Calibration of measuring equipments

Hi, How to maintain the calibration data in SAP using QM Module?Pls mention the t-codes related?

Hi,
Please follow the following prcoess flow
You can create a maintenance strategy(IP11) for the calibration of equipment mean to say in what frequency calibaration is carried out either monthly, weekly or yearly.
Assign this strategy to the task list.after that follow the process steps as explained.
Once scheduling is carried out in IP10,according to the strategy maintained in task list, system will generate maintenance calls.for example if calibration is carried out monthly and scheduling is done for the period of 12 months, system will generate 12 maintenance calls.once first call is finished do deadline monitoring(iw38),system will automatically created maintenance order for the second call.
Calibration flow almost follows the preventive maintenance cycle except inspection point is assigned in task list.
Process flow(assuming test equipment and master data created)
IA05- Create General Task list(Enter inspection point :300,operation,inspection charactertics to the operation, usage)
IP01-Create maintenance plan( Use maintenace startegy of plant, enter equipment, select general task list for plan the equipment, enter call horizon, planning cycle schduling period)
IP10-Schedule the plan Schedule the plan for the quantity with frequency defined in the plan.Which schdule the according to the schdule date.Schedule date generates pm order for the plan on due date.
IW33-Display order.
QE51-Calibration result recording for equipment- Gives status for result i.e ok or not ok.
QA11-Lot usage decision
IW41-Confirmation for the order.
Hope it helps

  • TPM, Predictive Maintenance and calibration of test equipments.

    hi experts,
can anyone explain me TPM, Predictive Maintenance and calibration of test equipments. Please clear my these concepts with domain knowledge.
    Thanks

TPM: Is Total productive maintenance. It is a standard tool used in different industries. TPM has many parts like preventive maintenance, preditive maintenance , 5S etc. The basic purpose of TPM is to increase the production and decrease the breakdown using 5S, preventive and predictive maintenaace and many other ty6pes of maintenence strategies like Root cause analysis, six sigma. so TPM is a broad term under which all the maintenance strategies, six sigma, 5S etc lies. To get knowledge about TPM here in SDN is not possible. Please follow this lik.
Predictive maintenance: it is the third step after the breakdown maintenace and preventive maintenance.
    The flow is as follows:
    Breakdown maintenance--Preventive maintenance--
    predictive maintenace.
TPM is used to move from breakdown maintenace to preventive maintenance and then tyo predictive maintenance.
Predictive maintenance is to predict the effect of any internal or external factor on machine or equipment and to take precautionary measure before that effect cause any effect on the machine. So to avoid the breakdown maintenance which result in close of plant and zero production , predictive maintenance is the best tool. But it is very hard to implemnt in practical maintenance scnerios.
Calibration of test equipments:  There are certain equipments in industries which need to be clibrated after a fixed time like 6 months , 2 years etc. Such type of equipment are temperature transmitters, sensors, pressure transmitter and sensor, Flow, level, moisture etc. Claibration is to set the instrument against a standard range which we get from master calibration instrument. these are called test equipments. In SAP PM  and QM we have to map that [process of calibration.
Take a example:  i have a temperature transmitter which i am using in milk industry for measuring the temperature of the milk. so When the temperature of milk is 50 degree celusis, the instrument must give me the output reading of 50 degree celseis. But after some time say 6 months the range and span and calibration of instrument get changed. So we need to calibrate it again to get the accurate reading. So we calibrate the indtrument with a standard transmitter.

  • Communicate between measurement equipments

I am pretty new to LabView, however, I was given a task in recent days.
The scenario is like this, we get two measurement equipments and one workstation, all of them are using labview and have IP addresses. I want my PC to get all measured data from these two measurement equipments directly, instead of using floppy as an carrier.
Thanks for your kindly time and help.

I suggest you to look into the examples shipped with LabVIEW: in the chapter Communication you will find the TCP/IP and the DataSocket chapters that I suppe will be useful for you.

  • Error 200077 during Strain Gauge Calibration in Measurement and Automation Explorer V5.3.1f0

    Hey Guyz!
I am experiencing a problem perfomring my shunt calibration using a 350ohm(GF 2) strain gauge connected with NI9949 and NI9237 in a NI cDAQ-9178 Hardware.
When i click on strain callibration under configuration-Device: R3 being my shunt of 100k ohm, i can measure the errors and calibration but when i hit the calibration tab, it gives me an error 200077 occured at Strain Gauge Calibration (see aatached jpeg file for the error type).
I don't know what is wrong, i have doublt-tripple checked my circuit, and have read the forums regarding the same error and have come across the "signal input range", in my case it is default kept at 1m max and -1m min. I am not sure how these values work.
    Any guidance would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
This error code may be occurring due to the specified signal input range in max (-1m to 1m), being set to a value outside of the expected readings from your strain gauge.
Also the Gage Factor, Gage Resistance, Initial Voltage, Vex Source, Vex Value (V), Lead Resistance and Strain Configuration need to be configured based on your sensor specification.
This link gives more details on connecting strain gages to a DAQ device:

  • An application for multi-channel measurements

Does NI have a software solution for multi-channel measurements? I mean systems for measurements, tests and monitoring which contain numerous DAQ devices with thousands of sensors.
I suppose the software for such system should have the following features:
    Instrument control
Sensor management (type, s/n, accuracy, calibration data, next calibration date, measurement limits, etc.)
    Data acquisition
    Storing data in databases
    Data visualisation and analysis
    Report generation
Tools for creating custom user interfaces / data visualisations for monitoring
As far as I know the DIAdem is great for data analysis, visualisation and report generation but it's not suitable for other tasks. With LabVIEW you can do anything but it's not an "out-of-the-box" solution.
Just to clarify what I'm talking about, here's an application that seems to fit the description. It's the HBM catman. Maybe someone worked with it? Do you know any analogues for it?

Just to add to Hooovahh's comments.
NI has flat out stated that they do not want to make turn-key solutions.  That would take away from them being able to make tools for people to create the solutions.  That is why they have alliance partners.  These partners take the tools made by NI and make really cool stuff.  My latest project was a software package that helped a technician build a jet engine correctly so that the turbine blades do not come out and destroy the engine (just slightly important).  I have also done some test systems for space craft avionics.
So if you are really serious about this, I highly recommend finding an Alliance Partner to help you out.  If you want, give me a PM and I can work on getting you and a few people on my side to discuss your requirements and proceed from there.

  • Printer not printing AND Matching Screen colors to Print colors.  Any advice is apreciated!!

Hello - I have 2 questions regarding  printing to an Epson and also regarding the monitor colors Not matching the print colors working from Photoshop CS4 on a Mac with a Maverick [ 10.9.3 ] OS. My issues are Not about my own printers or software.  I have been tutoring a friend via phone in Photoshop; he has CS4 and is working on Mac OS 10.9.3.
1- We found that he could print nearly fine [ nearly accurate colors ] from Lightroom on his computer, version 5.4.   But when he tries to print from Photoshop he cannot make a print.   There is clear communication between the computer and the printer, as, when he sent the file to print, the printer [ an Epson 3880 ] responded by automatically changing to Photo Black from Matte.  Then, it opens the rollers as if to print, but, it them stops and the menu [ on the Printer ] says 'Ready.'   The paper is 4x6” Moab Lasal paper 300gsm. This issue of Not printing is only with this Moab Lasal luster paper, for which he Does have the IIC profile, and we always make sure ‘Photoshop manages colors,’ not the printer. To address the issue of the printer Not printing at all using a non-Epson brand paper, we have tried seemingly everything from deleting and re-adding the printer from the Library / Printers, resetting everything [ printer   computer   software etc ], trying different settings in the Printer window and the Print Settings window. Including changing the media profile, platen gap, etc.
2- My other and more important question is – after we Do get a print, we cannot match the monitor color to the print. [ We havE been able to get a print using Epson brand paper.   Which is odd because we have the ICC profiles for both papers ]. To address the color matching issue, he has told me he calibrated the monitor with a Spyder, and here are a few other variables that I can relay that may or may not be affecting his color-issues:
He iS viewing his prints in a dayliglht-rated lighting environment
The monitor is an iMac glossy finish monitor, not an anti-glare
We tried working and printing from both an 8-bit and also a 16-bit color-space and also 16-bit printing
The color shift is slightly but noticeably toward Magenta.
    His printer is Not calibrated
Please let me know what else we can do, any known glitches that may be an issue with his older version of CS, any tips you can suggest.
    Thanks very much!

I don't have that printer and I'm not on Mac, so someone else has to step in there. Generally a green/magenta cast indicates none/double printer color management. But then I don't know what you mean by "slight".
The Spyders aren't the most consistent and reliable calibrators out there. I had a Spyder 3 sensor that I just threw away because it gave a distinct red cast (I have several other calibrators, so there was no doubt). Another potential problem is that with most calibrators you can only adjust the white point along the blue/yellow Kelvin scale, but not on the green/magenta scale. This is often necessary to get a good white point color. In this case you need to use the monitor's OSD controls, and if possible the "pre-calibration" function in the calibrator to measure and monitor it - if that function exists. And I don't know if this is possible with an iMac.
This is basically a question of getting the white point right, both on the blue/yellow and the green/magenta axis (and luminance of course). The goal is to get a visual match to paper white on screen. With the white point properly set, neutral color balance relates to that, and the rest more or less follows by itself. (In addition you should set the proper black point/contrast for full control, but that's not the issue here).

  • Grn creation at the time of service entry sheet

    Hi,
when created sevice entry sheet,Grn document also created automatically in sevice process for this any settings avilable?
    regards
    murali

    Hello,
Material document created at the time of accepting service entry sheet is standard SAP setting.
When you order a services thru service entry sheet, say for example you create a service order for calibration of measuring euipments. So after service completed that comes in your company you fill service entry sheet in ML81N, there you entrs services and accepting the same. and After accepting systems generates material document.

  • Hello Community...Macbook w 10.6.8 and I need printing help. Using three canon photo printers of same model and need them to print individually. They are older and NOT network-able. Currently using another Mac to print to 2nd printer. 3 is idle.

Is there software available where all I have to do is hit print and any of the 4x6 printers will print? Once I get this issue settled, I'll get a second larger format. I have to get this rectified because of time and ease. As mentioned, I have a second mac that I share screens with so my assistant can find pics for customers while I'm shooting. So, I can print through that mac to the printer. (ie....print to canon@##%#@Mac 2) I don't want to bring a third computer just to print to three of the same model printer. (That's what I've been doing) BTW....I totally know there are faster dye-sub printers out there but I'm about 4 more events from purchasing one...($$$) Some print under 10 seconds. I would appreciate any answers out there. Thank you.

  • Getting the same return string while reading multiple times from a GPIB instrument

I'm having problems reading data from a GPIB instrument.
I'm using a sequence similiar to this:
    1. Send a "MEASCALRES?" command to the calibrator to measure the current pressure.
    2. Read the result string sent from the calibrator.
    3. Send a "SYST:ERR:NEXT?" query to check if an error has occured.
    4. Recieve the error string from the calibrator.
When running the program, the error string sometimes contains the same data as the pressure reading. For example, if the calibrator's pressure output string was "1.0000000e2", the error string might be "1.0000000e2" or sometimes just "20, No Errors", with the extra "2" added to the normal "0, No Errors".
    The problem a
ppears to occure randomly, a rough estimate would be that it happens one time out of 50 readings.
Are there any relevant GPIB card settings I can change to fix the problem?

It looks to me that more data is send or data end is signalled to early by hte iocard.
Maybe you should check the gpib bus cable speed. The default is much too fast for almost all instruments. Put it on 2 microseconds (the slowest speed). And we always disable autopolling, to prevent asynchronous actions.

  • Determine if signal is changing?

    Quick question:
I am acquiring a simple voltage signal from a pressure sensor.  And I am building a simple LabVIEW GUI for calibrating the measurement.
For the calibration, I am applying a knopwn pressure to the sensor.  And then I want to use LabVIEW to detect if the signal has stopped changing ... e.g., detect if it has settled to a steady-state voltage.
Any tips on a quick way to calculate this?
I considered trying to fit a line to the last 5-10 seconds of data and then calculate the slope of the line ... if the slope is not very close to zero, then the signal has not flattened out.

Use some of the statisics functions.
There is a distribution calculation function for an array.
If you detect that the distribution is small enough to be considered 'steady-state'  you can take the mean.

    Hi,
inside MAX they don't appear cause it's not a product of National
Instruments. So take a look at the homepage from the manufacturer of your
PCI-DAS card. Perhaps they offer drivers for LabVIEW. Otherwise you have to
use the driver-DLL directly and make your own VI's around them.
Perhaps you could find some informations inside the developer-zone:

  • LXI & IVI Driver Technologies

    Dear all,
The IVI foundation defines standards for 8 different classes of instruments.
but all these instruments belong only to test & measurement category only.
shall we implment the same IVI concept to develop our own class of instrument ?
The LXI standard defines IVI programmatic technique should be implmented.
but if we develop systems other than test & measurement equipments, shall we use our own instrument class there ?
and whether we need to follow IVI in all implmentations of LXI like Triggering , Synchronization or only developing our instrument drivers ?
please spare some time & reply me.
    regards,
    Giri.

    Giri,
The selection between IVI and LXI depends on what your instrument is and what you are wanting to do. I would suggest that you look at the specifications and decide based on your goals and your instrument. Either way you will be creating your own driver so it depends also on what you would like to work with.
Here are some links to information about IVI drivers.

  • Thinkpad W500 screen - seems very dim. typical? faulty?

Having issues with the apparent brightness of my Lenovo W500 (suspected Samsung display) in reasonable ambient light levels,  I thought I'd try measuring the lux with a tool I found at  ->http://www.tuug.fi/~toni/serendipity/index.php?/archives/12-Luxus-light-meter-desktop-widget-for-N90...  -- just for a more objective, albeit uncalibrated view on brightness.
In each case I placed the proximity sensor directly over the panel, so it was around 5cm "in" from the edge & displayed an all-white window.
    Here's my rough results
    Lenovo W500 (full)                            R=083 L=063 T=060
    Dell 2005fp desktop (normal)                  R=151 L=155 T=142
    old? HP 17" 4:3 (normal)                      R=157 L=143 T=180
    Dell Studio 15 1920 laptop led (in dark room) R=104 L=111 T=110
    Dell Studio 15 1920 laptop led (full)         R=214 L=212 T=226
    Dell Studio 17 laptop led (full)              R=300 L=314 T=297
    ? HP 19" unknown (low lighting)               L=098 R=107 T=113
    ? HP 19" unknown (full)                       L=138 R=153 T=162
From this "comfortable" is IMO in the region 130-150 - the W500 fals way way below this.
    Has anyone else measured?
    What's reasonable?
I believe the spec is around 175-180 -- but that's obviously a calibrated test
The dell 2005fp is rated at 300 yet I score 150 above (though this is NOT on max, just normal)
The dell studio 17 is rated around 317 on full -- and the score above shows this as close
I can only conclude therefore my measurements are in the right ball park
The W500 is on full brightness & using the appropriate monitor.inf under win 7
What I should really do is have a proper colorimiter calibration and measurement done.
The "spec" of the W500 panel is 180-200 I believe - it's clearly not fair to use the numbers literally, but something is very very wrong.
Does this suggest my panel is faulty? To be honest I don't think I've seen a "good" W500 but I wonder if it meets the spec?
Anyone else fancy measuring a "current" laptop for comparison -- especially any other W500 owners (some of which have samsung panels, some have LG panels)

I no longer have W500 but I do remember screen being very dim. Notebookcheck measured a much higher value (130 on average?) even in comparison to other notebooks so I also suggest you try to get a replacement. I guess it is ok to use the manufacturer values when reporting a faulty screen.

  • QM query

    Hi all
we have a something like a portable smokedetection euipment, which can be used to measure emissions etc . If found satisfactory, a Certificate is given out to the customer, saying his device is allright and is in compliance with the regulations.
    The certificate given out has
    -date,customer #
    -equipment group/type/serial number/manufacturer
-calibration results ,(measurement out each sensor)
    Question is, how does one get such a certificate out in QM module ? {relation with service orders or Production orders, I do not where actually to start}
since being new, some feedback and documents on how to proceed will help.
    Thanks

    Hi Avijit,
I am giving just the steps to follow........
    Create the characteristics
Create class & assign the characteristics
Assign it to the material in your case the object for which you are checking the emission.
    Use material specification & MIC
    Create insp lot.
Result recording & UD to be done
Assign the MIC to the certificate profile.
Take the print out of the  certificate profile..
I have metioned the steps is very broard way .Do ler me know if you have any query in any step....

  • Color Management on MAC OS

Question: Currently, we are working on our HW Calibration SW on MAC OS. However, after we have applied our newly created profile as the default profile of the target display, the screen have changed. (For example, even if I have calibrated target display with 1.8 target gamma, if I apply our newly created profile as the default profile, the gamma of the target display have changed to 2.2 gamma.)
Is this situation is normal on MAC OS? Otherwise, is there anyway to prevent this situation? Even if I have applied Linear VGCT tag to our newly created profile, this situation was always happened. Is there any MAC OS API to disable or bypass the color management of MAC OS?
Please help me to find an answer of this situation.
Calibration Step of our Calibration SW for Hardware Calibration.
    Steps:
Set "Linear ICC Profile" profile which as the Default profile of target display.
Do Gamma Calibration (Find target Gamma value)
Do White point Calibration. (Find target Color Temperature)
Do Brightness Calibration (Find target Brightness)
    Check calibration result status.
Comment: After we complete to do calibration, our Calibration SW measured current status of target display whether it have reached to target Brightness, Gamma and Color Temperature or not.
Generate new ICC profile which applied current status of target display. (This profile contain Linear VCGT tag.)
Adjust "Newly created ICC profile" as the default profile of the target display.
Commrnt: The below problem was happened after the default profile have changed to Newly created profile.
    Problem:
After I configured this newly created ICC profile as the default profile, I have re-checked current status of target display. At this time the gamma value have returned to 2.2. (Example: Before I set newly created ICC profile, the current Gamma was 1.8, howver, after the newly created profile have configured to Default profile, the Gamma value have changed to 2.2)
Please give me any feedback about this situation? Is there any other MAC API to handle this situation? Otherwise, is this situation is normal in MAC OS environment?

I suggest posting this on the Aperture forum, that is where all the color management experts hang out.
