Calendar search wont't find events over 1 year old

Further, any search remove all events over one year old fom month view - but they are visible in list view!  I found that tapping "calendars>done" restores the events in month view.  My iMac works perfectly.  I am using iCloud.

I solved this by switching to Fantastical

  • Why does my Calendar delete events over a year old?

My calendar deletes all events more than a year old. I am running the latest version of Mountain Lion -- 10.8.3. All events on iCloud also delete after a year. I have an iMac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo and 4 GB of RAM. I've checked all my other devices, but there doesn't seem to be any settings to keep or delete data. Since I keep my appointments as a record, this has become a real problem, but I don't see any other questions like this in the Communities. Please help.

    Julie,
If I try to open the app, iCal, all that shows is a circle with a line through it, indicating it's not available or even there.
You will not be able to open older applications through the Time Machine interface.
Also, can I look in Time Machine for lost data? How do I do that? My library is hidden in my user folder, so I can't find it.
Calendar data is stored in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder. If you open the Finder>Go menu, and depress the "option" key, you will find an be able to open the hidden Library folder.
Restoring iCloud calendars from Time Machine, by Roger Wilmut describes the restoration process, but I do not recommend that you attempt this procedure unless you have proper backup, nor am I certain that it will work for restoring older entries.
Retaining older Calendar entries on iOS | iLounge Article, suggests that other user installed applications/services may interfere with the calendar retention selection.

  • IPad deleting single events over 30 days old

I just noticed tonight that my iPad has been deleting non-recurring events over 30 days old. I'm syncing over MobileMe, and all the old events remain there and in my Mac iCal calendars just fine, so the data is OK. However, syncing with MobileMe will not return the old events to my iPad's calendar.
I've tried turning off Calendars for MobileMe syncing in the Settings area, and then turning it back on to refresh/restore, but it still only brings in all old recurring events and non-recurring new events within the last 30 days.
When syncing with iTunes, there's an item in the Info tab area to force a push of the calendars on the Mac to the iPad, and an option to limit how far back you want the sync to grab the old data. I've tried that, and did successfully get the old data back onto my iPad, however, now I have multiple/multicolored Home calendars cluttering my iPad. I can selectively turn some off, but that doesn't resolve the issue, since it's a one-time event, and over the next 30 days new non-recurring events are going to be daily deleted. Additionally, since I merged the Home calendars when it asked me to decide what to do, I now have multiple Home calendars listed in iTunes which duplicates what gets copied every time if I choose to do this again. I can't find any way to clean up the iTunes bug, since it's clearly not just re-reading my iCal events, which remain OK.
Is anyone else observing this calendar behavior with their iPad? My iPhone 4's old data is all there, as it's supposed to be, so this issue may be resolved down the road with an iOS update for the iPad. I can't find any setting to assure my MobileMe syncing brings in all my old non-recurring events (which I need for on-the-go checks back on old events).
I guess I'm just looking for anyone else who can confirm their non-recurring events are disappearing after 30 days.
    Thanks for listening...

On your iPad, go to settings and then Mail, Contacts, Calendars and see what you have the sync option set for under calendars. You have different options to choose from, and I would think that yours is set for 1 month. To get rid of all the duplicate calendars on the iPad, just turn off mobile me syncing, which will delete all the calendars on the iPad, and then turn it back on and you should be good to go.

  • HT1688 I just noticed my calendars over a year old are erased! They used to be there. What happened? How can I get them back?

I just noticed all my calendars over a year old have been erased. They used to be there. How do I get them back?

Not sure if this will help, but if you are syncing your calendar with iCloud try going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Calendars section and tap Sync, then select All Events.

  • My apple wireless keyboard is just over a year old, but I find that delete ( backspace ) button no longer functions, has anyone else experienced this problem, do I need to have it looked at by an apple technician ?

My apple wireless keyboard is just over a year old, but Ifind the delete ( spacebar ) button does not function, does any one know if this is a common fault, do I need to have an apple technician to take a look at it?

It appears to be out of date so far as the warranty is concerned.  There may have been some minor detritus slipped down the side of the key.  See if you can find a buush with stiff but fine hair.   Perhaps a toothbrush.  Then brush around the key.   It is possible to remove the key if you are very careful and that would make it easier but you have to be very careful.   You are sure there hasn't been any liquid spilt; even the smallest amount can cause a drama..

  • Events over a year ago have dissapeared from my iPod

I just doscovered that items over a year old have dissapeared from my iPod touch.

You mean you have an appointment at an Apple store? If so, you don't need anything but the phone.

  • BIrthdays ignore those over 74 years old in iPhone

I noticed (and complained many times thru feedback) that in version 1.x of iPhone software when birthdays "properly" sync'd that no birthdays appearing in my iCal program over 74 years old appeared on my iPhone.
Now that I'm on iPhone version 2.0 and the birthdays calendar won't push to iPhone I tried in iCal an export then import to new Calendar file and it pushed to MobileMe which then pushed it to my iPhone and guess what ---- (Drum roll) ---- Birthdays over 74 STILL DON'T SHOW UP !!!!
I wonder if others are having this same observation. This means we have the potential of ignoring thru forgetfulness all our senior citizen friends and family birthdays!!! And this has been going on for me over a year. I spoke with AppleCare 9 months ago and when they concurred thru an on-the-spot test that they found the same thing (set up a fictitious person with a birthdate 75 or more years prior), they told me to submit FEEDBACK!!!
Can you imagine the AARP creating an article about iPhone AGISM???
If anyone finds this PLEASE also submit feedback because this so far appears to have been ignored.
    Michael

I imagine that Apple will fix it at some point.
Like everyone, Apple must prioritize. While this is irritating, it is certainly not at the top of the list. It seems to me that Apple has a pretty good history of updating/improving products.

  • I have a macbook pro, a little over 2 years old, have been advised I need a new hard drive....after 2 years!!!!

My macbook pro is just over 2 years old....for the last couple of months it has been running very slowly, the beachball is in permanent residence!
I have been advised I need a new hard drive....after only 2 years I'm not at all impressed. Is this normal?

Over a very large sample of drives, these drives are very reliable, despite being moved around inside laptops.
You do not have a very large sample, you have ONE drive. Anything that happens, from having it run for twenty years to having it die on the first day, is within the normal range.
The rapid resolution to your problem IS to replace the drive. At your leisure, you may find that after re-writing every block with Zeroes (a process that can take half a day and has no guarantee of success) enough spare blocks can be found to return the drive to service. Or maybe not. If you are willing to invest the time and energy to do this, you may get a nice backup drive, or you may get a doorstop. No one can predict ahead of time.

  • My iPhone 4s developed a WiiFi fault which it was not possible to resolve. The phone was just over 1 year old. I visited the Apple store to see a Genius.  The only assistance they were able to offer to me was to sell me a reconditioned phone.  Right?

My 1 year and 1 month old iPhone 4s developed a WiiFi fault which it was not possible to resolve.  I visited the Apple store in Brighton for the assistance of a Genius.  He too was unable to resolve the fault.  He said that as the phone was over a year old that there was nothing that he could do for me as the phone carries a 1 year warranty.  He offered to sell me a reconditioned iPhone 4s as a replacement.  This cost me a further £150.00.  I was/am still paying for the phone through my contract, the phone that I no longer have!
A work collegue had a similar fault with his iPhone, although his phone was older by approx 6 to 10 months.  He did what I did and visited the local Apple store to see a Genius and was straight away offered a brand new replacement phone for no additional payment.
Has anyone else had a similar experience and does anyone have any advice?  I am furious about this double standard of customer support! And I can not find a way to email to Apple directly for customer service advice!

Thank you for your advice.  If I lived closer to the store I would do just that.  By using the forum it was not my intention to breach any TOS.
I speak to collegues and people advise me to email to Apple.  They say that Apple always looks after its customers.  I only wish to find a way to email to Apple to see if there is anything that they can do for me.  I suspect not.
You regular forum users appear to me to be well versed Apple device  users and as such maybe you could point me in the right direction to be able to email to customer support as I can not find a link!

  • Will Apple replace my Ipod Touch 5g, Even if its over a year old?

I have an iPod touch 5g, which i bought in January of 2013. This iPod has been malfunctioning for a couple of days now. I connect it to a power source since it indicates its low on battery. When I do, it turns on, however, it will not charge much and the battery will continue to be red on the top right hand corner of the screen. I have an app which helps indicate around how much battery the iPod has. This app says that the iPod never charges past 15% and if i disconnect it, it shuts down. If the problem is in the battery, and it's a hardware problem, will Apple replace my iPod? Can they still do it? It is over a year old, but after all, i paid for a product that would last longer than a year and a half, didn't I?

You no longer have warranty coverage. Whatever Apple will do you will have to pay for it since it is out of warranty.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • My iphone 4s is over 2 years old and I need to replace the battery. How much will this cost at an Apple store?

I have an iphone 4s that is  over 2 years old. The phone's battery is no longer able to hold a  charge for an acceptable length of time.  Assuming I need to replace the battery, how much will this cost at an Apple store?

Basically, I'm new to Apple, despite using them before, but I've never actually owned my own.
Since buying this phone off a colleague at work, I seem to be having problems with it. First, I noticed how rubbish the battery life is, then my charger almost went up in flames and thirdly my camera lense is scratched beyond belief.
I know the phone isn't within warranty, although I was lead to believe it was before and during buying it, so basically I'm extremely disappointed with the general make up of iPhone's considering they cost such a **** of a lot of money, you'd think they'd be built to last.
Back to my main point, how much would it cost for a new battery? Or a new camera lense if anyone can help me with that? (I know that the back of the phone was refurbished just before my buying it, so literally just the camera lense)
    Thanks!
So basically it sounds like you bought an abused used iPhone and somehow that makes the phone subpar because dispite the abuse it should still last forever and look like new? Batteries don't last forever, even under ideal conditions, so your expectatoins are unrealistic. Take it in and have an estimate done.

  • My macbook pro is just over 3 years old now and off and on during this time the screen will just go all black.  Lately this blackout is lasting longer and I was wondering what is causing this.  I am afraid that this will not come back on in the future.

My MacBook pro is just over 3 years old now and the screen has totally blacked out for a few seconds at a time.  It will come back on in a few seconds with the exception this past month it has stayed black for a longer period of time like one minute.  It scares me to think that one of these times it won't come back on.  I have noticed it happens more often when I am using just the battery power.  Does anyone have any idea what causes this?  just to mention my battery was not low when this happens.

    jmckl,
if your MacBook Pro is a 15-inch Mid 2010 model (“MacBookPro6,2”), then it might be exhibiting the defect that is documented on this Apple Support page. If your black screen is due to this defect, then that page states that Apple will service this problem on this specific model of MacBook Pro gratis, for three years from the date of purchase. However, some commenters here have noted that sometimes the servicing is done gratis without having proof of the date of purchase. If you have an Apple Store near you, you might consider bringing your MacBook Pro there to have them check for the presence of this defect.
It is only the 15-inch Mid 2010 model that has this problem; no other model suffers from it.

  • I bought an iPad 2 2nd Generation new from Amazon August 2013.  It has no sound.  Apple support says it is over 5 years old.  What can I do?.

Apple Support states this iPad is over 5 years old and they can't advise me.  What do I do to get sound out of it?

I presume you mean that you purchased the iPad in August of 2012, since August 2013 hasn't arrived yet. The iPad 2 was only introduced in March of 2011 and is still sold by Apple, so it's most certainly not over five years old. Apple Support apparently and mistakenly thought you were talking about a 2nd-generation iPod touch. The iPad 2 is still eligible for support from Apple. You can confirm warranty here:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
Presuming you've checked the Sounds settings and turned up the volume button and tried multiple apps, try the earphones (or any set of headphones) and see if those work. If they do, the iPad may have a stuck contact in the headphone jack. Inserting and removing the headphones a couple of times may help.
If you get no sound even with headphones, try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try restoring from a backup and that doesn't fix the problem, try restoring to factory settings and synching your apps. You'll lose the app data and settings, but if the problem is due to a corrupt cache or settings file, that should cure it.
If none of that helps, make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple support again and make sure they understand that you're talking about an iPad.
    Regards.

  • Should I always let my iPad 3rd generation die and charge ? Takes almost close to 12 hours for a 100%  charge. Any suggestions ? iPad is over a year old

Do not let the battery drop to 0%. That is very damaging for a lithium based battery, as in the iPad. Charge at any time, for any amount.
