Call interception/rerouted/hacked 5s

Yesterday, somehow, somebody was able to place a call to my husband with my number.  When he answered, the woman said "this is Kristen, and he knew at that very second it was not be because I don't ever answer my phone like that. Well at the same time, I was trying to call him, and a woman answered and was like "oh this is Michelle from work, and I said hi Michelle, I'm so confused on why you are answering his phone. I had just talked to my husband about stopping at my work to pick up some documents, so for a minute this sounded believable.
I hung up and called him back. This time he answered and told me what happened. I said I'm not comfortable talking to you anymore, I'll talk you when I get home. When he got home, I called AT&T by dialing 611, it sounded like I was dialing AT&T and the rep answered. I started to tell him what was going on but it didnt seem like he was paying attention. THere was a lot of background noise. I was getting really frusterated at this point because I wasnt getting any answers. I asked about if anyone has reported this before, and he said well I've heard of it sort of. Then he asked me if I had snapchat downloaded on my phone and I said well, I just deleted it last night. He said well thats what it is, I couldn't think of the word. Then I said, well I thought you just said you haven't heard of this before. And He said "oh snapchat, thank God I don't have that. It sounded like he muted the call, I coudn't hear anymore but the call was still connected. I kept saying hello. I hung up and just knew that I wasn't talking to AT&T. I work in a call center and this person did not sound professional. I felt skeptical.
I called back from my husbands phone, and told the rep what was going on. She looked up the records and showed no record of me making a call to 611 from my phone minutes before. She advised me to make a police report as somone was able to access my line.
I changed my phone number, and deleted all my apps, changed my passwords, but I haven't been able to bring myself to turn back on my phone. I'm extremely freaked out!
Anyone had any experinece with this? I've noticed for about a month that my phone would randomly black out with the apple logo showing(like its powering on?  I thought it was a malfunction with the software. I had a 4s and just a week ago bought the 5s.

Alright, thank you so much!
But, many people would be suprised what some organizations are capable of and how they actually operate.
And the motive being to target someone and cause them to become depressed and drive the person to do something stupid or try to replicate many of the shooting we've seen on military bases in U.S. Lately. I know that's a long shot and and a really radical explanation, but you never know. Just better safe to report it in case a whole slu of people on a specific base start getting strange texts! You just can never be too safe!!!
But, I sure hope it's just the simple, reasonable explanation that a dude in his unit trying to stir up trouble haha!
Anyway, thanks again. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

  • Call Intercept Suggestion - Screen "International" as Well

I've recently started using Call Intercept, and I really like the service.  I'm not sure where to submit suggestions, so I'll put this here.  I think Call Intercept should also screen calls that say "International" on the caller ID, or allow the entry of more than 10 digits for the blocked list.  I've noticed that some persistent annoying calls are somehow coming through as "International" to avoid being blocked.

  • Call Intercept vs. ACR ?

I've been a subscriber to Call Intercept now for a month, and get on an average 8-10 calls from "Out of Area", "Unknown" and "Private Caller".  ONCE I received the distinctive ring of Call Intercept for an "Anonymous" call.  I've been told by support that I"m just set up to have "Anonymous" calls blocked and SHOULD have had an option to choose if I want these other kinds of call to be blocked , but when I call the number to set up your code and such ( the Advanced Features number...) - the menu only gives me the options to enter VIP numbers or SPECIFIC numbers I want to have blocked. I've never been given another option.  Just as I was ready to cancel, I stumbled upon some information that may be the problem - in my Freedom Call Package, I have "Anonymous Call Rejection" as part of the package and this supposedly won't work with Call Intercept.  Is this true, and if it is - how do you turn off "Anonymous Call Rejection" to make Call Intercept work ? I am a Fios subscriber by the way...
Please help !  These calls are making me crazy....

Thanks for writing back. Yeah, *87 is supposed to turn the Anonymous Call Block off - but it wouldn't and I had to have someone at Verizon do it.
After spending hours with some very nice people trying to help, I finally was transferred to someone in the "Fiber Solution Center " (  love the name...), who confirmed right away that - indeed - Call Intercept won't work when you have Anonymous Call Block ( and several other features...) that come with the "Freedom Package".  I don't know if this is unique to Fios customers or not.  At any rate, he took off the "Anonymous Call Block" from my Freedom Package - but Call Intercept is still not working.  No name- and no number are displayed and it still won't work. Many hours have been spent on the phone with Verizon and I surrender , and will discontinue this feature.  Too bad.  It seems like it could be a great feature...

  • Call forwarding number hacked

I am an expat living and working overseas and have a Skype call forwarding # that routes calls to my international number.  Over the last 2 weeks I have received 3 phone calls from angry people across the country (Georgia, California, and Utah) claiming they've received a phone call from my Skype # claiming it's from the IRS and they owe money and to contact them immediately.
I, of course, did not make these calls and am concerned my Skype # has been "hacked" which could lead to worse identity theft.  I tried to contact Skype / MSFT but the chat help discussion was a disaster and the person obviously 1] wasn't a native English speaker, and 2]  did not come close to understanding my issue nor solve it.
I have no idea where to turn to look in to this issue, or how to prevent it from happening again. Would welcome any suggestions!

    Deactivate the call forwarding
         *73
press 'send' and wait for tone/message
         press 'end'
    Then reactivate call forwarding
         *72
enter # where calls are to be forwarded
press 'send' and wait for tone/message
         press 'end'

  • Checking for queued calls and rerouting

I have a script attached that I am trying to check for agents logged into the Reception CSQ if there is at least one agent logged into that CSQ then it should then check to make sure that there are no more then one call queued in the Reception CSQ if more than one call is holding in the reception queue then it should send it down a call subflow to another script. Currently, this does not seem to be returning the expected behaviour and it always goes to the Queue Call step no matter if anyone is signed in or not.

I think you have your If step backward. You currently have:
    This reads as follows:
IF agentsLoggedIn is one or less, then queue the call.
IF contactsWaiting is one or less, then queue the call.
    ELSE call subflow
Based on your description above I suspect you want this:

  • Video call hacked

    pls help
i had a private conversation with my boyfriend and I have the suspicion that we were hacked. because afterwards somebody asked to join my friends (this is the second time it happens after a conversation like this). Can this happen? i don't want to see us in any wierd site. How can we protect?

without the aid of a virus/malware/spyware or similar elements, Skype video calls and calls cannot be hacked.  I think your first course of action would be updating your anti-virus/security software, then run a full anti-virus scan (the same goes with the other party you were talking to that time).

  • Please help, my emails are being intercepted by spammers!

    Hi,
I recently had enough of junkmail getting through my ISP's filters and Sylpheed's bogofilter, even after regular training.  I decided to make a white list by making filter rules that would divert spam to the Junk folder, if the From: header did not contain the name of an email domain from my address book. I then asked my regular contacts to sent a blank reply to my email just to make sure they get through to the Inbox.
Within 48 hours I received an email from a spammer that used a fake From: with an email address supposed to be coming from my ISP's email server! Now I think there are at least three ways this could happen:
The spammer breaks in regularly into my machine (which I run as a normal user) and discovered the white list filter arrangement.
The spammer inercepted my email on the way to my regular contacts.
The spammer has spyware installed on at least one of my contact's machine and obtained a copy of my email.
Whatever the case, I now even have junkmail arriving with my own address in the From: header! Any idea which is the most likely way the spammer(s) intercepted my email? I may soon change to a new ISP and would like to take measures, if at all possible these days, to guard my new email address. And is there a way I can find out if one of my contacts has spyware installed?
Please help! This is rather a serious problem for me and others as well, I should think.
    My thanks in advance.

byte wrote:Nobody intercepted or hacked anything.
Relying on the From: header is totally and utterly useless.
From: is a free-form field, just like Date:, To:, Subject: or anything else.
You can put anything you like there and spam with your own From: address is a rather common sight.
Actually, this is what I got from the spammer, after I notified my regular contacts in my address book that I set up an addressbook-based white list which directs non-whitelisted emails to the junk folder:
    Gucci
To ensure delivery to your inbox (not bulk or junk folders), please add [email protected] to your address book.

You have subscribed to receive Gucci email communication. US Corporate Address: 685 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY, 10022, USA
Now I feel this strongly suggests that the spammer read the email I sent to my regular contacts. And before this happened, I never got any emails with a return address other than some apparently random dummy email.
If he was smart enough to find out that I made a whitelist to avoid junk mail, why does he suggest I put him in the address book? I guess he thinks I must be stupid, trying as I did to avoid junk mail!
    Thank you

  • Using *77 to set 'anonymous' or 'unknown' call blocking is not working

Per instructions from Verizon, I used *77 to turn on anonymous call blocking last night. I dialed *77, and got a voice telling me that I have enabled anonymous call blocking.
However, it's NOT working. When I call home from my office, it shows up in caller ID as "unavailable"; shouldn't a call that is identified as 'unavailable' be blocked with this service?  Does anyone understand why this would be the case? Are all 'unavailable calls' the same?

Unavavailable/unknown calls and anonymous/private calls are two different things. Anonymous calls are calls from someone who has chosen to block their telephone number from being displayed on your caller ID screen. This means the caller has dialed *67 before dialing your phone number (or they have what is called line blocking where all their outgoing caller id info is automatically blocked without them having to dial *67 before every call).  *77 is used to block anonymous/private calls and force the caller to allow their caller id info to come through to your phone in order for the call to complete.
Unavailable/unknown calls are calls in which no caller id information has been sent. These are generally from collection agencies or telemarketers.  *77 will not block these calls in any way. The only services which will block or screen these calls are Call Intercept or Do Not Disturb.

  • UNAVAILABLE CALLS DRIVING ME INSANE

Why does the anonymous call block not include calls that show as UNAVAILABLE????  I have recieved 5 calls from UNAVAILABLE in the last 3 hours.  The first 3 I did not pick up.  The last 2 I did, with nobody on the other end, just silence and then disconnect.  Undoubtedly a telemarketer of some sort.  It would seem I am powerless to do anything about this.  *69 doesn't work, and I don't really feel like paying 9 bucks a month for call intercept.  Blocking UNAVAILABLE should be INCLUDED in anonymous call block, or at the very least given as an option.  VERIZON, PLEASE FIX THIS!
UNAVAILABLE = ANONYMOUS in my book.

  • Sudden Surge of Unsolicited Calls

First and foremost, I've been on the Do Not Call Registry since I got my phone number.  Yes, I already verified that the number is still there.
Which brings me to my actual issue:
Over the past few weeks / months we've had a sudden surge of unsolicited sales calls.  I just logged into my Verizon account to add the originating numbers to Calling Features \ Incoming Call Block however it maxes out at 10 numbers!  I called and spoke with a Verizon rep who said there is no way around this 10 number limitation.  He also advised that toll free numbers (800, 877, 888, etc) cannot be blocked.
Does anyone know a work-around for this 10 number limitation, inability to block toll-free numbers or better yet an explanation as to why there has been this surge of calls?
Thanks for your time & help!

Remember to opt out of Verizon Marketing @ www.verizon.com/privacy
as well as place yourself on the www.donotcall.gov website.
In addition you should look at using the following privacy services that verizon provides.
    Using Calling Features
    Privacy and Security
    Anonymous Call Block
    Call Block
    Call Intercept
    Call Trace
    Do Not Disturb
    Selective Call Blocking
SHORT of that though, if you want to block "literally" everything, you should invest in a caller ID manager.  privacycorp has one such device.  I am sure there are others.

  • Alright who else is sick of the caller id spoofing?

Getting about 3 calls a day from 062 area code. I finally picked it up and told the {word filter} to stop calling me. He then called 10 times in a row. I have call block, which only allows 6 #s and call intercept which is useless they just pick a new #. So I called Verizon and there is nothing they can do. Anyone else know what to do? I reported them to the FTC but the calls haven't stopped. Cant report to do not call because of the 062 non existent area code
Message Edited by CharlotteS on 08-30-2008 12:04 PM

I am getting calls that the ID says are from my name and number, but no msg is ever left and it is not possible for me to call myself like that.  I posted a few days ago about this but never got a reply.

  • Calls with no caller ID info still coming in...

I have Verizon digital voice.  And this after having Vonage for years.  Oh, how I sometimes wish I had never changed.  Such as when I continually have phone calls ringing in that have "Unavailable" showing up on my TV screen and phone.  I have set up my account so that calls with no caller ID available won't even ring.  Perhaps someone here, another user or a VZ employee can explain this to me.  I NEVER got a call that came in with no caller ID info when I had Vonage.
On another note, can someone else explain how numbers that are unpublished and unlisted, whether they are cell phones, home phones, or business phones, can be bought?  For example, I would be really ticked off to find out, after paying for an unlisted and unpublished number, that someone can type my phone number in and buy my name, address, etc.
    Thanks.

*77, or Anonymous Call Rejection (ACR), only rejects call that would show on caller ID as "anonymous" or "private". These are calls where the incoming caller ID information is there, but the caller has chosen to block it from appearing on your caller id display. *77 cannot block calls where there is no caller ID information sent, such as "unavailable", "unknown",  or "out of area". These calls can only be screened with the optional feature Call Intercept.

  • Called ID on phone barely working

The caller ID on my phone just shows the state the caller lives in.  It will only say "Florida" and not the person's name.  I know they do not have called ID blocked because it was showing their names when I had Brighthouse last week.
    Ideas?

    telecomdave wrote:
I am subscribed to Caller ID with Name.  While this usually works fine, I often see a wireless call as the number and "Wireless Caller."
I too see some out of area calls coming in with the number and "XXX" , where XXX typically shows a state.
Real question is - what is actually sent from originating operating company?  Is it just number or name and number?  I'm able to manipulate the called number on our PBX and, mistakenly, applied the wrong NXX (local exchange) to my number.  When I called home my wife asked why the number was correct but the name showed as a pizza shop.  That would suggest that the number to name translation takes place somewhere near the receiving end of the call ????
Message Edited by telecomdave on 07-30-2009 07:48 AM
Usually when you get just a state, it is a telemarketer or bill collector.  They mask their names so you don't know who it is in hopes that you will pick up.  I've been tortured recently by someone ID'd as just "California" that included a bogus phone number.  They would call every hour on the hour with nothing on the other side if I answered.  Finally, I gave up and got Call Intercept to block the number.

  • Unwanted calla

I have stopped answering my phone because of great amount of unwanted calls from sales, etc.   I s there a way to get rid of these?   Thank goodness for email.

Hi. You may want to do a combination of call block and anonymous call rejection. And even call intercept if its available in your area.
Here are some of the features you can use. Just sign in at www.myverizon.com and look at your account you can add features there or call verizon and ask to add these. 800-VERIZON

  • Mobitracker mobihacker

i luv calling it mobi hacker. I think the developer of this software had some malicious intentions when he made mobitracker. Please Nokia investigate for us. I recently downloaded the application from Nokia stores on my 5230 Nokia. Without a warning the application was sending messages to 3 numbers i configured according to its request. The mystic part is that i never removed the SIM card from my phone and those messages sent to the 3 numbers were never delivered to the intended recipients. However, my service provider charged my account for those messages triggered by Mobitracker, though they never delivered nor shown as sent in my sent items. Please nokia help solve this mystery.
    Boyd80

No I'm not blaming Nokia or asking it to take responsibility over something they did not develop. Anywhere, I have since uninstalled the Mobitracker apps from my phone. All I wanted to know is whether there are others who have had a problem with the same application, in particular, on sending discreet messages that were not delivered. It got me thinking that the application was triggering the sms and intercepting them, giving a false delivery messages. None of my 3 friendly numbers ever alerted me that they were receiving discreet SMSs from my phone yet Mobitracker was sending 3 SMSs every 10 minutes interval over a month period, nw you can imagine how many SMSs where sent.
