Calendar suggestions

I am looking for a calendar that has a "Invitee" option. We switched to iPhones from Blackberrys a few months back and my biggest adjustment has been the calendar.
I used to be able to enter an event and the "invite" another person to it (basically sending them the option of adding this event to their calendar).
Is there a calendar for the iPhone that has this option?
Thanks in advance,
J

You know what another good idea would be? Being able to set reoccurring dates set by the first/second day of whatever month, every year, such as Thanksgiving or Mother's Day. With the way the calendar software is now, choosing the same day every year would make the date fall on a wrong day. For someone like myself who has to keep track of a bajillion dates every years, this is really annoying.

  • Calendar suggest for recurring items

Say you have a standing meeting every Tuesday and Thursday at 8AM. You enter all the detail on Tuesday, and then set it as a repeat, daily. Great for Tuesday. But what about Thursday. You have to reenter all the details all over again. Isn't the idea of this device to simplify our lives. Re-entering all the same data twice is a waste of our collective time.
    What should happen is this:
After you enter daily a drop down menu should pop up. It would least every day of the week and allow us to click the days on or off. Just a simple radio button. This would make the appoint repeat on just those days which are clicked on each week. Really simple. More importantly, really really useful.
Similarly if you have an appointment that repeats every 6 weeks, there is no way whatsoevr to enter this event to repeat. But you could if after selecting weekly, a drop down menu came up and asked if you wanted to repeat this item every 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks etc. IYou would simply type in a number to set the repeat intervale.
Please add these two simple items for those of us that use the calendar a lot.

  • Alternative Calendar suggestions

I love the UI of the native calendar app for iPad and IPod Touch, but my main qualm is with scheduling events. I would like to use it for planning classes and study times. For example I'd like to schedule "Math" for 3:30-4:30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays (like you can when setting alarms) and don't want to add this as a separate event recurring every week.
So my question is: Which app (free or paid) is best for scheduling the same events to repeat on certain days?
Any response is appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

I have no experience with any of these apps, but I have the AppStart app itself - which is free - and the app has a whole host of recommended apps for all sorts of uses and needs. These are the apps that they recommend. You can check these out if you like.

I recommend the AppStart app and it's also free sister app - Apps Gone Free. With the Apps Gone Free app you get a daily notification of the best (at least according to AppStart) apps that have just gone free.

  • My iPhone 4 suddenly lost all of my appointments on the calendar, any suggestions how to fix this?

MY iPhone 4 suddenly lost all my appointments on the calendar, suggestions on how to fix this?

HI, what exactly makes you think it's a Virus?
Where did you download them from?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Gmail and calendar..  sync vs on demand viewing..  calendar notification

I just picked up an iPhone 3G. I never used one before, and I'm definitely impressed.
One of the first things I tried, that was the new google mobile search app, and the sweet gmail and calendar access. http://www.google.com/mobile/apple/
I'm trying to decide if I should also setup my gmail and calendar to sync to the iphone mail and calendar apps... if that really adds much value.
The first issue that comes to mind is setting up calendar / appointment reminders. I chose the 200 text message 5 dollar SMS plan, so I'm thinking it would be a bad idea to have google's calendar texting my phone for each event reminder. Would be incredible if those notification found there way to the phone via the sweet 3G or edge or wifi data access... I remember apple saying they setup this incredible service to enable 3rd party apps to present that type of data without having background programs running, so I'm hoping google's calendar will be able to notify my iphone without the text messaging scheme soon.
anybody know if my notification wish is something anticipated? on the way? or am I being a bonehead, and I should be setting up some sort of synchronization to the apple calendar app?
the last bullet item here http://www.google.com/mobile/apple/calendar/
suggests it's already doable, but I'm guessing it's really only the text message scheme right now, and has to be "controlled" when logged in looking at the "non-mobile" version of the page.

    # Set up mobile phone notifications.
As for gmail, I have the same curiosity...sure I could sync via IMAP to the local mail app, but again, google's web based gmail interface seems to have it beat right now.. landscape larger keyboard view and all sorts of other goodies I'm sure.
and wouldn't all that IMAP syncing and pushing be more battery intensive than just using google's mobile interface through safari to view the my calendar and mail on demand?
Definitely need those notifications delivered though (possible google? I hope I hope?)

No, You can 'integrate' them with your phone if you want.
Here's the choice, do you want to use iCloud for your Contacts and Calendars (on your phone as well as everything else) instead of Gmail, yes or no
If yes then download a copy of SmoothSync for Contacts and Smooth Sync for Calendars from the 'Play' Store and setup your iCloud account on your Android phone.

  • I've just upgraded to IOS 7.0 on my iPhone 5 and the calendar is horrible!  I want to be able to see the who day at a glance not a few hours.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

What's happened to the calendar in IOS 7.0?  I would like to be able to see the whole day at a glance not just a few hours.  Any suggestions?

I know what it looks like and what it does.  I need to be able to see the whole day!  A few hours is not helpful for knowing whats ahead.  I don't want to scroll I just want to be able to look at a glance.  Does anyone have any helpful suggestions.

  • I am using the big date calendar template and when I submit it to apple for printing I lose the name of two months. These names are not text boxes. I see the names when I send it in but something happens during the transmission to apple. It was suggested

I am using the big date calendar template in iPhoto. I am on Lion 10.7.2, macbook air. The names of the months are on each calendar page but something happens when I send the data to Apple. The names are part of the template. They are not text boxes. I lose two names on the calendar after it is sent to Apple. Apple suggested I make a pdf file of my calendar before sending it in and check to make sure every name shows. I did this with a calendar I just sent in. The calendar was correct. All names of the months were showing. After sending the data two month names disappeard because when it arrived by mail, it was incorrect. Apple looked at my calendar via a pdf file and it was incorrect.  This is second time this has happened. I called Apple and they had me delete several folders in the Library folder, some preferences and do a complete reinstall of iPhoto.  I have not yet remade the defective calendar. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
    kathy

Control-click on the background of the view all pages window and select "Preview Calendar" from the contextual menu.
You can also save the pdf as a file to compare to the printed calendar.  If the two names are visible in the pdf file then the printed copy should show them.  Contact Apple for a refund.  Apple Print Products - Apple Store (U.S.)

in ical I just added new calendars to a pre-existing calendar group, I can make events with these calendars, but not reminders, any suggestions?

    Hi,
Lion has changed the way reminders (todos as was) work. They now seem to need to be in a seperate calendar.
In iCal open the File menu and select New Reminder List... and select where to put it.
    Best wishes

  • HT5621 I changed my apple ID on my laptop and I can no longer sync calendars from my iphone4s to the Macbook.  I went to settings and when I open iCloud account settings, my old apple id is grayed out and I can't tap it to change it.  Any suggestions??

I changed my apple ID on my Macbook  but I am unable to sync calendar from my iphone 4s.  When I go to settings in the phone, my old ID is there, but it is greyed out and I can't change it. I was able to change the app store ID, but the one in iCloud settings seems stuck.  Any suggestions??

You need to use the old ID and password to delete the iCloud account. After you delete the old account, you can sign in with the new ID in iCloud.
    Have you seen this.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796
    iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.

  • Have thunderbolt and need to sync ical with google calendar in order to use.  Any suggestions?

Have a thunderbolt and MacBook.  Need to sync ical with google calendar as thunderbolt supports google calendar.  Any suggestions?

I think we may be talking about two different things. Thunderbolt is the new two way display port on Mac Book Pros and Apple displays.
Thunderbolt (originally codenamed Light Peak) is an interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer via an expansion bus. Thunderbolt was developed by Intel and brought to market with technical collaboration from Apple Inc. It was introduced commercially on Apple's updated MacBook Pro lineup on February 24, 2011.
Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort into a serial data interface. A single Thunderbolt port supports hubs as well as a daisy chain of up to seven Thunderbolt devices; up to two of these devices may be high-resolution displays using DisplayPort. You can move data to and from peripherals up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and up to 12 times faster than with FireWire 800.

  • Upgraded my iPad to v 5.0.1 and can find no way to add an event to iCal.   There are no longer any " " signs and tapping on the calendar doesn't do anything except turn the page.  Any suggestions?  It worked fine before the upgrade.

iCal was working fine before upgrading to v. 5.0.1 on my iPad.  All the events from my iCloud account have disappeared and I cannot find a way to add a new event. No "+" sign, tapping doesn't work. I've tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions?

    Peggy,
Go to  iPad>Settings>iCloud, and turn Calendars "Off." Then after waiting a couple of minutes turn Calendars back "On."

  • How do I turn off or reject location suggestions in Calendar?

I usually place addresses into Calendar using the same format. Zip Code, Street Address (Name of Building or Campus) Room/Building Number. This allows me to quickly access the information I need to arrive in the right place at the right time (I am self-employed and travel to a number of different places in one day). I like being able to see all the location information I need in my notification center of my iPhone and iPad.
Calendar now reformats of any address it recognizes, even if I do not click on the suggestion, forcing me to add pertinent information to the notes section, something I can not see without opening the application.
I checked the Preferences for both Calendar and Maps and found no option for turning these suggestions off. I purposely turned off all Location Services on my MacBook. When that did not work I deleted the Maps application (believing that maybe the two applications where connected). These suggestions are still popping up and deleting what I enter.
I do not like or want these suggestions popping up or overriding the information I enter. Is it possible to turn them off or honestly ignore them? Maybe there is an [defaults write] I could use?

Happy to get suggestions.  But I'm finding Calendar is now basically refusing to let me key in my own address and is replacing it with the nearest suggestion (which could be completely out).  Seems to have got worse with recent update.  My workaround is to edit on my iPhone, which at least offers you a way to positively choose an entry that simply reflects what you actually typed.
Come on Apple this is deeply irritating....

  • I have just synced phone/ipad and PC and now have triple contacts and calendar events....Any suggestions?

I have just synced to iCloud with the new iOS 5 operating system and now all my calendar events and contacts have duplicated. Any suggestions?

I have already tried this but still the same. I have also tried un-pairing my speakers and re-pairing! Still get broken playback at times. This even happens when I am close to the bluetooth receiver.

Hi melbernai - not sure if you've solved this problem yet. I had the exact same problem recently with my 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I solved it yesterday by simply updating iTunes to the most recent version, after which I could get rid of the register screen. The only other thing I needed to do to add my custom playlists was select "Manually manage music" on the screen for my iPod, since it had been in an automatic synching mode since the problem occurred.
