Calibrating two screens identical

I have an 24" iMac, about a year old, and a 2-3 yr old Eizo Flexscan L767 attached as a extra screen. I do a lot of photography, so want my screens calibrated.
I use a gretagMacbeth calibration gadget and Eye One software.
After calibration, my iMac screen still looks a lot brighter and more saturated then the Eizo screen.
I consulted a learned friend who suggested the following:
The reason (probably) your monitors look different is because each monitor requires a separate LUT (look up table) to hold the profile you make for it. Once both monitors are properly profiled they should be very similar. LUT’s are provided by your graphics card. Some only have one, some have two. One is more common, especially the built in graphics cards..
The most important thing to find out is does your graphics card have two LUT’s? Maybe you can look this up or ask Mac support? And if not lets look into what graphic card will. Chances are you can use the current graphics card for one monitor (built in monitor) and just get a inexpensive secondary card for your EIZO.<
End of first quote.
I am not a techie, so wonder if anyone can tell me here if my card supports 2 LUTs?
My card is : ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro:
Full details at the end of this post.
further comment from my friend:
<div class="jive-quote">The problems I’ve had with ATI cards is the driver support. Always issues. Then I went to Nvidia which is mostly a gaming card, but it has excellent drivers. No more issues. I put in one 7950GT card.. discovered it only had one LUT (even though it had two DVI outs), so I got another and now I run two graphics cards. . Same model/series graphics cards, same model/series monitors. I use the second DVI to run non-color profiled devices like my 50” HDTV (for family slide shows) and DLP projector.<</div>
So if my Ati has only one LUT, is it possible to replace it with one that supports 2 LUT, OR can i add another one?
In terms of my service options, I live in Thailand, bought my iMac in Bangkok, and have it serviced there. But since I know and understand little of Graphics cards and LUT's, passing on this issue to a service person with limited english may be a problem.

Thanks Pete,
I have an Eizo so will have to use that.
I spoke to my Apple dealer a few days ago, and he said that, contrary to what Nicholas wrote above, the Graphics card does NOT support two different LookUpLists. Two computer will give them different names, but when you look at the two profiles it produces, you will see that the numbers are actually mostly the same. Except for two strings of ASCII code, but they are likely to represent text identifying the monitor. I assume that unless I tell my computer which specific profile to use, it will choose the last one, which means that if today the last screen profiled is the iMac screen, my Eizo will also display according to the iMac calibration. This may well be a good explanation for some uneven printing I have been experiencing lately.
Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be useful if actual Apple tech staff would have an input in this board, as tech staff on other brand related boards sometimes have.

  • One of my two screens stays off after coming from standby - OSx 10.10.2 MacMini

    When 'reviving' my macmini after not using it for a while one of my screens stays black (The screen stays off so there is no contact from the mac). Even after logging in again the screen stays black.
    I can get it to work again by disconnecting both screens and plugging them back in, but that is not a real solution of course. Also, after switching the position of the screens the other screen stays off, so the problem should be in the connection.
    I've got a relatively new MacMini with OSx 10.10.2 and have the two screens (same size but not identical) attached via two 'mini displayport to DVI adapters'.
    Does anyone have any idea what can cause this?

    Hi Snery,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I know you have already started some troubleshooting for this situation where your second monitor is not connecting when you wake your Mac mini from sleep. To continue this troubleshooting process, I would suggest reading over and working through the steps in the attached article to help isolate and resolve this issue.

  • I have two screen on my PC. Adobe always opens on the second screen. I would like to change this. Ho

    I have two screens on my PC Adobe always opens on the second screen. How do I change this to open on the first screen.

    It should (should) stay where you close it from, especially if you have it maximized on that monitor. I can't guarantee that because I'm having the same problem with Firefox this morning. I always open it on my secondary montior, and today it will only open on the primary.

  • How can I use two screens to display one window

    Before Mavericks, MAC OS allowed you to use two screens (next to each other) in order to display one (big) window of one application.
    That would mean that a window would start on your left screen en would continue on the right screen.
    With Mavericks, however, this not possible any more. The window of the application can only be seen on ONE of the screens (i.e. the left one).
    Can any one tell me whether I've missed certain options or how to adjust my settings in order to get this feature back?

    Hey CGNL,
    First, if you haven't already, set up the displays as an extended desktop:
    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Arrangement.
    Follow the onscreen instructions.
    Then, use Mission Control preferences to uncheck/turn off the option for "Displays have separate Spaces":
    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Mission Control
    Uncheck "Displays have separate Spaces"
    That should enable you to stretch whatever window you want across multiple displays.

  • How can I open two screens of Adobe digital editions at the same time?

  • I have recently installed Mavericks and since then I have been unable to shut down or log out of my mac.  I work with two screens and now I seem to have programmes at the top of both screens which I didn't before.  any advice?

    I have recently installed Mavericks on my desk top and since then I have been unable to switch off my computer without crashing it. I work with two screen and now I seem to have the menu bar on the second screen as well which I did not have before.  Can you please help me?

    Dr Bettina, I had similar problems with Mavericks. I installed it on a Mini and a 13" MacBook Pro. I can't speak to your disdplay issues, but I can confirm the inability to logout, shut down, or restarft without a forced, power button shut down. I can also report frequent System Prefs freezes and finder issues, like folder contents taking half a minuite or more to render, or not appearing at all. And while a few Adobe CC apps actually ran faster, InDesign ran like molasses uphill in Decemner.
    I tried uninstalling or disabling numerous 3rd party apps and pref panes. I unplugged everything but the keyboard, ran DiskWarrier, repaired permissions, did fsck -f, trashed various preference files, reinstalled the OS... You name it, and I tried it — short of a potion using eye of newt.
    After two days of totally hosed productivity, I restored OS 10.8.5 on the Mini so I could actually get some work done. However, I've decided to leave Mavericks on the MBP as a sort of crash dummy, and will install and thoroughly test all updates until stability has been achieved. Then — and only then — will I upgrade the Mini to Mavericks, even if it means waiting 'til a .2 or even .3 update.
    Good luck to you...

  • Can we display the selected fields in two screen?

    HI friends i have got a problem where i am have two screen 1000 and 102.
    In 1000 screen i have got 2 push buttons display and cancel
    if i click display by giving emp_id then module and email has to be display for which i have given code as...
    MODULE STATUS_1000 INPUT.
    WHEN 'DISPLAY'.
       SELECT SINGLE NAME EMP_MODULE EMAIL
         FROM ZRIF_TABLE
        INTO (ZRIF_TABLE-NAME, ZRIF_TABLE-EMP_MODULE, ZRIF_TABLE-EMAIL)
        WHERE EMP_ID = ZRIF_TABLE-EMP_ID.
    this code is working according to the requirement
    But the same requirement is there in another screen(102) where if i click emp_id then name emp_module and email has to be displayed but it is not working with the above code.
    Caution is i will be having the same emp_id name and module in the same screen before wht it has displayed.
    To be clear request sent by details like emp_id name module
    request sent to emp_id name and module.
    code in 102 screen..
    CASE SY-UCOMM.
    WHEN 'EXIT'.
    CALL SCREEN 100.
    WHEN 'DISPLAY'.
       SELECT SINGLE NAME EMP_MODULE EMAIL
         FROM ZRIF_TABLE
        INTO (ZRIF_TABLE-NAME, ZRIF_TABLE-EMP_MODULE, ZRIF_TABLE-EMAIL)
        WHERE EMP_ID = ZRIF_TABLE-EMP_ID.
    endcase.
    endmodule.

    you should store data into a global structure (at program level) and display fields from this unique structure on various dynpros
    also this will be better than using the table name as structure name and will avoid to select from a field of the same structure...

  • I would like to connect a monitor to my mac to use two screens, what cord will I need?

    I would like to connect a 'non mac monitor' to my mac to use two screens, what cord will I need?

    Have you found your question yet?
    Well as you can tell this isn't very active especially when your asking a question in a cross platform trouble shooting forum.
    You don't say what computer you have so no one can even guess, you should put the model/year of the computer your on and the Mac OS version your using into your profile so we can help you better. (Example, 2010 MacPro, OS10.6 and Windows 7.)
    Try here and pick your computer to get more help. Click on the Communities link and then the Discussions link and you should find a post that has already asked your question or you can search and you should find a bunch also.
    From what I understand your Mac needs to support dual monitors and you need to have 2 video ports available and just get an adapter if needed for the connection between the computer and the monitor.

  • Two screens although there is no second connected

    Hi,
    I recently discovered that my 2008 Mac Pro (connected to a 30" Apple Display, Mountain Lion 10.8.4) shows two screens when I log in with screen sharing. I then tested it on the machine itself and yes, there was a second screen (800x600) in the upper right corner "virtually connected" to my MacPro - although there is just the 30" display physically connected.
    This phenomena reappears even after a restart.
    No, there is no second display connected via AirDisplay or so. When I look into the system profiler there is
    It doesn't bother me but I still want to understand it. And maybe even disable it.
    Any ideas?
    This is a screenshot of the sharing session (the rectangles are inserted by me before uploading, they are not artifacts. Actually is it a screenshot of a movie).
    Thanks in advance for any ideas!

    Hi Malcolm,
    yes it is.

    After further scrutiny your solution solved the mouse problem of going left to right.  But now the home screen problem.  Display two on the right still has the dock below and the menu bars.  Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Manage two screens

    Hello,
    I just start to learn java. One of my projects is to create an application that uses two screens.
    Have somebody already done something with this kind of configuration ?
    Some more details :
    On my first screen (monitor) I would like to have the main application and on the second screen (monitor) I would like to have a other window that will display information to a customer.
    So I would like to set the position of the two windows.
    I already try to understand the Window class and GraphicalEnvironment, but I can't get a solution.
    Thanks for you help.
    Bernard

    I hope the following method helps:
    void showFrame(int preferredWidth, int preferredHeight) {
    Toolkit toolkit = getToolkit();
    Dimension dimension = toolkit.getScreenSize();
    // ensure preferred width fits user's monitor
    if (preferredWidth > dimension.width) {
    preferredWidth = dimension.width;
    // ensure preferred height fits user's monitor
    if (preferredHeight > dimension.height) {
    preferredHeight = dimension.height;
    pack();
    setBounds( (dimension.width-preferredWidth)/2,
    (dimension.height-preferredHeight)/3,
    preferredWidth, preferredHeight );
    setVisible(true);
    }

  • I work on two screens. With the new updates, my computer will not automatically open a new window on the second screen.

    I work on two screens. With the new updates we cannot automatically open a new window on the second screen, but have to move them over manually. Not a huge problem, but because of the nature of the work, it gets tedious.

    Hi Annowriter,
    Thank you for your question, I understand that it is annoying to have to move a new window to the second screen. Since it opens in the active screen this may have been a stored preference, however it is not the default.
    There is an add on called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/monitor-master/ Monitor Master] that customizes settings like this. Check it out.

    After upgrading to Aperture 3 I had to 'upgrade' all files. When this was done, there was an Aperture 3 library and the original Aperture 2 library. Are the two libraries identical and can I safely trash the Aperture 2 library?

    If the upgrade completed successfully and you are running Aperture 3 on the converted library and you're sure all the images that were in the old library are in the new library then you could delete the Aperture 2 library.
    However I'm the paranoid type and when it comes to deleting images I'm always hesitant. If you can fine a place to archive the old library that  would be your a better option.
    At a minimum I would keep the old library around for a month or so after switching to Aperture 3 just to make sure in case something pops up.

  • Hi everyone, I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support a multiple monitor set-up (additional two screens)? If so what do I need and are there any draw backs?

    Hi everyone,
    I have just purchased a new iMac 27. Is this device able to support multiple monitor set-up (an additional two screens)? I am not a gamer, so require the set-up for 'office suite' type work and video viewing. if the set-up is possible, what would I need, is it pretty straight forward and are there any draw backs?
    Thank you.

    I just purchased the same imac. I connected the other displays using a thunderbolt to dvi adapter and it works fine.
