Calendar questions/trouble...

I will admit I do not know much about my iPhone accept to IM, make phone calls, and listen to tunes; just the basics in communication.  I am wanting to use the calendar functions, however, I do not care for the default calendar that comes with the phone (iPhone 4, by the way).  I downloaded the Week Cal app inexpensively and tried to set it as the default calendar and start using it.  Unsuccessful.  In Settings >> Mail,Contacts,Calendars there isn't even a calendar listed as the default calendar.  I did a few internet searches and found someone saying that if one wasn't listed, then there was only one (the original, I'm assuming).  Does this mean I can't set any other calendars as default?  Or is there a download available that will open up this option?  And, also, I can't even add events, reminders, etc. to the original iPhone calendar.  Therefore, this makes the iPhone calendar completely useless to me.
Hope all this makes some sense and thanks for any help anyone can offer.

There is no option, or way to, change default app designations in iOS.
The default caldnar setting refers to the default in the iOS calendar app, not an a specific app (so you cannot set your thrid party app as the default).
As for not being able to add entries to the calendar, could you provide a little more detail as to what happens or what you see when you try?

    APEX 3.01, RDBMS 10GR2
I am new to the APEX tool. Two calendar questions, please.
    (1) I have a requirement that the values in the calendar object ("year" drop box) need to go back to 1800. Currently, when selecting on the calendar object, the earliest year available is 1920. Any ideas on how to expand the range of "year" dates to allow the user to select as far back as 1800?
    (2) My requirement calls for limiting users to selecting the calendar object for populating the date field. Currently, while users have the calendar available to populate a date field, they are not forced to use it - ie. they could fill in the date field with a valid date and not use the calendar. Is there a way to limit user input of date fields to use the calendar object only?
    Thanks in advance,
    Barry D.

    Chrissy,
Thanks for the suggestion on how to force the user to use the calendar instead of entering data directly into the date field box. While setting the HTLM Form Element Attribute to "disabled" works for entering a new date [user cannot input directly into field, must use calendar], however, when I save my record, the date field is not saved to the database. All other elements are saved to the database. The saving of all data elements including the date, was working prior to this change. When I removed the suggested element attribute from my field and save a new record, all data is saved.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Calendar questions

I've just been to an O2 store to have a play around with the iphone, it looked great and seemed to work as good as I expected it to. A couple of questions though, can the events in the calendar be colour co-ordinated like in ical (i.e. blue for personal, green for work) and is there a week view (I only noticed list, day or month). Also, can you only play videos purchased through iTunes?
Finally, did anyone else notice the demo iphones were the 4GB model?
    Damien

    Hi
i dont know about the UK version but the US version - the calendar is not color coded - but is a button for Today, List mode, Day and Month - in day and month mode there are arrows to scroll back and forth and a + button to add events
as to iTunes - you dont have to buy music from iTunes - you can load parts of or entire cd's to it and then download them to the phone (dont know if that works for videi) - there are also in the iTunes store a lot of free Podcasts you can download and then sync to your phone
in software version 1.1.1 you couldnt make ringtones out of anything but music you bought in iTunes - on this forum folks are saying that in 1.1.2 (which is what comes on the UK version) you can now make ringtones out your own music and load them to iTunes which would then download to your phone next time you synced it ( if you turn on the option to sync ringtones)1.1.2 hasn't been released in the US so i cant verify that
Itunes lets you synch everything or you can selectively sync certain categories

  • IPhone 2G Calendar question, PLEASE.

All I see for the calendar here is about syncing. But I have no problems with that.
My problem is that my Calendar goes from Sunday to Saturday and I'm very used to calendars that go from Monday to Sunday.
Is there ANY possibility to change it?? I posted this on several online question sites and no one knew and I don't see it here either. Is there a possibility??
    Thanks a bunch.

This is determined on your iPhone at Settings > General > International > Region Format.
You must select a Region Format with a default calendar that goes from Monday to Sunday.

  • Calendar question re: times

I am not sure this is the right board for this question, but I could not find one that was appropriate.  I would like to know how to make the items I list on the palm desktop calendar be in order by time of day, but they are always haphazard.
    Will appreciate any help.
    Thanks!  Lisa

I use a Palm T3 v 4.1.4 of the desktop version -- which I believe is the latest version.
I have the same issue on the monthly calendar view on the desktop -- the times display out of sync. I believe that they appear in the order in which they were entered. So when I enter an evening appointment at say 9 pm, it's the first on the list in the monthly calendar view. If I then schedule a breakfast meeting, it appears next on the list and so on. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with the categories.
However when I added a test user and created three test events (out of time sych) for the same day, the monthly view displayed them properly. Hmmmm. I hesitate to create a new "me" just to correct this flaw. What on earth could it be?

  • Calendar question - not syncing Gmail

I recently created a new Gmail account. My old Gmail account is my Apple ID, so everything was synced to that. I have the Gmail app set up as my new email account now, but it will not sync the calendar. In settings, under Gmail, it shows the correct email, and calendars are turned "on." Why is it not finding my calendar updates though? Is it because my Apple ID is my old email? I've linked the two email accounts, shared calendars with both accounts, but it's still not working
    Suggestions???
    Thanks!

Somehow you must be missing a detail, there's no reason for the Calendar app to not see the GMail calendar if the GMail account has been created and Calendar setting is turned on.
In re-reading your posts there are a few fishy things:
1- Your Apple ID has no relation to this.  Even if your old GMail address is being used as your Apple ID that will have no effect on your Calendar.  The key question is, in Settings do you still have this old e-mail address set up as an account?  If so, delete this old GMail account from Settings/Mail if you're not using it.  Deleting this account will have no effect on your ability to buy things from the iTunes store.  You should only have the GMail account you're using entered into Settings/Mail.  Once you do that, make sure that Calendar is turned ON for this account, and make sure that this account is being used as the default Calendar account in Settings/Mail (in the Calendar section).
2- In your first post you said "I have the Gmail app set up as my new email account now"  The GMail app is only for mail, it does not provide Calendar support, so if all you did was add the app and sign into your GMail account, that's why your Calendar is not updating.  If this is what's going on, you need to add your (new) GMail address as an account in Settings/Mail.  If you're sure that you did this, there is no reason for your Calendar app to not see the caldendar associated with this account.
3- In your first post you said "I've linked the two email accounts, shared calendars with both accounts, but it's still not working"  I suppose you did this as part of your troubleshooting, but there should be no reason to link two GMail accounts to get your calendars to show up.

  • Gregorian calendar question

    Hello,
I'm having some trouble understanding the date format method, in particular, how to institute the LONG, SHORT variables of a date output.
Could somebody possibly explain where to use it? I've check the api and I just couldn't grasp it fully from that.
    thank you

No you don't sound demanding. It's always good to ask.
Because SimpleDateFormat formats a Date instance. So you need a Date instance for it.
You have a Calendar instance. Which is good because it's the right thing to be using when you want to add days like that. But a Calendar is not a Date so you can't use the Calendar in the formatter. You have to get the Date instance that represents the date in the Calendar instance.
And convienently there is a method called getTime that returns a Date instance from Calendar.
To be honest when I was going to help you out at first I wrote it (and you can) as
System.out.println("You will be 1,000 days old on: " + outCome.format(helpMe.getTime()));But then I thought better of it since that's more confusing. It's the same code as what I gave you but crammed onto one line.
And thanks for using the code tags. Appreciated. :)

  • Multiple GMail Accounts Contacts and Calendar Questions

I have a few GMail accounts, one of which I just created to keep a cleaned up version of my contacts on which leads me to my first question.
Is there a way to set the iPhone 3G up to be able to use my Contact list from GMail account A and yet when I click on Mail it gathers mail from GMail account B?
Also has anyone been able to setup Push communication with Google Calendar to be able to sync Google Calendar back and forth with the iPhone 3G without using software like Outlook?

Someone must have multiple GMail accounts; I am going to tamper around tonight and see what I can come up with but my main GMail account has contacts that don't need to be on my phone (and I can cut my list in half easily by getting rid of them).

  • Curve 8330 Calendar Question

I just got my Curve and really like it however I have a problem/question I'm sure you veterans could answer. I use Outlook 2007 for all my personal appointments/stuff (I don't use it for work). I created a blackberry email address (I want to keep the Blackberry and personal emails separate) which apparently created another calendar on the Curve. I've been adding appointments to both the Curve and Outlook and synced them hoping all appointments would be on both the Curve and Outlook calendars....well that wasn't so.
Is there a way I can a) still keep my blackberry email address and b) be able to add appointments to both the Curve and Outlook and have them all on 1 calendar?
PS: after I deleted my Blackberry email and re-entered a bunch of appointments it seemed to synch fine.
    Thanks for your assistance.

Go to the synchronization screen, click on the upper right corner Synchronize configuration, Your top radio button shoud now let you configue your options again. This time just pick calendar, so we can isolate any other options.Make sure you pick Two way Go through the wizard. Try it again. If there is any error message please let me know!

  • Calendar Questions: Home Screen

    Hi All, first post.
I have two email addresses set up on my BB 8130, both are gmail.
My company has no enterprise network, fyi.  But when my boss sends an event email to me, it automatically adds it to my calendar, but it doesn't show up on my home screen for upcoming events.
My guess is that only one calendar (the other one evidently) can show at a time.  If this is the case, is there a way that I can sync or merge the two calendars so that when he sends me a calendar event email that it shows on the homescreen.
I depend on that homescreen and I almost missed a meeting.
Also, is there any way to get more than 2 events displayed on the home screen?  I've googled this, but there seems to be no solution.

To answer this question What Carrier are you using and what version of Handheld software are you using (can be found under options>about)

  • Google calendar syncing trouble

I've searched this forum and could not find the answer but I hope I'm not asking a repetitive question.
I recently synced my iphone 3Gs with my Google calendar. The sync worked (when I add events from Google they appear in my iphone calendar and vice versa.) However, none of my previously created events from my iphone calendar are appearing in my google calendar. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Let me re-qualify my issue. Under my Google Calendar account I have the main calendar I originally set up when setting up my account. I then set up several other calendars under this same account such as events, work, family and so on. All the calendars showed up on my iPhone and iPad with no problem and worked great for a year and a half now until yesterday. My main calendar does still show up but the others no longer appear on my devices. Going on line to look at my Google calendar/calendars everything is fine with all of them. Any thoughts as to why they no longer show up on my iPhone or iPad? Thanks again.

  • Nokia 500 GPS questions/troubles with: Contacts, F...

So... I have owned my 500 now since Christmas (I received the 500 as a gift from my father-in-law). Overall, for my first GPS device, I really enjoy all the features... But, I'm having quite a few troubles and hoped that some expert users or Nokia Support folks might be able to help.
    1) It took me forever, but I found a program to sync my Treo 700wx from Verizon to the Nokia 500. When I first tried syncing my phone it was recognized just fine but then only downloaded my 5 favorite (or quick dial) contacts from the Windows Mobile homepage. Then I did some looking on the internet and found a program from a company called JETware Mobile Software at www.jetwaremobile.com. The first time I used this software (the trial version only) I suceeded in syncing 623 contacts to the Nokia 500. Here are the issues though... The addresses did not sync (what a huge inconvenience considering this was 90% of the reason I wanted to sync the contacts). The phone numbers for each contact (if there were multiple phone numbers for the same person) sync as seperate contacts on the Nokia 500 (not a huge deal).
Question# 1) Isn't there a way to use some sort of a program on the PC to syncronize contacts from let's say Outlook or VCF files or a CSV file to the Nokia 500 manually?
    2) I copied all the data from the supplied 2gb SD card and loaded it onto a new AData 16gb SD card & re-inserted the card to make sure everything worked ok on the device - No problem. I uploaded 8 gb of MP3 & 4 gb of Movies (in MP4 format - great program to use is www.pqdvd.com - buy the iPod version or PSP version so you can use it for both) and 1 gb of pictures.
    Here are my comments:
MP3's - The player is a bit cheezy, but I was finally able to figure out how to play at random all the MP3s or play individual folders of songs at a time. Too bad you can't create or import a playlist!
FM Transmitter - Totally worthless in Sacramento, CA where there isn't a whole lot of open FM channels on the radio dial. Unfortunately my Jetta doesn't have an audio input plug otherwise this might work a lot better!
Note: the only place I can find to turn the FM transmitter on is in the MP3 playing mode (very strange & annoying)
Movies - I read a lot here to find out why the playback was so choppy & pretty low quality... Bottom line - You have to record the MP4s at about 15fps and create a MP4 file for about a one & a half hour movie that is about 600mb or so. This seemed to work pretty good.
Question #2) Is there a recommendation from Nokia experts on how to help the FM transmitter function worth a darn?
    3) I've searched for many addresses on the GPS and echo other's complaints about very strange missing information & strange city lines in Nokia's software. It's very odd to me that I have to go thru about 10 clicks to "Take me home" and that everytime the device navigates me home it takes me a very off-the-beaten-path way home.
Question #3) Is there a way to save the route you actually drove between two destinations and store that as a trip on the Nokia 500 - vs. storing just the end destination & the Nokia solution to get from point A to B.
    4) Battery life - If I had to guess the average battery life I've seen using this device is about 1 hour from power up to "I really need charging". Is this normal for GPS devices? I'm guessing it must be and most people just keep these plugged in at all times to their cigarette adapters.
    5) Traffic - From my testing in Sacramento, CA there is no traffic service or alerts.
Question #4) Is there a service I need to purchase & how would one go about turning on traffic services for the Nokia 500?
    6) User-interface - I'm brand new to this whole GPS world but as you can tell from this review I'm pretty tech-savvy... I'm a bit surprised at home much savvy it really takes to operate this device and I would think the average not-so-savvy user would be very put off by this.
Overall if I were to rate this device out of 10 I'd have to say it's a strong 6/10 and possibly a 7/10.
I really appreciate any expert feedback on my above 4 questions & 6 topics if at all possible.
    Thank you!
    ~Jeff

Jeff, here's my input on your points and questions. Thanks for writing your post...
Question 1) It only supports syncing over bluetooth with phones that meet its bluetooth specs (see the user manual on the DVD for more details or the product website)
    Point 2)
While you can't create or import a playlist on the Nokia, you can use your media player on your computer (e.g. Windows Media Player), while the SD card is inserted in your card reader on your computer, to create a playlist. Then copy the playlist file over the existing playlist file found in the root of your SD card.
Question 2) Not sure how to answer this one. The transmitter is built into the Nokia. So you just need to program it to use an available frequency (understanding that it is hard to find in your area). It doesn't unfortunately have the ability to scan for available frequencies (that would be cool).
Point 3) After you've selected to take you home, press the menu button and the Alt Route button where you can (according to the manual) configure the Nokia to block a route from being used.
Question 3) You would have to create a trip that includes enough waypoints (which you can create by creating bookmarks as you drive along) and then use that. Not to be sarcastic, but I find it funny how obsessed we all get about a GPS choosing the best route when if you already know of a better route then why do you even need the GPS' guidance? I'm guilty of this too so I'm also laughing at myself.
Point 4) I'm guessing that if your using the bluetooth integration, the FM transmitter, the TMC receiver, streaming video, using navigation, and keeping the brightness at the max setting, the estimated 2hr battery life isn't going to happen. The manual actually recommends using the cigarette lighter because it is your TMC receiver.
Point 5) My city (Vancouver, Canada) does offer TMC and my Nokia says its tuned in (I know because I've also seen the message where it says it is Tuning) yet I've not seen one traffic advisory yet. My Nokia's manual included an addendum from Nokia saying that TMC service is not available in the US and Canada. We all know this isn't true but maybe this is Nokia's way of saying their version of a TMC receiver doesn't work in North America.
Question 4) Good question. I think the answer is no because this TMC receiver is meant to work with a free TMC service. I'm thinking that maybe the only TMC services in US and Canada are pay-services that require you to enter a subscription unlock code in your GPS - the Nokia doesn't appear to provide such a function. *** This is my theory, I haven't confirmed this with any TMC provider ***
Point 6) I agree the user interface is not meant for non-tech-literates. It took me awhile to figure it out. Especially the meaning of icons and when to use them. This is NOT the Tivo of GPS
Overall I'm satisfied with my GPS even though I suspect there will never be map, POI, or software updates. I plan to figure out a way to mount it to my motorbike and ride all the way down to Mexico City (if I can figure out how to unlock the license for the Mexico map!)

  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 Calendar Questions

We would like to move our equipment resource calendar from Outlook 2010 Meeting Requests to SharePoint calendars if SharePoint Foundation calendars can add additional functionality.
The problem we have had with the standard Outlook meeting request with the equipment added as a resource is that meetings/appointments only give reminder alerts before the meeting starts.  When users have had equipment for long periods of time, sometimes
they forget to return it and it isn't noticed as missing until the next person comes to pick it up a we discover it isn't physically available even through it shows as available in the calendar.
We would like the person reserving equipment to automatically get an additional reminder alert at the end time so they are always reminded to return the equipment.
The only way I can see this done through Outlook is to manually create a second appointment to return equipment at the end of the original meeting.  That is not practical and will not get done.
Can equipment return reminders be automated in SharePoint Foundation 2010?

    Hi ,
Yes, you can create a SharePoint
designer Workflow to send reminder based on the end time. Please refer the below blogs:

    gurus,
i've created a calendar in portal Release 2 version.
i want the name_link of the calendar to open in a new window ... how would i do this ... i tried couple of options for the name link -
    1. 'javascript:window.open(<link>)' the_name_link ==> did not work
    2. '<script>window.open(link)</script>' the name_link ==> did not work
is there any way to do this ...
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanx

If you have any html portlet on u're page include this first
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function show_calendar() {
    newWindow = window.open("http://test.com:7777/pls/portal/!PORTALREP.CAL_CORPORATE_EVENTS.show","Calendar", "menubar=0,toolbar=no,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=700,height=500");
    </SCRIPT>
then add the a url item or a customer item type and in the url call this javascript:show_calendar()
    hope so this should solve
