Calibrating a tablet for digitizing drawings

Hello,
I'm trying to use a digitizer tablet in Illustrator but I can't figure out how to calibrate it so that the vectors come out at the right size/length regardless of the zoom level. In CAD, the 'tablet' command allows you to pick two points on the tablet and correspond that to two points on the CAD model space and after you do that, the scale at which you draw remains constant. I'm drawing archaeological sections so the scale needs to be exact.
I've had difficulty trying to do the same in Illustrator, can anyone help? Thanks!

Not possible in AI. You will need to do it yourself. Great idea for a feature request though.

  • Can I use Photoshop Elements 12 for digital drawings?

By this, I mean can I freehand draw on PSE 12?
I bought it originally to replace PSE 8, and, being the simple person I am, didn't bother researching it a bit first. I assumed that it would be like PSE 8, only better, so it seemed worth it.
I just finished installing it about 20 minutes ago, and spent about 10 minutes playing around with it and what not, but I can't seem to find any of the settings or tools I need to resume my drawing. I kind of found the brush tool, but I can't make it work like it should!
    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you so much!
As soon as I clicked Expert, all the tools popped up!
    Ugh, I'm so relieved!

  • What color profile for digital printing?

Under color settings in InDesign i only find profiles for offset press but what color profile should i use if i want my document printed on a digital printer?

    indewarry wrote:
i just find it strange that there is no 'standard' profile for printing for digital press. All profiles are for conventional press.
Like conventional presses, digital equipment uses a range of inks and papers, so there is no single profile that would always be correct, and the press operator can often calibrate the equipment to one of several differnt standards. I use a printer that offers both offset and digital (using an HP Indigo) printing, and all of their equipment is calibrated to GRAcol.
The fact that the printer couldn't tell you the correct profile is a big red flag shouting that they don't know anything about color management. Don't expect good color fidelity, and insist on a contract proof.

  • I MAC for digital photography

I am planning to buy an IMAC with 27" monitor. I will be doing digital photography but not CAD design or engineering calculations.  What are the recommended specs as far as processor, speed,RAM,Hard drive size, video card, etc?

    HI
All the Imac 27" are pretty fab for digital photography, they have better graphics cards than the previous iMac models. You'll need to buy as much memory as you can afford, 4Gb is standard but 8 or 12Gb will make apps like Lightroom faster to use. Monitor calibration on Lion is not straightfoward though, as many older x-rite profiling gadgets are not yet supported (software fix still being cooked up by x-rite). Best to store your image files on an external HD, like a Drobo. Don't use the iMac's HD to store your archive, just in case it fails.
    Good luck

When I try to enter codes for digital movie downloads it tells me "code redemption is temporarily unavailable. Try again later." Customer support has been no help. Anyone else have this problem?
Am sick of going back and forth with what has turned out to be worthless customer support. Have sent them so much info and pictures, no help. All they do is send me links for instructions on how to redeem the codes. I know how to redeem, I have redeemed at least 50 codes. To them I am obviously an idiot though. To me it seems to be a problem on their end, but can't get an answer from them on why it is telling me code redemption is unavailable. Please help! Anybody!

Confirming my suspicions with every passing hour. Support on this forum is non-existent like the support from Apple support. But, you got my money now... why would you care?

  • Does Apple have any plans on making an Iphone app to control Logic Pro like Motu has done for Digital performer? They make it for free which is a HUGE plus!

i was wondering if Apple has any intentions on making an Iphone/Ipad app to remotely control Logic like Motu has for Digital performer. Motu has it available for free which is a huge plus but Id be willing to pay for one if Apple came out with one of its own.Im a little mift as to why it hasnt been done, Im sure they are capable of it.

I've been using Touch.OSC, from Hexler. It is not created by Apple but works like a charm on Logic. I've been using the app for over a year both on my iPad and my iPhone. Check the app on Hexler @ http://hexler.net/software/touchosc. Another app (which I still haven't tried) is lpTouch. You can get more info at http://www.delora.com/delora_products/lptouch/lptouch.html. Both are sold at App Store for $ 4.99. Yeah, it would be cool if Apple included its own iPad/iPhone app to control LogicPro on a future update... but for the stick price of the apps I've mentioned you might have a good 'bang for the buck".

  • Use of active directory userid/password authentication instead of SAP R/3 User/Password for digital signature?

    Dear all,
I am looking to setup the use of active directory userid/password authentication instead of SAP R/3 User/Password for digital signature. We SSO to the backened ABAP AS via an SAP NW Portal to which SPNEgo kerberos authentication is setup. Today we specify R3 user id/password to digitally approvae a lot release. The idea is to have users maintain one AD password and don't have to remember the R/3 password anymore and also our Security team to avoid password maintenance.
I know there are 3 options for digital signature and
System signature with authorization by user ID and password (We use this currently)
Digital User signature with verification - (We would like to use this with AD userid/password, so the system still ask the users their AD userid/password for the authentication when they try to "sign" a document.)
    User signature without verification
Do you think there is a way to configure the system in order to ask and check the active directory userid/password instead of SAP R/3 password? Where can I found documentation about it ?
I have several different versions of AS ABAP starting from NW 7.02 to NW 7.31.
My active directory is based on Windows 2008.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Dhee

Actually enabling Kerberos for SSO purposes and enabling Kerberos for digital signatures are two different topics although the latter is because of the former. I'm interested in the topic as well and I'm currently looking at different options. SAP provides a BAdI for the digital signature API which can be used for external authentication but they do not provide the solution to invoke Kerberos authentication based on username and password. SAP provides a semi solution with NWSSO 2.0 SP2 which works only on Windows with classic dynpros meaning SAP GUI for Windows is assumed. The solution is based on an ActiveX component which does the actual Kerberos authentication using the Secure Login Client which is part of the NWSSO suite. Extending that implementation to non-Windows and non-GUI applications would require some sort of web enabled service that could be used to authenticate the user with username and password. In case authentication is successful, a Kerberos token would be returned to SAP which would then be validated. All the required pieces are there since SAP has Kerberos support now in both stacks of the NetWeaver Application Server, some bits are still missing though which leaves customers looking at 3rd party or custom solutions.

  • DD 5.1 Surround Workflow to create TS file for Digital Cinema

    I need a little help.
My objective is to create a test file for digital cinema. The client requires at the end a TS DD 5.1 mpeg HD file....
I have tried creating the project in Premiere CS4, which is straight forward. The issue I have is in the export. I have been using the surcode plugin. The first question I have is in the routing of the channels. I can only seem to create a Premiere project with the layout of L,R,Ls,Rs,C,LSE where as the surcode only gives you the layout option of L,R,C,LSE,Ls,Rs, which I believe is the industry standard...so I have no idea if the plugin will read the channel allocation correctly.
However, my bigger issue is that I'm not able to export a TS file from Premiere. There is an option to do so, but when I try that with the surcode plugin, the media encoder just crahses...
I have been able to create a single 5.1 surround mpeg file from Premiere with the surcode plugin, but its of no use to the client..and I can't think of a way that would turn it into a TS file that would keep the 5.1 DD.
I have many questions, and there are many things I don't understand...so if anybody is able help at all that would be wonderful.
    Many thanks

What will be the playback medium of this file? How will you deliver the file? Will the client be playing the file on a computer, or on a Home Theater system? Does the client want, or need, a visual signal, as well, or it just the Audio signal that is important?
The best delivery system that I can think of is to create your material in PrPro in a 5.1 SS Project. Unless the client is looking for just the Audio with no Video, handle the two as separate, in that once your mixing is done, you will Export the Audio as an MPEG file, in the AC3 format, with the DD 5.1 SS encoding from the Minnetonka Audio SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in. Export the visual material (Video) as a DV-AVI Type II elemental stream. Go to Encore, and Import the DV-AVI as a Timeline, then the AC3 as an Asset. From the Project Panel, drag the AC3 to the respective Timeline, and author a DVD. You can have menus for navigation, if needed, or just make the single Timeline your First Play, with no Menus. If you want it to Loop, set its End Action back to itself and it'll loop until the user hits Stop. Once the layout is as you wish, you have two choices:
Burn to a DVD disc for delivery, or Burn to Folder. The former will get your 5.1 Audio (and Video) onto a common DVD for play on the computer or in a Home Theater system. The latter will yield the VIDEO_TS folder with the necessary files contained within this folder. The Audio & Video will be in a .VOB format, but will be in MPEG-2 form. Note: this will be a DVD-Video disc, and playable in any DVD player. Whether one hears the Audio in stereo, or in SS, will depend on the capabilities of their playback system. Because it IS a DVD-Video it MUST contain Video. Now, this could be anything you choose, from Titles with instruction, to Black Video (I'd create this for real, rather than rely of purely the systhetic Black Video from Premiere - more on this, if you need it), to abstract patterns of your design, or choosing.
Now, if one needed just the pure MPEG-2 file, outside of the VIDEO-TS structure for playback on a computer only, you could take the .VOB and rename its extension .MPEG, instead of .VOB. Still, the playback channels would be solely dependent on the equipment the file was played on. The software player might figure into this, as well, because it must have the capability to process DD 5.1 SS signals. Check out any software player that your client will be using. If you deliver the DVD-Video disc, mentioned above, a DVD software player will be required. Most computers today come with one, and most of these are DD capable, but again, it depends on the hardware on the computer, and how it's configured, that will determine if one hears the Audio in stereo, or in DD 5.1 SS.
Before I launched off doing anything, other than editing and mixing, I would ask some very specific questions. As Harm points out, there is no TS "file," but a TS "folder." This would be a red flag for me, indicating that the client might be confused, or know just a little and not quite get the full picture. This would dictate to me, that I need to ask some other questions and phrase them in a way that yielded useful info and instructions to me.
1.) Exactly what equipment will you wish to play this material (don't start talking files yet)?
2.) Is this equipment capable of playing Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound?
From the answers to those two questions, you can then start filling in the blanks.
If the client wants something to drop into a DVD player, hooked up to a DD 5.1 SS capable system, then you’re home free. If they want something that will play on a computer, Ask these questions:
1.) What computer software will you use to play this material (still no mention of file)?
2.) Is the computer equipped for DD 5.1 SS decoding and playback?
These answers will direct you even more. If you get proper answers of, say CyberLink PowerDVD of #1 and "yes," for #2, go on to the next set of questions:
1.) Can I deliver this material on a DVD-Video (the format and medium of commercial DVD’s)? Note: this will be a DVD that will play on a computer with proper software, or a Home Theater system, and will contain both Video and Audio. The client can turn the TV, or .computer’s monitor off, if they do not wish to view any Video signal, or you can create Black Video so there is nothing to see. With this delivery format, there has to be a Video stream, but it can be black.
2.) Can I deliver this material on a Data DVD? Point out that a Data DVD will only play on a computer and not on a set-top player through the TV and a Home Theater’s Audio system. Some people do not know the difference, and you cannot trust your client to, unless you specifically ask them.
If the answer to #1 is "no," and the answer to #2 is "yes," go on to the next question:
If I deliver this material to you on a Datat DVD, will an MPEG-2 file with DD 5.1 SS be acceptable? If so, I'd still do the Burn to folder to get the .VOB and rename it to .MPEG. Test this file on your system. A .VOB can contain a lot of things, but yours was created with no Menu or other material, so it should be just the pure .MPEG-2 file. Still, test, before you deliver.
Now, on the off chance that your client needs something like an SACD, or DVD-Audio, you will be shopping for software. Before you do, I’d post to the Adobe Encore forum and ask Neil Wilkes for his suggestions for the creation of DVD-Audio discs. Believe every word he types and follow his recommendations to the letter.
Good luck, and if you need more detail, or other suggestions after you query your client, please ask,
    Hunt
[Edit] I see that you also mention "HD." This will mean either a BD (Blu-ray Disc) for delivery, or a BD folder, Burned to a DVD-Video. If you will have HD Video material, your best going the full BD route. If you only will have Audio, the "HD" will not come into play. What exactly do you mean with the term "HD?" This can make a world of difference.
[Edit 2] Sorry about the formatting in the second paragraph. I cannot seem to get it to display properly, though it looks perfect in the editing screen.

  • Programmatically Accessing Self Sign in Plug in for Digital Signature

    Hello There,
We are looking forward to use “Adode Acrobat 9 Pro – Self Sign in Plug in” for one of the application to digitally sign PDF document i.e. appending signature to existing PDF document. We have gone through Adobe site (http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/download/attachments/52658564/samplesignatures.pdf?version=1 ; http://www.adobe.com/ap/epaper/tips/acrsignatures/ ) and explored “Tips and Techniques” along with screenshots.
We would like your help on following queries:
    ·         Can we programmatically from C#.NET access Adobe Object and create certificate for digital signature? If Yes, can you please provide pointers, references and sample code snippets? [We understand that we do not need to purchase SDK as Professional would be sufficient for digital PDF signature]
    ·         Does Adobe Pro installer provide DLL which can be leveraged in Code base i.e. C#.NET?
    ·         How does certificate management work for digital signing? Can third party like verisign, local computer / certificate from organization server work for digital PDF signature?
    ·         Please provide Technical Reference manual to use Adobe from C#.NET
    ·         Can you please throw some light and pointers on Licensing and Cost?
We are running on a deadline hence your quick help and response will be highly appreciated.

  • Can't change sample rate for digital input on Mac Pro

    Hello all,
on my Mac Pro with 10.4.10 I can't change the sample rate for the digital input. Whenever I choose 48000 or 96000 Hz it returns to 44100 Hz after a few seconds. Feeding a 24 bit/96000 Hz signal from an external ADC into the optical input doesn't help. No input signal is available for digital recording software such as Sound Studio or Cubase. After changing the sample rate in audio midi configuration to 96000 Hz the sound can be heard for a few seconds but when the setup returns to 44100 automatically the signal is, of course, lost.
I've deleted all relevant preferences and restarted with resetting paramter RAM. Still the same. With external hardware such as M-Audio Firewire equipment setting the sample rates works properly.
Thanks to all for helpful clues.

    Hi,
when E&M signaling is configured on digital interface like the VWIC is, 2 or 4 wires operation is not applicable because there are no wires at all, and reported only for compatibility with the analog E&M card.
Consequently, you cannot configure that and it will not make any difference to effect of the connection.
Please rate post if it helps!

  • Is SharePoint Enterprise Needed For Digital Signatures?

    Hey SharePoint Fam,
Had a request come in for Digital Signature use and was wondering is this even possible without Enterprise version?  We are on Standard 2010 version......
    Thanks n advance

Waqas is right, you can use digital signatures with SharePoint Standard.
    More information on the
    CoSign Connector for SharePoint.
CoSign offers free trials for integrating digital signatures with SharePoint:
    1. A private SharePoint site for your personal use, with CoSign installed, on a SharePoint server run by CoSign.
    2. You can then request an on-premises trial copy of the CoSign Connector for SharePoint to try it on your own server.
In addition to being a standard, open solution, digital signatures from CoSign enable your documents never have to leave your network during the signing process.

  • Save method for digital signatures

Hi - I have several thousand forms all set up for digital signatures, which I use for locking down the form fields (render read-only). This works fine. The problem I have is that when a user digitally signs the form, they automatically get asked to Save As - with a default location on the local machine. Can this be changed to allow the user to simply save and overwrite the form in its original location. Of course there is a danger with doing this, but users with document/case management systems do not necessaritly know where to save the document, so basically they want to open up the form from their CMS/DMS, complete it, digitally sign it and simply save (automatically back in the location they launched it from.
Does anyone know where I can even look - I have trawled the registry, the digital signature settings, etc, but no luck.

Hi - these are all reader extended through Livecycle ES Reader extensions and are signed by users in Reader. What I am asking is if anyone has an idea where this behaviour is declared, so that I can change it.
