Calendar Year View is Incorrect

For most years before 2005, "year view" is empty on my iPad. No yellow/orange boxes.
But I do have entries in earlier years. They only show up in Month/Week/Day views.
Even stranger: there is at least one case (in 1986)  where there is an entry in year view,
but no corresponding one in Month/Week/Day view. They do show up in "List" view.
Earlier entries (for example in 1980) are present in Month/Week/Day view, but not in Year or List View.
I am using iCloud, and none of these problems exist on my mac. It does have all the 1986 and 1980
entries correctly in all views.
Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Unfortunately, that's the way the cookie crumbles nowadays. Sir Jony Ive's GUI design for iOS7 has been met with much skepticism (to say the least). But until the company sees the compelling need for an adjustment or reversal, it "ain't happenin' ". So amble over to the feedback page ( http://www.apple.com/feedback/ ) and make your displeasure known to the company, OR make it known by not purchasing its products. Because as long as the iGadgets continue selling as fast as they can make them, they will see no need for change.
BTW, do note you are NOT talking to Apple here. This is just a user-to-user forum.
Edit: for now, you can also try out any of the alternate calendaring apps available in the App Store.

  • Ios 7 Calendar year view lost gradient colours

Noticed that on ios 7 the calendar year view no longer shows the gradient colours.
This was very cool feature so you could have an overview of how busy was my agenda.
Any idea if this is a setting that needs to be activated somewhere or is it totally gone?
If not year view seems pretty useless...

When you restarted the app did you quit it first?
I would first quit the app then reset the phone.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app.
Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • No events in Calendar "Year" view since IOS 7 update

I just updated my iPad to IOS 7.0.4. Before the update the Calendar app "Year" view indicated days that had events/appointments by colour-shading that day. Since updating no events are visible in Year view. Is there place where I can turn this feature on again?

As I stated in original post, the previous IOS version of the Calendar app showed days with scheduled events by colour-shading the background for that day in the Year view... just like the Calendar app in OSX Mavericks still does. I find it very useful when planning vacations/events, etc. That way I can view the whole year and see when I have free blocks of time.

  • Calendar year view showing wrong date

My Calendar shows the correct date in the dock, and also in Day, Week and Month view but when I click on Year view it highlights yesterday's date as Today!
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, have they found a remedy?
    Many thanks.

I have noticed a good number of such issues with I-Cal over the last several months. Many, far more serious than this date issue. The new beta version of I-Cal is right around the corner and if it works as it usually does (latest Safari update released yesterday fixed the crash issues), the next update should repair these issues. I hope this helps.

  • Calendar - Year view??

My iPad had a superb calendar with a year view. Seems a shame iCal doesn't have this simple facility. Is there a way to get it, or a suitable (compatable) calendar that does?

iCal doesn't have the year view in Snow Leopard.
When you upgrade to Lion, iCal looks very much like the calendar on the iPad.

  • IOS 7 - iPad - Calendar - Year View Events

    Hi all,
in iOS 7 on the iPad the events are no longer highlighted in the year view. This feature was quite useful and is removed for no reason.
How can we get this feature back? Please reply, and vote for the topic!

thanks for the prompt reply.  Ios 7.1 is now advertising a new list view button.  It is on my iphone not my ipad.
Also I have done some more testing on swiping between the days or weeks in landscape.  It is working if I first swipe to the left ie back in time but not if I first swipe right ie forwards in time.

  • Calendar bug - half-year view glitch - Z10 10.2.1

BB10 calendar app's half-year view display has a bug that seems pretty disturbing because it is so basic:
    1) Open calendar to month view (this is my default)
    2) Swipe the content pane down to reveal the half-year view
    3) Tap the current month - this dismisses the half-year view and takes you to the month view
    4) Swipe the content pane down again to reveal the half-year view, then swipe right to view the prior half-year, then swipe left to get back to the current half-year.
The dates shown for the current month in the half-year view will be shifted.
I noticed this bug in April 2014.  The 1st of the month fell on a Tuesday.  But after doing the above described swipe sequence, the dates shown for just April, in the half-year view, are shifted forward, so that it incorrectly shows April 1 as falling on a Wednesday.  As I'm reporting this on April 30, it's unlikely to get reviewed by someone at BlackBerry in April, and I didn't try re-setting my device date to different months to see if the bug manifests for months other than April.  So, if a BlackBerry reviewer is going over this bug report later this year and cannot get the bug to manifest, they should re-set their device date to some date in April 2014.  However, as they investigate the bug, they should probably try to get it to manifest in other months, and maybe also in a leap year.
Note that if you do two right swipes in the half-year view, to go back to the prior year, then do two left swipes to again get back to the current year, the dates for the current month then line up correctly.
A bug like this really makes me lose trust in my calendar (a calendar is not a new research problem in software development, so if this is broken, what else is broken?)
    Device/OS details:
    STL100-3
    Software release:  10.2.1.2156
    OS Version: 10.2.1.2228

Confirmed that the same bad behavior is there now that the calendar has rolled forward to May.
Like I said this raises the question of what else is broken in the basic functionality of an essential app.
BlackBerry folks reading this - hope to you see you reproduce the bug, and acknowledge ingestion of a bug report into your internal bug tracking system, for priority fix on next OS release.
Others reading this, if you reproduce the bug (should be easy) - please add comments as you see fit, to get BlackBerry's attention on this one.

  • Why can't I print out a year view calendar?

I was thrilled to find we now have a Year-View in iCal with OSX Lion, but now I find I cannot print it out. Every year, I like to print a few year-view calendars to keep in different places. Right now, I do not have any calendar program that will let me do that. What is so wrong with letting us print a year view calendar?

    As a work around:
When displaying the year view, switch to full screen view and type  Command(⌘)-Shift-3 to take a screen shot.
That will store a picture of the screen on your Desktop. Print the picture.

  • HT201412 I cannot open the month of March 2013 in my iPad3 calendar. I can however see it in the year view for 2013 and I can view the daily and weekly calendars for March 2013. Any ideas what has gone wrong ? Thanks

I have a new iPad3 and have found I cannot open the month of March 2013 when I tap on it. All other months open OK ! I can see March 2013 in the yearly view and I can open the individual days, and weeks, of March 2013 but I cannot see the whole month in the monthly view. When I try to open the monthly view for March 2013 it returns me to the start screen which shows all the apps etc and closes the Calendar app. Any guidance of what is going wrong and how it can be corrected. Thanks !

Don't worry we have to start somewhere. Feel free to post your questions here, we learn from each other.

  • Calendar app stuck on year view

iPhone 4S running OS 8.1 - Calendar app stuck in year view. Shows todays date in red but when you try to go to "Today" nothing happens. Any thoughts?

There is more than one place to change time. If you set the time to local, you need to go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>scroll down to the bottom under calendar and set the time zone support there for the local time zone.

  • Calendar week numbers in Yosemite do not show entirely in Year View

Sorry to say this but I'm actually a bit shocked at Apple's quality control to be posting this bug. Bugs are one thing but this is, in my view, absolutely unacceptable.
Calendar Week Numbers are truncated in the Year View. Only the first digit is shown, which means it shows week number 1 - 9 correctly, but 10, 11, 12... etc. all show just 1. Week 21, 22, 23... etc. show only 2.
Tried it in a fresh Guest Account, so not an issue with my .plist files or similar.

Doesn't for me unfortunately with the Calendar List hidden, as to be seen below. I think it could have something to do with resolution and screen space of the display, since resizing the window tends to fix it for specific widths and heights. I'm using a Thunderbolt Display with my rMBP.

  • IPhone Calendar List View Extends Back Only One Year

My iPhone calendar List view extends back approximately one year despite the fact that I have calendar entries extending back to 1999 and that older data is visible under the Day and Month views. This is a problem because the only search mechanism in iPhone calendar is through the List view. Therefore, any search I conduct extends back only to the data in the List view ... which means back only one year.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how I could change this such that the List view extends to include ALL of my calendar entries and is in conformity with the Day and Month views? (I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to "correct" this, but perhaps Apple has designed it this way to speed-up the searching in List view ... I'm not certain.)
I am currently running the most recent iOS update, am syncing my iPhone calendar via MobileMe, have upgraded to the new version of the MobileMe calendar, and have ALREADY reset my sync. history, deleted my iPhone calendar and re-synced it, etc. These don't resolve the problem.

I've noticed that the date to which the List View will "look back" will change depending on software updates or syncs.
For instance, a few weeks ago my List View went back to December 2009 ... now it goes back to Jan. 2010 (i.e. I lost a month of "look back"). I do not specifically recall what triggered this change, but I reset my sync. log during this period.
If you make no changes to the sync. log or update the software, the List View start date will stay constant I believe. For instance, if the List View goes back to Jan. 1, 2010 right now it should stay that way until you reset the sync. log or update the iPhone software. Theoretically then the List View can "look back" much longer than 12 months assuming you make no changes to the sync. log or update the software. Of course, this doesn't address our issue here, but I thought I would point out that there seems to be a consistent pattern here and not some random bug screwing things up.
I'm still thinking that this is the way Apple intended it to work. In other words, that Apple felt it necessary to limit the calendar search feature to approximately 12 months worth of calendars. I hope I'm wrong.

  • Calendar list view and search go back only 1 year

I have a new iPhone 4S (IOS5).  Calendar List view shows entries only back to a year ago, yet Day, Month and Week views show all my entries going back to Oct 2008.  Perhaps related:  the monthly views in Reminders also go back just one year.  A friend with an iPhone 4 and upgraded to IOS5 doesn't have this problem (with her Calendar;  I don't know about her Reminders).
The problem also affects my global (Spotlight) searches as well, so I can't find entries earlier than Oct 2010.  Is there some setting I have that may be causing this?
I should say that this problem existed for me on my 3G phone that I just replaced with the 4GS.  But all the other Calendar problems I had with the old phone and IOS4 appear to be fixed.  Only the one described above remains.
One more thing:  My PC is Windows and I don't sync my Calendars with Outlook (or anything else, of course).  When I used to do that I would get duplicate entries and other problems.  (If I need to restore a lost Calendar entry, I'll use my iPhone backup, which runs every night when I sync my phone).
Is this a known Calendar problem still existing with IOS5?

FYI for those equally frustrated, I did place this in Feedback - not that it will result in an answer anytime soon. Why don't you do it too - get some momentum on this!
