Calendar Syncing (MobileMe *AND* Sync iCal)

I normally sync my calendar through MobileMe. I 'accidentally' turned on 'sync iCal calendars' in the iPhone info tab on iTunes (v9). This duplicated all my appointments. I have turned it off in iTunes but the duplicate calendar remains on my iPhone. Is there a way to delete the 'On My iPhone' calendar?

I copy pasted from this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10418025&#10418025
"I figured it out. Basically you want to turn off your calendars on your iphone, inside settings, inside mail, calendars, email, and from there it's found by clicking on your me or mac.com mail account. Sync. Then turn it back on. It will ask you if you want to merge. You do. Then your extra calendars should disappear."
I had the same problem as you have (had) the method above did work for me.
Cheers,
Ivan

  • Consolidating E-Mail, Contacts & Calendars with MobileMe and Exchange

OK, now that I have upgraded the software on my iPhone and made my ActiveSync connection to Exchange, I am a little confused. My e-mail is syncing between my office Exchange account and my iPhone, but I need to consolidate the Contacts and Calendars. BTW, I also have a MobileMe account.
When I try to turn on syncing for Contacts and Calendars, I am told that my previous Contacts and Calendars will be deleted. Seems like I don't want to do this. When I look at my e-mail, I can choose to look at either my Mobile Me or my Exchange e-mail. Will I get the same effect with my Contacts and Calendars? Or will they all be consolidated into one? If it's the latter, how can I protect the hundreds of contacts and appointments I already had in my phone before I got to do any of this ActiveSync-ing with Exchange?
Not sure if that's clear... let me restate... What I need is one set of Contacts and Calendars. If I can't consolidate the Exchange and my current iPhone content into one, it's OK. But if I have to consolidate them, what can I do to protect the items I already have in my iPhone?
I'm just not getting the concept here....
Also, I had a dotMac account that is now a MobileMe account. Now my iPhone shows that I have three e-mail addresses (dotMac, MobileMe and Exchange). Can I delete the dotMac account or should I just leave them all in my phone?
    Thanks for any help!!

    Anil,
Thanks for the information. We do have an OSS message open on this and they have as of yet not recommended any patches. I have also done a search and found nothing. Do you know how I can find that patch or perhaps the OSS note number? We will also update our OSS message.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Synced ical with mobileme, now can't edit calendar

Hi, I synced ical through mobileme thinking mobileme would serve as a "backup" for my ical. I use ical on my macbook and don't check the mobileme calendar.
but now i can't write on my ical when it is open on my macbook.
how can i change the settings so that i can use ical on my macbook and have it backed up on mobileme?
if this is impossible please tell me how to restore the original settings and get my ical off mobileme.

Hello Doxiechick and welcome to the Palm forums.
Are you sure you are syncing with Microsoft Outlook and not a Microsoft Exhcange server or some other corporate email system?  If you are syncing a Palm OS device, like the Centro, to Microsoft Outlook, the default database files don't get deleted.  My guess is that there is something else going on here, especially if you have contacts on your Centro.

  • Mobileme and ical not syncing

Mobileme is broken and not opening ical when I am signed in.  mac and iphone and macbook can't sync ical with each other.  the round disc just runs and runs until it times out with error message.  This is on discussion boards and wide spread.  When will it be fixed.
I want to wait until more kinks get worked out before going to icloud and you said ical would continue to work.
    please update.

iCal issue - Where are they hiding?
Posting here as this is the closest I can find to my issue..
Two, maybe more, Birthday Events appear on my iPhone but not on/in iCal on my macbook.
Tried clearing the iphone and resyncing. Same condition.
Tried removing the cache from iCal and resyncing using the replace calendar option in iTunes. Still no good. Have checked the the full listing of all events on iCal.
Where can these two events be hiding ? Not a huge deal, but now really curious.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

  • Sync MobileMe and iPhone to iCal?

Is it possible to have the iPhone and MobileMe only sync some of the calendars you have saved within iCal software, but not sync all of the calendars?

Sorry, I re-read this and realized that my explanation of the problem may not have been clear. (I need to get more sleep)
When I add a new event into iCal on my Mac it shows up at 1:45pm EST. When the event syncs via MobileMe it shows up as 6:45pm (18:45) on my iPhone and in MobileMe online. How can I get the events to shows up at the correct time (1:45pm) on my iPhone and online?
    Thanks

  • Sync iCal with latest version of MobileMe Calendar

I am having an issue syncing ical (v 4.0.4) with the latest version of MobileMe Calendar (recently updated MM calendar).
I did have a MM caldav acct set up in iCal and deleted that due to a recommendation from a previous post. This didnt fix the issue.
So, i recreated the MM acct in iCal (caldav), I have reset the iSync services, i deleted my computer in sys preferences > MM > advanced and added it back to start a fresh sync to MM..... all to no avail.
Ultimately what i am trying to accomplish is to sync data in iCal that was populated from syncing with Outlook for MAC 2011 (which worked well). Now i just want to get this data in iCal into MM.
    Thank you!

I am having same problem...will pass on the fix when I find it

  • Syncing iCal+Google Calendar+MobileMe: Please Help

I set up the syncing through CalDav but in iCal it creates a new calendar (which is the Google Calendar). Would I have to delete my original calendar called "Home" and just make the Google Calendar (in iCal) my main calendar? Does it do a good job of syncing both ways? Also, if I do this, does it also sync through MobileMe?
    Thanks

I have the same issue.I have been using Google Cal for a while and we sync all family stuff on it. Now that I moved to an iPhone, I got it to sync easily to the phone's Calendar app which is virtually the iCal from the MacBook. I have been trying to get my MobileMe account to sync with the calendar from the phone and it will not. I spent about 1 1/2 hours with Apple's chat service last night trying to sort it out. It doesn't work. All the right toggles and buttons are at the right sport but MobileMe simply won't communicate with the phone's calendar. The Apple guy wonders if it's because it's a 3way sync instead of the same (iCal) syncing in different areas.
Did you get any other tips?

  • I am trying to setup iCal syncing with Mobile Me on Mac Pro and Mac Pro Notebook.  I have accounts added in for MobileMe and Gmail.  Problem is that iCal does not appear as one of the Sync choices in the MobileMe sync window on either computer?

I am trying to sync iCal with all my computers and devices via MobileMe.  I cannot sync iCal on my Mac Pro nor Mackbook Pro.  I believe accounts to be setup properly BUT on both computers there is NO choice to select iCal among the choices in "Sync Menu" on the MobileMe window in System Preferences.  Help?

    Greetings,
If you delete individual messages they will be deleted from other accounts.
If you setup the accounts as IMAP (which is the default for MobileMe accounts) you can remove the accounts and the other users will still have the email.
Alternatively if you don't want to see the account in the other user go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > MobileMe account > Advanced > remove the check mark for "enable account".  This leaves the account and just turns it off so you don't see it  and it doesn't send / receive messages.
Finally,  you should be backing up your data for safekeeping so even if you did delete the account and the messages magically vanished you could restore them: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
    Hope that helps.

  • Have thunderbolt and need to sync ical with google calendar in order to use.  Any suggestions?

Have a thunderbolt and MacBook.  Need to sync ical with google calendar as thunderbolt supports google calendar.  Any suggestions?

I think we may be talking about two different things. Thunderbolt is the new two way display port on Mac Book Pros and Apple displays.
Thunderbolt (originally codenamed Light Peak) is an interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer via an expansion bus. Thunderbolt was developed by Intel and brought to market with technical collaboration from Apple Inc. It was introduced commercially on Apple's updated MacBook Pro lineup on February 24, 2011.
Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort into a serial data interface. A single Thunderbolt port supports hubs as well as a daisy chain of up to seven Thunderbolt devices; up to two of these devices may be high-resolution displays using DisplayPort. You can move data to and from peripherals up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and up to 12 times faster than with FireWire 800.

I was easy to manage it on my iPhone (I just add a new "exchange" mail account and ask for a calendar sync only) and it worked very quickly.
But I cannot do it with the iMac, and I don't undersatnd why?
the domain is is used for my iPhone is the following :
    owa.companyname.com
I tried all the solutions I found in this forum but it doesn't work.
Many thanks in advancefor your help.

Does it have to be an applet?
If you want the same behaviour as in the code with traffic lights, change
    class MortgageApplet extends JApplet implements ActionListener {
    to
    class MortgageApplet extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
    and change
    public void init() {
    to
    public MortgageApplet() {

I recently installed a new hard drive in a MacBook 2007 and then 10.6.3. I'd like to be able to Sync iCal to the calendars I have created on other devices (new iCloud account and an ME account). I can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 because the MacBook is 32 bit. Just looking for a workaround as this is not a primary device.

You should update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 - you can download it here; however it's still not compatible with iCloud and though you can connect to access your email you cannot access any other of iCloud's facilities.
However some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. I've not tried it: use at your own discretion.
    To access the email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Are you sure you can't upgrade to Lion? It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you may well have, though it also needs 2GB RAM so you might need to add additional RAM (might not be worth it for what you want). The published specs don't mention 32 or 64 bit. You can buy Lion by ringing the Apple Store at the number at bottom left of this page.

  • Sync iCal - iPhone - Exchange 2007 broken after MobileMe Calendar upgrade

I need to keep contacts and calendars in sync between my work pc (XP, Outlook 2003, Exchange Server 2010), my home Mac (10.6.6) and my iPhone (3GS, iOS 4.3). Until recently, that worked fine by the following (roundabout) way: PC syncs with Plaxo online via Outlook add-in; Plaxo syncs with Mac; Mac syncs with MobileMe; MobileMe syncs with iPhone. However, the recent upgrade to new MobileMe calendar breaks this workflow, at least for calendar syncing, because Plaxo cannot synchronise with the new CalDAV cloud-hosted calendars. Can anyone suggest another way of getting this to work?
I thought MobileMe for PC might be a solution, but while it can show MobileMe calendars in Outlook, it can't synchronize them (and it seems not to work with Windows XP). A while back, I tried using Google Calendar as the focal point, but found Google Calendar Sync for Windows created a lot of duplicate items, lost items and general mess.
PS The office network doesn't run Exchange ActiveSync and does not allow a vpn connection from Mac or iPhone.

    Hi JWilson@ch,
So I thought I was the only person doing that crazy workflow to get everything synced. I do it exactly the same way.
I stupidly upgraded to the new MobileMe last year when first invited, and spent the next few days working out how to get it all back and working. I have been happily syncing everything the old way since then.
My major concern now is that I just received an email from MobileMe today saying I have to upgrade now as they have stopped syncing the old calendar! I haven't checked this yet (I will in a sec), but if I have to upgrade, that means I lose everything that has worked so well since MobileMe started.
My crappy work Blackberry is useless for mirroring my Outlook calendar, so syncing my work onto the much more user friendly iPhone had been a saviour. Now I have all of my work and personal appointments in the same place, and I never miss anything.
What to do now? Is there another way to get my PC calendar onto my iPhone, apart from the Exchange Activesync option which my office also doesn't support.
I'll hold out as long as I can...
    Garry

This has worked fine with MobileMe with only a couple of minor glitches in the past.
Any experience doing this the "right" way?
