Calibration PXI-5761

Hello,
I need to calibrate a PXI-5761, is there a calibration procedure?
Thanks and best regards,

Hello rfraile,
There isn't a calibration procedure for the 5761. Can you describe what spec you are trying to calibrate and why?

  • Error during self calibration - PXI-4461

We are running Calibration Executive 3.2.  We are using a PXI chassis and controller and trying to calibrate a PXI-4461 card.
In running the procedure, we received the following error during Self Calibration:
Error 200718 occurred at DAQmx Self Calibration.VI at step self calibrate.
Any guidance in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

Here is the info from the calibration report.  I can email you a PDF of the report and also a screen capture of the error message which states: "Measurement taken during calibration produced an invalid AI gain calibration constant. If performing an external calibration, ensure that the reference voltage passed to the calibration VI or function is correct. Repeat the calibration. If the error persists, conatct National Instruments Technical Support.

  • FGEN error -1074115896

Can anyone please explain the error listed below? I'm using the PXI-5761 and the NI streaming API to stream float 32 IQ files. I've added code to the API to modulate the data while streaming. My options are no modulation, AM, or FM. I can stream the files perfectly with the selections of no modulation, FM, and AM-DSB. However, whenever I select AM USB or LSB I receive the error below. I've checked all of my array sizes when writing to the hardware and they are the same for all of my modulation selections. I've even tried setting the write location of my waveform handle manually to the start but I still receive this error.
"Error -1074115896 occurred at niFgen Write Waveform (Complex DBL).vi:
    Possible reason(s):
Driver Status:  (Hex 0xBFFA4AC8) DAQmx Error -200311 occurred:

Make sure you are not trying to write more data than your waveform can accomodate and that your write location and write offset are set correctly.

    Hi Chris,
I'll try to keep that in mind as it wasn't something I was really checking for in my code. However, just to experiment, I played a couple of files to get exact numbers on block sizes and such. It's not really possible for me to post code that would make any sense but I'm still basically following the ni.com/streaming API. I've just added AM and FM modulation to the incoming data from files. Anyways, here are some numbers for you that might make more sense of things.
My block size for writing samples to the Arb is initially 16384 samples. I needed to add upsampling for very low IQ rate files so I have an upsample factor that varies based on the sample rate of the file. For my test file the upsample factor was 5. So I am always writing to the arb with (16384)*(5)=81920 samples/block.  I set the number of blocks to be 5 so that the buffer size when I use the niFGEN Allocate Waveform VI I set the buffer size to (81920)*(5)=409600 samples. I'm writing to the arb using Complex Double data type for a total of 16 bytes in each IQ pair. So, after doing a manual math check It seems like I am writing to the arb as you've detailed. The only time I would expect to see that error is at the end of a file when the number of samples remaining does not equal the block size that I set. But I'm seeing the error long before the end of the file and only when I use AM-SSB. Playing the file out with no modulation, FM, and AM-DSB all work fine. What baffles me the most is that I'm always writing 81920 IQ samples to the arb regardless of modulation type.
(Just for more background information)...Using the same file I prime the arb with 409600 samples before I even start generating RF. Then, after initiated, the code checks to make sure that there is greater than 81920 samples of space available in memory before writing another block.
Let me know if you have any other thoughts,
    Thank You,

  • Calibrating PCI cards using Calibration Executive?

I am currently calibrating PXI cards using Calibration Executive (3.2.2) and a PXI-1050 Chassis, my company is getting ready to start buying PCI cards, specifically PCI-6542 and PCI-6713. What additional equipment will I need to purchase so that I will be able to calibrate the PCI cards? If the PC I am currently using does not have enough slots to accomodate additional cards is it necessary to buy another PC or is there a chassis that will let me calibrate the PCI cards outside of a PC?

    Hi Rick,
I went ahead and answered your other thread here.  We like to keep the questions on our forum to one thread to make it easier for future customers to search.

  • Step by step procedure to calibrate NI 4130 using Calibration executive 3.4

Our company just purchased Calibration Executive and other hardwares necessary in calibrating PXI 4130,4110 and PXI-6251/6259.
We currently have the following setup to calibrate our NI PXI 4130 SMU:
      • NI PXI 1042 Chassis
      • NI PXI 8108 Controller
      • NI PXI-4071 Digital Multimeter
      • NI APS-4100 Auxilliary Power Supply for PXI-4130
      • Fluke 5700a
Can someone give a step by step procedure to do calibration using the Cal Exe software? We found this manual http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/EB53C88E7EB640828625762400519455 but it isn't based on cal exe rather on the LabVIEW driver. Sorry, but we really have no idea on how to use it.
    Thanks in Advance!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Cris,
if you have Calibration Executive installed just start it and go to the Help menu and click Calibration Executive Help (or just press CTRL+F1). This help file will always be a good information source for you, it's a good practice to check it if you never calibrated the device you are about to calibrate.
If you have the software running open the drop down menu next to the Device Types label just below the menu bar and select PXI-4130 in your case. The Calibrate button will became active, please click it.
A wizard will pop up it will ask for different kinds of information about the "customer" of this calibration, than about the standards, then the environment (temperature and humidity) and at the last page about the board itself (serial number and DAQmx ID). You will know that you filled in everyrhing necessary on a page of the wizard when the next button becames active.
After the wizard the calibration will start with a warm-up (my recomendation is to wait and don't cancel) than CalExec will show you connection diagrams on how you should connect your instruments to the DUT (4130), of course you will have to connect the 5700 to the PC over GPIB.
The software will show you the progress and if the previous steps were passed or failed.
    I hope this helps!
    Best Regards

  • PXI-2548 relay module calibration

#1)  Where would I find the date when my PXI-2548 relay module was first calibrated?
#2)  Are there different ways to calibrate the this relay module and if so what are they?
#3)  How often should this relay module be calibrated?
    Thanks,
    Julian
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Julian,
The NI PXI-2548 does not require calibration because it does not have any electronic components that can get calibrated.  Therefore, there is no calibration done, there are no ways to calibrate the module, and there is no calibration schedule.
Note that you can compensate for the insertion loss of the switch on a per path basis.  These compensations typically include the loss through cables and are performed when the board is placed in the end system.  This is more of an offset compensation for the system "switches+connectivity" rather than a board calibration; it is system dependent.  I recommend making this compensation measurement before proceeding with any automated testing.
    Hope this helps!

  • Calibration Executive error during PXI-5610 sequence.

When running the PXI-5610 procedure in Calibration Executive, I get the prompt "NI-FGEN Create Arbitrary Waveform - Cannot write Real data when Data Processing Mode is Complex. Disable OSP or set Data Processing Mode to Real."  The procedure the errors out with the same message when I click 'Continue'.  I am using the NI PXI-5441 AWG (in place of the NI PXI-5421), but it is a selectable source during the initial configuration of the sequence.
Am I missing something?  Am I doing something wrong?  Is there a hiccup in the Calibration Executive software when PXI-5441 is selected?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi DaRock,
We do not recommend making any changes to any of the test code for calibration as these may cause problems in your test sequence. We are still currently looking into the issue, however, in the meantime, if you would like to try and experiment some changes in the test code, please make sure to backup any original versions of the files you edit so you can load them back in they cause any problems.
Just for your information, in a standard NI-FGEN application, you can manually disable OSP by accessing the OSP Enabled property from the NI-Fgen property node under Arbitrary Waveform Output»Onboard Signal Processing.

  • Using Calibration Executive for PXI-5610 using PXI-5124

    Hi guys,
We've been trying to calibrate PXI-5610 but the Calibration Executive software pop up an error of PXI-5122 requirement but we don't have the module, we have the PXI-5124 instead. We have tried to use the unsupport but it's not working too.
We have found that their resolutions are different

    PXI 5122 http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/12615
Is this the cause of error? Is it possible to use PXI-5124 instead of PXI-5122?

  • Calibration of PXI-5695 RF Attenuator

NI PXI-5695 Specifications, RF Attenuator (NI document 375125C-01) indicates a calibration interval 1 year.
    1. Is there a published National Instruments calibration procedure for the PXI-5695 RF Attenuator?
    2. The PXI-5695's that we have purchased did not come with calibration data or a calibration certificate.  Is there an option to purchase the PXI-5695 with calibration data?
    Thanks,
    Darrow Gervais

    Hello Darrow,
There is not a published calibration procedure for the PXI-5695 RF Attenuator. You would need to send in your PXI-5695's to be calibrated by National Instruments. Here is NI's Calibration Services page: http://www.ni.com/services/calibration.htm. If you choose to have your device calibrated, you can choose from several types of calibration reports: http://www.ni.com/services/calibration_compare.htm.
For new devices, NIST certificates are kept in an online searchable database here. National Instruments products are calibrated at manufacturing, so a newly purchased device will be NIST traceable. The certificates are searchable by the serial number of the device. The following link has more details on NIST Traceability Certificates: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3459F092CEDE62C6862575A0006900F6.
