Call for Speakers - 2006 ASUG Annual Conference

The 2006 ASUG Annual Conference will be held May 14 - 17 in Orlando.
The call for speakers has been open for a while now and will close on 11/21. If you have a topic that you would like to present at conference, I encourage you to submit your abstract before the deadline.
I encourage everyone who has given a presentation in the past, whether at Annual conference, at one of the forums or during an outreach call to consider giving a presentation at the 2006 conference. I also encourage those of you who have not had the opportunity to share with the ASUG community to also consider submitting an abstract.

I am afraid I don't know how to make this Sticky... Maybe someone can email me the answer ?? [email protected]
As far as sharing material, ASUG has a non-disclosure agreements, which prohibits me from sharing the materials to the world at large.  I agree that it would be nice to share ASUG presentations with everyone here at SDN/BPX, but I am not allowed to do so.
Thanks for the pointer about stickiness.

    You should have arranged return of the damaged replacement to begin with right then.  Too late for that though. At this point, you can buy a used phone on Swappa.com or elsewhere that is compatible to Verizon or buy full retail.  I don't they will let you Early Edge right now being so close to having just upgraded.

  • Usability Testing : My #1 "Value-Add" at ASUG Annual Conference & SAPPHIRE

    There are dozens of reasons to go to ASUG Annual Conference & SAPPHIRE every year -SAP Education, Networking, Best-Practices and "Real World" SAP Customer Stories and Lessons Learned can easily fill your day...BUT my #1 "Value-Add" every year is to carve-out some time to take part in SAP Usability Testing sessions.
    It is a great opportunity to get "Hands-On" with Future-Releases of SAP Products, and help guide the User Experience of SAP tools.
    SAP Usability Testing sessions run for 60-minutes, and need to be booked in Advance, as you need to sign some non-disclosure and feedback documents.
    You are partnered-up with another Customer/Client of SAP and walked through some different scripted-scenarios (eg. Enter a Travel Approval Request, Run a Report for your Division, etc) based on the Module that you are looking at. There are a couple of SAP staff with you - and they are also recording your Mouse-Clicks, Screen-Captures and everything you say as you walk-through the process.
    This Feedback process is REAL - and it actually works to improve future SAP tools. Suggestions that we made about SAP Business Object Central Management Console in 2011, became the SAP BOBJ BI 4.1 System Configuration Wizard in 2013.
    Sometimes there are "follow-up" calls (or web sessions) after the Conference where the team will show you how the processes have been changed since your SAP Usability Testing session.
    The Full-List of SAP Usability Testing sessions in Orlando is listed below...Sign-up Early as Spaces are LIMITED.
    Topic Overview:
    1. Ariba® Network Spot Buy
    2. BI Reporting and Analytics App for Mobile
    3. Common Visualization Object Modeler, Business Charting Library: Business Data Visualization
    4. Rounds Management on Smart Glasses
    5. SAP Design and Prototyping Tools
    6. SAP Fiori® Apps for the Contract Account Manager
    7. SAP Fiori Next Generation Concepts
    8. SAP Fiori Object Page and Draft Handling
    9. SAP Fiori Overview Page
    10. SAP Fiori Wizard and Notifications Concept
    11. SAP Mobile Place (Cloud Solution)
    12. SAP Multichannel Foundation for Utilities with Simplified and Engaging Out-of-the-Box B2C Apps
    13. SAP S/4HANA – Runtime Authoring for SAP S/4HANA
    14. SAP S/4HANA Social Media Integration – Social Timeline for SAP S/4HANA applications
    15. SAP Screen Personas 3.0
    16. SAP Simple Finance – Post / Analyze Journal Entries or Financial Statement in Accounting
    17. SAP Simple Finance – Simple Payments
    18. SAP Smart Business for the Internet of Things
    19. SuccessFactors® Employee Central – Global Benefits

    Due to a copy/paste glitch, some necessary spaces have inadvertently been removed.  If I could fix this, I would.

  • Southwest Fox/Xbase++ 2015 Call for Speakers

    The call has gone out!
    We’re inviting anyone interesting in speaking at this year’s conferences to submit topics. You’ll find the Call for Speakers at
    http://www.swfox.net/callforspeakers.aspx. Please read the complete Call for Speakers document (linked from that page), and use our proposal submission application at
    https://geekgatherings.com/Submission. Session proposals are due by
    March 9. (Yes, this is earlier than in prior years. We have some publicity plans that require us to have a little more lead time than in the past.)
    As in the past few years, we plan to offer a good selection of topics in core VFP development, extending VFP, using VFP with other technologies, and VFPX, as well as technology sessions to help VFP developers become better developers, not just more expert
    at VFP. We are looking for a few sessions on paths forward for VFP developers and we’re looking for a few deep-dive post-conference sessions.
    For Southwest Xbase++, this year’s sessions should primarily focus on Xbase++ 2.0. We are especially interested in your experience with features such as Universal-SQL and Single or Multi touch UI development with 2.0. If you are involved
    in Web application development, we want to hear about how to get most out of WebHandlers and WebSockets with 2.0.
    For both conferences, the Call for Speakers also lists some topics last year’s attendees specifically requested.
    Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. We’re looking forward to seeing your proposals. We expect that, as usual, choosing among them will be one of the hardest things we do all year.

  • ASUG 2008 Annual Conference, request for info

    All,
    I am very excited about the upcoming ASUG 2008 Annual Conference in Orlando, May 4 - 7, and I hope to see many of you there.  For registration info, please visit:
    http://www.asugannualconference.com/
    Meanwhile, we are planning a new session, 'How to Manage Organizational Change in WF/BPM-Enabled Organizations'... quite a lengthy title, but a very important topic.  As a workflow developer and administrator, I constantly struggle with users who transfer and no longer want to perform the workitems left in their queue, users who want substitutes set up (but refuse to log on), and other organizational/infrastructure issues.
    It would be great if you could post your thoughts, questions, and concerns (or even your solutions!) to these type of issues.  For example, if you are running multiple platforms (4.6 and SRM, or whatever) how do you ensure consistency in the assignment of substitutes across platforms ?  What part does the HR organization play in managing the creation of new users ?  Transfers ?  Terminations ?
    We have many other exciting sessions planned for this conference, so I hope you will make plans to attend.
    Cheers,
    Sue

    I am curious to know about Fusion. I heard that Oracle Reports and Forms will not be used from R12 onwards. Is it so ?
    And anything new that we need to improve ourselves against the Fusion Application ?
    Any interesting new features for HRMS in Fusion ?

    Hi,
    We've tried increasing the

    But nothing seems to help.
    In addition, the test page of the web service we are invoking returns after 1 second (so there shouldn't be a latency problem)
    Maybe you have any other ideas?

    The IP communications domain has matured beyond providing VoIP only
    services. Universities, enterprises, businesses and individual
    consumers routinely use VoIP. The focus of IP communications is now on
    the operations, management, administration and provisioning aspects of
    large-scale, reliable and secure communication systems. To this extent,
    the research and standardization work now includes log file analysis,
    session tracing across proxy meshes and overload control. As IP
    communications grapples with these issues, newer technologies in the
    form of cloud-based IP communication systems; peer-to-peer VoIP
    networks; use of IP communications in virtual worlds; social
    networks and IP communications are starting to assert a strong
    presence in the IP communications domain.
    The aim of the IPTComm conference is to serve as a platform for
    researchers from academia, research labs, industry and government to
    share their ideas, views, results and experiences in the field of
    IP-based telecommunication. IPTComm will include presentations of
    theoretical and experimental achievements, innovative systems,
    prototyping efforts, case studies, and advancements in technology.
    We invite authors to submit papers in the following and related areas:
    New services and service models
    * Over-the-top services.
    * Social networking and IP communications.
    * IP telecommunications in virtual worlds.
    * Compositional services and model checking.
    * Cloud-based IP communications infrastructure.
    * Rapid application development frameworks.
    * APIs and enablers for IP communication services.
    * Browser-based IP communication services.
    * Context-aware communication services.
    * IMS and NGN services.
    Management and Resilience
    * Advantages and disadvantages of IP communications as a P2P
    application.
    * Advances in P2P overlays for IP communications systems.
    * Management of IP communications systems and networks.
    * Overload management schemes for IP communications.
    * Log files and log file analysis for IP communication systems.
    * Scalability of large-scale IP communication systems.
    * Traffic and QoS measurement of VoIP traffic.
    * Self-tuning and self-monitoring IP communications systems.
    * Service discovery.
    * Energy consumption and energy management in IP communication
    systems.
    * Incentives in P2P IP communication systems.
    * Resilience in P2P IP communication system.
    Security
    * Identity management for IP communications systems.
    * Anonymity and privacy in IP communications.
    * Forensics and diagnostics in IP communication systems.
    * Techniques to detect, mitigate and prevent SPIT, phreaking
    and vishing.
    * Denial of service detection and prevention.
    Mobile IP Communications
    * Mobile IP communication services.
    * Mobility in cloud-based IP communications infrastructure.
    * Mobile P2P IP communication systems.
    Miscellaneous
    * The role of IP communications in the power grid.
    * Open source development in IP communications.
    * Research issues in vertical IP communication markets (e.g.,
    privacy in the medical field, location in logistical
    field, etc.)
    * Regulatory issues in IP communications.
    AUTHOR INFORMATION
    ==================
    Papers submission is handled by EDAS (http://edas.info/N8459).
    IPTComm solicits full papers up to 12 pages in length, in two-column
    ACM conference format
    (see http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates). All
    submissions must describe original research, not published nor
    currently under review for another conference or journal. The program
    committee will referee all papers, and accepted papers will be
    published in the conference proceedings. Papers will also be published in
    the ACM Digital Library.
    In 2010, IPTComm will be accepting short papers of at least 5 pages and
    no more than 6 pages. The aim of the short paper category is to help
    maintain a published record of work carried out as well as facilitate
    future affiliations and foster collaborative work. Short papers are
    subject to the same rigorous review process as full papers and follow
    the same submission process, schedule and expectation of presentation as

  • IPTComm 2010: Call for Papers

    ****** NOTE: Submissions due on Mar 5, 2010 *******
    IPTCOMM 2010
    ============
    The Fourth Conference on Principles, Systems and Applications of
    IP Telecommunications
    August 2 and 3, 2010
    Leibniz Supercomputing Center
    Munich, Germany
    http://iptcomm.org
    * Over-the-top services.

    * Mobile IP communication services.
    * Mobility in cloud-based IP communications infrastructure.
    * Mobile P2P IP communication systems.
    Miscellaneous
    * The role of IP communications in the power grid.
    * Open source development in IP communications.
    * Research issues in vertical IP communication markets (e.g.,
    privacy in the medical field, location in logistical
    field, etc.)
    * Regulatory issues in IP communications.
    AUTHOR INFORMATION
    ==================
Pending cooperation agreements,
    papers will also be published in the ACM Digital Library.
    In 2010, IPTComm will be accepting short papers of at least 5 pages and
    no more than 6 pages. The aim of the short paper category is to help
    maintain a published record of work carried out as well as facilitate
    future affiliations and foster collaborative work. Short papers are
    subject to the same rigorous review process as full papers and follow
    the same submission process, schedule and expectation of presentation as
    the full papers.
