Call block limit

I am nearing the call blocking limit on my Comcast phone. What is Comcast doing to expand or make limitless this feature. To protect the shrinking landline use i would think Comcast would address the issue of predaroy foreign sammers who laugh at FCC rules.

Yes, I already knew that and in my area I'm  nearing the 25 limit. Please bring this issue up at a higher level as millions of Comcast voice customers,if polled, would express the same concern over these malevolent scammers. Thanks for the acknowledgment. I'm a customer same as you....I volunteer my time to help others in these forums....   I added NOMOROBO to my Voice Services which cut out 99% of the known spammers/spoofers...  Maybe you might want to take a look at them...   www.nomorobo.com    It works on Comcast's system.

  • Artificial limit of 10 numbers for call block.

Why is call block limited to 10 numbers? There are at least that many scammers calling every week. I need to be able to block several thousand numbers. This should be incredibly simple with any modern computing equipment at least since about 1970. There is no reason whatsoever for a limitation of 10 numbers, unless the telephone company is profiting from all of these illegal calls. (I'm sure that's not the case, of course.) There should also be a feature for blocking known scammers. For example, when a scammer calls, I could just enter *XX and that number would be added to the list of known scammers, and be blocked for everyone who has that feature turned on. That number could then be blocked for everyone for a day. That would very quickly stop the numerous telephone scams, as they would only be able to complete one call per day. It would be a simple matter to have a "whitelist" of good numbers that can always ring my phone just in case someone has mistakenly labelled them as a scammer.

Agree - 10 is not enough.  There should not be a limit at all.
Just want to say that no limit is impossible.  Say they gave us 1 million numbers someone would find they needed more.  Better would be they worked with someone like NOMOROBO to filter numbers for all of us and gave us say some number like 100 of personal numbers to filter.  Note you must use personal numbers to filter those allowed to annoy us such as politicians during campaign season  Note with NOMOROBO you cannot add personal numbers but you can report a new violator to filter.

  • Automatic call blocking from invalid numbers/Smart Limits for Wireless changes

It would be nice if your call routing system could be set to AUTOMATICALLY prevent calls from invalid phone numbers from being completed. As an example, I have received calls on my cell phone with the following Caller ID numbers in the last few days: 408-189-xxxx728-727-xxxx The first number uses an invalid exchange (189); the second an inactive area code (728). These were both obviously spoofed numbers that spammers/fraudsters are using. While I get many, many more nuisance calls than these examples each week, it would relieve some of the call volume if your system blocks these calls in the first place. I also subscribe to the Smart Limits call blocking service. 30 numbers is NOT enough to cover all of the spam calls I get. Could this be increased to at least 200? I have already used up all 30 slots in my Smart Limits. I also have over 50 numbers programmed into my phone's phonebook that have been flagged as spammers. Since they can either change the numbers they transmit on a regular basis, or there's just so many of them to begin with, 30 numbers is much too low. Would it also be possible to count and record the date and time when calls have last been blocked and have this information posted with the list of my blocked numbers? It would be useful to see how many times that calls from the number have been received and when the last one was blocked. I could then delete that number from my block list and replace it with one that has had more activity.

    Hi there
Thank you for posting your valuable feedback on our Smart Limits service!
As with everything we offer, we rely on this feedback to provide services that our customers find useful, and to make existing products even better. I agree that adding an automatic block for such calls would be an awesome option, ad would being able to increase the blocked contact limit and see records of those blocked calls! There may be some technical limitations preventing us from adding these features at this time, but we will certainly pass your comments on to the teams that can make this happen!
    Thanks again!

  • Using the "Apply Call Blocking Percentage" parameter

Hi Guys, what I need to do is to limit the number of calls going to a particular route pattern during heavy load. So I'd like to see an upper and lower threshold limit on a route pattern where it would start to deny traffic as a %age to a particular route point/route pattern if the upper limit is met over a certain time period. Is this possible? How does the "Apply Call Blocking Percentage" feature when to start blocking calls and is it all the time whatever the traffic load?
    Thanks

    Try
    v_log_name := 'Fnd_File.LOG_OUT';Hey, what r u doing with above code?
You are assigning string value to a variable?
The compilation won't give any error.
    And OP thinks it's solution!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IPhone 5s Recent Call List Limit

What is the Recent Call List Limit for an iPhone 5s?
Can you view the entire Recent Call List Limit from the screen?
Today, as I would delete a call from the list, an older call would appear at the bottom of the list.
    Thanks!

The Recent call list will display the last 100 calls.
You can scroll through the list to see from the beginning to end.

  • I am looking for a good Call Blocking App for my iPhone 5...any suggestions??

I am in need of a good call blocking app for iPhone....please any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

As Randy Landry1 says, Google for "silent ringtone", download and install on you iPhone as a ringtone.
Now create a contact for the offending phone number. Assign the contact to the silent ringtone and set no vibrate.
When that number calls it will not ring, nor vibrate. It will light up the screen, but if you do not see that, it will not bother you. They could leave voice mail, but that is easily deleted.
And if it is a situation where the are violating the do not call list, you can use the missed call log to report the number to the FTC.
Also, if the calls are abusive or threading, and the leave a voice mail, you something to show the police.

  • Why is Call Block not available?????

I've started getting these harrasing political phone calls from the same number. In the past,
I remember that I could use Call Block (*60) to block them. I now see that the feature  is
"no longer available to new customers". So how do I keep these cretins from ringing my phone????
I subscribe to Freedom Essentials, so I have Caler ID, Forwarding, and Voice mail. I never noticed
that they don't mention Call Block now.

There's always the Do Not Call List but unfortunately politicians are exempt.  Like how they write the laws to suit their needs????
You could check with your states public utilities commission or verizon to see why it is no longer being offered.

  • Call Blocking does not. Is this just a scam too?

Verizon call blocking is a useless 'service', dozens of calls come through with no phone number at all on the caller ID, something Verizon specifically states it will NOT DO.  Any ideas?
Verizon call blocking does not address scammers and money-seekers who have caller ID of "Not-Available' -- honestly my dog could figure out how to block these but Verizon cannot. Besides paying more money to someone else, is there any hope for the people who expected the Verizon service would work?

Scam no.  A service that needs to be update to the 21th Century, yes.  Still based on early callerid tecnhnology which is easily bypassed by all those so called "telemarketers" .   You should have now trouble with ligitimate callers, but lots of illegal calls come in.

  • Using *77 to set 'anonymous' or 'unknown' call blocking is not working

Per instructions from Verizon, I used *77 to turn on anonymous call blocking last night. I dialed *77, and got a voice telling me that I have enabled anonymous call blocking.
However, it's NOT working. When I call home from my office, it shows up in caller ID as "unavailable"; shouldn't a call that is identified as 'unavailable' be blocked with this service?  Does anyone understand why this would be the case? Are all 'unavailable calls' the same?

Unavavailable/unknown calls and anonymous/private calls are two different things. Anonymous calls are calls from someone who has chosen to block their telephone number from being displayed on your caller ID screen. This means the caller has dialed *67 before dialing your phone number (or they have what is called line blocking where all their outgoing caller id info is automatically blocked without them having to dial *67 before every call).  *77 is used to block anonymous/private calls and force the caller to allow their caller id info to come through to your phone in order for the call to complete.
Unavailable/unknown calls are calls in which no caller id information has been sent. These are generally from collection agencies or telemarketers.  *77 will not block these calls in any way. The only services which will block or screen these calls are Call Intercept or Do Not Disturb.

  • I've blocked a contact with ios7 using call blocking feature but it still manage to call through ... anyone has this similar problem?

yeah, i've set a number to be blocked using the ios7's call block feature 2 days ago. today, the phone rang and displayed the number which i've blocked ... anyone encountered this problem?

Same thing just happened to me.  I've created a "Spam Call" contact and have been adding numbers to it as they come in.  Today is the first time that the phone rang that was named Spam Call.  Very disappointing.

  • Call Blocking -- Why can't we do it?

The simple question is, "Why can't we have an app or option to block unwanted calls, without jailbreaking the device?"
Some of you are going to say, "You can through your carrier." This is only partially true.
Verizon allows you to block 5 (just 5) calls via their website. But why have to go to their website to do this? What if you have a company-paid line and don't have login access to their site? Why do you have to renew your blocked numbers every 90 days?
My Blackberry Storm had an app that simply intercepted the call and dropped it or directed it to VM, if I had put the number on my block list. Blocking the contact was a simple as selecting the number from the incoming call list and choosing, "Block this contact" from the menu.
This seems to be related to the lack of flexibility in how calls are received by each contact. There are no separate controls for volume and vibrate that can be set per contact. If there were you could turn off vibrate and silence the ringtone for contacts you didn't want to be disturbed by, at the very least.
Had I known this simple functionality was not available I would not have bought this phone.

    Thanks for the replies.
roaminggnome: I know it's not a feature. I am lamenting that very fact. And, yes, it was a great feature of the Blackberry (and others). Why does Apple not allow it? There has to be some business reason because it should be easy enough to accomplish if apps could intercept a call before it alerted you.
I also know that true call blocking is a carrier-level function. Wouldn't it be great if you could block the number on your iPhone and the option was saved on Verizon's server? Why not? Aren't smart phones supposed to be smart? I can easily block calls on my home phone through AT&T's U-Verse service.
Instead you have to jump through hoops to create a silent ringtone (or buy one). You have limited SMS tones to choose from and people talk about jailbreaking their phone just to add more. This was all easy and free on the Blackberry.
The Google Voice idea would be great if my true cell number weren't already out there. I really don't want to have to change numbers and have to redistribute it to all who should have it.
I really thought the iPhone would be like the Mac, with lots of cool options and functionality. I've had Macs since 1984. I may have been mistaken.
