Calendar time of day

When I create a new event in Calendar I want the text to start with the time e.g. 10.30 am Doctor
However if I type this it automatically assigns the event to 10.30am and deletes the 10.30 am I have typed.
Is there a way to stop this happening? (apart from typing 10.30 twice)

Not quite what you want, but if I type it as '1030a Doctor' it seems to work.

    This feature is new in Lion. I get what Apple is doing but I don't view the calendar in day mode. I use iCal exclusively in Month mode. Therefore, if I add an entry like "10:00am doctor's appt.," iCal will (correctly) assume the obvious, and enter the event as "doctor's appt." at the 10:00 am slot in the daily view. The trouble is, I don't look at the daily view, and I have missed a few appointments because I didn't realize what was going on.
    My best work-around right now is to use a semi-colon for the time. That way, iCal won't automatically assume I'm talking about a time of day. For example, I now write "10;00am doctor's appt." This way, iCal puts in on the monthly calendar exactly the way I wrote it, like it was doing in Snow Leopard.
    Is there a more elegant solution than using semi-colons for the time to counteract iCal's insistence on entering the time automatically into the daily view?

    Perhaps users in the iCal forum know of a solution?

  • How can I print a month calendar without the times of day from the day calendar

    The obvious way to put items into iCal is via the day calendar. But I want to print the calendar as one month to a page and there I do not want the times of day.

    It seems like a simple solution must be at hand. There is an option in the iCal Preferences (General) panel--Show event times. With this command unchecked the screen view of the month view is free of the times of day, but when I print the month view the times of day are printed.

    Basically what I am doing is an alarm clock, to wake me up to some MP3s. It all works fine.

  • How do I display more than one month calendar in the day-view?

    iCal has always had a nice feature that allowed me to display little, what I call, mini-month calendars while in the day-view.  This allowed me to quickly jump to a day two or three (or more) months ahead (or behind) to check appointments on that day or set an appointment, without switching out of the day-view.
    The mini-month was a small clickable calendar that looked something like this:

    15 16 17 18 19 20 21
    22 23 24 25 26 27 28
    There was also a forward and backward arrow box [ < ][ > ] that allowed me to quickly scroll to the mini-month to find the day I wanted to click into.  And, if I wanted to give it more room by adjusting the frame, I could display up to three months at a time within my day view.
    Since upgrading iCal to 5.0 with the Lion upgrade, I can no longer display more than the current mini-month calendar on the day view.
    This is REALLY inconvenient.  Now, there is no way (that I know of) for me to stay in the day view and be able to jump ahead to a specific day two or three months out, or even to a day in the NEXT month without either going to the year view (a big waste of time) or click on the last day of the current month and then clicking the ">" day arrow to get to the next day which then shows that month's mini-calendar.
    How do I display more than the current month's mini-month calendar in the day view on Lion?

    Unfortunately you can't do what you want. Many people have complained to Apple about this. I suggest you provide Apple feedback directly at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html. They will not provide a direct response but hopefully if enough people provide feedback Apple will fix this.

  • How do you change the time of day presets in ical?

    How do you change the time of day presets in ical?  I would like them to be only 1 hour difference, with the preset start times of 10:00 am and end time of 6:00 pm, if I have anything starting after 4:00 pm it also changes the date to the next day.  Incredibly annoying!

  • Calendar Time Issue

    I'm having a problem with viewing appointments in my calendar, and since I live in Saskatchewan we don't change our time, and the rest of the phone, including the main time on the phone are correct.
    My issue is the "day view" shows everything an hour ahead, including the red line listing 4:18 PM, it's only 3:18 PM.
    Also every appointment is listed an hour ahead, had one this morning at 8 AM and it shows 9 AM in the day view.
    Even more confusing is when I click and open that calendar item, it shows the correct start time of 8 AM.
    Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    This is very annoying to say the least, especially with all appointments now being one hour ahead in the day view on the calendar...
    My time zones settings are correct in the System Settings/Date and Time it is set to Saskatchewan (-6).

    By changing my time display to 24 hours, under Settings/Date and Time and then moving the slider to ON for 24-Hour TIME, the calendar time view issues have disappeared.
    Unfortunately the text messages are still out by an hour when viewing them individually.  The time is correct on the main page when "conversations" are listed and the most recent text message is displayed, but going into each conversation each text message there displays an hour later than it should.
    Hopefully this is something that BlackBerry is working on for the next update to the z10 software.

  • I get this same Sync error over 15 times a day

    "Syncing with .Mac will change more than 5% of your Mail accounts on this computer."
    I have 3 Macs. All use 10.4.9 with Mail Preferences set to identical settings on all 3 machines. I have a primary .Mac email address and one .Mac alias address.
    I receive the above error message on all 3 machines a minimum 15 times a day each.
    How do I fix this? Thank you Kindly.

    Hi Nancy, sorry it took me so long to notice your post.
    Is the information on one of your computers most complete, the most accurate? If so, your options are fairly easy.
    First BACK UP your data, Address Book allows you to make a backup from the FILE menu.
    Then proceed on the MASTER computer...
    1. Using Disk Utility in Utilities folder, REPAIR disk permissions
    2. Go to Blue Apple>System Preferences>.Mac and select the ADVANCED panel
    3. UNREGISTER each machine, this can also be done at each individual machine
    4. Be patient while the server responds
    5. After all are unregistered, go to the SYNC panel tick the services you wish to sync. (Address Book, Calendar, etc.)
    6. Again, in the ADVANCED panel, REGISTER this computer (the master)
    and tell it to RESET the data from the MASTER computer to .MAC
    7. Double check the chosen SOURCE and DESTINATION before you reset data
    8. Proceed and be patient -- it may take a while depending on the amount of data
    9. When it finishes syncing, REREGISTER the other computers and check the services to be synced. You can also set limits in the iSync application as to how much data can be changed at a time -- to save major catastrophies.
    10. Lastly, on each computer choose to RESET the data using the data you just burped up to .Mac. That way everything conforms to the master.
    That way -- everyone starts from a common point and can move forward.
    Be sure that services are the same on each machine and that you REPAIR
    PERMISSIONS on each machine.

  • N8 calendar times change when in new time zone

    How do you stop the calendar times changing when you enter a new time zone? This is very frustrating, particularly when the calendar contains flight times etc which you have entered in the local time zone of place of departure. Then when you move into that time zone it automatically changes every calendar entry! Annoying! I realise I can deselect automatic time zones, but then I'm guessing when I do change the time zone manually to where I am (so that it shows the time of day, and I can set an alarm to wake me up, etc!!!) then the same thing will happen - all my calendar entries will change. Hope someone has worked it out already.

    the times are stored on the phone in absolute time, lets call it gmt. they are then displayed on your handset in local time.
    the times aren't actually changing as you change time zones. they are very much staying the same.
    to achieve what you re after you are just going to have to enter the times in one of the text fields.
    There's no dignity in begging for kudos. Do it for the karma.

    Please go to SCAL and then Public Holidays and then change and then inside the screen select the public holidays that have been wrongly assigned and then click on change now ur public holidays class and rest details comes up so change as per ur requirement.

  • APIs Flags on UCCX9 for time of day

    I was discussing UCCX and our upgrades to V9 for a few of our customers with a Voice CCIE at an event a few days ago, and was explaining that  our customers found the configured time of day and holidays  in scripts was very restricting. They want the ability to upload holidays and early close the call centre via a Web interface. I advised that was looking into doing this via a SQL server running a stored procedure fired from a script; however this would not be possible with our clients on the enhanced license.
    The CCIE mentioned that in UCCX v9 we can use APIs to set flags and reference these in scripts. I have has a trawl of the Web but cannot find any reference to this. Can someone point me in the right direction where I can find :-
    a) How to reference these flags in scripts – I am more than happy to write the script logic
    b) Info to pass to our Developer on how to integrate with APIs to set these flags.

    Hi, first thing first, you should see this post, which lays out for you how to integrate UCCX Enhanced with an external DB via a "man in the middle" web server.

    Long story short, tell your developer to build a URL for accessing calendar and business hours logic in various formats: XML, JSON, HTML, etc.  You'll use XML, but asking them for more opens your options down the road.
    Next up, the API's.  These are pretty new to UCCX, with v9.0 bringing the first round of access and then v10 coming in behind with even more access.
    Normally, when I don't know the answer to a question on the forums, I go research it, and sometimes proof of concept it, and then post my findings.  However, the developer.cisco.com site has a revoked certificate at the moment and I cannot get to the API docs for UCCX.  Or says the proxy im going through anyway.
    I've managed to get my hands on the documentation, unfortunately I don't have UCCX 9 or 10 to try this out on so look at this more of a point in the right direction.
    The API you're CCIE was referring to is most likely the application API within System Configuration grouping of APIs.  It has five or so methods, one of them is an HTTP PUT to modify the application of your choice.

    To conclude this much longer than anticipated reply, a few things I do not know about how this works:
    How do you disable the use of a parameter such that the script default value takes effect?
    How do you set multiple parameters at once without sending multiple API PUT requests?
    It might just be:

    Do you have to send all of the existing parameters, as to not inadvertinly disable them?  And if so, how do you get a list of them?  Perhaps from the Get Application method, but I don't see that sepcified anywhere.
    EDIT: I do see that there is a query parameter for the GET operation of an application named detail which can have a value of full.  I'd need to test it though.

  • Does the SNP optimizer takes into account transportation calendars (time streams)?

    We're trying to limit the days when a transportation lane can be used by including a transportation calendar(time stream) to the means of transport. The receipt days on certain locations, depend on the source-target location relationship so we don't want to do this through shipping/Receipt calendars at the location Level (/SAPAPO/LOC3).
    Example:
    Source A - Target X     Receipt days ( Monday-Tuesday)
    Source A - Target Y     Receipt days (Friday-Sunday)
    Source B - Target X     Receipt days ( Monday-Wednesday)
    Source B - Target Y     Receipt days (Thursday-Friday-Saturday)    
    We've tried this in an heuristic scenario, and it works. But when we run the optimizer, it doesn't seems to take into account the transportation calendars; it just creates distribution orders every day depending on the demand at the target location.
    Does anyone knows if the optimizer run should consider transportation calendars, or this functionality is only for heuristics and/or CTM?
    Is there another recommended way to model it?

    As you said, the calendar of the transportation resource overrules the transportation calendar (time stream)
    I tested after removing the transportation resourced and it now uses the transportation calendar.
    However, if a transportation lane has a lead time greater than 24 hours, we need that the system only ships on a specific day from the location source and receives the goods on the next day at the target location.
    For this example,
    Source A -  Target B;  Lead time (48 hours)
    Shipping is allowed on Monday – Receipts should be on Thursday
    if we set Monday through Thursday as working days or periods in any of both types of calendars (resource or time stream) at the means of transport, the system will plan shipments every day from Monday to Thursday, instead of only shipping on Mondays.
    Do you know if its possible to have the behavior mentioned above (shipments on Mondays, receipts on Thursdays)?

  • ICal Time of Day Blank in 10.5

    Since I have loaded Leopard, the times of day will not come up in any iCal calendar, and nothing I can find in the menus let's me change it. It is defaulted to "all day" and won't budge. Entering events is like typing text with no screen. Suggestions?

    There are three iCal related plist files (at least on my computer) for each user. They are located in ~/Library/Preferences:
    com.apple.iCal.plist
    com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    To determine if these plist files are causing the problem don't delete them, but simply move them to a convenient location (e.g. Desktop). Quit iCal before you do this. Then reopen iCal and see if the times are back. If yes then you know the plist(s) was the source of your problem. If not then I suppose you can move the plists back.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Close iPhoto, dDelete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, relaunch iPhoto and see if there's any improvement. Also repair disk permission with Disk Utility.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.
