which I haven't even maxed out the possibilities of entering addresses etc.), calendar entries, a few pictures. Today, I was just trying out adding thumbnail pictures to a few contacts and after I had done so for two or three, I got the message (when I tried to add another): "Contacts: Phone memory full. Close some applications and try again". I didn't have any applications open that I was aware of. By backing up the phone memory to the SD card, I found out that it was less than 1MB.
Does anyone have any ideas what that could be or what I could do to fix it?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hendikoischnur

    Hi Ianbrown,
yeah, that's what I thought too at first. But I didn't have much on the phone at all - only a few avatar-sized pictures (max. 100kb), my contacts (not too many and not all possible information per contact), calendar entries (not too many, either). Moreover, I tried afterwards with one avatar picture that was smaller and one that was bigger, and both worked. Also, when the pictures are stored already, linking them to a contact should not take up much additional memory, should it?

  • Memory Full Message - E61

Sometimes on my E61, I see that I have had no email messages for some time and then when I try to synchronise manually I get a 'Memory Full: Close some applicationas and try again' message. I don't know exactly what this means, but there are no other apps running and all I can do is to shut down the phone and restart it, which solves the problem. Is there anything to be done to prevent this?

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I think that the last reply is on topic. The thread starts with a memory full message query. This is the same message that I get from time to time, and I have gradually moved almost everything that can be moved from the phone to my card.
In fact going to memory details in the file manager application gives me the following result.
Memory in use - 5656 Kb
    Free memory - 60 Mb
    Calendar - 90 Kb
    Contacts - 137 Kb
    Documents - 1 Kb
And I still get the Memory Full message. This means that the phone cannot check email, cannot go online, cannot update WorldMate. In fact, it renders the smartphone into a normal cellphone with a big keyboard.

  • Fsmailserver: memory full. Close applications and ...

    Hi,
    I am using 4 e-mail accounts:
Three imap accounts for which i am syncing e-mail every 15 minutes
One Mail for Exchange account i am syncing google calendar with
After a while (sometimes already after a few hours, sometimes after a few days) i get the error message “fsmailserver: memory full. Close applications and try again”. This happens whenever new mail gets in and whenever i am sending a new e-mail.
This N8, however, has plenty of memory left! When i close all running applications via the task menu and i also close the e-mail application, then restart the e-mail application, the error message is still issued. It also doesn’t ring the normal new-email sound anymore, but gives two short error clicks.
Very annoying because now i am not even notified of new e-mail any more when this happens. So that makes the N8 very unreliable for e-mail, which is one of the main aspects of a smart phone anyway!
I can only fix the error by switching the N8 off and on again.... But after a while it will happen again!
    Regards,
    Jan

  • LG Ally text message memory full

I have had this phone for a little over a month now and I get the message "text memory full" all the time. I have 2 conversations open all the time and I clear them once a week. Other than that I don't have tons of messages. I looked online and it said to clear my cache. Well when I tried to do that it helped some but I deleted all my  live backgrounds that came on the phone and that I use, and now I can't figure out how to get them back. I really like the phone but I'm tired of having to clear all of this stuff every so often. I have never had that with any phone and I don't get a warning to clear stuff before it happens. Does anyone have any suggestions????

I have given some steps below that may be helpful when getting the “text memory full” message.
    Check your messaging options:
-Click the icon button (the one with the 32 little boxes’)
    -Click on the messages icon
-Click your menu button (the hard key with the 4 vertical lines)
    -Select settings
-Delete old messages (I would recommend checking this option, as it ensure the limit is not reached)
-Test message limit (change to desired number, the bigger the number, the better)
I would also recommend occasionally (as needed) deleting some of the threads as well.
-Click the icon button (the one with the 32 little boxes’)
    -Click the messages icon
-Click menu button (the hard key with the 4 vertical lines)
    -Select Delete Threads
I would also recommend checking the devices memory (I have listed those instructions below
-Click the icon button (the one with the 32 little boxes’)
    -Click on the settings icon
-Click SD card & Phone Storage
-Available space should give you a number in MB’s (megabytes)
Lastly, I would recommend stopping any applications that don’t need to be running. For instructions click HERE.
    Hope this helps!

  • Memory full. Not enough memory for operation.

    To the Report Design Team,
It has been suggested that I post this issue here based on another thread I started: Re: Memory full. Not enough memory for operation.
The template contains a single 24 bit PNG image as a background in the Page Header section, plus 9 image records from a SQL Server image field over 3 pages (3 images per page).  The images are all JPG at 3000x2000 (digital camera).
To summarize, we are experiencing three problems.
    1. CR2008SP2 Designer issues a Memory Full error when Exporting to PDF.
    2. Using a 3rd party PDF Printer (Bullzip PDF) and CR2008SP2 Designer generates a PDF, however, the CR2008SP2 API throws a "Memory full" exception suggesting Designer and API are different (see stack trace in linked message above).
    3. With only 3 images on 1 page, CR2008 Designer Export to PDF takes 110 seconds to generate a 24MB PDF while our third party PDF Printer generates the same report in 17 seconds and 580KB.
Edited by: Don Williams on Sep 30, 2009 6:43 AM

The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?
    Regards,  Grant.

  • Nokia C5-03 Error: Memory full. Close some applica...

    Hi,
I purchased this phone mainly to use for Navigation and phone, but disappointed by the error shows up every time when you are in need while using Map.
I do not have any extra applications running other than it came with. I have closed all the running application which running map. Phone software and Map is upto date with version (V22.0.007 and 2.45 on map) Earlier versions also same problem. Currently the available memory shows 27.2 MB)
I tried all the solutions given in /t5/Hardware-Codes-and-Operator/Nokia-C5-03-SIM-memory-full-but-NO-SIM-MESSAGES/m-p/1260683#M25236, but no use. Same error.
Is there any way out other than choosing another phone and brand?
    Regards
    Simon
Moderator's notes: Post moved into it's own thread.

I am completely frustrated with this phone (Nokia C5-03). I originally wanted a smartphone but didn't want to buy the brand leader like everyone else so I thought I could rely on a Nokia.  I have had this phone for less than 12 months now and I have already done a full reset TWICE and have lost all of my information.  On both occasions when the memory problems starting occurring with the phone I tried to back up my info to my PC but the phone told me that I had "not enough memory to perform operation"!!!! I am now getting memory full messages every 10 minutes and the phone will do nothing for me.
There is nothing left on the phone to delete.  I had my email synched to the phone originally for about two weeks but had to get rid of it as it was slowing the phone down.  I never connect to the internet with the phone - I mean NEVER. In browsing the web for solutions I am constantly finding varied and interesting comments about clearing the cache via the web app (I cannot connect to the web on the phone now - NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO PERFORM OPERATION) and connecting my phone to a PC and browsing the memory to find out what the "other files" are (NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO PERFORM OPERATION) or even downloading software onto the computer, running this in the background as I connect phone to PC in order to clear the memory (NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO PERFORM OPERATION).
I reiterate that I use the phone for nothing other than SMS and calls.  I had images on the phone but they are long gone. I have done two full resets to factory default settings and I'm facing another one and I am beyond frustrated. Please dont tell me to connect to my PC (see above) dont tell me to connect to web via phone (see above).  My phone memory is showing 22MB SIS applications (which I understand I cannot get rid off) and 46MB other files (WHY????) I reiterate that I do not (and now cannot) browse the web on the phone, I don't use e-mail on the phone, all I do is sms and calls.   WHY WHY WHY is my phone not working?  Is there anything to be done with this phone or do I put it out of its misery?

I'm getting "memory full error" during generation of report. CR version is 8.5. The report contains 2 sub reports. Can anyone suggest what exactly the problem is and what could be the solution ... ??
    Thanks in advance ...

And if you run the report int he Designer do you get the same error?
If not then what is the application doing when it gets the error?
What have you done to debug the issue?
Yes, getting the same error in designer also. My application is actually passing data to CR for some inventory related display. The report contains 3 sub reports linked with main report. I'm debugging all the sub reports as I doubt that it can be bcoz of one of the sub reports.  Will check and update you ...
