Call connection times are long

Hello,
I have iPhone 5 and I live in Turkey. When I want to call someone, my call's connection times are very long. For example, when I pressed call button, I have to wait 9-10 sec to hear first ring tone. I have had this problem with my previous and new service provider. I think this is a device problem.
Is it OK to connect a call in 9-10 second to someone? Or my device has a problem. What can I do for that? If I bring my device to Apple store in Europe (in international warranty), can I switch it with a new one ?
Thank you.

That is weird, but sounds like a carrier issue...
I have been to Europe with the iPhone 4S call connections should be nearly instant (1-3 seconds lag, if any)
In America, the traversal time from the phone to the network is about 5-6 seconds.
So, for you, 10 seconds is strange.

  • Connect times are dreadful, related to DNS

    I had FiOS installed on Tuesday 11-Feb-2014. I got it, but I don't get it. 15/5 tier, Actiontec M1424WR-Gen3I, 40.21.10.2 firmware. I'm running Vista and my browser is Firefox 27.0.1. I experienced the problem with a wired connection yesterday, before  I pinpointed DNS. I  have not tried wired since.
    speedtest shows consistent 15.xx/5.xx, as promised and expected. It's connecting to speedtest.net (or any website for that matter) that is the problem. I gathered data using Network Monitor in firefox that led me to the conclusion that the problem is DNS. I am using OpenDNS on my computer.
    I've been trying to track this down for 2 days, and here's the latest:
    Here are the results of  "ipconfig /all" at 5ish pm after a restart. Connections times were all good.

    The only difference is in the DNS servers. How did this happen and how can I stop it from happening  ? This could be a deal breaker. I have not contacted Verizon support yet.
    Thanks in advance for any advice or solution you can provide.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I found out why that is happening (suddenly having an IPv6 address for DNS). If I disconnect/connect through Network and Sharing center the wireless network connection gets and IPv6 DNS address. When it connects during system start/restart it does not.
    Thank you both for your help and guidance. I will mark the "disable IPv6" as the answer, since that should always work.

  • ADI Connection times

    Hi, I'm wondering if any other customers use ADI over a WAN link. We connect from the UK to the US via a 512k link and get a tnsping time of 1500ms initially, then 450ms and a regular ping of about 200ms. When we connect to ADI it takes 3+ minutes to connect, with the worst connection taking over 15 minutes. We are on the latest version of ADI and have tried tuning SQL*Net but so far with no success.
    If anybody else runs ADI in this way what sort of connection times are you experiencing.
    thanks

    Wow, I've never had a question go this long without a reply. No help from anybody?

  • Long initial connect time for Resound Linx on Incoming call

    I just got the Resound Linx 7 and iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.2.  They seem to be pairing directly with no problems.
    When I get an inbound call, it seems like it takes about 3-5 seconds for audio to come through on the Linx, during that time there is no audio on the speakerphone nor earpiece but the call is connected.  I can't hear the first few words they say and come into the call late.
    Is the 3-5 second connect time normal?
    If so, is there a way to get the audio to play through the handset until it connects?
    If not, where should start troubleshooting?

    I am quite happy with the Starkeys, yes. They are not perfect (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6285850 is a now 442-post long thread about them - you can see the good and the bad), but they are far better for me than the Linx were....and they are a lot easier on batteries, too.

  • Regarding Connection Time Out issue in Webservice call to database.

    Hi,
    We are facing one issue with the webservices call to DB and ILOG. We are declaring and executing the webservice in the following way-
    //Request Object
    EDP.ILog.PEWM_EXPDOC_Help_Information_ProxyService.DecisionServiceRequest helpRequest = EDP.ILog.PEWM_EXPDOC_Help_Information_ProxyService.DecisionServiceRequest();
    //Response Object
    EDP.ILog.PEWM_EXPDOC_Help_Information_ProxyService.DecisionServiceResponse helpResponse = EDP.ILog.PEWM_EXPDOC_Help_Information_ProxyService.DecisionServiceResponse();
    //Proxy Service Object Initialisation
    DecisionServicePEWM_EXPDOC_Help_InformationService helpService = DecisionServicePEWM_EXPDOC_Help_InformationService();
    helpService.executeDecisionService(parameters : helpRequest, out parametersOutput : helpResponse);
    All the webservices are configured corectly in External Resources of Process Administrator. Now, the issue is that whenever we are trying to execute the service with good amount of load on OBPM Process Admin Engine, it is throwing the following exception-
    "Exception:java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect"
    We are unable to find the root cause of the issue as the webservices call is still throwing the above exception.
    Please provide some resolution as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhishek

    Just to be sure, we're talking about a client process in BPM accessing an ILOG web service or a DB web service, right? Is this DB web service something custom built?
    Be aware that certain things can run inside the workspace and not the engine. You almost have to work at making this happen. The easiest way is to make this happen is to invoke a BPM object method from within a BPM object presentation or JSP. If you do have this situation open the BPM object method and click on properties and check the box run on server side.
    I can't think of anything that wouldn't scale for connections to Web Services in an engine. I'd be looking at tuning your ILog Web services. Perhaps it can't keep up and the engine gets a timeout. How often does this happen? The engine should retry the automatic until is works. But it tries 3 or so times, it gives up. This retry is configurable.

  • Long connection times to Leopard server using ssh and screen sharing

    I'm experiencing long connection times when using ssh (30 seconds, or so, before password prompt appears), and screen sharing (upwards of 5 minutes before display opens). Both the server and the macbook pro I'm connecting with are on the same LAN, with the sever connected by wire directly to an Airport Extreme, and the MBP connecting via wireless.
    Anybody have any thoughts as to what's causing the long delays in connecting?

    A ping goes rather quickly, and the TNSNAMES.ORA file already contains the IP address. I have other software that connects to the Oracle server just fine without a long delay. I am not sure if this other software uses ODBC, it is a package software. I was begining to think I might have miscoded the connection in the VB program?

  • TS3367 facetime doesn't work well after upgrading to ios8. I need to make a call several times to connect.

    Facetime doesn't work well after upgrading to ios8.
    When I make a facetime call, it doesn't sound some times on the other side.
    When it rings on the other side and is answered, it says (connecting), but it is still ringing on my side and never connected.
    After that, I disconnect and make a second call, it sometimes connects, but not everytime.
    I need to call several times to connect. It is really hard to connect through facetime after upgrading to ios8.
    I purchased three iPad so far because of this good feature (facetime).
    Please fix this issue as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    There are two easy fixes to this.
    One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
    Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.
    Hope this helps!

  • Connecting takes a long time

    For some reason connecting to Flash Media Server 3.5 takes around 40 seconds. The server is running on Windows Server 2008 (64-bit edition) on a virtual server located in a reliable hosting center and I'm connecting to it over the internet. The server is using built-in Windows Firewall with all the inbound TCP ports required by Flash Media Server opened (80, 1935 and 1111). If I disable the server's firewall the connection time drops to 20 seconds, but it's still pretty damn long time just for establishing connection. We probably have some company firewall at this end (the client side), but other streaming media services works just fine over this connection.
    Any suggestions? I was under the impression that the connection should be practically instant (practically meaning that the user shouldn't have to wait for it).

    You have it right, the flashplayer will fall back on RTMPT:80 if it can't make an RTMP connection. If you let the flashplayer use it's default behavior, I find it takes about 20 seconds for each protocol/port combination to time out. Unfortunately, there's no access to that timeout value through the actionscript API.
    A lot of developers like to use the "shotgun" method of connecting, where separate netconnections are create for each port:protocol combination and connected to at once. The first one to receive a success status becomes the winner (the connection that will actually be used), and the rest are closed and discarded.
    Another option is to try your preferred port:protocol combinations in sequence, and use a Timer() to set your own timeout for each, each combination in succession. I personally prefer this method, as it reduces the number of handlshakes and connect requests the server has to handle (I'll trad a few seconds of wait time on the client side to save load on the server any day).
    One thing to keep in mind, Mac OS may give you problems if you make your timeout too short. You can read more about that here:

  • Are long iphone 5 repair times in Europe to be expected in general?

    UPS picked up my working but physically damaged (on the back) iphone 5 on October 28 I expected to have it back in 5-7 days, as Apple advertises its repair cycles. But till now (November 5) the online status is still "Diagnosing product". I don't believe apple repair staff needs from October 30 (arrival of unit in the repair center) until November 5 to find out that it is working fine but needs a new back cover. To help them I also wrote that down when describing the problem.
    Today I called customer support in Germany and I got someone on the phone who couldn't explain anything about status with this repair to me. The obvious advise was to wait further on (and hope the best).
    Do you have similar experiences? To me that all is a bad surprise and at least I wanted you to know, in case you are considerng making use of apple for a similar repair.

    Whoever you talked to was completely misinformed. The repair times are indeed as stated, at least based on everything I've read, and there are loaner phones available. Call Apple Support and ask again. If you get the same misinformation, ask to speak with a supervisor. Or, and probably better, make an appointment at an Apple Store where you can arrange the repair in person:

    Did you use the latest backup after setting it up "as new device"? If yes, try again, this time without using the backup, maybe it contains damaged data causing your problem.
    If this does not bring any change, you should get it serviced.

  • Netflix app error - Please make sure network connectivity and date and time are accurate

    Am getting this error message when trying to view instant movies via ipad2 or iphone.  Anyone have this error?  I can't connect to Netflix via either device - I've tried unistalling & re-installing Netflix app on both devices.  I  am connected to the internet via our home network and date & time are correct on all devices & home computer - any other setting I'm missing?  I didn't have any of these problems before I installed the new iOS5 on my devices.  Netflix said it's an apple operating setting that needs to be modified.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    HI Jason,
    I feel for you. That's a lot of work!
    How large is the partition you tried to create using BootCamp for Windows?
    And how much free disk space is on the MacBook startup disk?
    Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.
    Just in case, check the Mac startup disk for errors.
    Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
    Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    (Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
    Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
    If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
    If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
    When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
    Select your start up disk and click Restart
