Calendar Server/Convergence Issues

Hi,
I recently managed to install Comm Suite 7 on Solaris x86_64 under a sparse zone; I'm really new to this.
Calendar Server (CALDAV) 7u1 (7.1-1.11)
Convergence 2 (2.0-0.06)
running glassfish 2.2.1 (open source edition)
Within convergence I have 2 issues:
- Users can't click the 'New Event' button under the calendar view. Nothing appears, however if you navigate away from the page the browser warns that there are x forms left open for the x amount I clicked the new event button. Log files are not really telling me much
This issue only occurs on the default user calendar. When users create a new calendar and click the new event button, it works as expected.
- Not all timezones are listed; I lack all the European ones although that are present in the timezoneids.txt file under the deployment
Anyone encountered this or could point our where to start looking? I've been poring over the massive documentation set on the wiki and following some troubleshooting guides but nothing really came out.

Update:
This issue seems to be really down to timezones; I moved the file aside and created a new one just containing the one I want (Europe/Paris).
After that I switched all timezones (column wcaptzid) in the DB table CalProp to Europe/Paris and the convergence calendar behaves 'normal'
Still would be very interested in finding out how to look further into this and if possible work with more timezones than Europe/Paris :)

  • ENS for Calendar Server strange issue when handling special characters

    The problem is basically that the ENS message isn't fully flushed to the stream when the generated event (an appointment creation for example) has special characters such as "ñ", "á","é". Maybe are encoded in more than one byte but it flushes the buffer using characters * character_size and character_size is not always 1.
    If I make a second appointment the buffer is flushed and I get the rest of the first notification and the new one.
    Perhaps it is a configuration case and I should configure ENS to support more languages.

    I've run the sample and it works fine.
    Perhaps it's not a bug but it's very strange the behaviour ens has with events with special characters. This is what I do step by step:
    1. I subscribe for all events and all the users
    2. I create and appointment with special characters
    3. I receive the event notification
    GAP/1.0 1b 3 1915 enp:///ics/caleventcreate?calid=[email protected]&uid=000000000000000000000000000000000b2c934cc04e0000140000001f130000&rid=0|ntfy|00000000
    The number 1915 should be the message length so I try to read 1915 bytes. However I can only read 1903 bytes. In this 1903 I have the full xml with the vcalendar.
    4. I create a second appointment
    5. The message I received is something like "\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0" which is 1915-1903
    6. I have to discard this message because it's invalid
    7. I receive the event notification
    I can fix my custom client and discard this "\0\0\0..." messages but It's a strange behaviour. Perhaps the protocol is as is but I thought it was a bug.

  • Convergence and Calendar Server 6.3

    Good Morning,
    We are in the process of looking at upgrading to Convergence 2.0. We are still running Calendar Server 6.3. From looking at the wiki page: https://wikis.oracle.com/display/CommSuite/Convergence+Patches+by+Release
    It appears that I can install Convergence 2 Patch 2 and still be compatible with Calendar Server 6.3. Is that correct?
    We need to get upgraded so that we have the support for newer versions of IE and to get our customization done before looking to upgrade to Calendar Server 7.

    I did installed the Calendar Server 7 and Sun Convergence 1 Update 3. But, reviewing the Convergence 1 Update 3 requirements this product can be integrated with Calendar Server 6.3 or higer but Calendar Server 7 doesn´t have support for this product (Convergence).
    There is an new version or patch for the Convergence Server that support Calendar Server 7?. If NOT please let know when the new release is going to be available?.
    In the case the answer is YES, please let me know where I can get it?

  • Old Netscape Calendar Server Issue

    Greetings All-
    We are still using Netscape Calendar Sever 4.0 on a Windows NT4 server. I have never been able to get the email notification function to work properly. The Calendar Server uses sendmail.exe to send the message to our email server but they never go through. Here is the error I see in the email server logs: Return-Path 'unison' rejected: a domain name must be specified
    It seems the Calendar Server is sending the message using 'unison' as the sender but it gets bounced because it isn't a fully qualified domain name. I've tried a couple different things without success...does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

    I appreciate your reply.
    As for an email server, we're running CommuniGate (in case anyone has heard of them) and I've talked with their tech people and there isn't a way that I can configure the mail system to accept the "unison" header without a @domain.com added to it.
    Our email domain info is set in the unison.ini file and unfortunately, the -f switch doesn't work with the version of sendmail that the Calendar Server software installed (dated 1999).
    The interesting thing about this whole deal is that we used to be using Calendar Server 3.5 and the email notification worked fine. I moved us over to version 4.0 because the old Calendar Server resided on an ancient Compaq server that was about to drop dead and I had to get the data off of that machine onto another server. You might ask why I didn't just install version 3.5 on the other server...well, that was installed a number of years ago and the person who took care of that apparently didn't keep the software. No one in the office could find it and one person thought it may have been downloaded from Netscape but not saved.
    So, I found version 4 of sale on eBay and got it for us. Version 4 is slightly different than 3.5 but not by much as far as I can tell. I've compared the ini files between the two and the differences are very slight - mainly smtp-based entries replaced unix-based ones. Other than that, I haven't been able to find anything drastically different.
    We have plans to move to Exchange in the future and will use it's calendaring features but in the meantime, I was interested in trying to find a solution to this issue.

    The installation complete but Calendar Server could not be started with start-cal command throwing a configuration error. I've searched on google and on this forum to find a solution but seems that no one has encountered a similar problem.   • Calendar Server and Email Server on Same Machine - Email Issue

    Hi.
    I've installed email and calendar on the same host. The email domain for test purposes is the name of the machine. I noticed in the configuration guide, it says that if you put the calendar server and email server on the same machine you need to configure sendmail.cf and modify incoming rules in order to get email reminders from Calendar to Email. I have done this but am still not able to. I get the emails kicked back to root and they say:
    553 5.3.5 System Config Errors
    553 5.3.5 <machine name> config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
    Has someone seen this before?

    We have the same problem as Matt.
    We have properly set up OCS Email it works well both inside and outside our network.
    The only thing that appears not to be working is the email notification capabilities of OCS Calendar.
    We have changed sendmail.cf as stated in the documentantion.
    we are using -
    RedHat Advanced Server 2.1,
    sendmail 8.11.6
    bind 9.1.3
    I would be very gratefull of any information on this, as we're out of ideas...

  • Invitations not being sent out on Calendar Server 6.3

    Issue:
    To our customers the calendars server appears to be fully operational and without error. However, when a customer creates a new event and invites other people to attend, no invites are sent out. The event creator, however, believes all is in order as no error messages appear and the list of invitees appears on the event. This was working recently. We have looked for things which have changed (e.g. disk space, size of files, corruption, recent patching, licenses expiring, etc) but have not yet found anything that has changed.

    We have run db_verify and csdb -v check on the databases. ics50deletelog.db did have corruption, so we fixed that by using db_dump and db_load to export then import the databases.
    We also purged the ics50deletelog.db database using cspurge afterwards when the dump and load didn't seem to have had an effect.
    We tried putting the log level up in the /opt/SUNWics5/cal/config/ics.conf , but didn't get any more details when restarting the service (through /etc/init.d/sunwics5 restart)

    Sounds like we talking about 'Event Invitations Notifications'. These are the notifications that gets sent when some one invite you to an event. Whether you receive the notification or not depends on your preference that is stored in ldap. This can be set using the Convergence by navigating through Options-> Calendar -> Notifcations (Check "Notify me via email of new invitations or invitation changes"). The actual ldap attributes that gets stored in user's entry is below.
    icsExtendedUserPrefs: ceNotifyEnable=1
    icsExtendedUserPrefs: ceNotifyEmail=[email protected]
    In the following cases, the user (attendee) will not get notifications even if the above preference is set.
    a> Creating an event with attendees in the past. CS6, by default, suppresses notifications for past events. You can enable notifications for past events by setting the config "ine.pastnotification.enable" to "yes" in ics.conf
    b> If the client creating the event requests server not to send notifications. (smtpNotify wcap param for storeevents.wcap). Outlook Connector uses this wcap param, so you won't get server notifications for the events invited using Outlook Connector. Outlook Connector sends it's own notifications directly.
    I think, you are looking for these kind of notifications. The process responsible for sending these notifications is "csadmind" on the Frontend. So, you need to check admin.log on the Frontend to see if it is sending notifications or not.

  • Calendar Server user can not receive external invites

    Hi,
    We have a MacPro running ML Server 10.8.5 with 10 user accounts using the calendar and file server services.
    Calendar server is where the issue is. We have 10 + users that are set up to send and receive external invites in calendar server without a problem. Recently, one of the user accounts stopped receiving external invites. The problem began not long after I set up a second account for the same user for their shared calendars (they requested this so all shared cals were not on their iOS devices). Although I used a separate email, it was an alias of the first so may have caused a conflict / problem (?). I got rid of the second account with no change to the first. 
    The account still receives invites from the other internal user accounts and the other services such as file sharing are unaffected. There are no other problems with the functionality of that user, in calendar or otherwise.
    I have tried changing the email associated with that user account and setting up a new test user account (in Server). The email invite will still not come through.
    I have changed it back to the way it was originally.
    Summary
    One of 10 user accounts does not receive external invites
    Was working until recently
    The account can send invites to external addresses
    Same email address will not work even when associated with a different account
    I have included a large section of the calendar error log from the part that references the email address (in red) attached to the user account in question. Apologies, I am not familiar with deciphering this information. That is why I've come here.

    Sorry, I should have mentioned, that it what my first thought so I tested by ensuring the email address associated with the user account (not hosted on the server but by Google Apps) is recieving all other mail.
    I have also tried:
    - Setting all accounts (calendar, email and contact card with associated email address) in another local user on a defferent Mac. So it's not a local user or Mail app issue.
    - Sending invites from different Calendar apps and email accounts - iCloud, Gmail (both using Apple Calendar and the web interface).
    That's why I came back around to thinking it must be calendar server related. However is there is absolutly no conntact with the server with incoming email invites I must be looking in the wrong place (and the wrong forum - sorry!).
    Does anyone have any ideas where I should be focusing my efforts?

    Setup a shared calendar between the Ovi web suite, and two devices, a C5 and an N8
    Day 1 - Syncing fine between web and phones
    Day 2 - Go into web page, now the calendar is shared with 0 others! Each phone also has a separate calendar. No configuration changes were made between days 1 and 2
    It seems this to be a major bug in the Ovi Calendar suite? Is the Calendar service now deprecated and shutting down? The Calendar web page looks and feels like it's not being actively updated and supported

  • Calendar Server Email Invitations

    I have Mavericks server set up solely for the calendar. My mail is hosted externally. I set up an [email protected] account on my external mail server specifically for the this calendar server to use. In the server app, I enabled "Enable invitations by email" in the Calendar service and entered the info for my external server.
    When I create an event and invite my internal users, everything works great. If I invite an external user, they never receive an email. I've tried with external mac.com and gmail.com addresses.
    The calendar error log on the server is showing the following. The firewall is off. Any ideas for further troubleshooting this issue?

    I went back and disabled SSL for the external email settings for the Calendar service, and it started sending mail. Not sure why that was an issue.

    asking to login to calendar server and address book server.Clicking "OK" allows install.
    In outlook i can send and receive mails but not the meeting requests.It gives the error "login to calendar server" when i create a meeting request.
    Please let me know what i have to do to get rid of the error.The username and passwd entered is correct.

    I would check through the outlook connector deployment configuration to verify that you have inserted valid information into all of the host & port fields - perhaps check the .ini file that is created to see if it has "Server" and "servername" listed.

    I can not connect iCal clients with Calendar Server 7. I tried every iteration of the components making up the principal URI as described in the documentation:
    Click the server options and type the principal URI, for example:
    http://example.com:3080/dav/principals/[email protected]/
    In this example, the default URI of / was used during initial configuration.
    The general format is:
    http://glassfish-host:glassfish-port/base-uri/principles/user-identifier/So my URI would be
    https://comms.mydomain.de/caldav/dav/principals/[email protected]
    since caldav was the URL I entered during initial configuration of Calendar Server. The client always says that there is no calendar server under this URL. Convergence 2 and Lightning work perfect. I could not find any hint in the log files. How can I start troubleshooting this problem?

    Is there a way to enter multiple groups? Guess I'll have to learn how to do multi input in a real custom form.The "MultiSelect" HTML Component works for me and I cant think of any other suitable component. Multiselectable List maybe. Fill the allowedValues property with a hardcoded list (*BAD*) or directly from a search on LDAP (_GOOD_) using IDM getResourceObjects FormUtil. You should find plenty of examples how to use it in the forum.
    One issue I noticed, I've verified the user was added to the group using an external ldap tool (JXplorer), however now that group has disappeared from the LDAP resource browser list view.(I personally prefer the good old [lbe LDAP Browser\Editor|http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~gawor/ldap/] or ldapadmin)
    That shouldn't happen... Verify the group is still there, the objectclass isnt changed by IDM (really shouldnt happen...) and make double sure nobody else screwed around with it. Groups of objectclass groupOfNames and groupOfUniqueNames (and posixGroup but that's a different schema mapping) are supported by default afaik.

  • How do I change the attachment size limit in Calendar Server 6.3, UWC, IWC?

    How do I properly increase or decrease the attachment size limit with Calendar Server and all supported user interfaces to it such as WCAP, UWC (Communications Express) and IWC (Convergence)? From my experience with the Outlook Connector, there seems to be some limit imposed by cshttpd on the size of a file upload (I believe I actually got an HTTP error code back on the wcap request indicating something was too big, sorry I don't have it handy, I'll have to re-test). Additionally, it seems UWC imposes additional limits (Example: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4440/6n6jfgcjh?l=en&a=view&q=fileSizeHardLimit) but I can't seem to get those to work at all. I found many different web.xml related to UWC and I'm not sure which one to change, I tried a couple but had no success because UWC would always report this error if I uploaded between 4-5 megs: com.iplanet.jato.util.WrapperRuntimeException
    Root cause = [java.io.IOException: Request cancelled because file input field
    "importFile" size is over the configurable limit of 4194304 bytes; see filter init
    parameter fileSizeHardLimit]
    And it would complain about requestSizeLimit I think if it was over 5 megs, claiming that limit was 5242880. IWC gives a generic error when the upload is too big and rejects it.
    I fear that a 4 meg limit will be too imposing and of limited value, so I would either like to raise it, or consider lowering it to 0 bytes so attachments cannot be used at all. I have been looking high and low for information on how to do this and all I can find is the UWC examples. I plan to support the Outlook Connector, UWC, and IWC so the limits should ideally be the same across each. Some of the Exchange data we wish to import does have some attachments so it would be good to continue support for that. I did see some other posts about quota RFEs but at this point I am not concerned about the disk consumption. Can anyone help? Thanks.
