Calibrate and color profile errors

I was trying to calibrate my screen and an error popped up. When checking colorsync utility it says that a profile tag is not present 'pseq' and could not be fixed. I had no issue before but I had to deinstall and reinstall Adobe CC, then I had this issue happen. Please help! I need my screen calibrated. Thanks

Check System Preferences>Universal Access>Seeing to see if any options are turned on that shouldn't be. Some of them can be easily turned on with keyboard shortcuts.

  • Access image size and color profile

    Hi all,
Is it possible to access image size and color profile ? If not, will it be possible in CS6 ?
    Thanks.

Load the external XMP library and get it from that?

  • I can't calibrate any color profile for my iMac's display!

I think I accidentally deleted the color profile for my iMac's display
and now it won't let me calibrate any profile! All the colors are bright and washed out.
When I go to the display>color preference panel I get an error sound whenever I click ANY color profile, and it doesn't load. When I click "calibrate" it gives me the message: "Can not calibrate the display. The factory profile for the display could not be found."
But I wasn't even using the factory profile, and it won't let me choose any other ones, either (though a whole list does show up!)
I tried repairing/verifying the profiles in the ColorSync Utility, but it didn't help.
Is there somewhere I can download the profile and install it? I'm running a white 20" Core Duo 2GHz iMac (summer of 2006), if that helps.
    Thanks!

    seenew,
I'm wondering if you would have any luck with resetting the PRAM? PRAM settings hold some of the display preferences I believe.
See: "Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM"
If not, I am wondering if reapplying the Combo update for 10.4.7 might correct the display calibration issue or at least return it to the default?
I don't think that recreating the .plist file for displays will help.
As far as I know you cannot "download" the profile.
sorry if those suggestions don't help,

  • MBP, external monitor and color profiles

I have been using my 17" MBP for editing photos with Aperture 2.01 and Nikon Capture NX. I calibrate the screen using i1 Display 2. Yesterday I bought a new 24" monitor hoping to use it as a second display for Aperture. Of course I calibrated it immediately after I hooked it up.
Now I have two color profiles, one for the MBP display and one for the new monitor. I correctly assigned them to the two displays. I set up the displays so that the MBP display is my main desktop (with the icons and the menu bar on it) and the external display as secondary.
The problem is, when fire up Aperture, colors are displayed correctly on the MBP display but they are over saturated on the external display. The same happens for other applications like Safari and Preview. However when I use Capture NX and Firefox, when I move pictures across the two monitor, I see the same thing (over saturation) but after a very short time (less than one second) the color changes to back normal.
I suspect that most programs like Aperture and Safari use the color profile for the main display and even though the windows is moved across to the 2nd display, the programs do not change to the right color profile. I see only Capture NX and Firefox are smart enough to change profile when windows are moved across the screens.
Is this normal or have I done something wrong?

  • Iphoto and color profiles

I know this is a tricky topic, but I'm trying to nail it down.
The colors of the prints from iPhoto on my Canon Pixma iP4000 inkjet do not match what I see on my ibook G4 LCD monitor on my ibook. I do most of my editing within iPhoto (although some in Elements). What color profile do you suggest I use with the display--I've tried Color LCD and sRGB (both types) but the colors are still off from the printed output.
The photos generally have sRGBIEC61996-2.1 embedded in them. The output is better with Colorsync on than off, but I still get a yellowish cast on my printed output. I know I could adjust picture by picture, but I need a more comprehensive solution. I'm also not sure anymore how files sent to photo processors and Apple books will turn out compared to my display.
Many thanks for any advice you could give. BTW is there any way to find the kind of embedded profiles in a picture from within iPhoto 6, as well as its current (edited) resolution and size?
    Jack Shalom

    dhollister:
You probably know more about it that I but in iPhoto's Advanced preferences section there's a checkbox to Add ColorSync Profile (upon import). I've not gotten a good handle on it but you can experiment with some files with that option turned on and off to see if it will correct your problem.
Just ran a test with an image file right out of my Canon camera with the Camera RGB profile. I imported that file with and without that check box selected and didn't see any diffference. Checked the EXIF fields with another application, iView MediaPro, and both reported just "RGB". The user may have to add the particular profile to the file before importing to the the profile they want. I added with iView MediaPro the sRGB and the sRGB IEC6 1966-2.1 profiles and saw little difference when comparing them on screen. I then added the Adobe RGB 1968 profile and then saw a more saturated color in the image. All comparisons were made in iPhoto in the full screen mode.
I know Apple uses the sRGB profile for it's printing, books, etc. so have set up my Photoshop CS2 preferences to use that profile. I've also set my monitor to use the sRGB profile. The books I've ordered have been good color wise so I guess it's working for me.
Hope this information has been of some help.

  • ColorSync and color profile stuck in sepia tone!

This is a detailed post explaining my problem and everything I've tried. Please help me!
My 1-year-old likes to jam on the keyboard of my iMac G4 (he's a regular mac lover, he is), and as such sometimes messes things up. I never thought he could do any damage to the OS that I couldn't fix, and I have the restore set. Now he's messed it up and I DON'T have the restore set.
    Model: iMac G4 800mhz w/ upgraded memory and OS X 10.4.7.
Basically my screen is displaying in nothing but sepia tones. The desktop environment, applications, video, 3D apps...everything. Here is the list of things I attempted that have not worked thus far:
    1. Tried changing the filters settings in ColorSync Utility. No filters were set.
    2. Tried changing color profiles in Displays, only made slight changes to the same sepia tones (contrast and whatnot)
    3. Used First Aid to Verify and Repair my profiles. No problems detected. Still sepia.
    4. Tried to create a Calibrated Generic RGB profile without using Expert Mode, to no avail.
I have no idea how to tweak individual RGB settings, especially with no plain RGB shades to work with. Please explain this to me as if I were a 3rd grader...I know that if my baby was able to change this in a few seconds, it's got to be something really simple or else he's an evil mastermind. I'm just missing it somewhere. Help me!

  • Keynote PDF Export and Color Profile

I have some color trouble with the pdf-exports of keynote: the color that is shown in the pdf does not correpond with the one in the keynote file. The pdf has more ”milky” colors. Maybe it is a color profile thing. But what profile doese keynote use for the screen? Or does it convert rgb-colors to cmyk? Anyway, how to sync exactly keynote and pdf colors for screen presentations?

There are a few things you can try:
In the PDF export box there is an Image Quality dropdown, where you can choose Good, Better or Best. Which are you using?
Alternatively you can just output the file as a PDF using the Print function. Your profile says you are using Mac OS X 10.4 in which case, in the print window click on the PDF button and choose Compress PDF to output a smaller file.
If you have since moved up to 10.5, this option is no longer available by default, but there is an Automator action that restores it here : http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/compresspdfworkflow.html
The other thing to check is whether your graphics are at the actual size you need them or if you have scaled down a big picture, for example. The PDF will still contain information for the full-size image.
Re-sizing them in something like Photoshop to the size you need first before placing them in the presentation may help.
Finally, if you have Acrobat (Pro, not just the reader) you can use the Reduce File Size option in the FIle menu to compress the PDF you get from Keynote.
Post back with how you get on.

  • LR4.2 and color profiles

HI,  LR4 does not recognize my custom Ilford icm.profiles st in W7 System32 . However CS6 and QImage can . What do I miss? Thanks for your help .

When a HD goes "bad" it is in certain locations. When you re-installed Lr it would not be in the exact location of your HD where it was before.
So that rules the HD out as a source of the "misbehavior".
But you can run a test of your HD in Win 7. Here's how (a copy from the Win 7 Help Menu):
    Click on <My Computer>.
Right-click the drive that you want to check, and then click Properties.
Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check now. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will report problems but not fix them.
To perform a thorough check, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan attempts to find and repair physical errors on the drive itself, and it can take much longer to complete.
To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
    Click Start.

  • LR4.3 and color profiles

Adobe have investigated the problems some have reported with v4 profiles or even v2 LUT profiles and reported that their tests show LR 4.3 can handle both v4 and v2, LUT and matrix color profiles correctly, IF the profiles have been made correctly by the profiling software.
On Macs, LR does not handle the profiles at all, the conversions are done by the OS, so any problem is a profile or OS problem. The ColorSync utility can be used to verify or repair bad profiles, apparently (I don't use Macs). On Windows, LR does do the transforms, but can handle all types of correctly made profiles.
So the problems are most likely with the profiling software, and this should be reported to the software company. I seem to remember several of the posts I read referred to ColorEyes profiles.
    Hope this helps.

Allow me to repeat the reply I made in the feedback forum:
    Robert Frost,
I'm sorry to say I'm not convinced, Bob.
Lightroom is the only application I have running on OS X (10.8.2) that has problems with ColorEyes icc v2 LUTs. Photoshop CS5 does not have any problem with those profiles.
The ColorSync Utility indicates the LUTs are fine.
I would be interested to know who at Adobe investigated the problem, when it was done and where the report was made.
Message was edited by: Bob_Peters  I sent you one of the offending LUTs.

  • Softproof and color profiles

Not all my correct installed color profiles are available in the softproof-menu 'Profile' in the development module. Why not? And how can I change that?
    Thanks.

Indeed only the CMYK and lab-profiles are missing.
    Thanks for your answer.

  • Macbook and color profiles?

    simple question.. maybe..
i have photoshop on my macbook. the photos i work on look the same in photoshop and in preview.
when i upload them to a photo-sharing website (ala fotki.com) its much lighter, as if the color profile is completely different (in firefox & safari).
when i look at the same uploaded photo on my vaio laptop it looks exactly as in my macbook's photoshop.. whats going on here??
    thanks.

I don't think you should consider yourself of the 'lucky few' crowd. You have to remember that most people come to these forums because they are having problems - and the Macbook forums are busy because a lot of people are buying them. MOST of the Macbook users are not here - prob. don't even know about these posts and are more than likely off enjoying their little books without issue.
Having a problem free Macbook puts you in the majority. Being in these forums with a problem free Macbook puts you in the minority.

  • LR 2.5 and color profile problems with Samsung XL2370

    Lightroom 2.5 / Windows XP3 / CS4 Photoshop / Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 LED monitor:
Changed monitor from Dell to Samsung's new LED SyncMaster XL2370. Updated Nvidia 7900GS card driver to latest version available.... resulting in a complete mixup of photo colors in Lightroom2.5 as well as CS4 Photoshop CR2(raw) and Tiff files; white becoming red, blue becoming green....., so really wrong!!! JPEG files are not affected.
When I change Color Settings(RGB) in CS4 Photoshop from ProphotoRGB or AdobeRGB1998 to Samsung monitor color profile, colors get at least more or less right.( I don't know how to do that in Lightroom?).
How can I resolve this situation? My complete photo archive is at stake obviously.
Thanks in advance for your help and support!!!
    Paul

Thx Ian for your reply!  Some more questions...
-Is it "normal" when unpacking/installing a new monitor and updating card drivers that it mixes up color profiles? Your solutions seem still pretty expensive!
-How come that when using other (non Adobe)tools (e.g Canon Zoombrowser EX) colors are OK?
-I know how to specify color profiles in CS4 Photoshop but how do you do that in Lightroom?

  • New Document - sizing and color profile

I am using Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 and I can't seem to get the settings for a new document to stick.
When I make a new document my color profile never matches my color settings (RGB: Adobe RGB (1998); CMYK: U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2; Convert to Working RGB; Convert to Working CMYK; Ask when opening), it always is reset to sRGB. Also, when I create a new document it doesn't seem to remember either what I used last or what is in my clipboard - it always resets to 1 x 67.
Is there some hidden setting I'm missing?

Short standard answer: If prefs don't stick, you have permissions issues. Verify your user privileges and file permissions on the prefs folder.

  • Snow Loepard and Color Profiles...

I don't know if this post belongs here or in the InDesign forum...
I just upgraded to Apple's Snow Leopard and am using CS3 and am printing to an Epson Stylus Photo 1400. Suddenly, all of the Epson profiles that were once available in the Adobe print dialog boxes are missing.
Well, that's not entirely true... I can still see all of the Epson profiles when I print from Photoshop but they are missing from the InDesign and Illustrator print dialog boxes. I searched my hard drive for files with the same name as the color profile, such as SP1400 PQIJ or something like that, but I do not find any files by those names.
Epson tech support had be re-install the printer driver but the problem remains...any ideas? (BTW, I can also see the Epson color profiles then printing from Apple's Safari or Apple's Mail.app.)

I got the Epson profiles from:
    Library/Printers/EPSON/InkJetPrinter2/ICCProfiles/
From there, I selected my printer, Control clicked on it and choose View Package Contents. I moved these profiles to the location mentioned in my previous post.
I think Apple and Epson are trying to keep the profile files hidden, so that the computer will pick the proper profile after the user chooses the printer and paper they are printing to in the Print dialog box.
I think Adobe should adopt this workflow, too. If we choose a paper type and printer in Apple's print dialog box, InDesign should recognize this and choose the proper profile in the InDesign print dialog box.
If Adobe is listening, there is another issue, as well. Since installing Snow Leopard, I can no longer print full-bleed on size Super-B paper, 13"x19". There is a white border on the left and right edges. But, this may be an Apple/Epson problem...
