Where to find javax.management.snmp package
where can i find the javax.management.snmp package? i have downloaded the java management extension (jmx) package, but the snmp package was not included.
I think you can't find the jmx snmp package because it's currently under development.

HP Systems Insight Manager SNMP Traps not being received
I found the following on HP help....is it any use?Why am I not receiving notification when there is a SNMP Authentication trap received? Solution: The default setting for Enabling Trap Handling in SNMP Extensions is Disabled (Not Processed). The reason for this is because typically, a system can be set up with an incorrect community string or an incorrect community string is set in HP Systems Insight Manager, which results in an Authentication Failure trap to be sent to the management server each time a request is made to the system. This results in many traps being logged. To change this setting to Processed (Enabled), complete the following steps:Open HP Systems Insight Manager (http://machinename:280).Log in as a user with full configuration rights.Select OptionsEventsSNMP Trap Settings. In the Mib Name field, select rfc1215.mib.In...
Hello,
New to this site so here we go with an issue on HP Systems Insight Manager v7.4.0
System Insight Manager (SIM Server) receives alerts from a second server when the server restarts but no other alerts although it should be receiving all alerts.
When looking at the management agent on the second server I try and send a test trap and although it is sent it is not received on the SIM Server.
I do get alerts on the SIM server (and receive an email which has been set to send for all alerts) when the second server is restarted.
As I have set all alerts to be logged I should be getting spammed by the second server but it's all very quiet.
Any ideas anyone as I am stumped?

Embedded Event Manager - SNMP - run TCL script
I would like to run a tcl script on a router using snmp. I understand Embedded Event Manager can do this but haven't found what I need to run that. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Yeah, you could do this, but it depends on your version of IOS. You will need EEM 3.1 or higher (15.0) to be able to intercept SNMP GET requests. Then, you could do something like:
event manager applet snmp-trigger event snmp-object oid 1.9.9.9.9 type gauge sync yes istable no action 1.0 policy my_tcl_policy.tcl action 2.0 snmp-object-value event-id _event_id gauge 0 next-oid 1.9.9.9.9.0 action 3.0 exit 1!snmp-server manager
Then, when you query 1.9.9.9.9.0 on the device, the Tcl policy "my_tcl_policy.tcl" should execute, and the snmp-trigger applet policy will return a value of 0.

Software for managing SNMP Pix failover traps
Hi, we need to monitor pix failover with snmp. Going through the pix readme shows as example how to do with Cisco Works for WIndows. Is this the only cisco product that can manage this? We are using LMS, is there a way with LMS to monitor failover events?
Kurtis DurrettThanks!
The command originally didn't work by itself, but after come changes to the other SNMP configurations the traps were then received.
SNMP configurations below:
Switch#show run | inc snmp
snmp-server community (removed) RW 5
snmp-server trap-source Vlan411
snmp-server chassis-id (Removed)
snmp-server enable traps fru-ctrl
snmp-server enable traps entity
snmp-server enable traps envmon fan temperature
snmp-server host *.*.*.* (Removed) fru-ctrl envmon
Logging:
Switch#show run | inc log
service timestamps log datetime localtime

Hi all,
I have configured the Database Control (not Grid Control) to send SNMP alert in our monitoring system.
I have added notification rules per target (Instance, Cluster, Database, Host, ASM, Listener). For Each notification rule I have added the metrics and specified the SNMP method.
Now, testing the SNMP alert for Tablespace Space Used (%) , I have created a small tablespace datafile and fill it with data, as you can see below.
The issue is that the tablespace alert is not showing in the monitoring system where a previous test I have made to shutdown the database shows the database down alert on the monitoring system. How can I troubleshoot the issue?
Thank you

I am using the config man mib to get trap notifications when a change is made to the config of our Cisco switches. The trap OID is .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.43.2.0.1. I am receiving the traps fine, but I want to know if there is a way to include the username that made the config change in the trap. If not, is there a mib that will include the username?
Thank youHello there,
Try these Objects: ( ccmHistoryEventTerminalUser OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.27 ) and (ccmHistoryEventRcpUser OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.27)
I guess this object in conjunction with the other one u set, will give you a good result.
plz Rate if it helped,

We faced one recent issue with WLC configuration behavior and explaining our observation and workaround we did. If there is an alternate better approach, please suggest.
Requirement
Requirement is to manage the WLC (5508 with 7.4 code) using two SNMP managers in different locations. Also these two Servers should use the same community string to manage WLC.
Observation
We were able to configure the SNMP community string for one server IP (to allow access) through GUI
While trying to add another Server – IP with same community string – it didn’t allow
As per the configuration guide, Controller can use only one IP address range to manage SNMP community.
So we cannot configure the same community string to allow only two different server IP addresses
Configuration reference>
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.4/configuration/guides/consolidated/b_cg74_CONSOLIDATED_chapter_0111.html
Solution
We currently configured the major subnet ( 10.x / 8 - two match both server addresses) and it works fine
Also when we tried 0.0.0.0 / 0.0.0.0 , it didn’t work (SNMP was failing)
But this creates a security issue wherein anybody can poll the WLC. Please suggest if something else can be done.
Regards,
GuruThis is not paossible. You would need to have two different community strings in order to not get an error.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi All, looking for some assistance with the following issue.
We are attempting to upgrade our Operations Manager 2012 SP1 environment to Operations Manager 2012 R2.
We have completed all the pre-upgrade tasks detailed here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn249704.aspx
We are then following the guidance detailed here regarding upgrading distributed management groups
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn249721.aspx. The upgrade fails on the first management server with the following screen being displayed.

Using JConsole in combination with SNMP
I have created a simple agent (using version 5 JDK) to handle an MBean. Within this agent I have created two adapters; an HTML and SNMP adapter. The HTML adapter is working fine via the browser (i can execute the operations on the MBean).
Question is; Can I use JConsole to connect to the SNMP adapter?; if not how then?
Code:
public void addSnmpAdapter(int port)
throws Exception {
// Register and start the SNMP adapter
SnmpAdaptorServer snmpAdapter = new SnmpAdaptorServer();
ObjectName snmpAdapterName = new ObjectName(
"MBeanAgent:name=snmpadapter,type=SNMP,port=" + port);
snmpAdapter.setPort(port);
mbs.registerMBean(snmpAdapter, snmpAdapterName);
snmpAdapter.start();
System.out.println("SnmpAdapter on port " + port);
}Start command:
java -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.snmp.acl=false -Dcom.sun.management.snmp.port=162 MBeanAgentHi Willem,
No you cannot use JConsole to "connect to the SNMP adapter".
JConsole is a JMX Console, not an SNMP console.
What are you trying to do with that SNMP Adaptor anyway?
If you use Java DMK to start an SNMP adapter, and do nothing more,
the adaptor will show you nothing. It is empty. You still need to
generate, implement, and add at least one SNMP MIB to the adaptor.
For more information on this, see the Java DMK documentation.
http://java.sun.com/products/jdmk/jdmk_docs.html
Java SE 5.0 has a built-in SNMP agent that can be started using System
properties on the Java command line. This agent implements a single MIB,
the JVM-MANAGEMENT-MIB, that exposes the JVM Management and Monitoring
data through SNMP.
See here for more info on the JVM SNMP Agent:
What is the JVM SNMP Agent?

See also here for a discussion of using SNMP versus JMX to monitor your JVMs.

SNMP OID for AssociatedAPs in Virtual WLC 7.4.100.0
Hello Guys!
I need you help for something that I need to do to monitor my Wi-FI network.
I'm using a Virtual WLC (SW Ver 7.4.100.0) where most that 30 APs are associated with, but I would like to monitor each disaciossiation of APs using SNMP. After some search, I have found this OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.2.1.1.1.38 on some forums but it doesn't work, I see random number in my monitoring tool.
Do you know if there is any another OID to use with this software version or maybe if I have to upgrade to ver7.6 or ver8?
Thanks in advance,
KevinI'm assuming you don't own a license for Cisco Prime Infrastructure
One thing you can do is send SNMP traps to your monitoring software from the WLC (I've never used virtual WLC but my assumption is most options are the same. If your software doesn't support SNMP Traps consider a different monitoring software...
Go to Management > SNMP > Trap Receivers and set up your receiver
Then to to Management > SNMP > Trap ControlsHere is where you set what traps are sent via SNMP. If you see the "AP" tab you can set several things.
If you only want to see if an AP is dropping off the network and the above doesn't work, you could just put dhcp reservations on your APs and have your software ping it. This of course is only if its off network, not if it simply disassociates. -
Manage ASA via VPN on its outside interface
I have a few ASAs in region offices, and connected to headquater ASA via IPsec P2P VPNs through internet. VPN is setup on outside interfaces of those ASAs. Now my trouble is to manage those region offices' ASAs from headquater network. I cannot directly connecte to any those remote ASAs, I have to logon a remote switch behine them then logon the remote ASA. My syslog and network management servers are all in headquater network, none of them can talk to remote ASAs, unless I let them do it on public IPs.
How can I manage(snmp, syslog, etc) a remote ASA through the IPsec VPN tunnel setup on its outside interface?
I am thinking add the outside interface public IP into the ACL for VPN Phase 2 crypto map. Will it work?
Cisco Supermen have an idea?
Thanks a lot.I am by no means any Superman, but i think i can help
You can actually configure all the SSH, SNMP, Syslog using the ASA inside interface, and that would be part of the interesting crypto ACL traffic (assuming that the crypto ACL includes the ASA inside interface subnet).
Eg:
For SSH:
ssh inside
For Syslog:
logging host inside
For SNMP:
snmp host inside
Plus, you would also need to configure: management-access inside on all your regional offices ASA.
Hope that helps. -
Update SNMP to v3 on WLCs. Update also required on WCS?
Hi all,
I need to update the SNMP version on our WLCs to v3, using MD5 and aes128. This looks easy enough to do:
Management > SNMP > SNMP v3 users > new
From here i can add a new user (ie SNMPV3) and set MD5 and aes128 passwords. I will update our monitoring software to match the SNMP version and credentils, and our monitoring of the WLCs will then run under SNMP v3.
However, we also use a WCS to manage the WLCs (we use templates for wireless key changes etc)
I suspect i will need to update the SNMP details on here too, PER WLC ?
Configure > Controllers > (IP of specific WLC) > Properties > SNMP Properties
Within here i believe i need to add the MATCHING SNMPv3 credentials that i added to the WLC in queston, presumably so the WCS can still talk to the WLC..? Is this correct, or is there more than this that is required?
I also assume that any SNMP update on the WLCs and WCS will NOT impact the APs, because they chat to the WLCs via LWAPP and *not* SNMP...?
Thoughts appreciated,
Thanks in advance!You are quite correct. You will need to update the v3 user on the WCS per WLC. And yes, it will not affect the AP.
Cheers,
Steve

But java 1.5 is using JMX. and eclipse is also using that. i import javax.management package in eclipse, but for snmp coding it is using com.sun.jmx.snmp.* not my imported pacakge java.management.snmp.* .
so, how i can use my package javax.management in eclipse ?
