Call Applecare?

My logic board was fixed by apple, and as usual they did a good job. But I have noticed a few odd things after my computer came back to me, such as a file with a question mark at start up and my entire screen blinking off and on again after coming out of sleep. These aren't big hassels to me - but I was wondering if I should call applecare in case something else goes wrong later, and not having documentation, they refuse to fix it.

You've made some good points about apple QC, but I've never had a problem with applecare - the services of which I don't actually pay for. It's a design flaw, and really has nothing to do with how good a job the techs do - it's just a temporary patch. My computer was fixed for the third time for the same problem under the logicboard repair extension program. It breaks down just about every six months. I've become quite fatalistic about the quality of my ibook G3, so I'm past the point of being angry about it. It's a nice little machine - too bad it doesn't have the build quality that my friends who convinced me to switch to apple said it had. ::shrug::
I've learned that good looking as they are, macintosh computers aren't any better than getting something generic from your average PC vendor. (read other forums, and you'll see what I mean) I can't honestly say that because of my issues that they're all junk, but when this baby inevitably blows I'm not sure I'm willing to pay the few extra hundred bucks to make my next computer a mac.
If the mod's advice doesn't work I might consider logging problem with applecare for future problems. Good advice. Thanks!

  • When I try to import pictures of my daughter, what gets imported is about 50 pictures of world flags, then masks.  I can't import any pictures now.  I am on MacBook Pro.  I called Applecare and honestly got 'gee I don't know' for an answer.

I can't import pictures into iPhoto.  (f I can right click and there is a choice to put in iPhoto that works fine) .  No matter what happens, even when I download them first, all that imports is a mass of pictures of flags and masks, and they are the only things that are imported, no matter what picture I try to import into my librarly.  Can anyone help me with this?  I live in a small down 5 hours from an apple store so I can't just take it in and get somene to look at it.
I am on a Macbook Pro.  I called AppleCare and all i got was 'gee, I don't know'.  Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago

Elaine.  What are you trying to import from?  Are you inserting a camera memory card in the slot on the side of your mac? Are you connecting your camera to the mac through a USB cable? It sounds like you can see your pictures, where do you see them, on the memory card that you open on your desktop, or are you using software that came with your camera?

  • Is there any way to print from the iPAD 3 to a HP LaserJet P2055dn? I called Applecare and was told I could not print to my wireless HP Printer.

I own a iPAD 3. It will not print to my wireless printer: a HP LaserJet P2055dn.  I called Applecare and they had no solution. I don't see such a basic function--printing--is not available.  Does anyone have a way to print from the iPAD 3 to a HP LaserJet P2055dn?

  • Someone stole my iPod touch and then called AppleCare support for it

I got an email to my account saying that I recently called AppleCare, but I never did. I remember that I got my iPod stolen at school so is there any way I could get the name of the person that called AppleCare? I do have the "case id number" for the call.

I don't know about finding out who called, but I would make sure you let Apple know in case they tried to call and get the password to you iTunes account reset so they could use it to purchase a bunch of music and apps with your credit card on file or other payment method.

    Hi,
Apple Care Level one responders are very Script Led.
This means they try to fit what you are saying into a Software or Hardware issue and into a Apple Care Period or  not.
If you are having problems convincing them it is an Account/Apple ID problem (even though it only effects the Mac's use of it in iMessages) ask to speak to a Level 2 person who should be more knowledgeable because fixing and Id issue is free and not subject to Apple Care.

  • 4s microphone has always malfunctioned (people can't hear me) for first 10 seconds of outgoing phone calls. I've synched w healthy Macbook Pro, replaced SIM cards, replaced iPhone 4s, called Applecare (no mic issue admitted). OS problem?

4s microphone has malfunctioned on most outgoing calls for many months. People can't hear me for first 10 seconds of outgoing phone calls. I've synched w healthy Macbook Pro, replaced SIM cards, replaced iPhone 4s when Apple Store thought it was probably a hardware problem, called Applecare (no mic issue admitted). OS problem??? I think so! [Possible] good news: for the past 2 days, since updating to 5.1.1, no one has reported problems hearing me!
I'm concerned Applecare folks did not admit to me that so many other 4s users also has malfunctioning mics.

    Why would that even matter?
The device obviously has a hardware issue and is under warranty, take it to Apple for replacement and move on with life.  No reason to make things difficult.

  • Tried to call applecare about my phone before the press conference today

My phone is having a lot of probably with the proximity sensor. Is there a fix? I am on a call and I can see the screen is still ON,even though the phone is pressed agaisnt my ear.
I called applecare about this BEFORE the press conference today, just in case they choose not to assist users without previous reference numbers. I hope they don't do that.

"just in case they choose not to assist users without previous reference numbers. I hope they don't do that."
Of course they won't do that.
    Have you updated to 4.01?

  • Signal problems and calling AppleCare-

I've noticed that a lot of people who have the infamous iPhone 4 "Death Grip"—lost signal and so on—ask questions online instead of calling Apple support for help. I've noticed that the more people resist the urge to call Apple support, the more Apple seems to be in the dark about a problem.
Just out of curiosity, how many of you have called AppleCare about your reception problems?

  • I recently bought Mac book air and was doing a fresh install of 10.7 and I erased my hard drive and now want to reinstall osx but it keeps telling me that it can't find install information for this machine and to call AppleCare.

Any one have any suggestions?? AppleCare is closed right now

    Hmmmm...
When you say OSX, which version do you want to reinstall?
Was the MacBook Air new when you bought it?  Did it originally come with Lion?  Mountain Lion?
When you say you erased your hard drive, did something go wrong while you were installing Lion?
Were you installing it from a file downloaded from the App Store, or from another source?
When you press and hold "Option" while you boot up, does "Recovery" come up as an option to boot your computer?
If so, you can reinstall Lion from the recovery part of the drive and (hopefully) everything should be fine.
Let me know if you still need a hand with your MacBook and we'll see if we can get you going again.

  • MobileMe Gallery Widget Broke, MobileMe Support says to call Applecare

This one has me, and mobileme, stumped. The resulting pick list in the Mobileme Gallery widget has now become unsynced with the actual mobileme galleries online. So while I can update existing widgets on this page, I can't add a new one. A work around was found (see the last Red Phase gallery, which was put on the page in a conventional way - but lacks the features of the widget of course. Mobileme Chat referred me to Applecare Phone Support, which of course does not work in the middle of the Himalayas. Anyone know the underpinnings of that widget? Thx!

This is a problem that been going on for a while (since Snow Leopard I believe). I've not found a solution other than what you've done, link a photo to the MMe gallery page. You can link the photo to the individual photo page of the gallery rather than the thumbnail page. That would give you the same appearance as the widgets give you, i.e. use this link: http://gallery.me.com/studiosphoenix#100173/Altf4_Red01&bgcolor=black
By the way, the album covers gallery's link is broken. The only area of the image that works as a link are the two words Album Cover. Clicking anywhere else gives no results.

  • I have tried to call AppleCare to have my old iCloud account removed from my old 4s. It's under my old email account which was hacked and I don't have access to. I do not have my iCloud password and can't sell my phone until find my phone is deactivated.

How do I get apple to deactivate my old iCloud account I have no password for it or for the email address. Phoned the number given by Apple and told I'd have to pay for technical help.

If you can't reclaim the account here:
    https://iforgot.apple.com
then call Apple Support and ask to speak with Account Security. If they require you to pay for technical support, then you'll have to pay.

If you are in the US call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.

  • The Official "I Called Applecare about the Whine" Thread

Hello fellow Macbook Pro (/w the whine problem) owners:
I think it would be helpful (if not helpful, at least amusing) of all the responses you've received from Apple Care Phone Calls regarding the CPU Whine. For example, did they tell it was with-in spec? did they tell you to send it in, only to get it back unfixed? did you get a refund? Anything would be best for this community.
Hopefully, this will also motivate more people to call Apple-care themselves and push Apple to solve the problem.

after 3 weeks of calls they accepted the POS back as faulty
they "repaired it" - less hot and now has creak on the case
    came back exactly the same
phoned again, they said engineers said it was within spec (screen buzz and left whine)

I was not given the option to purchase applecare + with iPhone 5.I tried calling Apple customer service, the automated process took my info but then came back and said too busy to help you now. How can I buy it now?

You should call Apple but you should get an email from Apple. I got one a few minutes ago and this is what they said about AppleCare+ :
Thank you for your recent iPhone 5 purchase at the Apple Store.
We would like to let you know that every iPhone comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee.
We noticed you weren't given the opportunity to add AppleCare+ to your iPhone. If you would like to extend your coverage for only $99, please reply to this email by September 21st.
After that date, if you would still like to purchase AppleCare+ within the first thirty days of receiving your iPhone, you can call AppleCare at 800-MY-IPHONE or visit an Apple Retail Store.
Thank you for shopping with Apple.
    Sincerely,
    Apple Online Store Team
