Hello everybody.
I get a dump when the diagnostics extractor runs. Below the dump:
Runtime Errors         CALL_FUNCTION_NOT_REMOTE
Short text
    The function module "E2E_WS_EXTRACTOR_XI_AF_WRKL" cannot be used for 'remote'
What happened?
    The function module "E2E_WS_EXTRACTOR_XI_AF_WRKL" was called via RFC,
    but is not flagged as being able to be used for remote calls.
It looks this function module should be flagged as "RFC-enabled"; it looks a standard bug; has anybody faced this error?

Yes, I am experiencing the same problem. Here is SAP Global Support's recommendation when I opened a ticket for this:
The problem with "E2E_WS_EXTRACTOR_XI_AF_WRKL" most probably indicates
that some steps related to BI setup were not completed successfully.
Could you check RCA installation and upgrade guide,
Chapter 6.2.2 Activate BI source system
Possible reason is misconfiguration for SMD related RFC connection.
This really did not help much because as far as I can tell my setup is correct. Have you been able to solve the problem?

E2E Diagnostics for ABAP system

Hello,
I want to know steps involved to configure E2E Diagnostics for ABAP stack. I need to get workload analysis, Exception Analysis, Change analysis.. for ABAP Stack under RCA workcenters.
Can anyone figure out all steps in managing and managed systems.

Hello Das,
Follow all steps in solman_setup (initial, basic and managed system configuatioN) carefully and patiently. You must ensure everything is executed, then you will ensure that the Managed System connectes to Solution Manager through RFCs, SMD Agent and Introscope Agent.

E2E RCA - The requested query / does not exist on the current server

Hi All,
The RCA for managed system is configured successfully and we are getting EWA for JAVA also.
But when i try to look at the statistics through Workload Analysis it gives error "The requested query / does not exist on the current server" and "unknown or deleted query".
I again tried to run CCMSBI_SETUP_E2E report but the problem STILL persists.
Please let me know what are the other methods i shall try.

Hi,
Our solution manager is in EHP1 SP23 and BI content is on 704 SP05.
Firstly the BI was configured in 001 client, we changed it to production client and activated the source system as mentioned in SOLMAN_SETP -> Basic configuration.
Later i found out the there are no queries. I already told to update the BI content and SAP BW patch to SP06.
Do you think it will work?

I need a low profile soundcard that can deli'ver digital 5. through either coax or optical, looks like the audigy se will do just that. I have a yamaha receiver with DTS, DD, etc with a coax input that I want to use. I want to confirm that all I really need is a cable that has an /8 inch plug for the blue digital out on the soundcard with an RCA end for my receiver.... sounds simple enough to me but I want to make sure. I know I can get the digital I/O module but don't see a point if I just need the cable I mentioned.

Let's take Battlefield 242 for example. The game will not allow me to specify hardware sound.
That would be because that card DOES NOT have any hardware on it, it is a totally software dri'ven card.
And yes your old Li've card is much better than the Audigy SE. The Audigy SE is nothing more than a re-named SB Li've 24 bit, which is also a software based card (same applies to the X-Fi Xtreme Audio, a POS card that should have never been given the X-Fi name).

RCA for VAR

I have an issue I hope you can help me with.
My company is a VAR for SAP and we have several customers that we all access using saprouter.
Now I want to setup RCA for these customers.
I have installed the agents on client side.
To get the systems in SLD (and SMSY/LMDB) I try to use the default tools.
So for registering ABAP-stack I use transaction RZ70.
The direct connection fails but after altering the RFC SLD_UC by adding the saprouterstring the system registers.
Now I try to do the same for the J2EE-instance.
I go to the visual administrator and look for the SLD Data Supplier service.
Here's my issue, I can't add the routerstring to these settings.
So registering fails.
I expect similar issues when I have to connect the agents to Solution Manager and Wily EM.
How can I set this up?

Database Analysis in RCA for ABAP

Dear Expert,
I have performed all managed system configuration steps for my Abap System in solman_setup.
In RCA I am getting Workload analysis and host analysis properly ,but for Database Analysis it is showing no Application data.

3.5 to RCA for home stereo?

Got an iPhone 4 32 gig. Want to play some of my music playlists on a cheap stereo in the travel trailer. Bought a pair of 3.5 to RCA (Red/White) male ends all.
Sound won't play. I noticed the 3.5 cable tip has only 2 bands where the ear buds have 3 bands. Is it possible that I do not have the correct cable? Recommendations?

The extra band is for the remote (mic and buttons). Earphones with no remote work fine so your adapter should also. Test your adapter and stereo with a device other than the iPhone to verify the adapter and stereo work fine.

No data in Workload Analysis overview in E2E Analysis for TREX

I'm not getting any data in E2e Workload analysis Overview screen for TREX system. Data is available in all other screens and extractors are running fine. I'm using Solution Manager 7.1 SP10. Kindly help me.

Hi Pragadeesh,
Your system landscape definition in SMSY seems to be wrong. The products selected at the Setup Wizard for the managed system must exist in SMSY in order to run the extractos correctly.
Please refer to the Root Cause Analysis Landscape Guide available
at http://service.sap.com/diagnostics -> media library for additional information.
1) Upgrade CIM model according to note 669669.
2) Download the latest version of note 1468591 and apply it using SNOTE
3) Check note 1259109, download the latest configuration file and apply it
Additionally, it is highly recommended to patch your LM-SERVICE SP09
with the latest patch (1) according to note 1599627.

E2E RCA config

Hi,
We have installed necessary agents. Now we are doing configuration.
What SLD configuration is required for RCA part.
In Our solution manager -> RZ70 is set to some other system. If we perform SLD J2ee config under solman_setup -> initial configuration this will effect the settings in solution manager systems or the systems connected to it?

Hi Rohan,
It is better if you can use your solman SLD as your central SLD . If you have any other central SLD , use the SLD bridge concept to provide SLD data to Solution manager SLD .

We are heading to implement RCA in our landscape.. WE have Solman EHP1 at SPS22
I have done homework and formulated below steps to implement RCA
1. Install SMD agents in all managed systems
2. Install SAP HOST AGENT in managed systems (if it is not present, SAPHOSTAGENT is needed for SMD agent 7.11..... Is SAPHOSTAGENT needed in solman also???/)
3. Install Wily Introscope EM in Solman
4. Run SOLMAN_SETUP
i. This will install Wily Introscope agents in managed systems automatically
IS the above sequence is correct for RCA? or did I miss anything here?
I am bit confused about installing Wily introscope agents... how Solman will install them in managed system automatically during solman_setup? Will it download the agent sca file from smp and install in the managed system?

It's necessary install SapHostagent if you're running diagnostics agent 7.11 or a lower version. With 7.20, saphostagent will come installed automatically.

You must deploy the ISagent in Solution Manager System and when the agents of managed systems connect in Solution Manager, ISAgent will be deployed and updated automatically in all systems that are connecting in Solution Manager system.
Example:
When you'll execute an update of your solution manager and you updated components LM-SERVICE and ISAGENT. To execute this procedure you must enable "Maintenance Mode", in this case, all agent will be disconnected.
When you finish the upgrade of these components in your solution manager and you disable the Maintenance Mode, all agents will connect in solution manager system and will check that there's a newer version of ISAGENT and LM-SERVICE and all diagnostics agents and ISagents will be updated automatically.
If you check the log files of Diagnostics you'll see this deployment being executed automatically.

RCA for Oracle RAC Performance Issue

Hi DBAs,
I have setup a 2 node Oracle RAC 10.2.0.3 on Linux 4.5 (64 bit) with 16 GB memory and 4 dual core CPUs each. The database is serving a web application but unfortunately the system is at its knees. The performance is terrible. The storage is a EMC SAN but ASM is not implemented with a fear to further degrade the performance or not to complicate the system further.
I am seeking the expert advises from some GURUs from this forums to formulate the action plan to do the root cause analysis to the system and database. Please advise me what tools I can use to gather the information about the Root Cause. AWR Report is not very helpful. The system stats with top, vmstat, iostat only show the high resource usage but difficult to find the reason. OEM has configured and very frequently report all kind of high wait events.
How I can use effectively find Network bottle necks (netstat command which need to be really helpful to understand).
How I can see the system I/O (iostats) which can provide me some useful information. I don't understand what sould be the baseline or optimal values to compare the I/O activities.
I am seeking help and advised to diagnose the issue. I also want to represent this issue as a case study.

First of all, RAC is mainly suited for OLTP applications.
Secondly, if your application is unscalable (it doesn't use bind variables and no SQL statements have been tuned and/or it has been ported from Sukkelserver 200<whatever>) running it against RAC will make things worse.
Thirdly: RAC uses a chatty Interconnect. If you didn't configure the Interconnect properly,and/or are using slow Network cards (1 Gb is mandatory), and/or you are not using a 9k MTU on your 1 Gb NIC, this again will make things worse.
You can't install RAC 'out of the box'. It won't perform! PERIOD.
Fourthly: you might suffer from your 'application' connecting and disconnecting for every individual SQL statement and/or commit every individual INSERT or UPDATE.
You need to address this.
Using ADDM and/or AWR is compulsory for analysing the problem, and/or having read Cary Millsaps book on Optimizing Oracle performance is compulsory.
You won't come anywhere without AWR and OS statistics will not provide any clue.
Because, paraphrasing William Jefferson Clinton, former president of the US of A:
It's the application, stupid.
99 out of 100 cases. Trust me. All developers I know currently are 100 percent clueless.
That said, if you can't be bothered to post the top 5 AWR events, and you aren't up to using AWR reports, maybe you should hire a consultant who can.
