Calendar upgrade 6.3 to 7

Hi guys,
I have Calendar Server 6.3 installed as part of the Sun Comm-Suite-6 update 2
do you know if I can upgrade only the calendar server from 6.3 to 7 without upgrading the other components like (app server, directory server, Convergence etc...) ?
thanks a lot
CA

The two products are completely different (despite the name) and to move from 6.3 to 7 will require a migration of data.
There are no migration tools available at this time.

  • New Time Zone Issue with MobileMe Calendar Upgrade

I'm having strange things happen with sending/receiving "invitations" to people in other time zones.
Prior to this MobileMe calendar upgrade, sending/receiving invitations worked fine. I would schedule an event (obviously in my time zone), and if I invite a friend in a different time zone, the event would show up on her Google Calendar at the proper time. Between iCal and Google Calendar, the time zone translation was working properly. Likewise, when she scheduled an event and sent me an invitation, the event showed up in iCal at the proper time for me.
But now, after simply upgrading MobileMe calendar, events from me to her show up at the wrong time! It's as if the time zone translation is no longer occurring. Oddly, events that she sends to me still work correctly.
I have "Turn on time zone support" enabled in iCal, MobileMe calendar, and on the iPhone.
So this very nice feature that was working previously seems to have broken with the MobileMe calendar upgrade.
Has anyone else seen this, or (hopefully) solved it?
    Thanks!
    Jim

  • MobileMe "New Calendar" upgrade by Microsoft...??

Am I missing something? Was the new mobileMe calendar upgrade designed by Microsoft instead of by Apple? Things are supposed to get better with Apple, not worse as with Microsoft.
iCal before the new calendar upgrade - Organizer sends me new iCal event. Message appears in my iCal notifications. I click on "Accept". Done, perfect, Apple-way.
iCal after new calendar upgrade - Organizer sends me new iCal event. Message does not appear in iCal notifications. I receive a new email with invite. The email has all broken images (ugly). I click on "Load Images". Images load. Now I see a "Accept" button. Clicking on it actually opens Safari. I wait for Safari to open and for page to load. Now I see a link where I can download an .ics file with the calendar event. I download file. I then have to find the correct .ics file among all the other files I downloaded. I double-click on .ics file to store event in calendar. I have to switch back to finder to delete stray downloaded .ics file.
???? Am I missing something? Is this dumb and absurd? Only Microsoft could have come up with such a loss of functionality, loss of practicality, loss of smoothness of streamlining, loss of simple GUI, loss of... my mind.

PS - I confirmed with a tech support chat that this unbelievable behavior is actually by design - ExpressLane Case 195850002

Agree 100%...the new MobileMe Calendar "upgrade" is a huge step backward in most respects.
Just spent the last hour trying to help my wife figure out how to undo the damage. In my opinion, the most obnoxious behavior of the new "upgrade" is that it completely commandeers all of your calendars, so instead of being able to send business meeting invites from my business email account and personal invites from my me.com account, all new meetings are now sent from the me.com account.
Even that behavior could be acceptable if there was an easy way to change the name of my me.com address to something more "business appropriate", but of course that is another me.com failure...

My MobleMe calendar upgrade does not recognize that OS X6.3 has been installed and sees the old OS. What to do?

    visard229,
Numerous Apple support articles state that "Mac OS X v10.6.4 Snow Leopard is recommended for all users."
Why do you think that 10.6.3 will work with the MobileMe calendar?

  • Error messages after new MobileMe Calendar upgrade. Solved?

Quick rundown of what I've been through and how I have solved my problem.
I have a MacBook running 10.5.6 and I also have Bento 3. Recently Bento (Filemaker) told me that I would have to complete a few steps before upgrading to the new MobileMe calendar. So I followed the steps exactly. (URL: http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7846/~/setting-up-bento-for-th e-new-mobileme-calendar)
After completing the steps. I proceeded to upgrade to the new calendar. Upgraded in less than a minute and then after opening up iCal on my mac & importing my calendars, thats when things started to go wrong. I kept getting error messages on almost every even I have ever created. I could barely even quit iCal due to all the error messages. Also, many of my events werent there after importing and the progress wheel kept spinning. Complete DISASTER! (*Luckily, I made plenty of backups before doing any of this so I was safe*) But Still I had NO iCal!
I searched and searched and could not find a complete solution. So what I did was the following and so far I believe it could be the solution to all of you guys's problems.
I followed these instructions on this website (URL: http://answers.makeitwork.com/how-to-reset-ical-on-your-mac-or-how-to-clean-up-y our-ical/) **I followed these exactly**
    They are below:
+Export any Calendars you wish to retain after you reset by clicking on the Calendar you wish to retain and go to File > Export… > Export…+
+Repeat the above process for every Calendar you wish to keep. (Make sure you remember where you saved them)+
    +Quit out of iCal+
+Go to Finder and click on your Home icon to display the Library folder.+
    +Open that folder+
+Open the Calendars folder in the subsequent window+
+Delete all the contents within that folder+
+NOTE: If you open iCal at this point, it will initially appear that you cleared everything. Within minutes, however, everything will come back.+
+Go to your Utilities folder and open the Terminal application+
+Enter the following command: rm -rf ~/Library/{Caches,Caches/Metadata,Preferences,Application\ Support}/iCal+
    +Exit out of Terminal+
    +Open iCal and…Voila! Brand new iCal!+
But that did not completely work. So before doing this again, I went to my iPhone and quit syncing calendars on my mobile me account. And chose to ERASE every calendar on my iPhone.
After doing that and repeating the process above, I opened up iCal and boom, it worked. Then after I had the calendars setup the way I wanted on my MacBook, I proceeded to go to Preferences>MobileMe>Sync> and then chose to sync
I then went to Me.com and checked to see if the calendar was operable and it was 100%. I could do everything like before. Then I went back to my iPhone and just turned Calendar syncing back on in my mobileme preferences.
This has solved all my problems 100%. Hope this helps someone. Just remember that as long as you created a backup of your Calendar you should be safe.

Well... seems I didn't have any answer on this. I fiddled a bit more but I have to say that I really came to wits' end at this stage. A couple of observations though:
    * I don't really understand this notion of a keyboard issue. My keyboard and its layout work properly but I will not be able to login regardless of login through GDM, KDM or Slim. Yet it's worth noting that in the case of GDM and SLIM the X server starts; I see the graphical interface, I click, etc. but when I type the trouble starts.
    * I tried to check my xsessions-errors file. The file is really big under a frame buffer, and it wasn't clear to me, but I found strange that the log was reporting all sorts of attempts to start KDE. I don't exactly know what's going on.
If anybody has any clue, let me know... It's becoming very frustrating.
    Thanks!

  • Sync iCal - iPhone - Exchange 2007 broken after MobileMe Calendar upgrade

I need to keep contacts and calendars in sync between my work pc (XP, Outlook 2003, Exchange Server 2010), my home Mac (10.6.6) and my iPhone (3GS, iOS 4.3). Until recently, that worked fine by the following (roundabout) way: PC syncs with Plaxo online via Outlook add-in; Plaxo syncs with Mac; Mac syncs with MobileMe; MobileMe syncs with iPhone. However, the recent upgrade to new MobileMe calendar breaks this workflow, at least for calendar syncing, because Plaxo cannot synchronise with the new CalDAV cloud-hosted calendars. Can anyone suggest another way of getting this to work?
I thought MobileMe for PC might be a solution, but while it can show MobileMe calendars in Outlook, it can't synchronize them (and it seems not to work with Windows XP). A while back, I tried using Google Calendar as the focal point, but found Google Calendar Sync for Windows created a lot of duplicate items, lost items and general mess.
PS The office network doesn't run Exchange ActiveSync and does not allow a vpn connection from Mac or iPhone.

    Hi JWilson@ch,
So I thought I was the only person doing that crazy workflow to get everything synced. I do it exactly the same way.
I stupidly upgraded to the new MobileMe last year when first invited, and spent the next few days working out how to get it all back and working. I have been happily syncing everything the old way since then.
My major concern now is that I just received an email from MobileMe today saying I have to upgrade now as they have stopped syncing the old calendar! I haven't checked this yet (I will in a sec), but if I have to upgrade, that means I lose everything that has worked so well since MobileMe started.
My crappy work Blackberry is useless for mirroring my Outlook calendar, so syncing my work onto the much more user friendly iPhone had been a saviour. Now I have all of my work and personal appointments in the same place, and I never miss anything.
What to do now? Is there another way to get my PC calendar onto my iPhone, apart from the Exchange Activesync option which my office also doesn't support.
I'll hold out as long as I can...

  • Calendar upgrade failure, how can I reset the new calendar

Upgrading to the new v4 calendar on MobileMe has been a complete failure. Currently have a ticket open with Apple support, the upgrade failed with a "catastrophic failure message", my data was not fully transferred, etc.
I need to reset the new calendar, clear it completely, then reimport data from my v3 calendar from a backup to see if it will work. Any clues? There appears to be zero data on this.
Apple you really dropped the ball on quality control on this....

Launch Photos again, but hold down the alt/options key ⌥ while double clicking the Photos icon to launch the app. This will bring up the library chooser panel. select the library that you want to migrate to Photos.
After Photos completed the conversion, open the Preferences and select the new library as the main system library on the General tab of the Preferences.
Then you can delete the other migrated Photos library.

  • Calendar upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6

I cannot seem to find or get running the Wiki calendar that was shared by all users previously. It keeps saying it's not started, but as far as I can see, it is. The other Wiki items are running OK, just not calendar. Where are the previous items, and what do I need to do to restart the calendar? Also, even though I did an upgrade, I had to re-enter all the users.

    Kia ora lemecdutex,
were the other wikis from the upgrade or new. The fact you had to re-enter all the users suggests your upgrade didn't work. Can you re upgrade from you previous setup. I found that I tried to u/grade my 10.5.8 server to 10.6 and it sort of worked, users were there but not calendars.
I checked a copy of the 10.5.8 server and it had permission errors. I corrected that and then it all worked.

  • Other users suddenly seeing my iCal calendars since upgrade

Since the new MobileMe calendar upgrade, my wife's login on the same computer sees all of my iCal calendars. She gets all the alarms and notifications I set for myself, which is a bit annoying for her. I do not have any sharing enabled either in iCal or in the MobileMe calendar interface. My calendars appear under the "<my_name>@me.com" heading on the left of her iCal window.
I have a full MobileMe account and she has only the "@me.com" email address but she uses iCal to sync with her iPhone. We've had this setup for years, since mac.com. Never had an issue like this before. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
    Brad

Have you migrated your MobileMe to iCloud? If you haven't you need to go to http://me.com and do so now, and I mean now.
That done, the method for sharing iCloud calendars is described here:

  • Can't get my calendars to sync since the mobile me 'upgrade'

Ever since the Mobile Me calendar 'upgrade' I can't get all my devices to sync properly.  I've been using Mobile Me to sync everything for years with out problem, but now some events turn up on certain devices and not on others.  Put simply they are not syncing.  What's changed?

With the newest Mobile Me Calendar it isn't directly synced any more. Instead you're working directly on the Mobile Me calendar with iCal / iPhone / iPod touch. Have a look at the support document how to set up.

  • Mobileme not sync calendars

Since I accepted the new mobile calendar "Upgrade your calendar to maintain syncing and calendar web access"
my calndar on my mac and my  iphone are not  syncing anymore . Pressing the manual sync in system proeferences
mobile just leaves the status stuck on : getting mobileme info, with "cancel sync" buton grayed out.  Guess apple should hire some QA folks, every release of the product seems to fall over.

    Hello,
I ran into the same issue when I converted over to the new MobileMe calendar.  My solution was to delete the accounts from my iPad and iPhone the recreate them on the devices.  After I did this all has been fine.  It would seem that it gets a bit confused on this change in protocol.

  • Can't update to the new calendar

I have now spent 4 hours today trying to get my iCal working - and I've been a Mac user since 1990.
I do have a calendar on Mobile Me -- calendar/old -whatever that is..
I have tried to update to the new calendar 4 times -- and I get an error message each time:
Your calendar upgrade for the new MobileMe Calendar couldn't finish because of a server error. Please try again.
Don't worry, no calendar data has been lost. However, you should wait until the upgrade is complete before setting up your other devices. Thank you for your patience.
Server error ???? Thanks, Apple -- that helps a lot.
I am so messed up with iCal today that I'm ready to shut down and look for a glass of something strong ....
I have a working calendar "On My Mac" -- called iCal
It does sync between 5 Macs and my iPad and 2 iPods ---
But - I also have a calendar called "Home" at [email protected] It is empty.
My first thought is to ignore [email protected] -- and just keep working with what works - iCal on my Mac. But - it has hundreds of duplicates of events - some of them from some old USA holiday calendar in the 90's -- and I get sync messages that tell me that sync is about to add another 2440 iCal events to each computer --- over and over again.
    What a piece of crap - I hate iCal - and Mobile Me - and Me.Com -----
I'll call Apple on Monday and see if I can get some return for all the Apple Cares that I have paid for on everything.
This is not well engineered - or documented - or implemented - shame on Apple for doing this to me.

I have the same problem and no help from Apple

  • Ical not syncing with new mobileme ical calendar

    Morning All
I have been using mobileme now for sometime and i have not encounted any sync problems until recently.
The problem has started since i have upgraded the ical calendar in mobileme, i can sync my iphone with mobileme ical but ical on my mac will not sync with the new calendar on mobile me.
i am not sure what i am doing wrong any help would be much appreciated.

The exact same thing happened to me. Everything is seamless before the calendar upgrade, now after the upgrade MobileMe is not worth paying a dime for. The web-based calendar and devices seem totally disconnected from the iCal and Entourage.
I tried everything there is to be done and nothing worked

  • All Calendars gone!

    iCal has stopped working!
On my Macbook all of my Calenders have disappeared, this could be since the MobileMe calendar upgrade.
All my data / calendars are still on the MobileMe Calendar and my iPhone.
My iPhone has stopped syncing with the Mobile Me calendar via the phone network and calendars will not sync between my Laptop and iphone via iTunes.
I have a hunch that it may be related to a change on the Mobile me service?
The most important thing for me is to not loose the data. Whilst it's on the server and the phone at least I still have access to it.
    How do I fix this?
One option would be to reinstall and re configure iCal to take all the data from the server. How would I do this?
Would I need to remove any 'Library stuff' first?
    Thanks
    D

    10.6.7 on the MacBook
I have a had a look at that document and could go through it with a fine toothcomb. What is really frustrating is that this has been working for a long time and just stopped. I suspect the quickest fix will be reinstal and reconfigure......
Is there any chance that the problem is related to my Apple id not being a mobile me email address? If this were the case it would be change at Apple's end.
I could use bootcamp to return to the state of the computer 3 days ago. The problem would be that other work and emails would then be out of date......
    Ideas please

  • I have an apple ID and a separate mobile me account...

I'm a long time .mac and mobile me user that is now getting around to finding out what I need to do to transition to iCloud. I've been searching to find answers to a few questions and not finding exactly what I need to know - so let me just ask them all at once.
I have a separate apple id (that has been used to purchase thousands of $$ of music and movies through iTunes) that is not connected with my mobile me ID. From what I've read, I can't merge these - so one will have to go and one will have to become my ID for iCloud.
Since I don't want to lose access to all my music and movies - I'm guessing I will need to use my apple ID to create an iCloud account. Using my Apple ID will ensure that I can continue to have all the media I've purchased across my desktop, laptop, iPad, iPod and iPhone.
My mobile me account has been used to sync 10 or so calendars and all my many contacts. Since all the calendars are now online since the mobile me calendar upgrade a while back - how do I not lose them all when I close out my mobile me account to open a new iCloud account with my apple ID (I'm guessing there is no easy transition of data from one account to another?) I'm terrified to switch to iCloud now because I can't merge my IDs - so I'm afraid I will lose ALL my calendar history and contacts.
Can someone tell me what I should do here?
    Lost in the Cloud

You should continue to use your Apple ID for your iTunes account whatever you do in terms of iCloud syncing and mobile me.
If you would like to use the Apple ID you use for iTunes for iCloud syncing. just create an iCloud account using that Apple ID. If you do this you will need to add an iCloud mail address which can't be your mobile me address as that is already taken.
If you want to create another Apple ID for use with iCloud so that you keep your @me address from your mobile me account you can do that by migrating from mobile me to iCloud, you can do that too, your Apple ID for iCloud will then be your @me address.
If you migrate your calendars and contacts will also be migrated and continue to work in iCloud. If you create an iCloud account using the Apple ID you use for iTunes you will be given the oportunity to merge your calendars and contacts.
Whichever you choose, it would be agood idea to export your calendars and contacts for back up purposes before doing anything.
