Calibration error with ColorVision Spyder2express

Need help:
I have a ColorVision Spyder Express which I have had for over a year.
Also have a eMac Computer.
I have calibrated my computer at least 5 successful times.
Today - the first calibration (after a 3 months) I received no indication of an error. However, the colour of photos in Lightroom were very bright ( faces had a sort of an orange tinge)
I thought I would undertake another calibration. This time I received the following message:
" Sorry, there was a problem calculating the correction curve for the display"
As Photoshop Elements on opening also provided me with the following message:
" The monitor profile "Spyder2express" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration"
This I did - However, the same message as the first message came up re-error.
Not only that - all the colours on computer have gone ballistic. The Photos in Lightroom are unable to be reviewed as they seem to look like negatives, but in colour. The colours on the desktop and mail have gone the brightest colours. like shocking pink and psychodelic.
Hopefully somebody will come up with a way to remedy this problem.
By way I have the monitor on for at least an hour prior to calibration in the correct Lighting conditions specified in User Guide.
thank you
Sue

Contact ColorVision. I've found them to be very responsive and most helpful.
If your monitor has not gone defective, there's a chance the Spyder did. They will be able to tell from the serial number if it's one that should be replaced.

  • Satellite A200-1M8 PAE6E: CD/DVD drive issue - power calibration error

    Hi,
I have an Satellite A200-1M8 ( or A200 PAE6E ) with Vista and for some time I've been trying to burn some dvds which I failed due to power calibration error.
I tested my DVD-ROM and it works normally, the problem is it does not read (recognise) every dvd.
Is there anyone who can help me out about this?
Or how can I learn which type of media my DVD-ROM would read?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I think I have founded an interesting article for you:
[Is there a list of supported type of CD-R/-RW or DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW/-RAM discs which should be used?|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=36]
But generally a power calibration error means that its the media is faulty or not compatible with the drive.

  • Qosmio G20: Can not burn CD's but only DVD's - power calibration error

    Hi
I'm having some trouble and i think it's very strange.
    I can't record audio or data cd's!
i've used sonic reducer, as nero, as windows media player..tried 3 different brands of cd'r and i can't burn audio or data files in any of those..BUT...on the other hand i can burn DVD'S...this is very strange right?
Ps: when i record with nero i keep having this message on the relatory of the burning process : "power calibration error" but only i when i try to burn cd´s.. dvd's recording doesn't have this problem
do i need to update some drivers?
please any help would be super or i will have to make a big trip to solve the problem on the laptop shop.
    regards

"Power calibration" - When burning a CD the drive tries to write a test signal to the disk to set the calibration of the laser. If it cannot write a readable signal, this is called a "power calibration error". The error message usually means that there is something wrong with the media.
Please try to use few different empty CDs (Verbatim, TDK, Maxell and others).
    Check also this page http://www.cd-burner-help.com/power-calibration.htm
    Maybe helps.
    Good luck!!!

  • M30-842: Power Calibration error while burning DVD-RW

I have faced a problem with my M30-842. Several times I have tried to erase burned on my laptop DVD-RW and Nero would say "Burn process failed. Power calibration error". So I cannot erase or continue multisession DVD-RWs.
    Burning CDs is ok.
Please help me with the problem, how can I solve it? SOS!
    Semen

    Hi Semen
Can you please try to use roxio software built into Windows XP? There is also the same option. It will be interesting to know if this problem is caused by software that you use or if there is some malfunction of your device.

If You can - try to get an as slow burning versions x1 or x2 - x16 can be problematic
(alternative is to make a DiskImage of Your DVD project - standard in iDVD 5 and onwards.
In iDVD 4 You need to do a Hack and use a program named HPfurz, install it and follow instr.
Then when You have a working DiskImage - burn this at (x1 or) x4 with Apple Disk Util tool or
Roxio Toast™ if You got this.)
    Else
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides. Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named.
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.

    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

  • Calibration Error Photosmart D7160

After several days of not being used my HP Photosmart D7160 printer decided that it was time for an alignment when I turned it on. Pressing the OK button as instructed (white paper was in the tray ready to be printed) resulted in a page being fed to the printer, a couple of second pause, and then the blank paper was fed through and the error message "Calibration Error" at the top of the original alignment needed window showed up. Pressing the OK button resulted in a repetition on the above paper feed-through. Pressing the Cancel button on the front of the printer breaks the cycle.
Going to the tools menu and choosing Align Printer produces the same results.
Looking for help in this forum turned up little help except
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00720653&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=1153494&tmp...
But before I had read the helpful page I tried the other tool options to see what did work. Display Ink Gauge did show two ink cartridges much lower that the rest. Print Sample page took a while to print a nice photograph of star fish. The alignment must not be very bad.  Print Test page printed out more than you ever wanted to know about internal settings of the printer and a set of ink squares. Obviously all the cartridges worked well so the next function, Clean Printhead, was not needed.
The last function was Align Printer which proceeded to work perfectly despite the previous troubles! Something had decided to work. Something outside my control was triggered by all that printing. The scheduled maintenance was done and now I can turn my printer on and off without error messages.

Well, since you are interested I tried to align the printer again just to check and the printer errored out.
My electronics background favored the dirty cartridge contacts possibility mentioned in the reference given in the first post. I have a typewriter eraser with a coarse rubber eraser on one end and a brush on the other. It is good at removing dirt from contacts. All the ink cartridges were done. Most showed that some sort of tarnish was removed. Two cartridges had a contact that did not lie in the plane of the other contacts. The alignment test did not work again.
Then the trick of doing everything on the tools menu on the way down to alignment was tried. The printed results all look good. The Clean the Printhead step was also done this time. After each test the alignment test was retried and failed.
Following the reference we are now at Step Five: Clean and reseat the cartridges. Each cartridge had its contacts wiped with a Q-tip dipped in 3% hydrogen peroxide to remove all organic matter. The contacts inside the printer were also wiped but they all looked in good condition. The align test failed.
Step Six: Reset and relocate the product was not done because the printer is plugged into an uninterruptable power unit and there is no other place to put a printer in this room.
Step seven: Service the product may be done in the future but right now the printer works well. The alignment test will be retried after each cartridge is replaced with a new HP cartridge with cleaned contacts.
    No solutions here.

  • DR4-A power calibration error??

I bought 50 units of Maxell MXL RG01 dvd-r:s. They are on the recommended disk -document. Everytime I try to burn them with Nero 6, Process goes to 1 percent and I get error message "Power calibration error". I'm having a new Firmware(2.50) installed. Can anyone tell me what's wrong, because MSI doesn't reply my e-mails?

    Hi All
I just wanted to post some information on the "Power Calibration Error" on the DR8-A2. There are quite a few posts on this subject and yes this error can occur if you are using incompatible media, but if you have been using the media without any problems in the past and then you suddenly start receiving this error then it's not the media at fault and also not the software you are using.  You can try a "DVD Lens" cleaner the wet or dry version and it may work but I have personally found that when you have the "Power Calibration Error" problem these cleaners will not work for the DVD writer.  They do work well for DVD players and DVD ROM drives so don't get me wrong.  The reason so many people get the "Power Calibration Error" on the DR8-A2 drive is really due to the fact that the drives dust proof mechanism is poor and the dust builds up on the lens.  Remember if you get the "Power Calibration Error" when you try a new media then it probably is the media.  Only try the fix given below on the drive if you receive this error on your normal media which you have been using in the past without any problems.  I have now had the problem 3 times and the drive is only 4 months old but have managed to get round it every time.  Although my drive was in warranty I had to break the warranty seal as I didn't have time to take the drive back for exchange.  You will need to open your drive and you will void the warranty so only do this if you are confident enough to do so and at your own risk.
    You will need the following...
    A) Screwdriver to remove your drive.
    B) Computer cotton swabs - (Others may leave cotton deposits so not recommended)
    C) Lens / Head Care Solution - (One that contains ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL)
    D) Paper clip - (Or something of a similar size to eject drive)
I have gone into detailed instruction only for the benefit of people who have never opened up a CD/DVD drive, obviously people with the experience can skip to step 5 in the instructions.
    Instructions...
    1) Philips screwdriver to open your PC and remove your drive.
    2) Straighten the paper clip and insert it into the "Emergency Drive Eject" hole to eject the drive tray a quarter of the way out and remove the front panel from the tray by unhooking the clips underneath and then sliding up.
    3) Now remove the drives front panel by pressing down on the clips and sliding forward.
    4) Remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the drive and then turn the drive over to slide up the top panel of the drive.
    5) Here’s the delicate bit, you will really need to be very gently now, place 2 or 3 drops of the lens leaner onto the tip of the cotton bud and then very gently wipe the lens side to side. Do not push down on the lens too hard and don’t clean it using up & down strokes.  Do this 8 to 10 times.  Then get a clean cotton bud and do this once more.
    6) You can now put your drive back together in reverse order and the system should work without giving a "Power Calibration Error".
I hope this helps, I have done this several times now on my own systems and for friends and family, it has worked for me every time.  Like I said earlier the dust mechanism is poor on these drives and in a few weeks time you will need to clean the lens again.

  • Error message - power calibration error

We are experiencing a power calibration error message when the studetns are buring their edited projects to DVD. Can you give me any advice?

Moost often, this is due to cheap media, or an incompatibility between the write speed of the media and your drive.
You might try building the project to a folder on the hard drive and burning a disc of that with toast, which allows you to chooose different burn speeds.

  • Re: Satellite L30-105 Vista - Power Calibration Error - need new firmware

    Hey there guys =)
Ive got a Satellite L30-105 running a 32-bit Vista. And even if i try several different burning softwares (Imageburn, Nero), and with TDK-cds, I get a error from the burning softwares, saying "POwer Callibration Error".
    The Satellite L30-105 (Article number PSL33E-02S026N5), uses a cd/dvd burner called MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-850S
I am wondering, can i download and install new drivers for my dvd-drive???
i am also gonna try to buy this "cleaning-cd", to try to clean the lense. cause i bought the laptop in 2007... so its like grandma..
But do u guys have any other what might be wrong?? Is it expensive to get a new cd/dvd-drive for this laptop???
    Cheers and thank u!

    Hi
Power calibration error means that the ODD laser lens cannot calibrate in the right position.
Usually this has nothing to do with an drive firmware but with the hardware problem.
In most cases the CD/DVD drive must be replaced.
Im not sure how much an new CD/DVD drive could be but fact is that you cannot use any CD/DVD drive
You need an compatible one and such compatible and supported drive could be ordered from an local ASP.
    greets

  • Odd Error with decode function in Order By Clause

I am trying to compile a procedure and can't get around an error with a dynamic order by that doesn't make much sense to me. I can repoduce the error with a plain select statment in sql plus so I can rule out a declaration error. Here is an example with 2 numeric columns and a date column.
    select task_id, display_date, remark_id from task_list
    where task_id > 1000
    order by decode('Task_ID', 'Task_ID',Task_ID, 'Display_Date', Display_Date, 'Remark_ID',Remark_ID)
    returns the error:
    select task_id, display_date, remark_id from task_list
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got DATE
I'm not sure why this error is occuring, because it doesn't even hit the Display_Date field in the Decode statment. If I take the Display_date out of the statement, it runs properly. If I change Display_Date to To_Char(Display_Date) it also runs fine, but the sorting is incorrect. Also I'm running 9.2, and do not want to use dynamic sql to build my query. Any Ideas out there as to the cause of this error?

I did find a workaround to this issue by breaking the decode statment into three separate statement, but I still think that the way it is written above should work, and may be a bug, or an error that I don't understand fully.
The Order by was rewritten like this:
    order by decode(pSort, 'Task_ID',Task_ID), decode(pSort, 'Display_Date', Display_Date),
    decode(pSort, 'Remark_ID',Remark_ID);
    Thanks

  • XML Publisher Error with reports published in XML publisher

    Hi All,
I am geting the following error with a report published using XML Publisher
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
The system cannot locate the resource specified. Error processing resource 'http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.d...
    How can i Rectify this?

    Hi Ark,
In order to generate a report using xml publisher. we need the following.
    1. XML Data
    2. Template file (RTF/PDF/..)
XML data will not be created by the template file.
We will be required to create XML data. One of the easiest way to create xml output is using the RDF. We can change the rdf output type in the concurrent program to XML.
Once the xml and the template is available, "XML Report Publisher" will be able to generate the output in the required format.
    Thanks,

  • Graphic problems/errors with Mainstage 3 and MBP (15'' 2011)

    Hi,
    I bought Mainstage 3 for my MBP (15'' 2011).
When i click con "perform" i get graphic errors.
I have the same issue with the old Mainstage version since Mountain Lion.
Also a fresh installation didn't help.
I think i'm not the only one with this issue!
I don't know how to report a bug?
    Perhaps someone can help me.
(and  I'm probably not the only one (see feedback in Apple Store) If you also have this problem, please add a comment with your configuration (Hardware, Software))
    /forgotten ebi
So, here an example how it looks like when i click on "perform":

Same configuration, same problem. BUT I found a workaround.
Mainstage has this error with the AMD video card and/or a second monitor connected.
With a little app (http://gfx.io)  it's possible to really force the MBPro to use the Intel Graphics card.
This will work only with the internal screen, not with a second screen connected.
And sometimes you need to restart, to really make the Intel video card free.
This works fine...In the meantime of a fix.
