Call Blocking via CUCM

Currently we use translation profiles on our H.323 gateways and apply them to ports/dial-peers to reject specific calls coming inbound from the PSTN. I can see us getting closer to the 15 rule maximum for the translation rules and would like to know what would be the cleanest way to block specific calls from the PSTN by ANI. The only option I could think of was to create a different translation pattern for each with the route option "block this pattern"  We are currently on call manager ver. 8.6.2.23900-10. Thanks!!

James:
Very interesting, thanks for the reply.  We are running IOS Version 15.2(4)M4 on our 3925Es.  Good to know this version of code supports more rules.  I am still going to look into doing what Jaime and Dennis suggested as I would like to have a central location to manage call blocking.  Thanks!!

  • Call Blocking -- Why can't we do it?

The simple question is, "Why can't we have an app or option to block unwanted calls, without jailbreaking the device?"
Some of you are going to say, "You can through your carrier." This is only partially true.
Verizon allows you to block 5 (just 5) calls via their website. But why have to go to their website to do this? What if you have a company-paid line and don't have login access to their site? Why do you have to renew your blocked numbers every 90 days?
My Blackberry Storm had an app that simply intercepted the call and dropped it or directed it to VM, if I had put the number on my block list. Blocking the contact was a simple as selecting the number from the incoming call list and choosing, "Block this contact" from the menu.
This seems to be related to the lack of flexibility in how calls are received by each contact. There are no separate controls for volume and vibrate that can be set per contact. If there were you could turn off vibrate and silence the ringtone for contacts you didn't want to be disturbed by, at the very least.
Had I known this simple functionality was not available I would not have bought this phone.

    Thanks for the replies.
roaminggnome: I know it's not a feature. I am lamenting that very fact. And, yes, it was a great feature of the Blackberry (and others). Why does Apple not allow it? There has to be some business reason because it should be easy enough to accomplish if apps could intercept a call before it alerted you.
I also know that true call blocking is a carrier-level function. Wouldn't it be great if you could block the number on your iPhone and the option was saved on Verizon's server? Why not? Aren't smart phones supposed to be smart? I can easily block calls on my home phone through AT&T's U-Verse service.
Instead you have to jump through hoops to create a silent ringtone (or buy one). You have limited SMS tones to choose from and people talk about jailbreaking their phone just to add more. This was all easy and free on the Blackberry.
The Google Voice idea would be great if my true cell number weren't already out there. I really don't want to have to change numbers and have to redistribute it to all who should have it.
I really thought the iPhone would be like the Mac, with lots of cool options and functionality. I've had Macs since 1984. I may have been mistaken.

  • Chage Call list via WEB UI

    Hi experts
in interaction center, the users can see the call lists assigned, but they can't modify it.
So, is possible change/delete call lists via WEB UI??? For example add a call at the list, or delete all the call list??
    Best regards
    Marco

    Hi,
Starting CRM 7.0 SP4 a lean version of the Call List Management application was developed.
It does not cover all the functionality of the SAP GUI application.
Here is a list of features that are covered in this version of the WebUI application:
    - Quick search
View options: tile layout and editable overview page with assignment block
    - Advanced search
View options: tree view and table view
    - Creation of new call lists
    - Edit existing call lists
Update contact persons: When editing a call list, you can update the contact persons. By default, the relationship type Has contact person is considered. Contact persons for whom the Do not contact checkbox is selected, are not added to the list of contact persons.
    The following tabs are available:
    Call List Details
    Execution Progress
    Assignment
You can create and delete assignments.
    Calls (display only)
    Business context (display only)
If you are interested in using this lean version you must upgrade to CRM 7.0 SP4, where this functionality has been made available or else you can always carry on with the SAPGUI version of the transaction CRMD_TM_CLDIST.
    Hope this information helps.
    Best Regards,
    Vinod

  • I am looking for a good Call Blocking App for my iPhone 5...any suggestions??

I am in need of a good call blocking app for iPhone....please any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

As Randy Landry1 says, Google for "silent ringtone", download and install on you iPhone as a ringtone.
Now create a contact for the offending phone number. Assign the contact to the silent ringtone and set no vibrate.
When that number calls it will not ring, nor vibrate. It will light up the screen, but if you do not see that, it will not bother you. They could leave voice mail, but that is easily deleted.
And if it is a situation where the are violating the do not call list, you can use the missed call log to report the number to the FTC.
Also, if the calls are abusive or threading, and the leave a voice mail, you something to show the police.

  • Why is Call Block not available?????

I've started getting these harrasing political phone calls from the same number. In the past,
I remember that I could use Call Block (*60) to block them. I now see that the feature  is
"no longer available to new customers". So how do I keep these cretins from ringing my phone????
I subscribe to Freedom Essentials, so I have Caler ID, Forwarding, and Voice mail. I never noticed
that they don't mention Call Block now.

There's always the Do Not Call List but unfortunately politicians are exempt.  Like how they write the laws to suit their needs????
You could check with your states public utilities commission or verizon to see why it is no longer being offered.

  • Call Blocking does not. Is this just a scam too?

Verizon call blocking is a useless 'service', dozens of calls come through with no phone number at all on the caller ID, something Verizon specifically states it will NOT DO.  Any ideas?
Verizon call blocking does not address scammers and money-seekers who have caller ID of "Not-Available' -- honestly my dog could figure out how to block these but Verizon cannot. Besides paying more money to someone else, is there any hope for the people who expected the Verizon service would work?

Scam no.  A service that needs to be update to the 21th Century, yes.  Still based on early callerid tecnhnology which is easily bypassed by all those so called "telemarketers" .   You should have now trouble with ligitimate callers, but lots of illegal calls come in.

  • Using *77 to set 'anonymous' or 'unknown' call blocking is not working

Per instructions from Verizon, I used *77 to turn on anonymous call blocking last night. I dialed *77, and got a voice telling me that I have enabled anonymous call blocking.
However, it's NOT working. When I call home from my office, it shows up in caller ID as "unavailable"; shouldn't a call that is identified as 'unavailable' be blocked with this service?  Does anyone understand why this would be the case? Are all 'unavailable calls' the same?

Unavavailable/unknown calls and anonymous/private calls are two different things. Anonymous calls are calls from someone who has chosen to block their telephone number from being displayed on your caller ID screen. This means the caller has dialed *67 before dialing your phone number (or they have what is called line blocking where all their outgoing caller id info is automatically blocked without them having to dial *67 before every call).  *77 is used to block anonymous/private calls and force the caller to allow their caller id info to come through to your phone in order for the call to complete.
Unavailable/unknown calls are calls in which no caller id information has been sent. These are generally from collection agencies or telemarketers.  *77 will not block these calls in any way. The only services which will block or screen these calls are Call Intercept or Do Not Disturb.

  • I've blocked a contact with ios7 using call blocking feature but it still manage to call through ... anyone has this similar problem?

yeah, i've set a number to be blocked using the ios7's call block feature 2 days ago. today, the phone rang and displayed the number which i've blocked ... anyone encountered this problem?

Same thing just happened to me.  I've created a "Spam Call" contact and have been adding numbers to it as they come in.  Today is the first time that the phone rang that was named Spam Call.  Very disappointing.

  • Error calling appl. via OLE OA175 after inst. Patch4 or 5 of SAPGUI 7.20

I have maintained a OLE application with the "oaa4 ArchiveLink:Application Maintenance" to do special work on documents with special type.
It worked very well until I installed the Patch4 or Patch5 of the SAPGUI 7.20.
Now I get the message: "Error calling Application via OLE ...".
It looks like a bug in the patches but may be there is something wrong with me (or my application). Has someone any experience with this patch or with this error message.
In the meantime I got an answer:
You have to grant your OLE application in the security options in the SAP-GUI-Configuration.

how do I grant the OLE application ?

  • Why Apple does not provide for call block / blacklist function on iphone?

If Apple frowns upon jailbreaking the iPhone, why not AT THE LEAST endorse and make available third-party application that can provide a decent call block / blacklist function (like the Call Blocker for BlackBerry)?
Can an Apple representative provide feedback pls?
[Most telcos do not provide call-screening as a value-add service. Even if they do, a more cost-effective method is still the better option.]

Have you asked your service provider if they offer any call blocking service? I know here in the USA, AT&T does, although they do charge $4.99/month for the service (it is part of a parental control package that allows control of both numbers that can be blocked from calling you, and numbers that your iPhone can call to).
On-phone black list apps typically work by using caller id info and looking it up against the apps own database of numbers you've entered. So your phone still rings at least once, as the phone needs to allow a brief connection for the app to get the caller id info before disconnecting a number flagged for blocking. There really is no way to truly block calls from the phone itself, you need your service provider to be on board with the idea, so they can dis-allow the call at the switch and truly block it from ever reaching your phone.

  • Call blocking not blocking a call?

I have added a number to my call blocked list but they are still managing to call me?

Are you sure they are calling you from the same number you have blocked? Did you enter the full 10 digit number?
If the problem continues, call Customer service and see if they can troubleshoot why the number is not being blocked.
Number added through the free block are only effective for 90 days; after that you need to re-add them. Could this be what happened?
