Calendar - possible to disable "smart" event details in titles?

I'm extremely frustrated by Mavericks Calendar and Reminders apps... I came from 10.6.x and things worked flawlessly. now, I cannot name an event with any sort of details in the title without it taking those details and applying them to the event itself... and removing them from the event title!
for example, earlier today I was trying to set myself a reminder (via a calendar event, not the reminders app) that would remind me of an appt the next day. I clicked on the date where I wanted the event to appear two weeks in the future, set the time to 8:30pm so that it would remind me before I settled in for the evening that I had something important tomorrow, and entered "REPORT TIME - 4:30 tomorrow" and it removed everything but "REPORT TIME" and changed the event to tomorrow's date, not two weeks in the future, and changed the time to 4:30 instead of 8:30. I know this is supposed to be "smart" technology, but there has to be some way to turn it off, no? I could see if I had no other details, and just typed freely into the new event field and let it do its thing... but I then edited the event's time and date back the way they should be, and then edited the title back the way it should be, and it changed it again!
it took several attempts by making small changes and then saving them before it would allow me to put a title that included another date or time as the actual reminder. is there some setting (obviously not in the regular prefs), but perhaps a terminal command that will remove this "smart" event stuff?

I just submitted a feature request to Apple to add an option for this. Hopefully it'll show up in a future update.

Is it possible to disable - Outlook Calendar Email Notifications?

Hi all, hope you are well.
I have recently had a query from a PA to an MD where she makes a change to an appointment in his calendar even a simple edit, he obviously receives notification of this change. I have looked pretty much all over and am not familiar with such a function but
is anyone aware if it possible to disable this function as that is what they are asking for to happen.
So she manages his calendar and when she makes changes he receives the email notification, the question is simply is anyone aware of a way to disable this function? I'm of the opinion that if there is it will be a global rather than explicit function.
The other option I thought was to setup a rule in Outlook to delete such notifications I guess?
EXCHANGE 2010 AND OUTLOOK 2010 are in play here

As per the information and details provided by you, to disable Outlook calendar, email notification, please follow these steps: -
Step 1: - Open the
Outlook Options menu (File-Options).
Step 2: - Click the
“Mail” tab.
Step 3: - Adjust your notification settings under the
Message arrival section. You may disable all notifications, or pick and choose from the available settings.
Step 4: -
Desktop Alert Settings allow you to adjust the timing and transparency of the pop-up alert.
Step 5: - Click
OK when complete.

Calendar - "This event no longer exists" Cannot see event details

When I tap an event to see the details, the details view opens and a message that says "This event no longer exists" is shown. After I click on OK, the calendar returns to day view.
My calendar syncs with Google Calendar.
To reproduce this:
   1) Create an event (either on the Pre or on Google Calendar) with starting date in the past (I tried about two weeks)
   2) Set it to repeat daily until another date after the starting date, but also in the past (I used about one week)
   3) Exit the event details
   4) If created with Google Calendar, do a manual sync so the event shows in the Pre
   5) Try to open the event
I frequently need to review past events' notes and I can't because of this bug. Please tell me if any of you can reproduce this.

This happens with any repeating event created in a Google calendar which ends or has been deleted. Another problem is that if you have a notification set, you will continue to be notified for the repeating event after it's been deleted, but you get the same error if you try to view the details. It's been noted on this forum before.

Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page

Is it possible to disable the 'edit layout' link on the record detail page? Not the homepages, I know there is a switch for that, but I thought there was one for the detail pages?
I want to disable this as I dont want users saving their own layouts, they must stick to the related sections defined in the default layout. The problem is that if they are to have access to certain related lists when an opportunity is of a certain type but NOT other types. If they have saved the layout (using the 'Edit Layout' link), and change the record type, they will see related sections that have been set to 'Not available' in the default layout (ie step 4) for that 'type'.

Robbo, at this time it not possible to disable the Edit Layout on the record detail page.

Is it possible to create one event in Ical, but put it into two Google calendar accounts?

In my Ical i have multiple google calendars, from multiple accounts. I've got one calendar for my girlfriend (a Home account), so she can see my schedule and where i am. That brings a minor problem. In my Ical i have the same event now multiple times (one for my "home" account and one for my other account). So a lot of duplicate events. Is it possible to have one event, but put it into multipleaccounts? Anyone some tips or tricks?

Sounds like a major stuff up on apple's behalf as this feature has been announced widely (incl their own webpage) sand is even included in the official release notes of the install file(!!)

Calendar event details window size

I would like the ability to expand the fixed size of an event details. Currently when you double click to open the details of an event in the Calendar (v7 on OSX), the pop up overlay is constrained to a very small size. I want the ability to expand the small window with all of the details to the size I like. More than happy to pay to get this done.

I'm new to Mac and thought I was just doing something wrong. I can't believe I'm unable to stretch the size of the event window. Some calendar-invites have a large amount of content. Scrolling through the tiny event window is extremely painful.

Subscribe Calendar Event Details Missing

I have a new problem with one of our office iCals. We publish the HR calendar on the server, and everyone subscribes to it. Problem being that when someone new subscribes, they get all the events, but the events are blank. It shows the time span that the event occurs, but there is no title or description.
I went to other computers and verified this is the case. The calendar is working for anyone who already had it, and they can refresh and see full event detail.
To test the problem I had a user that already had it working go to a computer where it wasn't and subscribe with his authentication, thinking maybe it was user-related, but when he subscribed on that machine the same thing occurred, he got the events, but they are blank.
Anyone have a clue what this is?

Figured it out. For some reason the publisher's settings lost the checkbox that stated "Publish Event Titles" or something like that. Definitely weird.

Is it (or can it become) possible to assign colors to calendar categories or even specific events?

For the 'Category' feature this could be done with a pick-list for each category; Maybe a color selection over-ride for specific events under the 'Options' menu?

For categories, you can set the colour of a tiny bar in the event's entry in the calendar.

You can set the colours associated with calendars so a clumsy way to do it would be have separate calendars for the types of events you want to track. This would allow the entire entry to be coloured rather then the tiny blob associated with a category.

computers that currently rely on unsigned binds or LDAP simple binds over a non-Secure Sockets Layer / Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) connection will stop working if this you make this configuration change. You should first identify all the client computers
that are using unsigned binds.
When unsigned binds occur, the domain controller will log Event ID 2887 every 24 hours, indicating how many unsigned binds have occurred. If you want to learn specifically
which client computers are using unsigned binds to the domain controller, you can enable diagnostic logging for LDAP Interface Events.

Adjustments needed in Event detail/list layout, help!

I could really need your help on this:
I'd like to make these changes to the event module template:
- be able to hide the booking form for certain events
- make sure the event list layout only shows the upcoming events for the selected month. And not ALL upcoming events (otherwise this list is way too long).
- add a specific field for 1. time, 2. location and 3.costs in the event detail layout (just as the 'date' is setup).
Can anyone tell me if this is possible? And if so, how I can do this or who can do this for me? (I'm a beginner in ABC...).

Is there an easy way to at least make sure you can choose to hide the booking form per event? Because there are certain events that need to be booked elsewhere.
Hope that is fairly easy, then I can ask my developer.
Or would it even be smarter, and maybe even easier, to build an event feature like this module in e.g. web apps?

Is it possible to disable MobileMe sync to get ical sync to work?

iPhone to iCal sync worked fine before MobileMe enabled. Is it possible to disable the MobileMe sync until this issue gets resolved? Can't seem to revert the settings now that it is set up. Calendar notes don't copy, events get dropped. MobileMe is not fit for purpose at present.

How do I get rid of event details in iCal in iOS?

I'm trying to learn how to get rid of event details in iCal on my iPhone. With the event itself "edit" comes up when I touch the item. For event details, however, the "edit" option does not appear.

Not quite sure what you mean by "details", but after touching Edit for the event, touch the lines with the name and location and a cursor shows with the keyboard to edit those.
Note that you won't be able to edit Exchange synced calendars.
Also note that "iCal" is the OS X app. The iOS app on your iPhone is "Calendar."

How Do I: Bind a YUI Calendar Widget to a Spry Master Detail Region?

Does anyone know how to bind a YUI Calendar widget to a Spry
master detail region? I have the dataset, yui calendar inserted but
no clue how to bind the two so my dataset populates the calendar
(Highlights dates that have a event) and when a date in the
calendar is clicked it shows in the details section.
I have found a tidbit or two via google but they don't deal
with the new yui cs4
widget. I have seen some video on adove tv that touches on
inserting the yui calendar into a spry dataset but not how to bind
the two together...
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

You have to write some code that sets up a select callback on
the YUI side of things, and then set the current row of the data
set that matches that date.
