Calendar migration with csexport/csimport

Is csexport/csimport of individual calendars a viable alternative to using the database migration utilties (csmig, csvdmig, etc.)
I'm combining separate iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 and SunONE Calendar Server 5.1.1 environments, with separate directory servers, into a new Communications Suite R5 environment. The calendar users will already have entries in the new directory, which will be migrated from the iMS environment.
It is clear to me that the calendar database migration utilities provide an all-at-once, all-or-nothing migration, but I'm considering whether a gradual migration might be safer, and simpler since it doesn't involve a merge of the directories.
I guess the short question is: can I export from CS 5.1.1 and import to CS 6.3?

(csmig, csvdmig, etc.)csmig/csvdmig are used to migrate the LDAP user information, not the calendar data itself. For this you need to use the cs5migrate software (available in the latest 6.2/2005Q4 calendar patch).
I haven't heard of anybody using csexport/csimport to migrate but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done.

be migrated from the iMS environment.Ok with you so far. Please note though that 5.2/5.1.1 -> Comm-Suite-5 is not a supported/documented move - doesn't mean you cannot do it, just means its not supported. That is why the cs5migrate script isn't available in the comm-suite-5 calendar server release.

it doesn't involve a merge of the directories.Getting the co-ordination right is the problem - also working out how to have users on the 'new' system invite users on the 'old' system is an issue.This is the fundamental problem with all calendar software, the move tends to be an all-or-nothing affair (which like yourself I tend to cringe at).
I guess the short question is: can I export from CS
5.1.1 and import to CS 6.3?The short answer is.. try it and see. Export all the calendars from 5.1.1 import into the new one and see whether people's calendars look right or not.

Sync address book and calendar 8830 with 8130 via DM

I just changed from using an 8130 and now use an 8830. I assumed I could use DM to backup my 8130 and then restore it to my 8830. However, when I do this, many items do migrate, but not 2 of the most important ... my address book and calendar. Both are personal devices and are not linked with any work email server, so that's not the issue. I do notice that in the backup file from my 8130 the address book is called "Address Book - All" and similar with the calendar. However, with the 8830, it is labeled as only "Address Book". I'm wondering if this is the problem? I'm hoping someone can help me get my address book and calendar migrated to my new device.

BTW, I already tried wiping the new 8830 ... that did nothing.

In Desktop Manager, use the application Switch Device Wizard.

How can I use different calendars associated with different emails to see appointments separately?

I have 3 emails accounts on my Blackberry curve. I want to use different calendars for different type of reminders/appointments. How can I do that? In calendar I pressed menu key and then clicked on select calendar, choose one email address (email 1) then entered an alarm but now if I go to a different calendar associated with different email ( email 2), it also shows me that alarm which I entered in email 1 calendar. Don't have LV handy to open the old code, but I did read through the thread you referenced. It sounds like the example configured 2 counters to create the variable-freq finite pulse train and configured a 3rd counter to count the # steps generated as verification. That 3rd counter would be a problem for you as there is no internal timing signal connection between your 2 USB devices. You would need to run a physical wire connection and change some of the config code to match. Alternately, you could just delete all the code associated with the 3rd counter for now because it isn't strictly necessary.
Further advice/questions: Are you planning on a pure sine wave of frequency such that you oscillate with both positive and negative velocity (example: varying from -1000 to +1000 Hz clockwise)? Or is there a nominal average frequency with a small sine wave superimposed (example: nominal of 1000 Hz clockwise, variation of +/- 50 Hz)?
I *think* you may be dealing with more of a continuous pulsetrain situation, which is actually much simpler. You would only need 1 counter/timer, though you would still perform the freq changes in a timed loop which uses the pulsetrain as its timing source. You'd just need to keep track of your total elapsed time so you could figure out the right sinusoidal freq value at the moment you're ready to update it.
Another subtlety to watch out for if you're oscillating about 0 velocity -- don't try to create a frequency that is lower than the rate at which you need to update. Also, with steppers you may have mechanical stability issues at low freqs like 10's to low 100's of Hz. These kinds of things may need to be managed as special cases which force you to deviate from a "pure" sine wave.

I'm not going to be of much use regarding answers but I sure am going to watching this post like a hawk for any replies. My package is a slightly diluted version of this and I do find the BBtalk and data limits hard to make the most of as well.
If nothing else this totally highlights how complicated BT have managed to make their packages.
A cynic would assume that they are trying to catch us out at every step and for us to either be overspending or not really getting the moneys worth.

Easy solution for restoring lost calendar informaiton, thank goodness. On your iPhone, go to settings, then to iCloud. If your Calendar selection is turned off, turn it on. Your info should restore. If your Calendar selection is turned on, then turn it off. Choose to save calendars when asked. After it shuts the Calendar off, turn it back on. Your info should be restored.
Thank you to Apple support for walking me through this. Shame on you Apple for not just telling people about this easy fix rather than making us go through all of this pain and worry.

Content migrated with ICE, Name property and Check In

I have pulled in a new portal server several KM folders, originally located in another portal, with Content Exchange (online ICE protocol).
When I edit locally one of these migrated files, save, and check it in, I get a message complaining that the resource has no name.
Three curious things:
1) If I open the Details view for that file, I can see that the resource's name property is indeed correctly set.
2) After choosing Edit locally, the message reports the correct name of the resource!
You are currently editing the document "REAL_NAME_OF_THE_FILE.doc"...
3) From this page, if I choose Show Properties (showing me again the correct resource's name) and subsequently Hide Properties, no problem arises when checking the file in.
Please notice that:
1) This problem involves only the resources migrated with ICE.
2) If I change either the resource ID or its name from the Details view, no problem arises anymore.
We're using the ActiveX control to edit locally. Our portal version is:

What is the best practice for using the Calendar control with the Dispatcher?

It seems as if the Dispatcher is restricting access to the Query Builder (/bin/querybuilder.json) as a best practice regarding security. However, the Calendar relies on this endpoint to build the events for the calendar. On Author / Publish this works fine but once we place the Dispatcher in front, the Calendar no longer works. We've noticed the same behavior on the Geometrixx site.
What is the best practice for using the Calendar control with Dispatcher?

We need to integrate (implement a Single Sign On solution) Sun ONE/iPlanet Messaging and Calendar servers with Portal 6.0. The Msg and Cal. servers do not use Portal Profile server as their DS and have a different DS.This directory server is the external DS for Portal. After users login to Portal, they should be able to access Msg and Cal. servers without login to them again.
1. How do we do this without writing a java code/servlet ?
2. Is there any way that we could configure DSAME to create the URL,add userID and password to it and forward that URL to above servers ?

Like in the portal version 3.0 these channels
are enabling SSO for messaging and calendar servers.
(I tested them with iMSG5.2 and Calendar5.1.1)

Populateing Calendar Server with calendar events???

Hi all, is it possible to populate a user's calendar in Calendar Server with particular events? We are building a communications environment that will initially be comprised of Comms Express and Messaging server and later Calendar Server. This is for a student communications (ie email and possibly later calendar) system.
I'm interested in knowing whether a user's calendar can be populated with predefined events. In our case, that would be to populate a student's calendar with the student's exam timetable?

I don't understand this answer. What do you mean " your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have selected to sync."? The address book is created on the phone not in Itunes or any other program/service. When Itunes says backing up phone I have to assume it backs up everything on the phone. Most of what's on my phone does not come out of itunes. I download apps directly on the phone. When the software updates it does not bring those apps back. I have to go into the appstore and install them all over again. Itunes music library syncs with whatever is on the device your linked up to BUT the phone book just dissappears after you update the phone. There is no way to save it anywhere else.

IPod Touch Calendar sync with online google calendar?

Does anyone know if there are any plans of making the iPod Touch calendar sync with the online google calendar? I mean; the iPod have the ability to get gmail and it should be really good to have the same functionality with the calendar.
I've read about some 3'rd party software that do this for me, like a calendar gateway. It would be really nice if the iPod could do this by itself. Is it possible?

The response I got was to check out Re: problems synchin gmail contacts & calender to touch via web/wi-fi NuevaSync. It's free and it can sync the Calendars and Contacts.
Have not tried it yet myself but will do when I get 5. Let me know how you go...

You need to create a calendar, that you share.
After creating the calendar, click on the Calendar-Button in the upper right corner of the iCal Window, then select ,"Share" from the drop down menu.
Choose "Share with only people you invite".
Then add your event to this calendar.

Trouble setting up Outlook 2007 Calendar & Tasks with Icloud

When trying to set up Calendars & Tasks with outlook I keep getting the message "Restart Outlook with Mail enabled before turning on Calendars and Tasks or Contacts - You need to add your icloud Mail account to Outlook before Calendars & Tasks or Contacts can be set up." I've set up the mail account as instructed. Mail and Contacts have been transferred to Icloud, Calendars doesn't work. When I click "OK" on this message to restart Outlook nothing happens. Any idea what's going on?

We have this issue at our company as well. We have Exchange 2010 on the back end, execs with latest-model iDevices (iOS 8.1.2, iPhone 6S, iPad Air, etc.)
These execs have several monthly and weekly recurring meetings. Sometimes, they will adjust one meeting up or down a half-hour.
If done on the CEO's iPhone, it does not change his iPad or Outlook. If on his iPad, it doesn't change iPhone or Outlook.
If done via Outlook, either by him or his executive assistant (delegate editor access to calendar), outlook updates but neither iPhone.
Our Exchange admins have verified that they see the updates go from Outlook clients to Exchange and out ActiveSync.
We finally have a SyncDiagnostics profile on the iDevices, but we have to wait for the execs to make meeting changes that don't sync.
