Calendar Slow

I have a 3 Gen Nano which is having problems with the calendar. It syncs just fine, but it is very slow to open the calendar from the nano. Everything else works at full speed. I have tried restoring the nano, but no change. any suggestions?

Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Are you using any of the following services on the iPhone?
-Exchange
-Mobile Me
-Google Active Sync
If you are when you go to access these areas they communicate with the server that holds this information and updates it as it is refreshing. You should see a spinning gear by your cellular provider network when this is happening.
If you just synced this information via your computer to the iPhone this data should load instantly depending on the amount of contacts and calendar events. You may wish to try the following below.
iPod touch and iPhone: Turning on/off and resetting

Update iPhone Software if it needs updating

If you are using all the memory up on your iPhone you may wish to un-sync some applications, music, videos, etc. to provide more memory space.

  • Calendar slow/unresponsive after Mountain Lion update

I downloaded and installed OS X Mountain Lion when it came out but ever since the update the now called Calendar is so and unresponsive. For example, when I swipe or click to go to another week I get the "beach ball" and then it moves a couple of seconds later. Same with scrolling up and down. The problem goes away when turning off my iCloud calendars but then Calendar is useless to me without it.
    Any ideas?

I dragged this file onto my desktop from username/library/prefeerences:
    com.apple.iCal.plist
I also dragged these files onto my desktop from username/library/calendars:
    Email Cache.plist
    Calendar Cache
This worked for me. Thanks for the suggestion.
I shutdown iCal, logged off, and then moved the files. Then I did a complete re-boot before starting iCal again.
When I first restarted iCal it went thrrough the "Upgrading Calendars" process again.
Sorry it did not work for you.

  • Calendar slow to show events since Ical update

I updated to the new ICal a couple of days ago. Everything seems to have made the transition (21 years or so of data), but I've noticed that when I launch the calendar app on my phone, it comes up blank, and after a lifetime (probably 10-15 seconds, during which the phone is frozen), the events repopulate. It seems that it is syncing with the cloud each and everytime I launch the calendar. Shouldn't the data be there when I launch?

Another note: When in Airplane mode, the data shows up immediately. So, evidently the phone is checking with the cloud for the most recent data. Not a bad feature, if only it showed the old data in the meantime.

  • Calendar slow to push to my iPhone 4s

When I add a calendar appointment on any of the devices connected to iCloud, it quickly pushes to the calendar on all my devices except for my iPhone 4s.  The iPhone will eventually update, too, but usually after several hours (usually within 24 hours).  My iPhone is my primary calendar device (I always have it with me), so it would be nice if it would push just as quickly as the others.  Any suggestions?

Try going to Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars off, choose Delete from My iPhone (they will still be in iCloud), then after a 15 seconds or so turn Calendars on again.  See if that helps.

  • 3G iOS4 resulting in sluggish performance and horribly slow calendar

I "upgraded" my iPhone 3G using the restore method which in itself was trouble free.
However, the whole UI is now sluggish and even worse, the Calendar app is PAINFULLY stilted. My MobileMe calendars are visible, but the screen freezes, after a pause (5-10 seconds); the calendars disappear! Then after another pause (10 seconds or so), they reappear!
Generally, the whole phone feels laggy with button presses seemingly not responding and then the OS playing catchup.
Anyone else had Calendar slow-down/pauses happen?
    Greg

I am having the same issue. Subscribed calendars seem to be the major issue. I have 5 or 6 subscribed calendars that when I uncheck in the Calendar settings on the iphone to not show, the calendar app is much more responsive. Now when I open the Calendar the events show then reappear in a second or two but the app does not lock up as it did with subscribed calendars showing.

    Your doing fine.
The Pre is different from old Palm OS devices.  Old Palm OS only ever anticipated one database, and one data source.  In our "brave new world" data can come from many sources.  Palm's Synergy and Account Management is a great implementation that works very well once you understand it.
From your description it sounds like your Past Calendar was moved to the "Palm Profile" using the Data Transfer Assistant.  This is fine.  It's just that DTA is not really a sync tool, so future changes don't move back to the PC.
What you can do is establish a new Account with any one of a number of Outlook sync tools.  This will allow you to enter future appointments into an Account that synchronizes either to Google, or directly to your Outlook.  There is a setting in the Calendar that lets you define which Account is the "Default" so all your new entries will go there.  If you do this right, within a few months nearly all your schedule will be in the new tool, so you'll be back "in sync" with your PC.
My company, CompanionLink, has two tools that work in different ways to go from Pre to Outlook via USB, or from Google to Outlook via the internet.   Since you aren't familiar with Google, I'd suggest our direct USB Sync which goes directly from Outlook to Pre.
However, you've already started with our competitor's product.  It is a popular product that I know works well for many people.  The error you experience may simply be a connection issue unrelated to the data.  I'd suggest first that you simply contact their support to check it out.
At this point you have all your data.  You have an idea what has happened so far.  And I think the right pieces to define how you will get what you want in the future.  Technology change is sometimes not fun, but generally worthwhile.

  • Cannot sync Outlook 2007 Calendar with Alltel BB 8330

OK.....Seems like a lot of folks are having this problem. Here is what I've got
    Vista Home Basic SP1
Outlook 2007 (As a component of Office Enterprise 2007)
    BB8330 running OS 4.5.0.127
Configured with two email accounts-Default calendar/account is the same as the Outlook account. (I have Groupwise at work...this is not the default account/calendar)
    Blackberry DM 4.5
    Here's what I've tried....
Uninstalled and re-installed DM countless times
Installing latest version of DM (4.7)
Installing latest version of device OS (4.5?)
    Deleting Intellisync folder
    Sync only calendar
    Running DM as administrator
Deleted all BB calendar entries associated with the Groupwise Email account
Have run scanpst on Outlook and repaired file (it said there were some problems)
First synchronization worked great, the only thing I did between the first and second syncs were change some recurring calendar events and add two events to my calendar associated with the Groupwise account. I have since deleted those Groupwise events and that calendar shows no entries when i look under calendar-options.
Now i get the much discussed "Desktop Manager has stopped working" error when DM begins to process my Outlook calendar. It syncs contacts fine, reads and processes device calendar, then reads 631 Outlook calendar records, begins to process Outlook calendar records and stops immediately. I have to reboot to get DM to attempt to sync again. Here's the log from the Intellisync folder...

This is baffling. I have used a Palm TX for years and was excited about jumping into the BB world. I love the phone but I purchased it primarily for keeping track of my schedule. I am not impressed and have 26 days left on the trial. I hate to take it back to Alltel but its worthless unless I can easily and reliably sync the calendar. Anybody got any answers?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK...here's the update. I tried a few more tricks, too numerous to go into and NOTHING worked. I finally downlaoded and installed Companionlink Express and.....presto! I can sync again. 49.95 for the Companionlink software. You would think the BB folks could write (or purchase) a decent piece of software. I purchased the 8330 primarily to help me keep up with my calendar. When that didn't work, I had a $200 dollar cell phone. RIM almost got this one back! By the way, the website is www.companionlink.com.

  • Calendar Annoyances

I use Calendar regularly but 2 things really annoy me:
    1. When adding a new event and entering the location, Calendar slows right down trying to find the location I'm entering. As all these locations are very specific and local, it is never going to find the location. If there anyway I can turn off this annoyingly useless feature.
    2. When I want to create a new event, I double-click on the relevant date - as any long-time Mac user would. The new window always opens in the top left of the screen. I would prefer it to open either in the middle of the screen or where I moved the event wondow the last time. Is there a hack anywhere to set where this window opens?
    Thanks,
    Larry

I would suggest a reset of the iPhone before attaching to iTunes 10.1.
Reset being Home and Power/Sleep button held together for 10 secs or so until the Apple logo appears.
Wait till the phone is fully booted then connect and Restore under Summery/Version tab ( NOT as a new phone) and the update will come up.
Mine went from 3.2 to 4.1 in about 45 mins, not including reloading media.
It is noticeably faster and responsive for the most part. The calendar slowness that some have pointed out, I do see as well. I think I can wait the second.

  • IOS 7 Calendar and Slow Animations

Are the two biggest fail on iOS 7.
    Slow animations:
    -opening folders
    -locking phone
    -unlockng phone
    -closing folders
    -search bar
-swiping left and right has to be very accurate now because of the swipe down for search engine
    Calendar:
Why am I restricted to this view? I want to be able to view the entire calendar so I can see what's head and plan for it like the simplistic version of iOS 6 calendar. They completed blotched this calendar.

Agreed. The animations make me dizzy and hurt my eyes, also makes the iphone laggy and sluggish. The new Calendar app now is unusable for me, all of my shared calendars are overlapping each other and make it almost impossible to understand at a quick glance - please bring back the old month view and list view.

  • Very slow calendar sync with Outlook 2010 users.

    Hi guys.
My company is running Office 365 with hosted Exchange. Most clients are using Outlook 2010 and are reporting that when trying to access shared calendars, all operations are incredibly slow and can take up to a few minutes to show any calendar items. I'm one
of the only users on Outlook 2013 and the Outlook 2013 users don't seem to experience as much of an issue, but it is still there. Is there a way I can look into this to fix it?
Having the calendar shared all over again doesn't seem to fix. It's been suggested that I should run the O365 setup from OWA again - is there any ground to this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Please follow the troubleshooting steps below on this issue:
    1. Disable the firewall and anti-virus program to test again.
    2. We may suspect there’s a 3rd-party add-ins that may be the possible reason, let's run Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related.
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
    3. Go to File tab -> Account Settings ->
Account Settings -> Double clicking on the account name ->
More Settings -> Advanced tab ->
Download shared folders, tick or untick the checkbox to check the result.
    4. If the steps above don't help, simply create a new profile to setup the account:

  • Calendar on iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 still very slow to open

Since I went from iOS 3 to the terrible 4 also my iPhone 3G has been very slow.
The biggest problem however seems isolated: when I open the Calendar app, it takes a very long time for it to open. Initially it opens as quick as it used to, however then the screen goes blank with only the calendar header available. Then after what could be 10 to 20 seconds the app is functioning is again and the screen is filled with my calendar data. This happens every time I start the app.
I have just now updated to 4.1 to see if this issue is solved, but there has been no improvement here.
My Calendar is synced through MobileMe and I have 2 calendars. Before iOS 4 it worked perfectly well and smooth.
Am I the only one with this problem? If yes, could I solve it by a Recovery action and rebuild the iPhone?

Hi there! Same problem here. In April 2010 I bought my iPhone 3G with iOS 3.1.3 and I was enthusiast. Updating to iOS 4 I experienced poor performance of a sluggish phone with core apps working slowly. Updating to iOS 4.1 brought me back a responsive phone, but also the calendar issue. I've always used the List View and starting the app I realized that the list was empty. Quickly changing to Day/Month View and back to List View is a workaround I discovered by myself, but it's not what I expect from an Apple product. I've always synced my iPhone with my MacBook Pro 13" Mid-2009 shipped with Snow Leopard. Is anyone in Cupertino able to help people in this thread? Thanks in advance.

  • My calendar app is incredibly slow.  Any ideas why?

I use the app, Weekly Calendar, and when I use it, my iPod runs really, really slow.  Any ideas?

  • Outlook 2010/13 Laptop Calendar access extremely slow after opening shared calendar

I have a problem with several laptops running Win 7 Ultimate on a network running SBS 2008 (Exch 2007) when they are on the internal network. Outlook response is fine until they tick any shared calendar (either shared by the user or with full access
to the mailbox granted at the server level)- the response of the calendar screen for the
local users calendar  or the shared calendar
when using the advance or retreat arrows on the weeks drops down to roughly 20 seconds to advance to the next week, if the shared calendar is then unticked the speed stays slow for accessing the local calendar. if the user exits outlook and restarts
it the speed for accessing their own calendar returns to normal until they open another shared calendar.
this is a problem that has started within the last couple of months. SP are up to date on the windows and office.
I have tried ticking the download shared folders on and off, and also switching to using HTTP instead of TCPIP through the outlook anywhere. they run in cached mode as they are laptops- uncached is not an option
    network access is fine
The problem affects some users on the network but not others. the problem shows on office 2010 and 2013. they don't appear to have the problem when they are out of the office.
    Any thoughts anyone?

If you run your profile in Exchange cache mode and enable "Download share folders", please try to run SCANPST file to fix the OST/PST file and check the result.

By the way, does it for all shared calendr when you go to access them?
